Warning Message For 90 Trial Version Of W7 Enterprise

I am an IT professional doing Oracle application development remotely for a client. I want to see if the business applications I am running for my client and my company work under Windows 7. What exactly does Microsoft mean when they say "We do not recommend that you install this if you are a not an IT Professional or not professionally managing corporate networks"? Is there something about the trial version that is different from the version that we will get when we purchase the OS?

Upgrade From Win 7 Pro MSDN To Enterprise Trial
I am just wondering if it is possible to "upgrade" from Windows 7 Professional (RTM, MSDNAA version) to the Enterprise 90-days Trial, and this, just by entering a "trial" serial number. In fact, I am at the Microsoft's club of my university, and I am in charge of Bitlocker / Bitlocker To Go, I have to write documentation on it, as we've been testing Ultimate RC, we got this feature, but now, we have Professional RTM which lack this feature.

We managed to get very robust installations (with VPN, drivers and development tools alongside with SQL and SharePoint installation), we prefer not to reinstall/upgrade all PCs and get any risk.

Son my question is: is it possible to retrieve "trial key" from the ISO we got to do something like an "Anytime Onsite Upgrade" by just modifying the serial?

Win 7 Enterprise TRIAL, Install From USB Drive Or CDs
i all I'm downloading W7 Enterprise TRIAL (90days). I have read in FAQS:

Q: How do I create an installation DVD?

A: Insert a blank DVD into your PC’s DVD drive.  Navigate to the downloaded Windows 7 Enterprise 90-Day Trial file. Right-click the file and select Burn disc image , then click the Burn button when the Windows Disc Image Burner dialog appears. A bootable DVD is created. Alternatively, you can commercially-available or free DVD burning programs.

But is possible extract this ISO and "burn" in USB drive or CDS instead of DVD? And Install W7 from USB drive or CDs?

Upgrades For Trial Version Of Windows 7
I had a friend build a new computer for me and he put the trial verison of Windows 7 on it.  I have upgraded it to the RC version of Windows 7.  Will the upgrades for Windows 7 that are currently being offered as pre-sales, do me any good since I do not have a previous version of Windows on my computer?

I do not have Vista, nor do I have XP.  The only operating system I have is the trial version of Windows 7.  Does that mean I have to buy a full copy of Windows 7 and not the Upgrades?  And if so, will there be any advance sales for the full versions with possibly discounts for uses of the trial version of Windows 7?

3Dmark Vantage (Trial Version) Causing A Blue Screen Of Death
When I installed the program it installed flawlessly. Yet when I go to run the test itself instead of starting to play video I consistently get a blue screen of death. I can try to replicate it more and get the exact message if it would be helpful. Anyone have any ideas? All of my video card drivers are up to date.

Win 7 Genuine Version Error Message
I've been running Win7 Ultimate x64 on a new I7 Quad core system for just 1 month. Bought the system from a legitimate OEM with whom I've dealt for more than 9 years. Win 7 activated with no problems the day I rec'd the system. This morning, for the first time, I rec'd the message that my Win 7 version may not be genuine, and asking if I want to activate or pursue the issue.

Thinking the message may be a result of spyware (even though the system is well protected) I bypassed the message, and my desktop finally loaded without event. I then checked the control panel, which showed that I had a genuine activated copy of Win 7. Have all the current OS updates.

What's going on here? Obviously this message is spurious. Will it be a problem, and what caused it?

Upgrade Vista Enterprise X64 To Win 7 Enterprise X64
I'm trying to upgrade my Vista Enterprise x64 to Windows 7 Enterprise x64 by using the MSDN DVD. This is the Italian version of the Windows 7 Enterprise DVD (x64 and x86), upgrading an Italian installation of Windows Vista Enterprise x64. When I run the installer, it asks me to select between the x64 version of the OS and the x86 version.

I select the x64 version. After thinking on it for a while, the installer kicks me out saying that I can't upgrade from a 64 bit version to a 32 bit version, even though I selected the 64 bit version. If nothing else works, I'll download the 64-bit only ISO from the website, but I'd rather save the hassle - has anyone else had a similar problem?

Upgrade Path From Localized Version Of Vista To MSDNAA EN US Version Of Win7
I'm running an OEM version of Windows Vista Home Premium, and since I'm a class B netizen I only had access to a localized version of my operative system. The MSDNAA graciously makes a copy of Windows 7 Professional English and a copy of Windows 7 Multilanguage Pack available to me. Howerer there is no localized version of the former and no WinVista equivalent of the latter. The Windows installer aborts pointing out the localization conflict and links me to this unhelpful page.

My OEM seems to have disabled the option of using Windows Anytime Upgrade, so I will not pour money into this option just to get the option to relocalize my OS to English 'just in case'. Also, I would really rather not lose a week into driver scavenging, clicking through programs installers, staring at progress bars getting filled (multiple times). I'd really want to just upgrade. Is this a dead end? Do I have to cross my fingers and wait for Godot err a localized version of Win7 to appear on MSDNAA? Or is there a way around this?

Activate English Version With Spanish Version Key
I am buying a new PC in Spain but want Windows 7 Home Premium in English, which does not seem to be available anywhere here. So my techie guy is downloading an English version (pirate???) and at same time buying a genuine Spanish version. He says he will then use the key code from the Spanish pack to validate the English version.

Is this possible, and could I encounter any problems later? How can I be 100% sure (before I leave the shop!) that I have a validated, genuine English version of Windows 7 that will continue to work indefinitely?

Warning - Superantispyware Installer Will Cause BSOD
Tried it twice without and then with compatibility mode - each time BSOD before the installation can complete.

Fortunately you can boot back up again successfully. Good job as SA wont uninstall in Safe Mode.

I had to download and run their uninstaller as it fails to appear in CP > Programs > Uninstall a Program.

I've attached it if anyone else falls victim. It takes a couple of seconds to run and then reboot is necessary.

It's a pity as SA is quite a good anti-spyware agent & is a good last resort against Vundo before going the Hijackthis route.

RC 1 Warning (Alcohol 120%) And (Incompatible Drivers)
I've been heavily testing Windows 7 RC on my main system.  Mainly because while yes it is my main system and not recommended, it is the best way for me to test the OS in real world circumstances day to day.  While doing so I installed the latest version of Alcohol 120%, which claims to be Windows 7 compatible.

Here's the warning.  It both is and isn't at the same time.  It will install.  It will allow for virtual drives and it will burn.  However, the driver it uses wreaks havoc with your drives.  While installing all my software, and I have a lot... Mainly games.  You will constantly get CRC errors.  Mainly in the form of Windows claiming that a file being install doesn't match the file in the installer and or cabinets.  Something to that effect.

At first I thought it was Nero 8, so I reformatted and reinstalled Windows and Alcohol 120%, but not Nero.  I tried installing a game I confirmed as one with issues getting CRC errors prior to installing Alcohol.  Installed perfectly.  Installed Alcohol, and installed another game I had confirmed CRC issues with... CRC issue back... Can't install... Reformatted again and this time installed Nero immediately, but not Alcohol and tried the same game that wouldn't install agian as I already had control result listed.

Now it installs perfectly and all other games that had CRC issues before now install perfectly.  So don't install the latest version of Alcohol 120% as while the software itself does work, the driver thats installed causes so many CRC issues with your drives that it's not worth.  It's even caused issues with some of my patch files for updating games, such as the 1.2 patch for Crysis.

The Crysis 1.2 patch won't install if you've installed Alcohol 120 as the file needs to access the crysis disc during installation or it won't install.  And if Alcohol is installed, it comes up with an error during patch install right at the point where it checks the disc that prevents installation of the patch.  Sorry if I've over explained it, but issue has been bugging me 3 days and I finally managed to narrow it down to Alcohol, so I thought I'd warn everyone here before the run into the same nightmare.

Now for the suggestion regarding incompatible drivers:

I love the fact that Windows 7 warns you about incompatible drivers being blocked when they start and at startup.  The problem for many of PC techs is we are usually able to tell if a driver is critical or not.  If it is, then we can find a new one that is compatible.  If not, we know it could be deleted without any ill effect.  And if we don't know...... if we at least know what the driver is for, we can test the program to see if the program will still run without it.

Here's my example.  While installing my games, on one of them, the game installer automatically installs the protection software for the game.  In my case Darkstar One is the one in question here.  On installation it installs a driver for Tages Protection for verifying the original disc.  The problem is the driver for this protection software is incompatible with Windows 7.

The great thing is Windows automatically blocks and tells you so.  So I test the game and it works perfectly... It didn't need the driver.  It still checked the disc and verified it.  But Windows still warns me that it's blocked every start up.  Now I know you can tell windows not to show the warning for that particular driver again, but I would feel more comfortable if there was another option.  If the driver is not compatible and as a result can't be used, and it's not detrimental to the program, then there's no need to keep the driver on the system.

It would be nice if there was another option on the warning that pops up to delete the incompatible driver all together instead of the OS just not showing the error anymore.  Because even if it doesn't show the warning at start up, it's still logged in the event logs in at every start up.

I know I won't see it unless I actually go looking for it in those event logs after I tell it not to show warning anymore. I'd still just prefer to be able to delete it altogether and know it's gone for good.  Especially since you can't prevent the incompatible driver from being installed in the first place.  In short, it would be nice to be given the option to delete confirmed incompatible drivers altogether in the "Incompatible Driver Blocked" popup warning.

That's what I have for now.  I hope someone finds the warning helpful, and hope others agree with the suggestion.  I will post regular updates as I come across issues that I can "confirm" as Windows 7 issues and software compatibility issues and not user error issues.  Windows 7 looks very promising and so far am liking it a lot better than Vista.
