Use OEM Key To Activate Win 7 Volume License Media
I just ordered a new Lenovo Thinkpad R400 with Vista Business preinstalled for personal use. I am still waiting for its delivery and will order the free Windows 7 Business upgrade from Lenovo asap. The company I work for has joined MS Enterprise Agreement and therefore I just got the volume license version of Windows 7 Business. Is it possible to install the Win7 business VL now, and then activate it once I got the Win7 OEM key from Lenovo?

Actually I have installed Windows7 Ultimate on my laptop and I have a volume license key. And it seems, the windows7 activation required windows volume license server to activate. But I am in remote and I could not able to access volume license server available in my office. If I use this key I am getting the error. I there any way that I can use the volume license key on my laptop to validate the product.

Four Different Win 7 Volume License DVDs
I am trying to find an explanation for the two different types of 32-bit / 64-bit Windows 7 volume license DVDs, available from Microsoft's Academic Select / World Wide Fulfillment product list.I am not finding anything searching for these part numbers that clearly explains what the difference is between the "UPG" and "non-UPG" DVDs: FQC-00109 Windows 7 Pro-32 Bit DVD NON 27.00 FQC-00116 Windows 7 Pro-32 Bit Upg DVD NON 27.00 FQC-00110 Windows 7 Pro-64 Bit DVD NON 27.00 FQC-00823 Windows 7 Pro-64 Bit Upg DVD NON 27.00 I suppose I could just buy one of each and then figure out what they are for when I have them, but I see no point in wasting $54 on two 32-bit / 64-bit install DVDs I may not need.,The install path will be from Windows XP 32-bit VLK to Windows 7 KMS (clean install) with Virtual PC / XP-Mode, most likely using Novell ZENworks 10 drive imaging, and most likely using 64-bit wherever possible to be able to fully utilize 4+ gigs of installed RAM without dealing with the "PCI hole" 3 gig limit. We have no Vista machines that I care enough about, to go through the Windows 7 upgrade process.,

Valid License Key With No Access To Media
My company just purchased a new Compaq tower yesterday that came with Windows 7 Home Premium, but the network is still XP pro and so IT used their volume license to format/reinstall the system. I spoke with my boss and he approved me to take the 7 Home Premium license key for my home Compaq laptop because by the time they upgrade to 7 they would use volume licensing for pro anyway, but then when I spoke with IT he said that the system didn't come with any media. Is there any way to get Windows 7 Home Premium Media, or to use the system recovery partition from the desktop to create media that I could then use to perform a fresh install of Windows 7 on my home computer? And is it even legal to do so?

Activate Win 7 Upgrade Using XP Product Key
I am interested in Windows 7 and I am currently running the Windows 7 release candidate. I have in my possession a Windows XP Pro product key. It is not activated on my current computer, due to the fact that it's OEM, and previously activated on an older computer that got fried. If I were to purchace a Windows 7 upgrade package, would I be able to activate it using my XP product key? or would I have to purchase a 'full' version of Windows 7?

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit Evaluation copy Build 7100 installed. I never bothered entering a serial key, however now that it is prompting me to. The keys provided for me through technet are not working. What exactly am I supposed to do? Reinstalling Windows 7 is not an option as I have nearly 200GB of data on this drive that were pulled off a failing (now pooched) hard drive.

I am a student and I recently purchased Windows 7 Professional through the $30 student program. However, I have been running the beta and have heard that there are some issues regarding upgrading from Beta which is the Ultimate edition to a lesser edition (ie Pro). I have access to a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate... but I don't have a genuine key for it, however I do have a genuine windows 7 Pro key. Will the windows 7 Professional key activate windows 7 Ultimate?

Get Win 7 Professional Key But With Oem Disc
I got serial for Windows 7 professional from MSDNAA which my school is part of. I'm allowed to have copy of Windows 7 professional to my personal use. Problem is that our administrator has only activated x86 version of Windows 7 professional and I would need x64 version. I do have the serial key though. If I got serial key for Windows 7 Professional doesn't that apply to both x86 and x64 versions? I've got OEM disk of Windows 7 Professional x64. Does my serial apply if I install OEM version?

Can I Use OEM Win 7 HP Product Key To Install 64-bit OS Off Of Retail Disc ?
I purchased in June a new computer from Dell with a free upgrade to Windows 7. Â I wanted 64-bit but was not given the option. Â I received my 32-bit upgrade disc from Dell. My brother purchased a retail upgrade and so he has both 32-bit and 64-bit upgrade discs. Â I know that I must do a clean install. Â I want to know if I can use his 64-bit disc to run my install but then use my upgrade key from Dell. So in the end I have 64-bit OS using my product key that Dell gave me.

Can A Win 7 N Key Be Used To Install On Non-N Media ?
I have non-N keys and N keys. There are options to download non-N media and N media. I've already downloaded the non-N media, so can I use N keys on the non-N media or will I need to download the N media just to find out? I know the difference between the two being the non-inclusion of WMP and the whole story about the EU, etc.. Just wondering if I can use my N keys on the non-N ISO I have here.

Full Disk To Install Activate Via Upgrade Key
I recently bought the full retail Windows 7 Home Premium, I installed it on my pc and everything is going great. I also have a copy of the upgrade offered to students and a valid key for that. My brother wants to install Windows 7 on his comp (He's running windows vista premium 64) and I was wondering if I could use my Windows 7 installation disk to install it, and then just use the upgrade key to activate it? I want to do a custom (clean) install over windows vista, and then delete the windows.old folder. I don't see a problem and a disk seems easier than that .exe file you get from downloading on digital river, so I was just wondering if it would work.

Activate Windows 7 Build 7600 RTM With An RC Key
i got troubled with activating this new RTM build of windows 7, so i tryed alot of things, then i used the same trick someone used on build 7264 to activate using an RC Key. But the thing that troubled me is that his file had a mistake and didn't copy all, so you had to do alot manually. So i decided to read the files he wrote, learned from it and wrote my own. There is only one downside, the build version in the lower right corner of the screen will appear again. but you could try using a watermark remover. Didn't try it myself cuz the watermark doesn't botter me Ok, here it is how to activate build 7600 in 4 simple stept 1. Download the attachment 2. Extract the rar file 3. Run the install.cmd (make sure to disable UAC or run it as administrator) 4. Activate windows 7 using an RC key (i posted a few below) *Note this one is only for 64 bit version* Windows 7 RC Activation Product Keys: <snip>

Answer File Product Key OEM Installs
We've been doing Vista installs using answer files made with the SIM. Inside each answer file for each version of Vista had it's own different product key that was used to enter during unattended setup. I beleive these keys were provided to OEM's to use for this reason only, and aren't valid keys to activate with. Does anyone know if Windows 7 has these keys available also? Again, these are all OEM loads.

Dell OEM Disk And Retail Product Key Compatibility
From my workplace I have been literally given stacks of Dell OEM (re installation DVDs) Windows 7 Professional disks. I have installed a couple of them on test machines and, naturally, do not pass the WGA. So I'm planning to buy a few 'retail product keys' from eBay to use on my home machines. I was wondering if the retail product keys (Win 7 Pro) will work with the Dell OEM disks. I have done the same thing with a Dell OEM Windows Vista Business re-installation disk and a retail product key bought from online used with a non-Dell computer with no issues (except the Dell logo is embedded in the Control Panel). Has anyone tried this before? Because I don't know if Dell has modified the disks to accept only Dell systems and OEM product keys?

Upgrade From Technet Evaluation License To Retail License
As we know, the technet software is officially for evaluation only. The question is, can the license of a technet-delivered product be upgraded to a full retail license later? In other words, once the full RTM version of Win7 Ultimate is released, if I install it on a box and decide, after an evaluation period, to keep it, can I simply buy a retail copy and upgrade to that license withouth a reinstall? Just to be clear - I'm not talking about Release Candidates, I'm talking about full versions available via technet.

Activate English Version With Spanish Version Key
I am buying a new PC in Spain but want Windows 7 Home Premium in English, which does not seem to be available anywhere here. So my techie guy is downloading an English version (pirate???) and at same time buying a genuine Spanish version. He says he will then use the key code from the Spanish pack to validate the English version. Is this possible, and could I encounter any problems later? How can I be 100% sure (before I leave the shop!) that I have a validated, genuine English version of Windows 7 that will continue to work indefinitely?
