Samsung Clx 3160fn Cannot Scan To Network Applications
I have a Samsung clx 3160fn multifunction printer. After installing Windows 7, I am unable to scan my desktop or applications over my home network. I ran the compatibility troubleshooter and it reports the network scan as an incompatible application. Any suggestions?

Samsung CLX-3160FN will not print landscape with Office 2010, worked fine with Office 2007. My printer goes into landscape, but reverts when you proceed with next step to printing. I now cannot print envelopes or any Excel documents that require the landscape position.Â

Networking Printer Samsung Clx 3170
It was compatible with windows vista ultimate as a network printer but now. I lost the printer  I manually over rode the installer for the drivers and set it up to be compatible with vista, and I have nothing...still  I am running the 64 bit edition with the 64 bit edition drivers...Â

Applications Over The Network
I have applications that run over the network when a user has write access to the directory, but won't even open if they don't have write access. The users can run the apps if they are copied to the local computer. This problem doesn't occur if the user is running windows xp. My development tool is visual studio 2005. I can't run the program through the IDE under regular user rights either. Any ideas?

Applications Accessing Network Slowdown
I've noticed that sometimes some apps I'm using slow to a crawl when they're accessing a network over the LAN. The share is on a non-Windows NAS. The problem does not always happen, but when it does it seems to be related to having multiple apps access the network simultaneously. The apps aren't accessing the same folders in the shares, however. The symptoms of the slowdown are that Windows seems to think the app is not responding (it greys the app's window), but if I wait a bit it does respond. I did not see this behavior in Vista. I'm running x64, if it matters.

Cannot Display Page, Applications Have No Network Connection
I recently started to have an issue where I cannot access the internet on my PC. The network shows as connected and I can ping and tracert websites and IP's succesfully, but Firefox, IE, Windows Live Messenger and any other application cannot get connectivity. I have tried starting in Safe mode with networking and still have the same problem. I have reset and bypassed my router and tried a direct connection to modem after a reset and still the same issue. I can connect no problems with another computer on this network and right now I am able to access the internet using Windows XP Mode in Windows Virtual PC. Any suggestions?

Installing Applications Setup.exe From Network Server
I have an application I need to install from a server. When I try to use the Install programs from the network, W7 will not allow me to search for the setup.exe. I can start the install by using the explore. I have found out that when doing install of apps from network if you are not Admin on network will not execute setup.exe. If you are just a user doing install of app you will be asked where the setup.exe is on network. When searching W7 will not list logical network share drive, you have to connect using \server namesharefoldersetup.exe. How can you get W7 to recognize logical drives using Install programs option?

Is Network Protocol Drivers Related Applications Supported By Windows PE 3.0 / 2.0 ?
I developed an app which works with network protocol drivers(based on NDISProt 6.0 protocol driver sample in WDK). It really works on Winodws 7 for senging or receiving ethernet packets. For some reasons, I want to apply it to Windows PE environment.I have tried a lot on installing this app on PE, and now, the app can send packets successfully(These packets can be received on another machine with Win7 environment). But it failed to receive any packet on Windows PE 3.0. I'm sure that ethernet packets really reach the network adapter and indicator light flashes fast, but the app shows that none packet received.... I have struggled on this for several days but no further progress.I found that in Windows AIK document, "Windows PE is a subset of Windows 7, and has the following limitations:...The supported methods of connecting to file servers are TCP/IP and NetBIOS over TCP/IP. Other methods, such as the IPX/SPX network protocol, are not supported...." Is it means that WinPE does not support other network protocol but TCP/IP? Are my app and drivers limitted by PE too? Or the Winodws PE 2.0/3.0 network environment needs more configurations? I have disabled the firewall in the PE initialization phase.

Picasa 3 Freezes During Scan
I installed Picasa3 on my win7 beta, and everything works fine except when it starts scanning a large number of photos on another ntfs partition on my hard disk (my xp partition, in a dual boot configuration). It freezes the machine solid - no mouse movements, no ctrl-alt-del response - but the disk keeps whirring away as if it were scanning everything.

Epson Scan Will Not Open
I have tried the suggested fixes but I cannot get Epson Scan to open. I have Windows 7 Priemium 64 bit and Epson Perfection Scanner V300. The software that came withe the scanner has no driver for windows 7 but I have the updated software from the Epson site for Windows 7. I have uninstalled the driver in the device manager and loaded the updated software but Epson Scan still will not open. Can guess I not doing something in the correct order.

Does anyone know if you can use the Windows 7 Windows Fax and Scan with a shared printer? I got my computer to print via the shared printer, pero when I attempt to preform a "New Scan," it says no scanner is attached to my computer. Any insight?

Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse Not Seen By Scan
My PPC6700 and another bluetooth device show fine. No mouse is seen. Was paired and working before upgrade. Does work fine MS bluetooth dongle, but who wants that thing sticking out in the way of your hand. sony vaio laptop with built-in bluetooth. toshiba bluetooth. anyone got their MS bluetooth mouse working with built-in bluetooth? seems pretty bad they can't get their own hardware to be seen.

Computer Goes To Sleep During Malware Scan
MS Windows 7 HP, ver. 6.1.7600 build 7600 HP Pavilion a6045.se. x86 AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual core 3800+, 2000 Mhz. Bios: Phoenix Tech, 5.13, 10/29/2007 3 GB Ram Problem: After downloading the MS Malicious software removal tool and initiating a full scan (which takes about 2-3 hours), I was troubled by the fact that the computer keeps going to sleep in the middle of the scan. During the scan, the hard drive is churning away as you might expect, but that doesn't seem to matter. I ended up having to turn off sleep in power options just to get through the scan, which means that I can't schedule unattended scans unless I want to leave the machine under full power afterwords.

Scan Problem With Hp Photosmart 3310
I cannot scan on my hp photosmart 3310 with Vista. I understand Vista doesn't support scanning from the printer, but when I tried using Paint, the "From scanner or camera" option is gray. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the printer more than once, and I have checked to be sure I have the most updated drivers. According to hp, I do. "hp digital imaging monitor" is checked in startup, but the icon does not appear in the system tray.

Epson DX4000 Scan Application
The following has happened: - I plugged the printer in the USB port - Went to the website of Epson - Downloaded the driver and the scan software - Installed the driver (using the compatibility mode) - Installed the scan software (using the same OS with compatibility mode) - Restarted the laptop I've tried to open the scanner but it says the following: EPSON Scan cannot be started. Please use the Troubleshooting Assistant to solve the problem. Do you want to open the Troubleshooting Assistant? The Troubleshooting Assistant is utterly useless btw. I've tried to use every OS with compatibility mode, but the problem remains. So I've tried to look it up on Internet, and this problem also occurs on Windows XP, and has been solved. But the method can't be used by doing it with "Windows 7". Anyone who can solve it?

HP C7180 Won't Scan
After installing win 7 my C7180 will print but won't scan. I downloaded fresh vista 64 bit software from HP and ran it in compatibility (Vista 64 bit SP2) mode and as administrator. The software appeared to install correctly and the printer will print but when I attempt to scan I get 'scanning software not found/installed" type error messages. Is there a win 7 twain driver update anywhere that might help?

Canon Scan Lide 500F Not Working
I have a Canon Scan Lide 500F, plugged on Windows Vista computer with the following driver: Lide500fvst11220a_xpen. On Canoscan Toolbox when I press SCAN the scanner makes the processing noise and a window comes up saying: "processing calibration data from the scanner (about 1 to 2 minutes required) do not open." About 3 to 4 seconds later a new window pops up saying: "Calibration can not be performed. Pull out the film and place Place the Film Adapter Unit at Frame 1." On the FAU there is nothing plugged because I do not have one. and I dont know which film I am supposed to pull out. when I press "OK" on this window another window comes up saying: TWAIN data transfer error."

HP C6180 Photosmart Can't Print Or Scan
I've got a Win 7 RC X64 on a domain. And a networked connected HPc6180 Photo Smart All In One I was able to install the HP Photosmart application by selecting Vista Compatibility and Run as administrator. During the install, the printer is found and the install seems to go fine. What is weird, I don't get any firewall unblock messages. If I recall, installing this network printer usual prompts an XP or Vista machine with Firewall unblock requests. However, after the install I try to print to it and the file goes into the print queue and then disappears as thought it printed. However, nothing prints. When I try to use various  functions like scan or status check it says the printer is disconnected. Of course I can ping it and open the printers web page. It seems as though the drivers can't talk to the printer some how. Any ideas? I've seen other posts where once you set the installer to run in compatibility mode, it installs and then works. However, it wasn't clear if the problem I'm having is due to the machine being on a domain, X64 or just the phase of the moon where I'm at.

Flash Drive Backround Disable Scan Prompt
there are alot of turorials on how to make a custom backround on your usb drive (and everyone who plugs it in will see this backround). I have read that this wont work on vista so i wonder if it works on Windows 7? also: how can i disable this annoying prompt where it asks about scanning the flash driver for errors? I get it everytime i plug some usb device in and when i scan i get "no errors" anyway.

Media Center - Live TV Configuration - Scan For Signals Not Supported
But we do have Over The Air (OTA) HD stations in Canada. To be able to capture HD signals, I had to select the US as my region, then de-select all of the US channels enabled by default (because I cannot receive them with my ATSC tuner & antenna combo). Also, for the Canadian HD stations that do get picked up, I cannot see the guide for these stations, as they are outside of the region that I have selected (the US). I am using a Hauppage digital ATSC/QAM dual tuner (HVR-2250). The first tuner is connected to a UHF antenna, the second is connected to an FM antenna. Because of the set up I have in my regional settings, I cannot select/scan for FM radio stations in my area, on the second tuner. If I try to use the Hauppage WinTV software, it crashes/locks the application.

Print, Access Desktop Computer, Fax Or Scan Problem
Received my uprade to W7 from Dell, after installing I can no longer print, access desktop computer, fax or scan, This has go to be something simple to fix as with vista I could do all things w7 will not do now. any help would be gratefully accepted, as I find that both Dell and MS do not offer support for the w7 product without paying an additional fee now that it is installed.

I have a customer where I just set up Fax Services on his Windows 2008 SBS server. I set up on his local account by going into Windows Fax and Scan on his Windows 7 Business machine. Tools>Fax Accounts clicked Add...>'Connect to a fax server on my network' then typed in the SBS server name and so on. The Windows Fax and Scan works, however when selecting New Fax and then clicking on the 'To:' I expected to get the address book from Outlook and did not. When I set this up, the same way, on the Windows Vista machines it worked correctly. Contacts are working correctly from Outlook I set up 4 other machines [Windows 7 Business] and all others are the same - No Outlook Contacts Verified that Default Programs>Set your default programs>Outlook had all checked (per Internet threads)User is administration of the local machine as well as the domainHow can I link the Windows Fax and Scan contacts to Outlook 2007 Contacts & AD like it is on the Vista machine?

Install Old Applications
Love the OS and I am searching for new ways to test it so I decided to just go for it and try to install some of my old applications. The result is that I am doing a new 7 install. What I tried: I wanted to try out Adode CS3,no go could not fin a certin dll file,not a problem Adobe said it woul not work anyway. I could not get a Vista instructional Cd (from lynda.com) to play with Media player so I had the bright idea to install VLC from uberdownloads. As soon as I started the download my Norto virus protection (beta version) came up and said "you are one of the first to select this download we suggest you give us more time to check things out" Well Uberdownloads assured me that it was safe so I selected install. Norton would not give up,it repeatedly interupted the download so I selected stop the download. When the dust cleared VLC was installed but did not work and I could not access my browser or do anything online (like Rhapsody which does work perfectly). I thought I would manually remove VLC,no go I could not access control panel,things are getting bad I thought. I decided to do a system restore. It ran for about 15min but came back saying it could not perform a system restore. My OS reinstall is just about complete. So I ask for tips on what Applications I can install and check-out. System specs AMD anthlon X2 250 (dual core 3.0ghz) 8gb DDR3 ASUS M4A78T-E motherboard,using onboard video for now.

Shortcut To Applications Question
i am running Win7-Ultimate-x64-De (RTM) on 2 PCs. After creating on the desktop a shortcut to an application (e.g. cmd.exe or notepad.exe) and rename the shortcut to something containing the word "support", the menu appearing when rightclicking the shortcut misses the entries "Attach to Taskbar" and "Attach to Startmenu". After removing at least one letter from the word support in the shortcuts name, the 2 entries appear again. Can you reproduce it? I wonder whats special with the word "support" in a shortcuts name.
