I have set all of the options for autoplay to "Do nothing" but when I plug in a USB hard drive I still get the pop up which says "searching for content" Is there any way to shut that thing off?
View 8 RepliesI have a problem with the autoplay, USB and card reader are fine however when using either music CD, or DVD or software CD the autoplay doesn't kick in, when I browse the disk and select autoplay manualy it will start, I have set up everything in my autoplay setting in the control panel (including the check mark on the top), still nothing. I have window 7 home premium. I should point out that the drive is Bluray drive, also this autoplay hasn't worked from the very begining, since the laptop is new, it's very frustrating, I can't find any drivers for the device on ASUS site.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI bought a Asus U36J laptop back in April of last year and ever since then I have been beating around an issue that I dont seem to be able to resolve one way or the other. When ever the laptop is on battery and in battery saving mode it has my taskbar on autohide. If I turn that off, then it stays off right until it is put back into battery saving mode at which point it is "magically" ticked on again.
Is there no way to simply disable that feature, as its annoying me greatly. I know its tied into the battery saving desktop, and I want to keep the battery saving desktop but want a full taskbar all the time. I found a supposed fix to make that happen, and while it actually makes the taskbar appear all the time, it still is a bad hack as any windows I have open wont "attach" to the taskbar but attaches to the buttom of the screen.
So for the love of god is there no sane way for me to keep the battery saving desktop but get rid of the autohiding taskbar. Otherwise I know Asus most likely wont be my laptop of choice next time aroumd.
I just bought a computer with windows 7 64 bit. This is my first experience with 7 and 64 bit. I needed to download java so selected the 64 bit version of 6 update 18. I went to control panel and opened java to turn off automatic updates but there is no update tab. Is this have to do with 64 bit? Do I need the 32 bit? How do I stop auto updates?

I have a Linksys WUSB600N wireless network adapter. I used it in Vista using Linksys's driver for it, and it worked great. Now Windows 7 has installed it's own driver for it and... well, the driver sucks. Frequent connection drops, bad signal strength, etc etc. I've been trying to uninstall the driver Windows installed and get the Linksys one, but no matter what I do it always reinstalls the driver as soon as it detects the device again after I uninstall it.
I've searched around this forum and tried many things... setting Windows Update not to automatically install drivers, using safe mode, etc etc, nothing works. Windows is being particularly stubborn about wanting to install it's own horrible driver.
I use D3DOverrider, and I have it set to start with Windows. The problem is that UAC prompts me to allow it on every startup. How do I give it the privileges it needs for UAC to leave it alone?

I used to have my two external HDD's connected to the old system configuration but now at startup, when it gets to Auto-Detecting External HDD's it takes for ever to do anything. I have to unplug them, then do a reboot and all is fine, but then have to plug them back in again.
I know from reading some post's that it's in the BIOS startup sequence but I'm not quite sure where and what to change in the startup.
In the BIOS Boot Device Priority I have: 1st - Floppy Drive, 2nd - [3M-ST3200800AS], 3rd - [ATAPI CD-ROM], 4th - [Disabbled].
I am on an HP G60 notebook with Windows 7 64 bit home premium. SP1 was installed if that helps. It cannot read devices such as ipods,sd cards are the 2 types I have tried. Getting really frustrating. Cannot connect my i pod to load to itunes or the sd card to get pics to computer.

Coming from XP I wasn't familiar with Autoplay & it popped up all the time so I read on the MS website that it could be disabled, which I did, hoping that when I inserted a DVD or attached my camera I would get a wizard or a 'run' box/instructions of some sort but nothing happened. I don't mind autoplay, it's not that I want it disabled. I just want it to remember my choice. I always choose 'open explorer to view files' but the choice is forgotten next time, and there's no checkbox to remember it. Found this tool for XP, might it work on 7?

Both are Home Premium Versions.On my HP Envy, USB recognizes, the camera, AutoPlay opens so I can select my action and I can also browse the memory card in Windows Explorer.On my HP DM4, USB recognizes the camera, but no AutoPlay on any USB port. The laptop has two powered USB 3 ports (for charging devices when the computer is off) and two USB 3 unpowered ports. I have the WD HD plugged into one of the powered ports and every time I start the computer the autoplay comes up asking what I want to do with the WD drive.I want to keep the autoplay function (opening CD, DVD, Photo files (which I do often)) but I want to stop this opening with my HD when I turn on the computer. They don't start automatically in auto-play to load, and my reading of the file labels in the CD makes no sense to me.
So, with the CD in the drive just sitting there, what do I do to actually get the PC to recognize the Drivers in the Folder(s), and load them in the appropriate places ?
