Screen Becomes Corrupted And Logon Screen Changed Color

This is so strange. My screen resolution is corrupted and my logon screen changed from Green to Blue.

Steps:
1) Using Office Word 2007, Outlook 2007, IE 8 Beta, and Live Messenger on Windows 7
2) Pressed Ctrl + Alt + Delete to lock my computer

Observation:
1) Screen is corrupted (resolution becomes 640 x 480 from 1280 x 800 and colors become 16 bits)
2) Logon screen is now Blue instead of Green

I was able to change the resolution of the screen. However, still don't know how to switch my logon back to Green color.

Enable - On Resume, Display Logon Screen For Screen Saver
I'm creating a Windows 7 Image using the AIK. I been using Audit Mode to install my applications.  I've created a custom power scheme so that the computer will not hibernatesleep while I'm in Audit Mode. My question is I would like to enable the checkbox to require a password to bring the computer out of a screensaver mode during the OOBE pass or via the SetupComplete.cmd.

Upon Startup, Black Screen With Mouse, No Logon Screen
Okay, I did my research, but it hasn't helped.  I've tried:

1.  F8, enable low resolution video (didn't work)

2.  F8, safe mode (didn't work)

3.  F8, last known good (didn't work)

4.  Startup repair (didn't work) Anybody got other ideas?

I can't login at all as I don't ever get a login screen.

Screen Resolution Has Changed
Screen resolution has changed. This is the second time has happened. The first time, it came
good after sending feedback about it. My preferred ratio for 19" WS is 1440 x 900 but is no
longer available, and is now 1680 x 1050, hard to read but is the only ratio that displays
square icons and round clock. Have tried Magnifier and Change size of text but is not a
preferred fix. Can you please help.

Driver:  Generic Non-PnP Monitor.

Screen Resolution Just Changed Itself
i was browsing away happily when my screen flashed. it went blank and when it came back on, it was @ 1024x768 or something like that. it's a 30" dell monitor and should be running @ 2560x1600.i went to control panel and screen res and it detected that it could handle 2560. tried to change it, screen flashed and went back to 1024. strangely, it asked me if i wanted to keep my setting - as if it worked. it (for some insane reason) recommended i run @ half res - 1280x800.

changing to that worked i tried the catalyst control centre (i have 8.12) and that did the same thing. had to reboot. once that happened it booted normally. as in running at the correct screen res. hasn't happened before and i have been running this as my main PC since i installed it a few days ago (32-bit)the gpu is a 2400XT btw running via dual link DVI

I was using Win 7 for last few days. Since a fresh installation had compatibility issues with intel turbo memory driver, i had to upgrade a working vista installation. After the upgrade, everything was running fine and boot screen was original windows 7. After few shutdowns and restarts, I found that the boot screen is now vista like..win7 one is gone! Can anybody point how to revert back to original one?

Black Screen Instead Of Logon Screen
I use the bios selection to boot from either drive A or B.I use Windows dual-boot menu on drive B to select between Vista and 7RC.

The black screen problem was first observed with both the 32-bit and the 64-bit versions of the Beta distributed at the Installation Festival. I had taken only one monitor to the festival and everything appeared to be working fine then. Once home, I noticed that I had no sound. I downloaded drivers for my SPXFI card and got sound but, got the black screen on reboot. I asumed that the SB driver was the cause. I had configured the Display on DVI 2 as my main display.

I then tried the 32-bit version with the same results. I had purchased a brand new 1TB drive for my Win 7 experimentation. I had disabled my main drive (A) throught the BIOS for installation. I hastily concluded that W7 was not quite ready for my system. I installed Vista Home Premium on my B drive using the same method and everything worked fine.

When RC was announced, I downloaded the 64-bit version, created a partition on my B drive and installed it there while my A drive was disabled from the BIOS. Installation went fine but I encountered the same black screen problem on the final reboot. However, I observed the odd disk activity and did not want to turn of the computer while this was going on. I tried Ctrl-Alt-Delete and other things and managed to get some voice from the computer.

I had activated the Access functionality from the invisible logon screen. I did another Ctrl+Alt+Delete, typed my password and followed by Enter. The monitor connected to DVI 1 immediately came on. I did not have a menu bar because I had specified the other monitor as my primary one. A right-click on the screen brought up the contextual menu, from which I selected Personalize > Display > Change display settings.

Clicking the "Detect" button turned on the second monitor. I plan on altering my connection so that my main display will be on DVI 1 instead of 2. In the mean time, I will blind-type my password and restore the settings.

Resetting Color Profile On Screen Flash
I'm running Windows 7 release version (though this also happened in the RC version) and have a custom ICC/ICM profile that I'm loading for the display. The profile was generated using a Spyder 2 and seems to have no issues in itself, however things like screen blanks and UAC warnings seem to reset the display (LUT) to defaults (ie: I lose my color management).

The odd thing is it initially starts with the correct profile on reboot, but a few seconds later resets to the default unmanaged state.

At first I was using the ColorVisionStartup to load the ICC/ICM profile, however since Windows 7 now supports color management out of the box, I made it do the load (or tried to at first - it appears I had to create a second profile using the Windows 7 tools before it would let me use mine, which was kind of curious, but whatever). I've since disabled the ColorVisionStartup.

Anyway, regardless of how I load the profile, it still resets on screen blanks, UACs, reboots (after a few seconds of being correct), etc. Apparently this was a Vista issue as well (since corrected) and others have also now seen the Windows 7 problem (see bottom comments):

http://neosmart.net/blog/2007/windows-vistas-gamma-table-bug/

I'm using a Toshiba Netbook NB205. The graphics driver is an Intel 945 Express and it's using the latest Intel Windows 7 "beta" driver 8.15.10.1825. I don't have a terribly good reason to be sure one way or another, but I suspect it may be an interaction between the "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Mobile" tool (which you can't uninstall without taking the driver with it) and the Windows 7 color management.

I don't however think it's entirely particular to the Intel driver because it sounds like others using different drivers are having issues as well, though perhaps it's related.

Couple of odd things:

On reboot it starts with the right profile (at least id did in RC) and then switches back to default quickly.

I can't even get the profile to load without creating another profile and switching between the two (that is, make switch the default to the wrong one, then switch the default to the right one). Telling it to manually reload the profile doesn't help.

The system is full updated and otherwise works without issue. It's just a PIA to lose my color everytime.

Corrupted Login Wecome Screen - User Account Control Box Displays
The W7 RC booting "Starting Windows" splash screen (showing the color dots/win logo) is good, then the next screen showing the user login welcome with the light blue background is corrupted and then once you are past that its good again. The same thing happens on shut down, as you pass through that screen its corrupted. Whenever I need administrator rights for something and the dialog pops up the screen is corrupted again, I click "yes" in the corrupted screen and I am back to a faultless screen.

I have also noticed that if you right click on the desktop quickly after reactivating the screen from sleep? (blanked out), you also get a corrupted pop up box. If you wait a second or so before right clicking on the desktop its nice and clear. I noticed that with my old Office2000 the assistant "Clippy" is displayed with a pick background instead of a transparent one.  Not that I use it, I mention it in case it tells you something.

W7 RC runs fine, no issues other then this display oddities. I have tried changing the drivers for the video card. no difference *I had the beta version running previously on the same video card, and monitor (although it was a different motherboard and processor back then) and did not have any problems, so really am thinking its not the video card. Other people have also noticed the same thing, so I',m not the only one.

I was reading about how the boot up screen has a minimum resolution of 1024x768 so I tried changing the login screen to a higher resolution picture and it improved that although not perfect. However that may be a clue. The ( UAC)User Account Control box is the worst and is mostly unreadable.

Dell Latitude D610 Screen Color Obscured When Going To Battery
I have a D610 with almost all original hardware and only the soundcard drivers from Dell. The graphics chipset is a:

Adapterbeschreibung    Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family

if I pull out the power supply plug, the colors turn very light and one can't see almost nothing but white.

Where can I put a screen shot or give feedback?

Login Screen Resolution, 480x600 And 16 Bit Color Issue
After installing windows 7 when i turn on the computer the login screen comes up in a VGA resolution, 480x600 and 16 bit color. This puzzles me because when i log on it goes back to my native resolution of 1280x800.

Another strange thing is when i log off or do switch user it remains at the native resolution. The problem only seems to arise when i restart or start up the computer. I'm sure there is a simple solution for this but i have tried myself to fix the problem but i have had no success.

Is There A Logon Screen Screensaver ?
In XP & Vista a Windows screensaver would turn on after a short while if the system was left on the user[s] log-in screen. At least with my installation of Windows 7 RC1, this does not appear to be the case. if left on that screen, nothing ever happens. Is this WAD? And, if so, is there any way to turn it on?

No Screensaver On Logon Screen
My wife and I each have user accounts and we "Switch User" back and forth all the time, and sometimes leave it at the logon screen with our two icons to click on.

In XP, the screensaver would run on the logon screen, but I'm noticing that nothing happens from the logon in 7. We have use the photo screensaver which makes it a digital picture frame of sorts, but if you leave it at the logon, you'll come back an hour later to see our two icons waiting for you.

Has the screensaver on logon been removed or is there a configuration I'm missing?

Customize Welcome / Logon Screen
Has anyone found a way to change the "Welcome" screen without downloading a "fix" from the inet?

I've tried creating a jpeg (the correct size) in windowssystem32oobeinfoackgrounds (saved as defaultBackground) and making a chage in the registry to:

HKLM>Software>Microsoft>Windows>Current Version>Authentication>LogonUI>Background... Key OEMBackground value 1 ... but to no avail.

What is interesting is that the original MS background file ((bitmap) in system 32oobe) that is the welcome screen has security permissions on it .... with Adminstrators only having Read/Read and Execute ONLY... O.O

TrustedInstaller has full rights to it .

Any suggestions?

Black Screen Of Death On Logon
you guys wouldn't know a fix for a Windows 7 RTM Ultimate every time they logon its a black screen but they can see the logon screen until it goes to the desktop. I'm pretty sure its the video card driver or the video card itself.

Computer Type: Desktop

Video Card Type: ATI Radeon 4870

Works in safe mode with internet

Alt Ctrl Del works but doesn't show taskmanager Cannot logout only shutdown.

Fresh install (today)

Tried reinstalling the vista driver and then the windows 7 driver.

I heard something about BIOS could be a factor but i don't think so.
