Video Motion In Full Screen Difference

I would like to know why when I play video on Windows Media Center 7 (on the TV set as a second monitor) the motion is fluid and perfect, just like watching TV, but when I play the same file either in WMC in windowed mode or even in full screen but on any other player the motion is stuttery.

This is especially noticeable if I play content that is originated at 1080i, such as Conan or Saturday Night Live. When playing the file from WMC, if it is in full screen, it looks just as good as watching it using the TV's own tuner or the tuner box provided by the cable company.

This also happens on 1080i content recorded with my HD camcorder, perfect in WMC in full screen but stuttery in WMC in windowed mode or in any other player, no matter what codec I set the highest merit to.

Certainly it can't be a problem of poor hardware, having a 2.66 Ghz Quad Core with 8 GB of RAM and a Radeon 4850 with 1 GB of RAM. My first guess is that DirectX doesn't handle windowed mode very well, but I don't know enough to make an educated conclusion.

Video Games Black Screen That Crashes While In Full Screen
All the games I had when I used Windows Vista were playable. Now with Windows 7, whenever any of my games starts in full screen mode, my monitor turns black and does nothing else. The monitor still detects my computer because the monitor gave me no error of a missing input. I cannot alt+tab or Ctrl+Alt+Del or even WindowsLogo+Tab and I am forced to cut the power and restart.

After long tiring research giving me such suspects like DirectX 11, disabling Aero, to the all popular lacking computer requirements to play the game I could play before I installed Windows 7. My conclusion was I could play games as long as there are not in full screen mode or in other words Windowed Mode.

Why must I play all my games in Windowed Mode to play them on Windows 7? Is there a way to fix this problem?

I have already tried to play a few games in compatibility mode and it does not change anything.

Full Screen Video Problems
I have recently been having problems playing standard .avi Files. I have a few .avi files sitting on my desktop, and when opened with VLC it crashes within 3-20 minutes . So I tried with Quicktime and worked fine... I thought it was just a fluke glitch.

Last night i open a new file and it plays quite choppy in Quicktime so i move over to VLC and it crashes... I tried with Windows media player and crashes in minutes as well.

Pixelated Full Screen Video Playback
Problem:  Video files I play look fine until I play them full screen, then the quality looks a little pixelated.  I have noticed the same problem with a few of the full screen games as well (like plants vs zombies).

Things I have tried:

Updating mobo chipset drivers (vista 64 are the only available)

Updating Video card drivers (vista 64 and windows 7 64 drivers are one and the same)

Running video with VLC (no change)

Using K-Light Codec pack (no change)

Using a media player Classic set to XP compatibility (audio would not work, but the video looked fine at full screen)

Hardware:
Gigabyte X48-DS4 mobo
GeForce 9600 GT

Anyone have ideas?

Bug: VLC Full Screen Video
When watching a full screen movie in VLC player (0.9.8a)  there is a problem with the taskbar.
If I move the mouse to the bottom of the screen to change the transport bar, the taskbar pops up above VLC and I almost click app instead of changing transport position.

Taskbar is set too double height to accommodate for all my icons and set to always combine.
But it also happens on single icon height.

On-line Full Screen Video Sound Distortion
I've gone to Microsoft for help with this issue, been to several tech forums, and even sent a request for help to Adobe Flash Player for help but I have had absolutely NO luck.

Basically this is my problem...I am a student and I just upgraded my Gateway laptop to Windows 7 Home Premium x64-bit for that $30 deal. Everything is running perfectly except my on-line videos.

Every single time I click on "full screen" to maximize the video size I start having sound distortion after about 30 or 40 seconds. I've checked and it's not my browser (I've tried it with Firefox and IE). I went to upgrade my sound driver but I got a message saying that my driver is already up-to-date. I also thought that the problem might be the flash player but I checked on that too and it was also up-to-date.

The best way that I can describe the distortion is that I have this sound that makes all of the noise in the video sound like everything is cracking up under water. Hope that makes sense. Oh, and to make things even worse...I don't have this problem on YouTube. I don't know if YouTube formats their videos in a certain way but I can put videos on Full Screen without the sound distortion. If you'd like an example of the type of videos I'm talking about go to MSN.com and look at the tiny little video that they always have on the left side titled "Video Highlights".

Any help would be greatly appreciated...I really don't know what to do. I have a small bit of understanding of computers but I'm not that tech savvy.

Exiting WMC Full Screen - Video Turns To Crap/blurry
I have a weird issue where my screen will get all light colored and just really crappy quality - blurry. I'm not sure if it is Windows, Nvidia, the HDMI cable, my monitor or what. I apologize if this is the wrong forum.

This usually happens coming out of full screen from Windows Media Center, but sometimes after a reboot.

I can turn off my tv (Sony Bravia - 52" LCD - KDL-52W4100) and turn it back on then the problem is fixed. Sometimes I can go full screen and back out again and that will fix it.

I have HDMI connection - Windows 7100 - I have the latst Nvidia drivers 186.. - I have tried a different HDMI cable also.

I am wondering can I but the upgrade version for the job?

Remote Desktop Full Screen Mode Not Going Full Screen
Running Windows 7 RTM x64 on both my PC at home and my workstation at work.My PC at home has a square monitor and my work PC has a widescreen monitor.I used webapps (citrix) from home to get into work environment then remoted to my workstation.Since doing that, when I am physically at the workstation (at work), I can no longer remote desktop to servers in full screen mode.  Instead, it does a smaller window with "full screen settings".  Basically the full screen remote desktop is about 3/4 size of the monitor, not 100%.

Motion LE1600 - Freezes After 15 Mins If Left Unattended
I have a strange problem with my Motion LE1600 tablet PC running Windows 7 Beta build 7000. Basically, if I don't touch the machine for 15 mins exactly, the whole thing freezes. The machine won't respond to the stylus or the nipple, the clock does not count up though the Wifi light continues to flicker.

I thought the issue might be related to power saving so I disabled the screen saver and went into the power saving options and made it so that the machine never goes to sleep or even turns off the screen, but I still get this problem. Any ideas anyone?

Virtual PC In Full Screen Smaller Than Native Screen Resolut
I'm running Win7 RC coupled with the latest available copy of Virtual PC beta x64 and I have a odd problem with it. while it's great that Virtual PC finally supports screen resolutions greater that 1600x1200 there's a problem with screen resolutions. For whatever reason, whenever I go full screen with Virtual PC it sets the full screen resolution of the virtual pc two pixels smaller than the native resolution of my screens.

Thus, if I go full screen on my main display the virtual pc resolution is enlarged to 1920x1198 while the displays native size is 1920x1200. I have two other screens hooked up, one with native 800x600 and one with 1024x768 and it's the same there, VPC sets the respective full screen resolutions to 800x598 and 1024x766. Why is it doing this?

The effects of having two missing rows pixels is that if I had worked with a project inside a windowed VPC with a fixed resolution of f.ex. 1024x768 on my main screen I then drag that window over to the screen with the native 1024x168 resolution and try to make it full screen VPC refuses to go fullscreen and pops up the message displayed below and forces me to click on that before.

I can resize the window to something smaller than the target screen before I can make it full screen.  Highly annoying. Why can't it just go to whatever screen resolution the target screen has without nagging me about a few missing pixels?

Sony Vaio Driver For Motion Eye Camera And SD Reader
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ31Z. I installed Windows RC without thinking about that I will loose my Vista Version. As I have no CD. Even when I have the Product Key. So actually I am happy with Windows 7 but I cant re-install the drivers for my SD Card Reader and Motion Eye Webcam. When I try to install it then it tells me that there ist no Vista on my PC. Whats true. But I thought its compatible. How can I install them? What else can I do?

Is there a possibility to get my Vista back? Without a CD? I have the Product Key on the Back of the Laptop.

Screen Dimming In Full Screen Videos
Alright so just recently my screen has been dimming when I stream videos(south park studios, youtube). I have my laptop screen set to dim after three minutes of being inactive, but i thought watching videos was an active process. After five minutes my laptop screen turns off, which is how I have it set for inactive use.

I'm using an Hp dv7t laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit installed.

Maybe this isn't a problem with windows, but a problem with the browser I am using? I'm using the latest version of Firefox.

Full Screen Issue
I run Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro in VirtualBox and it will not go full screen. I used to use Parallels, but Windows 7 was like Molasses in the Arctic. So I switched to VB because my friend suggested it. Now it will not go full screen (for me, 1680x1050). I either get a box in the middle of my screen or I can't see the taskbar.

Is there a way to force Windows to a certain resolution?

Automatic Full Screen
Do any users have a fix to stop the open windows flashing to full screen, when moved up or to the right?

There is currently, on the web, a suggested fix, using the facilities in "Easy access". This only appears to work, at least on my computer, for the current session, and cannot be saved for permanent use.

I can see that the facility is getting some acclaim, but I find it a confounded nuisance!

Full Screen Exits
I'm on Windows 7 (7600) Ultimate and up until about a week ago everything was working pretty good, but now applications exit full screen mode on their own.

It seems to be totally random, I'll be sat watching a movie in Media Player Classic (or WMP/VLC) and it'll just exit from full screen, at no particular time, for no reason that I can find. It does the same thing if I have iTunes playing (with Visualizer) in full screen mode.

As far as I'm aware I haven't changed anything or installed any new software around the time it started happening.

I'd perform a system restore and see if that would help...if "Windows 7 Manager" hadn't deleted them all!

I don't have a screensaver so I it's not that triggering the full screen exit.

Also, I have to use the mouse before the app will respond, I can't simply use Alt+F, not until I've clicked the mouse.

Any ideas please?

Edit: It is also doing something in other apps ie Firefox. I just noticed as I was typing that my cursor disappeared and I had to use the mouse click to get it back.

Cannot Full Screen In Games
My laptop graphic card is ATI mobility radeon HD3650, the resolution of LCD is 1280*800, recently I installed windows 7(7100), and the latest display driver ATI catalyst 9.4 for Windows 7(downloaded from AMD.com).The issue is that my games such as War3 cannot be displayed in full screen. Black rim revolves around the game frame.

I know there is a function about stretching to fit the screen in Catalyst contrl center. But it does not work.

No Full Screen After Hibernation
I have installed Windows 7 professional on my Media Center PC.

It works fine for the big part an is so much more nice to look at and use.

But when my MCE is in hibernation and I turn on the TV and the MCE, then it start in an low screen resolution.

It is not stretched to fill my flat screen. I just close the MCE and Windows 7 is now filling the whole screen and the starting the MCE again resolves in a fine large screen that fills out my tv. Why is that?
