Student Version Product Key
This isn't something I'd do necessarily, but in theory would I be able to install Windows 7 Home Premium RTM (x86 or x64) and then use a legit product key from, for example the $30 student edition? I'd think it'd work, because the only thing different from the $30 edition and the full ~$200 edition is the price. It's the same OS otherwise. I ask also because what if I lose the ISO / burned disc of the digital download that's found here: http://www.win741.com/ ? The product key I'd be getting with the $30 Home Premium would be legit, so I don't see why it wouldn't work.
Are student edition product keys VLKs? I'm not proud of this nor am I condoning it, but when I needed a copy of XP Pro I obtained via torrent. It was Windows XP Professional Student Edition, and the key was a VLK. Is that the same with Windows 7 keys when sold as a student edition?

Student Upgrade - Product Key
My problem is that I have a desktop with Windows XP installed. For Christmas I decided to purchase the Windows 7 offer as a Student off Microsoft. My hard drive however, was rather small so it suggested upgrading hard drive and because I was upgrading from XP I had to do a clean installation. Because it said this I assumed I could just install it onto my new hard drive and type in the product key that I purchased! However, when I tried to enter my product key it stated that the key was only to be used for Upgrades and not clean installations..even though I would of had to do a clean installation on my old hard drive. I do not have an installation disk for my windwos XP so I am struggling to find a way to activate my Windows 7 on my PC! And its going to expire in 20days and I have Uni work to do and pending examinations! I am not able to purchase a new product key as it will cost too much, and seems as I have both an XP and Windows 7 liscnse I dont see why I should have to pay more.

Canadian Student Digital River Download Product Key
I downloaded from Digital River yesterday with the student discount, and had the same problem as everyone else "unboxing" the download. I used the fix that's been circling round the forums and have got it installed and working. The only thing I'm missing is a product key. Wasn't Digital River supposed to give me one in my confirmation email? I've received nothing of the sort, and would really like to activate this product I've purchased. I have product keys from previous versions of Windows that I've bought, but the machine I installed Windows 7 on was using Linux as its main operating system. Any thoughts?

Product Key Error - Invalid Key For This Version Of Windows
Just successfully installed Win 7(RC) on a partition I created on a Vista(32-bit) Home Premium machine,so now I've set up a dual-boot. Anyways,as I am going to enter the product key that was given with my download it's giving me an "invalid key for this version of Windows" error. And along the process of identifying the cause,I realized I've installed a "Home Premium" version of the RC download;is this how it's supposed to be? This RC,a Home Premium version? Just want to verify because on the Computer's property page it's saying it's only a "30-day eval copy". How am I going to get another product key for this version of th RC?For what I've read through forums, this RC is supposed to be an Ultimate version? Anybody?

Upgrade From Win XP / Vista To Win7: Product Key Language Version
We currently run 3 PCs at home (all 32 bit): PC 1: German Windows Vista Home Premium PC 2 & 3: English Windows XP Home I'd like to purchase the Windows 7 family pack (English) to upgrade all of the PCs (clean install preferred). Questions: 1. Can all 3 PCs be upgraded to the English version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit with the family pack, despite the different language versions? 2. When performing a clean install, is it sufficient to enter the product key of the previously installed system when using the upgrade disk/key or is the old system required on the harddisk? 3. Just to confirm: The family pack comes with both, the 32 bit and 64 bit version for Windows 7 Home Premium?

Activate English Version With Spanish Version Key
I am buying a new PC in Spain but want Windows 7 Home Premium in English, which does not seem to be available anywhere here. So my techie guy is downloading an English version (pirate???) and at same time buying a genuine Spanish version. He says he will then use the key code from the Spanish pack to validate the English version. Is this possible, and could I encounter any problems later? How can I be 100% sure (before I leave the shop!) that I have a validated, genuine English version of Windows 7 that will continue to work indefinitely?

Student And Faculty 32-bit Upgrade Version To 64-bit
I recently purchased a copy of Win 7 Ultimate upgrade for Student and Faculty under the Microsoft Student Select program. Unfortunately at the time they did not specify whether it was the 32 bit or the 64-bit version and my understanding was that upgrade version included both 32 and 64 bit versions. When I received it, it was the 32-bit version only. My question is this; 1)Is there a 64-bit version of the Win 7 Ultimate upgrade for student and faculty? 2)Are the product codes interchangeable between the 32/64 bit versions (I read in a thread they were for the retail versions, was not sure this applied to Student and Faculty version) 3)How I can get a hold of the 64-bit version? As the operating of the programme says they only have the 32-bit version.

Product Key Does Not Match
I am loading windows7 64bit basic on an atom PC with a solid state drive. Getting a message "product key does not match current windows sku" at the end of the install. This is my 2nd attempt to load windows7 basic on this PC. I have downloaded the ISO from MSDN, used IMGBURN to burn the DVD. Used two different dvd drives. Get the same invalid product key message each time. I was able to load another PC with Windows7 from this same DVD. The difference being I loaded 64bit Windows7 ultimate. Another difference is I am using a USB dvd drive to load the Atom PC. I have tried 2 different product keys issued from the MSDN site. Each time I do the install I delete existing partitions. why is my product key not being accepted?Â

Acquiring New Product Key
" Meanwhile, RC's downloads are still available. You can get the release candidate download until August 20, 2009. After that, you won't be able to get the download, but if you have the software, you can still install the RC and get a key if you need one. (Keys will be available till March 2010. To get a key, just go to the Downloads page and follow the instructions.) "This from " Microsoft (Microsoft@newsletters.microsoft.com) Sent:29 July 2009 02:48:54 I ran the beta, and then the release candidate 7100, from April or May '09.The x64 Ultimate, But during November I started getting repeated Shutdown & restarts, and Blue Screens, and eventually traced the problems to my MB's USB Controller. On 31/12/2009, I bought a cheap BCS MB with an AMD Athlon 3200+ pre-installed (the same processor that was in my original 2004 box!); and rebuilt, using my old memory, PSU, Hard drives and PCI Cards etc. I couldn't find my original disk on which I had written my code no.; so I installed Vista x64, found my original ISO on my USB backup drive, burnt it, reformatted and re-installed RC 7100.Everthing is working fine. Better than my original installation.   My son will be getting a bunch of Win7 Ultimates in March, and I would like to keep this OS running until then. Can you point me to where the promised activation keys are held, otherwise I will have to get "Windows 7 HomePremium".

Product Key Registration
Great Problem providing Product Key registration. After 32 attempts I have had to give up. Frustrated, following all the shown options. Copy and paste tells me that it may take a few minutes - then up comes timed out. Phone dial up takes me to a French speaking automated system, trying the UK numbers given will not allow me entry. I do not have a suitable modem connection! I do not wish to lose this probably best Microsoft ever system.

Product Key Problem
I am attempting to install the Windows7 Release Candidate on a Toshiba G50 laptop. Everything goes well until I reach the First Use stage. When I respond to the instruction to enter the Product Key for the Vista Ultimate operating system that is installed on the omputer, I get a message saying "Invalid Product Key". It is ABSOLUTELY the product key on the sticker on the base of the computer. Can anyone offer me advice about what to do next? Is there a way to have the computer tell me what the product key of the installed software is?
