Unknown USB Device When Connecting Samsung F480 Phone
My Samsung F480 mobile phone is not recognized as a working usb device when I connect it to my laptop. I'm running Windows 7, and all my other usb devices work perfectly, except this one.
I have downloaded and installed the appropriate driver package and software (updated as well) over and over, but everytime to the same effect. The usb driver from Samsung does not seem to work under Windows 7, but used to work in Vista.

Verizon Phone, USB Connection Fails - LGE CDMA Device
I have a Verizon LG Phone, ENv2. I purchased the USB Cable and software for the phone so I could copy music and photos from my PC to the phone. Under Vista, when I plugged the phone in, the phone appear in Windows Explorer. Pretty simply. Under Windows 7, It does not appear in Windows Explorer. When looking the the Device Manager, the phone appears under Modems (LGE CDMA USB Modem), Ports (LGE CDMA USB Serial Port COM4) and USB Controllers (LGE CDMA Composite USB Device). It does not appear under Disk Drives, not sure if it should. Fash Drives appear there when I plug them in. When I plug the phone in, the synch screen comes up on the phone and they says Connect Failure. I have tried removing the device drivers and reinstalling from scratch. No success. Any other ideas?

USB Unknown Device Errors
I got a new Dell Studio XPS 13 laptop a week or so back, loaded Windows 7 RC and everything worked fine after a bit of fettling here and there. On Tuesday or Wednesday I had a problem where the laptop locked up while using a Logitech USB Radio mouse. Thinking the mouse caused the lockup, I disconnected it and have been using the touch pad since and no lockups. So far so good. Then today I plugged in a set of Logitech USB headphones for Skype and I got an 'unknown device' error. I tried with other USB items, ADSL modem, memory stick, all had the same problem on both USB ports and nothing I did would solve the problem. Much googling and a search of this forum again came up with nothing I could use. I then had a flash of brilliance - I figured it must have been the mouse that started the problem when the laptop froze and somehow something was blocking the USB useage. I plugged in the mouse whereupon it loaded up the software and worked fine, and now everything else loads up and works OK too! I can't explain it, I'm just a programmer and don't really understand computers but if it helps anyone else in the same frustrating situation, there it is.

Problem Connecting USB Device To XP Mode
I have Windows 7 Enterprise RTM (x64) installed, along with Windows Virtual PC RC and XP Mode RC. I am trying to connect my Humax iPVR-9200c, for which there is (to my knowledge) only a 32-bit Windows XP driver. In my XP Mode Desktop, I have installed the software and driver, and I'm now connecting the device to my laptop with a USB cable, but the device does not show up in the list when I click the USB pulldown menu. I have read elsewhere that I should be able to attach a device to XP Mode, even if I have no driver installed for this device in Windows 7, is this correct? And if so, how come I can't attach it to XP Mode?

Modem Driver Problem / Samsung Rant (M540) Phone
i just installed Windows 7 64bit. I use a Samsung Rant m540 Cell Phone for my Internet connection. I cant get high speed on my road so its alot better than dial up, anyway ive used it for a few years and now i cant seem to get it installed. It works fine on other comps and i had a driver for win xp 64bit that works. I got it installed on the windows 7 and it shows up as the modem and says its working properly but it wont respond when i try to query the modem or connect to the Internet. Im pretty sure i just need a driver for the windows 7 for the phone as modem. But Sprint does not have a driver or program which supports it and neither does Samsung which created the phone. I googled for at least 5 hours with no success ive tried a few different drivers and no luck.

Device Manager Reports Unknown Device & Explorer Crash
How do i figure out what driver or even component windows wants software for when in the device manager under other devices it lists an unknown device and windows update cannot find anything. Oh and is it appropriate for me to use this topic to ask another question regarding explorer.exe as while i am inside a folder i delete (by choosing delete from the context menu in the tree view) while inside that folder on this particular laptop PC explorer. always crashes, collect information, sends it and restarts explorer. I have not experienced this problem on any other pc running any version of windows 7, oh and the same happened with build 7264 x32 and the current install of build 7600 x64.

HP Tx2-1020US Laptop Unknown Device + BSOD
I have an HP tx2-1020US laptop that I just did a clean install of Windows 7 Build 7100 on. So far, things are working pretty well with the exception of 2 issues. First off, under the device manager, I have an 'unknown device' listed. All of the manufacturer, etc. details are unknown. The only piece of info is the hardware id property which is: USBVID_1B96$PID_0001&REV_0000&MI_02 USBVID_1B96&PID_0001&MI_02 Thus far, I have not been able to find any components which are not working and I have no external USB devices connected to the system. Any ideas how I would go about figuring out what device this is and finding a driver for it? Then, the second issue is that every time I restart or shutdown the system, it flashes a BSOD. It then reboots without any problems and gives me the windows startup screen asking if I want to use safe mode or boot normally. If I boot normally, Windows gives me a pop-up saying the previous shut down was unexpected, but not other details. I have checked the logs and there is nothing in any of the Windows event logs. The BSOD screen lists no driver, dll, or sys file, simply the following string of hex codes. STOP: 0x0000003B (0x00000000C0000046, 0XFFFFF80002A82C4C, 0xFFFFF88008070080, 0X0000000000000000) I found reference to the first 0x0000003Bcode in google relating to video issues, but I have the latest 64-bit Windows 7 driver installed from ATI already. So, can anybody offer any further translation of these codes?

HP Dv3 Notebook - Unknown Device - Value = ACPI HPQ004
Code 28 (not installed). That makes sense. "Location: on PCI bus" "No conflicts" and always turns up in a hardware PnP scan after deleting it. Update driver does nothing (not surprised). IRQ=23 (0x17). Device value=ACPIHPQ004 smells like ACPI but my Power Management is working perfectly. Yes, I tried googling. HP support site is not yet aware of Windows 7. Any ideas for experimenting? I am a software developer by profession and a hardware installer for fun. So, wild experimental ideas are most welcome.

Icons In Device Manager Issue After Installation Of USB Device Drivers
We had a (small) issue when installing our USB device driver on Windows 7 RC. I downloaded the newest WDK, created and signed with Authenticode a new cat file including the new OS, and built a simple installer for installing the drivers. We used the recommended functions like CryptCATAdminAcquireContext, CryptCATAdminAddCatalog, CryptCATAdminReleaseCatalogContext and CryptCATAdminReleaseContext as well as SetupCopyOEMInf. We created a new device class and therefore the drivers appeared in the device manager as "unknown devices". We added the registry keys for displaying the mini icon for "USB devices". This worked pretty well on Vista64. Using the same installer script on Windows 7 (64-bit) still showed the "unknown devices" in the device manager. As we have to prepare now our installers to be compatible with Windows 7 and we need to know if this is a bug or if there exists a workaround.

ITunes / IPhone / IPod Error 0xE8000065 When Connecting Via USB
all sorts of people including myself are having issues when connecting an iPhone or iPod into a Win 7 PC. Note that other operating systems have been having issues as well according to some posts. There are too many variables to nail down an exact cause but everything seems to be pointing to the P55 chipset, Windows 7, or iTunes 9. I posted here because people logically assume its iTunes and the fact is no one really knows. I was able to get my iPod to sync by purchasing a new USB PCI card. I have even switched to the cable to a motherboard USB port and the iPod syncs. As soon as I remove the card, no more sync. I ran a free tool call USBDeview which shows you all the USB drivers installed on the PC. All the drivers show a device type listed except two: Apple Mobile Device USB Driver and MTP USB Device. These two drivers show "Still Imaging" in the Device Type column. Perhaps there is a conflict and the correct driver isn't interfacing with the device properly? Finally, the wierdest symptom of all: I have a powered Belkin USB hub that I plugged into a motherboard USB port. As soon as I plug the iPod into the hub, the computer goes into hibernate mode and shuts down. If I wake it back up, it shuts right down again after all the USB devices (including the iPod) reactivate.

Computer Disables All USB Devices When I Plug In A USB Device.
My Computer Disables All USB Devices When I Plug In a USB Device. For example, when I plug in my USB Flash Drive or Apple Ipod Classic, my USB keyboard, USB mouse, and other USB devices cease to work. I have tried restarting the computer and have even went as far as to reinstall the Windows 7 Beta Operating System onto my computer, with no luck. I had Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit before I installed Windows 7, and I have never had this problem.

USB Device Not Recognized On Win 7 - USB Mouse
I have a 4 week old Inspiron 1545 with Windows 7 Home premium that has developed an error: USB errors while trying to install a Microsoft USB mouse on this Laptop. Interestingly, my Microsoft USB Mouse installed perfectly first time and worked for about 2 weeks, and then failed. In looking at the system restore points, it tells me that there have been two driver updates to the USB environment since the unit was shipped from Dell. I wonder if an automatic update from Microsoft has somehow inadvertently updated or replaced a Dell factory driver. Two nights ago I spent 45 minutes with Dell tech support doing remote control bug fixing on this laptop. They werent able to fix it (in the time allowed). They downloaded at least one of their newest drivers onto this machine and rebooted it - and they seemed pretty savvy - but still not working. So I went ahead a did a system restore to a point about 10 days back because I could see that a USB driver would be affected (as shown in the system restore menus), and I would like to compliment Microsoft on this very cool functionality! At this point, I've unplugged the USB mouse, used the Device Manager to delete the 'unknown device', and done a system restore back to what I suspected was a working point. But still getting a 'Device not recognized' warning every few minutes, and still don't have a working mouse. I don't want to have to do system restores back to pprevious dates, although I suspect this is one solution.

Belkin N Wireless USB Not Connecting To Belkin G Router
Belin N Wireless Adapter f5d8053 v3 Belkin G router f5d7234-4 v3 I recently just bought a dell inspiron 545 which has windows 7 64 bit included. I have my Belkin USB Adapter installed and when I look at my connections it has a strong signal to the old network I used on my last computer which ran xp. Everytime I try and connect it says that it cannot establish a connection. I do not have the router software if it did come with a disc I have looked everywhere and the only file on belkin.com is the firmware, will this work in replace of the software? I read that you do not need the software to configure the router so how do I go about doing this, I read the manual and it said to have my IP's automatically obtained which they are on both.

USB Device Not Recognised
I have a new computer running Windows 7 Home Premium and a new laptop with the same o/s. I have a new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX150 and an old Canon camera. According to Panasonic the driver for their camera is incorporated in 7. I tried the canon and there was no problem downloading. The Lumix down loads perfectly on the laptop without any drivers being added. When I try to download the Lumix to the computer all I get is "one of the usb devices has malfunctioned and windows does not recognise it" When I check the message it says "Unknown device. (check connections) If windows still does not recognise it replace the device" Why does it work with the laptop and not the computer? Panasonic are no help once I said it worked on the laptop.
