Samsung SH-S223B/BSBE 22X DVDRW Drive SATA OEM Problem

Seems that win 7 rc does not like this drive and I can't install win 7 .  Brand new computer core 2 quad but I guess win 7 wasn't designed to work.

Oem Install Fresh Sata Drive
I am attempting to install a Windows 7 OEM x64 onto an older machine I have. MB is a Foxconn NF4UK8AA-8EKRS, CPU is AMD Athlon 64 x2, 4200+ 2.25 GHz, RAM 1GB. I installed a new OEM 500GB SATA hard drive unformatted.

Current OS is Windows XP Home SP2, I deleted SP3 since it was giving me some problems with auto login.

My DVD drive will not read the Windows 7 installation disk, similar to another post the drive just flashes, never spools up. It will read other CDs and DVDs.

I initialized the hard drive but have not partitioned or formatted the new SATA hard drive which is where I want to install the new OS. While the BIOS recognizes the drive, its not listed on Computer tree.

I have copied the Windows 7 OEM DVD contents onto a Folder that I created on a Toshiba External USB drive. Only had a 2GB USB Flash Drive so thought I would use the external drive and select the setup.exe in the Windows 7 files I copied into a folder without formatting a complete 250GB ext USB drive.

Question, can I partition and format the new SATA drive using the Windows XP Home Edition with an NTSF format and will this be recognized by Windows 7?

Question, can I install Windows 7 from the Toshiba Ext USB drive's folder onto the newly formatted SATA drive? Or does Windows 7 require a different formatting setup?

The BIOS and MB won't recognize a DVD drive it only allows a boot from CD. I removed the CD and DVD master/slave parallel cable and only installed the DVD as the master, but Windows 7 DVD just blinks and never spins the drive.

If I can get the new OS installed I'll remove my two older 40GB PATA hard drives and add more RAM. This machine is for my wife's use since it was in the garage gathering dust. Thought I would revive it and set up a wireless home group between my machine and her's. I added an all in one printer/copier/scanner in addition to the HP Photosmart D7460 I have so we can share files, printers and Internet connection.

I have been building my own machines since about 1990. Building a machine is fun (takes maybe 2hrs) but all the software kicks my butt. Also I went to the OEM System Builder License at Microsoft OEM Partner Center that is the most confusing arrangement I have ever seen. I'm just a home builder having fun, not a business, must I buy the full version to get this installed?

Driver For Sata Seagate 120Gb And Sata 2 Samsung 200Gb
I´ve been having some troubles with seeing my usb storage devices in win 7 x64 ultimate edition. Those are 2 usb flash drives, i-pod as well as external hdd-s. every other usb device like wireless mouse/kbd, scanner, digi-cam have been directly recognized and installed by windows. The storage hardware has been also recognized, as i can see it in the device manager (right name and model and so on) but installation of driver fails.

As response i get error code 32 (Device Status: "A driver (service) for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32)"). I´ve been searching the problem in different forums for days, but haven´t found any solution yet :(

The only suggestion that might help, was to change sht. in registry but it wasn't said where in it.

My system, in case that might be helpful information:

MSI k8N Neo4
Athon XP64 3200+
3Gb DDR Dual channel
GF 7300GT
1xSata Seagate 120Gb
1xSata2 Samsung 200Gb

Optiarc DVDRW Drive Won't Work
My Opti-Arc drive won't open; the LED just stays green. It's not recognized by the BIOS or W7 RC.
It's SATA; I have an Asus m4a79. I don't want to upgrade the BIOS or update the firmware if I don't have to.

USB To SATA Interface Detected But Not The SATA Drive Attached To It
Install Windows7 RC without any problems.  It detected all hardware and applications without error.  Minor only with ASUS P5Q pc probe.  PC itself running great. Problem is as follows. If I plug an external usb drive into a port it sees and recognises the drive allowing access.

If I plug and external Sata drive in via a USB to SATA converter it sees the converter but does not see the drive attached to it.  Worked Fine in VISTA.  I changed the drive to another.  It was not seen either.  The USB to SATA internface shows no errors.

Win 7 OEM Hard Drive Swapping
Well as everyone using Windows RC knows, it'll be shutting down every hour or so starting in a week or so.

I've been looking at two different options. First option was to use Ubuntu 9.1.0 though I have no experience with it. Thing is I game a little and wanted to run games also. I looked into using Wine yet its not always guaranteed.

Second option was to do a clean install of Windows 7 using an OEM copy for far less than retail. Also, thing is..I might be receiving a new computer from school and was wondering how it would work out if I installed the Windows 7 OEM to this hard drive then swapped it out to the new computer. I heard you cannot change anything once the OEM is installed without calling Microsoft. Would it be possible to swap out the hard drive and put it into my new machine?

Lite-On DVDRW SOHW-1693S
I just recently installed 7 64bit over my Vista 64 bit (ultimate) and everything is great so far, except neither of my optical drives are available.

Lite-On DVDRW SOHW-1693S
MSI CD-RW CR52

I initially got an error on both drives for "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. (code 52)"

Both listed the cdrom.sys driver but also the unsigned file GEARAspiWDM.sys in the windowssystem32 directory.

I figured I'd rename the GEAR file and uninstall/reinstall the drivers for the optical drives, but it just tells me that it loaded cdrom.sys but can't load any device driver for the hardware.

Device manager shows them with yellow caution tales and lists both reasons as "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing (code 39)

On the driver details tab both show C:windowssystem32cdrom.sys as the driver and it shows it as signed.

Sony Optiarc DVDRW Button Not Working
After a smooth install of windows 7, the following problem has occurred. I have a Optiarc dvd rw ad-7233s drive and after the install of windows 7 finished, I have been unable to open the cd drive by normal methods..

By normal I mean hitting the eject button on the tower and on my keyboard. The only way to open it has been to go into "computer" and right click on the cd/dvd drive icon and click eject.

I am using windows 7 home premium on a gateway DX4300-03 desktop.

I have tried uninstalling the device and letting it reinstall, rebooting several times and neither is working and I have been unsuccessful in finding anything on the internet about this particular problem.

SATA Drive Not Recognized
I attempted to install win 7 RC to my secondary drive.,which is SATA. After loading the drivers from FLOPPY, i was able to install the files onto the drive. After 1st reboot, the machine went into an endless look rebooting. I am assuming that after that reboot, it lost the drivers for the sata drive. my primary drive is IDE. The only way I got to install 7 was empty a partition on my ide drive. This OS does not look ready for prime time, not even a little.

Install Win7 On SATA Drive
I have a HP m7667c, which has two SATA drives. The motherboard is ASUS P5BW-LA (or Basswood-UL8E). I've never successfully installed vista before because of it kept asking for SATA drive. I wonder if there is a solution for this problem with Window 7?

I think I have RAID on in the BIOS configuration but I don't really want to turn it off because in that way my old WinXP would die. I just wanted to give Windows 7 a try before I completely change to it. Could anyone help me? I could provide more information about the desktop if necessary.

Win 7 Not Recognizing SATA Drive
Before I made the commitment to use Windows 7 as my primary OS, I figured I'd experiment in a dual boot environment. My current setup is Windows XP (x32) installed on a 500GB SATA drive. This drive has a partition for the OS and a separate partition for all of my files and data. To install Windows 7 I removed my SATA drive and (successfully) installed Windows 7 (64-bit) onto an 80GB IDE drive (controller 0, disk 0).

After the installation I shut down my system, reconnected my SATA drive, changed the BIOS boot order to look at my IDE and Windows 7 booted without a hitch. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-K8U-939

Now, with Windows 7 running and my SATA drive connected, Windows 7 does *not* recognize the drive. It is completely missing from the disk manager. I loaded the drivers for my motherboard ((however since the MoBo is a couple years old, it doesn't have Vista or Windows 7 drivers)), it loaded quasi-successfully but spat out some error about it not being totally successful. Now, after I log into Windows 7 I receive an error that goes like,

Code: Initial ALiRAID error!!Please Check:

1) ALiRAID driver is installed
2) ALiRAID controller is connected to disk drive(s)

When I reboot my computer and switch the boot order in the BIOS to boot from my IDE drive, my system will boot into Windows XP without any problem at all. I've also switched the BIOS setting from "RAID" to "IDE" for the SATA drive and that appears to have done nothing towards Windows 7 being able to access it.

There's gotta be some way to get Windows 7 to see my SATA drive, doesn't there?

Installing From A Sata Dvd Drive
I'm trying to install from a sata dvd drive onto an ide hard disc. I have the raid drivers for my board, x64 vista drivers to be exact.

During the install sequence I obviously get to the bit that asks me to insert a driver disc for the dvd drive. Currently the drivers are on a floppy, so insert the floppy disc and browse to the drivers. windows 7 then starts to load the drivers them fails with a message stating it can't find find drivers for this drive.

Has anyone else tried installing from a sata drive, and if so how did you get on?

Installation Fails / Sata 2 Drive
I'm trying to install Windows 7 on a WD 500gb freshly formatted to NTFS. Windows 7 first copies the files and then says its starting up and then hangs up. My bios see's the hard drive and knows it's there. I never get a chance to use F6 to load the Sata drivers that I have on a floppy drive.

It never asks me. I first tried to load with the Sata Drive unpartitioned but that failed. So I am now trying to do it on a formatted drive. I'm not sure if the problem is that Windows 7 doesn't recognize that I have a Sata Drive attached. Can anyone give me some ideas for things to try?

I took the motherboard, processor, and ram back to Frys and got store credit. I changed from a Gigabyte motherboard to an Asus motherboard, same processor, and associated ram. Windows 7 loaded with no problems.

Fry's stated that the motherboard must have been bad due to the issues that I was having. The processor and ram were suspected to be good. When I loaded Windows 7 I didn't have to load any Sata drivers the bios and windows 7 picked up the Sata Drive with no problems.

Disappearing SATA DVD Drive
After Installing Windows 7 (RTM) on 4 different Dell Latitude E5500 laptops I find I am having the same issue with all of them. Windows 7 installs correctly. These are no errors shown in device manager. The DVD drives all can be properly installed from during installation. After installation, the drives disappear!

If I insert a new disk in the drive the drive will appear for a short period of time and then disappear again. Sometimes I cannot even keep the drive showing long enough to install a program completely. The OS will report disk not found.

All of these systems worked well under Windows XP SP-3  and Vista SP-1 with no disappearing drives.

I can make the drive "reappear" if I take the disk out and re-insert it. The disk will read until it powers down.

The hide empty drives check box is not checked explorer.

On checking in the the device manager, the drive appears with the yellow !, CODE 10, Device cannot start. I cannot find an updated driver for this device.  Checking the Web, this has occurred with the Dell Inspiron 1545, which uses the same drive, the TSST-L633B.

Dell has no drivers for this product on their web site. Dell Tech support claims this is a Microsoft problem since the systems work under XP and Vista.

I checked to make sure no incompatible spftware has been installed. In the registry, no Upper or lower filters are installed for this device.

Any suggestions for troubleshooting and repair?

Recognizing SATA Drive As SCSI
I am having frequent file corruption issues with big files. I have 2 similar drives (Hitachi HDP725032GLA360) and both have the same issue so very unlikely that it is a HD issue. Noticed that Windows 7 is recognising Hitachi HDP725032GLA360 as a SCSI drive but this is a SATA drive

http://www.hitachigst.com/portal/site/en/menuitem.e6b513c73a0b7518e8284977eac4f0a0/ .

I am not sure if that is the root cause of this isse.

Hard Drive IDE SATA
My setup: XP on my C-drive with 2x SATA drives as slaves.

My requirement: I want to take my drives out and just use one of my SATA drives to install WINDOWS 7. If i tell my BIOS that my new C-Drive is that SATA drive, will i have to tell it again that my old drive is an IDE when i put that back in without the new SATA drive plugged in.

My reason: I have got the new WINDOWS 7 and want to install everything and update all my programs also have a good look and learn before i start having my work on it. It is easier for me to just unplug the power leads on each drive before i start then to have to redo all my work if i mess WINDOWS 7 up and have to format. I cant afford to loose everything.

Yes i could back everything up but i need to work while this is happening if you know what i mean.

Fails To Recognize SATA Drive
I currently have two SATA drives installed on my PC. I'm running Vista ultimate. When in Vista, I can see, format, partition and use both drives. I even have the second drive set up with the pagefile at the moment. When I run the Windows 7 install from Vista OR via boot, it will only recognize my primary (vista) drive.

I've tried loading a ton of different SATA drivers during install, but even after loading them my main drive is still the only one in the list. I hid all non-applicable drivers during the search, so I know that I'm only attempting to load ones relevant to my hardware.I don't get this at all. I specifically cleaned off this second drive just to test W7, but without it being able to recognize it at all I'm SOL.

Samsung F1 Drive Install Issue
Existing Setup

Abit IN9 32-Max, 2gig OCZ, E6300, WD 250g, Windows 7 v7264 x32

NO issues, everything runs fine.

Removed WD 250g and switched to Samsung F1 Spinpoint 750g drive (which is essentially my old gamming system running on xp).

Cannot install Windows 7, regardless of version, locks halfway through install. Hard reset and Drive is no longer detected.

I experienced this same issue back when I had the gaming system and the only way to fix it was to disable Command Qeueing ( which was recommended by users with same issue ). The problem seems to be with the nvidia chipset ( in this case 6) not playing nice with some Samsung drives. However, I was able to install XP and of course disable this option. PC then ran fine for a year, no lockups.

Basically same system, but will not allow Windows 7 to install. Ive tried different sata ports, different partitions, different Windows 7 versions, different bios settings... Always locks halfway through.

Partitioning A Single Sata Drive With Win7 On It
I got a question for you maybe you can answer for me. I have a single 1terabyte sata drive with windows 7 on it. I used to have Windows xp pro on it but i upload Windows 7, i just delete the "old windows" that Windows 7 left me. Now i have accumulated alot of files in my documents file which i use for video purposes which take up about 530 gigs.

i can't wipe my hard drive clean to install the new update rc which i recieved as a beta tester. Is there any way to partition the drive only where Windows 7 is at leaving my 530 gigs in a seperate partition so that i can install dual os's. The two os's will be Windows 7 rc and Xp Pro. the only reason i made the switch is because i built my new computer with 4 gigs of memory running core 7 processor but xp only sees 3 gigs.
