Print Through LPT1 From MS DOS App In XP Mode
Running Windows 7 and Virtual XP Mode. Need to run a DOS app that only knows printing on LPT1:. On XP Pro PC this was accomplished by sharing the network printer then "net use lpt1:" on the shared port. In XP Mode I've shared the network printer that is available through the Windows 7 host. I use the command "NET USE LPT1: TSCLIENTLJ2430" where "LJ2430" is the share name for the printer. I receive "System error 87 has occurred. The parameter is incorrect.". Any ideas for making this work or entirely different method for sharing a network printer on the LPT1 port.

HP 990Cse Printer Cannot Print
I'm running Windows 7 x64 (build 7100). Windows detected and installed the built-in driver for my HP 990Cse printer which is attached via a USB port. The specific driver name is "HP deskjet 990c". I can print a test page from the printer properties dialog, but I am unable to print from within applications. I've tried printing from Word, Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Notepad. All programs display an error dialog along the lines of "An error occurred when attempting to print". I am able to load the printer settings dialog from within these applications, but when I do the mouse cursor changes to busy for 5-10 seconds before I can do anything with the dialog. I have removed and reinstalled the printer, powered it off and back on, disconnected and reconnected the USB cable. I've tried searching for a different driver using Windows Update. The HP Deskjet 990c driver is not listed as a printer in the drivers from Windows Update. HP does not provide a downloadable driver for the printer as it's built-in to Vista, so there doesn't appear to be anything else I can install. The printer works fine in Vista x32 SP1. Any suggestions on how I can get my printer working?

HP C6350 Printer Installed, Will Not Print
I am trying to install a new hp c6350 printer, network. Have read your post about compatibility and have gone through that, using Windows Vista (have windows 7 beta installed on computer, was previously windows vista 64). Device installs, shows up, is detected on network, when you ask it to print, you can see the print job flash through the status window, but then just disappears. Thought the compatibility method would solve it, but it does not. Incidentally, none of our printers show up in device manager, just show up under devices and printers option from start button.

Network Printer (HP C5550) Fails To Print
I have Win 7 7100 installed on my Acer Aspire One dual boot with XP. Our home network printer (HP C5550) is on a desktop computer running Win XP SP3. I can print from my Acer One via Bluetooth to the C5550, but when I install the printer as a network share, it refuses to print. The printer install is getting the drivers from the XP machine. I have tried a driect connect via USB from Win 7 to the C5550, and that works. How can I troubleshoot the print failure when the C5550 is installed as a network share? I have tried setting it as default, which is what the troubleshooter suggests, but that does not work. I am sure the Vista drivers for the printer are installed on the XP machine. Any ideas?

Unable To Print With Kodak ESP-9 Printer
Every time I attempt to print anything on my new Kodak ESP-9 printer and Windows 7 which I recently installed on my desktop PC, my screen displays that the "program has encountered an error and  needs to close". I can be online or offline and it makes no difference. The error message is the same. I installed the latest print drivers from the company's web site. However, that did not make any difference. I have determined that the printer is working, as I have a laptop PC that is also sharing the wi-fi feature of this printer, but with Vista. It works just fine. However, I'd really like to be able to print from my desktop computer as well. Anyone have an idea?Â

Samsung Ml-2510 Printer Driver
I have a Samsung ML-2510 that I recently purchased and I can not get it to work with Windows 7. I have tried the xp driver and the Vista driver running in vista compatibility mode as an administrator and have had no success. The reason I bought this printer was because my older hp deskjet 3745 would not work with Windows 7 and it had no vista driver so I ran it in compatibility mode and it also did not work. Both these printers work fine in xp mode. I would like help with the samsung primarily but also with the hp.

Samsung ML-2510 Printer Problem
I tried searching this before couldn't find a thread with the issue I have... 1) Windows 7 64bit has a Samsung ML-2510 USB printer installed 2) I shared the printer in Windows 7 3) x64 drivers are installed but could not installed x86 drivers. It keeps saying the driver is not for the processor architecture (using the driver I used for WinXp) 4) In Advanced Sharing Options, I enabled Sharing and disabled password. I only have one account with no password, on Win 7 Machine. 5) Windows Xp laptop is a work machine and part of a domain, so I can NOT change the workgroup to "Workgroup" 6) Tried installing the printer using Win7MachineSamsung command in Winxp run dialog 7) Printer windows opens up showing "Initializing" and then get 'ready' 8) NOTHING happens when I try to print a test page. Is there a way I can use the printer? I used to be able to print without any problem, when I was on XP.

Centronics Printer Connected Via USB Adapter Cable Doesn't Print
I've connected my old OKI OL810ex printer to my new computer using a USB <> Centronix adapter cable. While both, the adapter cable and my OKI printer have been recognized and flawlessly installed by Windows 7 (64 bit), I can't print: Most of the time just nothing happens. The print job stays in the queue window virtually forever (see below) with status "printing" but nothing is sent to my printer. I can monitor this at my printer: The cooling fan doesn't start-up and the "receiving data" LED doesn't blink. Both would happen with the first byte received. Yet sometimes, a couple of bytes seem to be sent to my printer. The printer fan starts and the display shows "DATA"... However, the print job again stays in the queue window virtually forever with status "printing" again and nothing more happens. Well, these print jobs don't actually keep their "printing" status forever. Eventually (probably after five minutes) the print job state changes from "printing" to "error". When I try to delete such "hanging" print job, the status message changes to "deleting" but even this operation takes two or three minutes to complete. I don't believe this is a hardware problem. The printer works flawlessly with my old machine (using the standard Centronix cable) and the USB cable appears to be flawless as well.
