Samsung Dvd-rom SD-616F Drivers
when the installation stars automatically, after select idiom & country, the setup program ask for driver for the dvd device, I´ve selected the folder in c:windows/system32/drivers because the actual windows xp works perfect with the dvd device, but the installation program can´t find the driver, i´ve also downloaded the driver for the specific device and still nothing. my device is a Samsung dvd-rom SD-616F

DVD / CD-ROM - Round 4
I am running Win7 Beta and so far, I like it better than any previous Windows OS. I have a problem though, one big enough to make me want to go back to XP (until this is fixed) My liteon lh-20a1s DVD burner will not read discs. Oh it works 1 time out of 25, but there is no way to figure out what it will or will not read. I don't have any problems with the drive in XP. Windows does not recognize most DVDs or Audio CDs (or any CDs for that matter) I've tried the removing iTunes thing, the deleting GearASPIWMD from the computer, and about a dozen other possible fixes. The error I receive is this: (copied from DVDDecrypter) "Device Not Ready (No Reference Position Found) I have a feeling that the problem is with the SATA driver Windows is using, because the drive is constantly referred to as SCSI. I have verified that all my raid options are disabled in Bios, and the only drives in the computer are this Sata DVD burner, and a 500GB Seagate SATA HD Can anyone help me? I would like to listen to my new CDs!

DVD/CD ROM Drive Issue
I upgraded from Vista Home Premium to Windows 7. Sometimes my DVD/CD ROM drive is there and the next minute it's not. I worked with Acer Tech Support and they had me do multiple changes. Besides the driver problem, the shutdown process is broken as well. It takes a very long time to shut down. When I boot up I get an error message that says windows has recovered from an unsuccessful shut down.

Reads DVD RW Drives As ROM (Read Only)
I have 2 Samsung DVDRW's SH-S182D (IDE) SE-S204N (USB) When I boot windows, they come up listed as DVD-RW in explorer however Win7 does not treat them as writable DVD drives and the burn program comes up blank. When looking at the underlying driver it is simply cdrom.sys (from 2006 no doubt). I tried turning off driver signing but to no avail. Any other suggestions?

DVD ROM Drive Disabled In Win 7
When I go to my computer it has a 'BD-ROM Drive' but my DVD-ROM/CD-ROM drive does not appear. I tried putting a CD but nothing happens. Under device manager I have a CD-ROM drive enabled but below that is 'PBDS DVD+-RW DS-8W1P ATA Device which when I click says this device is disabled (Code 22). I try to click 'enable device' but when I go through the troubleshooting wizard is says windows cannot enable the device. Can anybody help me? I just want to upgrade my Windows 7 Beta 7022 to 7048 but can't do it without my CD-Rom drive. I want to get his fixed but if I cant would I be able to upgrade Windows 7 from Vista (I'm running a dual-boot) or will that write over my Vista partition?

Lagging Issue Related To Dvd Rom
My win7 lags if I do not have a cd or dvd in my dvd rom. These lags comes at intervals of about 1-2 sec and lasts about 1/10-1/100 of a sec, and are rarely visible though quite audible observable (you can hear cracks every 1-2 sec). The strange thing is, this is no problem when I have a cd or dvd in my dvd rom player. One other strange glitch is that my dvdrom keeps popping open on irregular intervals. This has been an issue on win7 distributions 7000 AND 7077. My machine is a Dell Latitude D820.

DVD / CD ROM Drive Not Read Or Eject The Disc
I got an ASUS M50VM laptop, the laptop is 6 months old and works flawlessly on XP or Vista, used both intensively for at least 3 months. I got a serious DVD/CD-ROM drive problem with windows 7, same behavior on both 32-bit and 64-bit version of the OS. What happens is when I insert any CD or DVD into the drive, it might work for about 5 minutes, after 5 minutes the drive continues to spin at maximum speed but it can no longer read or eject the disc inside, it seems that it is no longer able to initialize the disc in the drive therefore Windows Explorer or rebooting the laptop just hangs forever. I am forced to cold reboot the laptop and eject the disc while the machine is in the booting process. I made sure that I got the latest firmware from Asus, the DVD/CD-ROM driver in device manager is the following: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T50N ATA Device ..

Action Pack Install Problem (CD / DVD-ROM Driver)
It is definitely a common problem. Unfortunately, the two machines I'm having the issue with do not have the ability in CMOS to switch between ATA/AHCI mode. I have also tried the Vista driver fix, as well as the (remarkably stupid as it may seem, I got this desperate) jumper switching on the DVD-drive. This is using the MS Action pack ISO from the partner website and burned to disc at the lowest speed using Nero, MagicISO, PowerISO and W7 RC's ISO Burner. I'm trying a second download, but as that's already going to take another 2 hours, I was hoping someone might have come up with a better solution. If anyone has any ideas, I'd be eternally greatful. I fell in love with the RC, and now the FULL version won't install correctly?

CD-ROM Drivers Corrupted After Using Virtual Drive
After using a virtual CD-ROM drive in Windows 7 RC, my physical CD drives disappeared in My Computer. Even after I uninstalled the virtual drive software, the drives would not show up. Under the device manager, they are listed under unknown devices. in the properties dialog box it says that the drivers are corrupted. I also tried to update the drivers, but it said that the drivers were already installed. does anyone know how to fix this? maybe some one could post a link to where I could download the original drivers that came with the RC.

Samsung DVD/CD Burner Burning Failed
I had a fairly new Samsung DVD/CD burner which would read under Windows 7 but burning failed in all apps after I upgraded from Vista. No new firmware. I decided to replace it with newer drive but it did the same thing.  Since the DVD was the only thing attached to a Marvell SATA RAID controller I went searching for new drivers for the SATA controller. Sure enough they just published one and now everything is working. Of course I have a perfectly working drive sitting on the shelf but at least I can burn.

Asus DVD Or Samsung CD Driver Errors
I use an Intel D845 main board with an Intel Pentium 4 2.8GHz and 2 Gigs of RAM for testing. If I remember correctly I and run XP PRO then Vista Business 32 with no problems. Now I have Windows 7 beta and I cannot use my Asus DVD or Samsung CD, they show in hardware manager with driver errors but if I try to update my drivers Win 7 tells me I have the latest drives installed. Okay so now I want to try Windows RC, I boot from DVD no problem except it cannot find any hard drive to install to. I think the problem is cause by the fact that the hard drive is SATA and the DVD/CD is IDE. Is there a work around for this?
