Samsung And Sony Ethernet DLNA TV's Connectivity
I have been running RC 7100 since day one of release and I'm very happy with it and am setting up the infrastructure to use it when released in the near future. I have a PC set up in my home office that is on 24/7 to record and store Recorded TV content and wish to stream this to the upstairs and downstairs TV's. I have some renovations going on and so I installed Cat 6 to both locations from my home office. (It's fast by the way some three times over XP on large 4 gig files at 60megbytes per second compared to 23 on XP.)
Anyway I need to purchase a TV for downstairs as I have an older CRT TV with only composite connection. From what I researched Sony and Samsung both have Plasma and LCD TV's with Ethernet connections using DLNA. Does that mean I just plug in the network cable direct to the tv and it will play all media on my media PC? So my questions are:
If I were to buy a TV with ethernet connection now before Windows 7 release is it compatible with Windows 7 because it uses DLNA as say an xbox does?
Do the TV's use and interface that looks and feels like the Media Centre user interface?
HOW I PLAY RECORDED TV AT PRESENT
On my upstairs TV which is a cheapish buy adequite LCD TV with DVI in. So I connect my Windows 7 notebook to the gigabit network and play to the TV using the DVI out. It works for now and is a good test on what it feels like to be in bed with the wife and to use the media centre like a TV not like a pc as I have a dell infrared detector and media center remote that came with my vista OS when it arrived.
I have researed media extenders but I just want a simple plug and play setup without the clutter. We are behind in Australia regarding internet TV and Movies on demand but it's just emerging too and my isp is offering these services in the upcoming months.
Anyway I would appreciate any comments by those that use ethernet TV's and what limitations there are if any and also about the user interface they run. I have read up on this at http://www.obsessable.com/feature/home-media-streaming-101-dlna-explained/ and other places but I cannot find specifics.

DLNA Samsung TV
I have a Samsung LN40A750 TV and apparently for the "A" versions you can no longer get the linkstick. I ordered a "B" version of the linkstick but it didn't work (it said it wouldn't but I figured I'd try it anyway). In the end I settled on purchasing a Linksys WET610N Wireless bridge. That worked as the TV has an IP address and I can use WiseLink to see the content being shared from the computers on my network. The PLAYTO feature in Windows is what really want to work with this lashup but the TV is not recognized by Windows 7 as a device.  Any thoughts on how to get the TV to be recognized as a device while connected to the bridge? Is this something provided by the linkstick for this TV? BTW, it does identify the WET610N wireless bridge as a device in Windows. I have a Samsung Omnia 2 phone. It too is DLNA compliant and I can PLAYTO that device.

VIA Velocity Gigabit Ethernet Connectivity
I was having trouble staying connected with Microsoft's OOTB network drivers installed for my gigabit Ethernet ports on my nForce 780i motherboard. Every 5-10 minutes, the connection would show a warning icon in the system tray and wouldn't connect to anything through any protocols. Disabling and re-enabling the Ethernet port fixed the problem for another 5-10 minutes, then it would stop working again. To resolve this issue, I installed the VIA drivers found here: http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=420&OSID=36&CatID=3030&SubCatID=130 So far, it's been about 12 hours without a problem using the official VIA drivers. I hope this helps anyone else having the same problem.

Media Streaming Via UPNP-AV (DLNA)
Media Streaming via UPNP-AV (DLNA) from Buffalo Linkstation Live to WMP 12. so I have the following problem. I am trying to use WMP 12 as a UPNP-AV Control Point, i.e. the streaming client for my DLNA compliant Buffalo Linkstation Live. In the library section for WMP 12 (as well as on the "network" tab of Win 7) I can see the Linkstation. In WMP it shows up under "Other Libraries", on the network tab it's showing as UPNP device and the icon seems to indicate that it provides media. But when I then choose the Linkstation library in WMP, it doesn't actually display any of the music (I have started with music indexing only on the linkstation) and it keeps telling me the library is empty. Now I have already used the Linkstation to serve a Linux Amarok player several months ago and it worked without any problems. Also I can use the WMP12 without any problems to stream from a Vista computer sharing through WMC 4.0. I don't understand why I can't stream from the linkstation. Is it a protocol issue (WMP12 not really UPNP-AV compliant)? A port issue/firewall issue? All the devices are in the same (switched) subnet. At first I used connections via wireless AND 100MBit Ethernet, later I switched to only 100 Mbit switched Ethernet. Any suggestions?

Can't Stream To Samsung TV
I just got a new Samsung LN46B750 TV. On the PC side I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate (RTM). The Samsung sever app does what it says it will do, although it's not terribly exciting. I would like to be able to stream from Media Player (and, ultimately, Media Center). Media Player can see the TV but the TV does not see Media Player when I try to Play To. MP gets hung with a message "Contacting Media Server". (The TV has the latest firmware updates.) Can someone tell me what I need to enable to make this work?

Sony Says I Can't Upgrade From 7 Premium To Ultimate
I am very interested in purchasing a new Sony L series ( all in one ) computer that comes with Windows 7 Home Premium installed . I had my wife call Sony the other day to find out if it could be upgraded to Ultimate and they said no because the lower end model does not come installed with Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium . Now I should mention that some of their laptops in the same price range as the L I am looking at can be ordered on-line with Ultimate installed and don't have Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium, so it makes no sense to me that the model I am interested in cannot be upgraded . Anybody know or have ideas/suggestions/advice/whatever ?

Can't Set Native Resolution For Samsung 22 Monitor
I don't know whether this is a Windows 7 problem or a Catalyst problem, but here goes... I have installed Windows 7 (clean) and the latest Catalyst drivers for my ATI HD4850 card. My monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster 2243NW, a 22" panel with a native res of 1680 x 1050. I have installed the monitor driver from Samsung's website and the monitor is now showing correctly in device manager. When I right click on the desktop and choose "screen resolution", the "change the appearance of your display" screen offers only "display device on DVI" ion the drop down menu, not the Samsung monitor, and does not offer me the native resolution. The nearest is 1440 x 900. If I click "advanced" I'm taken to the catalyst driver screen which correctly identifies the monitor, but bizarrely still offers only the same choices of resolution as the Windows 7 screen. 1680 x 1050 just isn't there. Can anyone help me get my monitor to run at native res in Windows 7?

Samsung External DVD Won't Work
I did install win7 from a USB-stick following instructions on a forum, formatting this and making it bootable with all tools from the Win-7 DVD and it worked great. But now I did get me an external DVD burner (Samsung SE S084) and would love to use it. If I plug it into my old XP notebook, it works without installing any drivers. So does it when I boot the Linux partition on my netbook, I can boot from it too, But it just won't show in the explorer when I plug it in the netbook and boot Win7. It is shown in the device manager, it has CD.sys as driver and is reported as working fine (I don't really agree on that;-) Driver update is grayed out. So, what can I do, besides switching to Ubuntu, to start using my DVD?

Sony Don't Enable Hardware Virtualization
I have a Sony VGN-AR71ZU which has a Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 but Sony disable hardware virtualisation. The Intel processor identification utility shows Intel Virtualization is available in the processor but the Bios does not include an option to turn it on. There are several sites that offer hacked Bios code to re-enable Intel Virtualization but i'm not sure I'm happy to use these. This Sony site indicates they do not allow hardware virtualization http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=C381809Â . What! Why not? That's why I bought a dual core laptop!I can no longer use Micrsoft Virtual PC 2007 as it does not run on Win 7 nor can I use Windows Virtual PC so I am stuck! Does anyone know of a solution?

No Network Connectivity
I've been using 7 since day after it came out, no networking issues at all until this morning. All network connectivity is completely gone. Tried using 3 different cables, 2 different routers; simply put, 7 won't recognize that I've connected the PC to a network, doesn't even give me an error message. I'm using onboard Ethernet on an Nvidia nForce motherboard using drivers that 7 apparently installed for itself. I'm actually posting this from an old Vista laptop on the same network, and all the other computers in my house are having no issues connecting to my home network. Any ideas?

Loss Of Network Connectivity
This has been an issue since I upgraded to 7201. It isn't constant, and seems to be worse when I'm downloading large files, especially multiple files from one source (like an album in iTunes). It is fixed by release/renew (or just letting Diagnostics do that). If I'm not using a lot of data (regular web browsing, working on a database online, etc), it seems perfectly fine. It is holding so far downloading one track at a time on iTunes, but if I do 2, it drops the connection. I'm using the Home network config, router is working normally, and I can't recall this happening before 7201. I've reset the router, upgraded firmware, and it only happens on this PC. I've set WINS, tried all settings for TCP/IP 4 and 6, and using the other ethernet port on my motherboard. More of an annoyance, really, but I can't figure it out and it is bugging the hell out of me. EDIT: I can still get 1 mb/s on a single download, but trying 2, I get 600/400 for about 10-15 seconds until it disconnects.

Network Connectivity Lock Up
My Cable provider is doing upgrades to my area, my cable modem never looses sync. I am running Win 7 x64 RC 7100 on 2 different (1 AMD, 1 Intel) PCs connected to wired a router. If my connection to the Internet fails I can't connect to my wired router or my network from either machine. I have to close open apps on one of the PCs and then open Network & Sharing center, then click on the warning between the PC and the network icon. After the attempt to connect to the Internet fails I can connect to router and my network even though I still have no Internet connectivity. This is just bizarre and it happens to both PCs neither can connect to the router or each other until I do this "chicken ritual" on a machine. The NIC connections are Client for MS networks and TCP/IP4. Any ideas? Why does network connectivity lock up?

I've tried IE, FF, Chrome, but none ever reach the web or an error page.  The router is perfect from another computer.  No proxy changes, firewall and anti-virus disabled, no problems with network settings.  Any ideas as to what is the problem?

Network Connectivity But No Internet After Reboot
I'm running 7 Home Premium 64bit on an HP box we got about a month ago. Lately, when I restart the system, I can't get any internet connection. I can access shares on my home network, so the nic is working and I'm getting an ip address from my router. If I disable and reenable the nic, the internet connection works again. I've tried disabling firewalls and things like that, but the only thing that fixes it is the disable/enable. The network "troubleshooter" can't see anything wrong, and everything looks like it's configured properly, and nothing has been changes since the initial setup. It worked fine for a couple weeks and now doesn't. Anyone seen this before? Hints? The disable/enable isn't a big deal but I know at some point I won't be home and my wife will have a problem and I'd rather not deal with that!

Network Problem - No Internet Connectivity
I have a network problem that seems to be different from other threads I have read. When I installed W7RC a few days ago, I successfully setup my home network and Internet access. It worked well for 3 days. On the 4th day, I lost Internet connectivity. While troubleshooting the problem, I noticed a 2nd network connection had been created: "unidentified network". Both networks indicate "no Internet connectivity".  Eventually, I found a temporary fix: I can disable and then re-enable the NIC. This causes the "unidentified network" to disappear, and the "home network" regains Internet connectivity. This works fine until I reboot, at which point the "unidentified network" re-appears, causing me to lose Internet access. Rinse, repeat. I have tried drivers, and W7 says they are up-to-date. I have also checked with nvidia, to see if they offer a different driver. It is an NFORCE4 motherboard with integrated NIC. Any suggestions? Â

Win 7 Losing Network Connectivity
Windows 7 RC on my desktop machine is doing strange things with networking. Normally, it's the only machine on the network, served by a Draytek Vigor 2800. The setup has worked fine for a long time (like, years). Often, I connect my laptop (also running Win 7 RC) to the network, to synchronise stuff between it and the desktop. (Sometimes, I connect from other locations via VPN, and that works fine - no problems noted, but it doesn't stay connected for long) However, if I leave the laptop on its docking station at home, the desktop will at some point lose connection to it. The laptop can still see the desktop, and open shared folders on it. The desktop reports that the laptop isn't connected if I try to go that way. I've checked the network and sharing center, in its detailed layout, to see what's happening. That may indicate the problem. I don't know how to post images on here, but have uploaded them to my webspace. Hopefully, they can be seen. When just the desktop is connected, all looks normal - http://www.kirbycane.plus.com/wackynetwork0.jpg When I first switch on the laptop, it appears as expected, still all looking normal - http://www.kirbycane.plus.com/wackynetworkN.jpg After a while (several hours), the problem appears. The desktop can no longer access shared folders on the laptop. The laptop can still access the desktop. It appears that the desktop is now connected to the outside world VIA the laptop - http://www.kirbycane.plus.com/wackynetwork1.jpg If I then start the laptop's WiFi connection to the network (so it's connected twice), an unidentified device appears on the desktop, with the laptop's two connections shown separately. The laptop can still "see" shared stuff on the desktop, and the desktop still reports that the laptop isn't available - http://www.kirbycane.plus.com/wackynetwork2.jpg Can anyone suggest what's happening, or what to do?

Limited Connectivity / Unidentified Network
I have 2 desktop computers connected to a router. Or am TRYING to connect them to the router. I can connect one computer at a time, but not both, which is absurd because routers are supposed to let you connect more than one, obviously. I know all of the ports work because I've used them all one at a time. I connect through a cable and not through wireless. When I try to plug 2 computers in, it gives me the Unidentified Network on one of the computers and says "Home doesn't have a valid IP address." Why is it doing this to me? I've connected my computer to the same router at someone else's house with no problem whatsoever. Is it the router itself or is it my computer? I have spent hours trying to fix this but to no avail and I am ready to pull my hair out. One computer has Windows 7 and the other has Vista. I tried to look for that Bonjour ## Id.## thingy or whatever it was and I don't have it in there. Someone please help! All I want to do is make it so both computers can be online at the same time!!

No Network Connection - Limited Or No Connectivity
Yesterday I updated to v. 2.2 Of Sun Virtualbox and have lost my connection to the Internet on Windows 7. The 'VirtualBox Host - Only Network Status' reports "limited or no connectivity". This is because "the Network did not assign a Network Address to the Computer". I have not been able to solve this problem, the icon in the sys. tray has a yellow marker against it. I have normal connectivity on Windows XP. I cannot wind back using System Restore as there are no restore points. I do have a drive image of my C; drive dated just prior to the update, would this work?. Is there an easier way?.

Now I'm back to limited conectivity unidentified network with this card.Am I going to have to buy a new NIC card? Seems ridiculous. ip release/renew doesnt work - they time out.

Intermittent Network / Internet Connectivity
Just upgraded my Vista 64-bit install to Win7 Home Prem 64-bit. Everything has been working great except for an internet/network issue. At random times, all of a sudden the icon in the tray gets that yellow exclamation point over it and says there's a network issue and no internet available. It's like that until I disable and re-enable the network adapter. There are other systems on the wired router and they're still working fine (vista and xp machines). The strange thing is it *seems* to only do it when I start doing more than one thing at the same time. I.e. trying to watch youtube while playing an online game. Or, downloading a pdf while streaming music. All of a sudden, all Internet goes down (other computers still working fine though). Once I reset the adapter, all is well. Any ideas here?
