SDRAM Drive No Longer Works

Since installing Windows 7 on my Toshiba Satelite, my SDRAM drive is no longer recognized on the control panel. Does anyone have this problem or know the answer to solving it.

Flash No Longer Works In Any Browser
I just got this new computer, running 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium. Everything was working fine at first, but then it automatically updated some things. Now, Flash doesn't work online anymore, in any browser. The content starts to load, then the browser freezes, and I have to force quit it.

I have the most recent version of Flash Player, and I can still play .swf files I make myself, so I don't know what to do anymore.

I'm fairly sure that this isn't an isolated problem, as a friend of mine is experiencing the same thing.

In a possibly related problem, .avi and other video files on my hard drive no longer play, nor do music files.

I doubt my specs are needed, since this is almost certainly a software problem, but I'm running on a Dell Studio, with a 2GHz dual core processor and with 4Gb of RAM.

Win 7 64x Reinstall - XP Mode No Longer Works
XP mode was running fine on my Win7 64x (build 7100) box, until I uninstalled Norton 2010 (beta). The OS became very unstable after I outed Norton, I reinstalled the OS and now I can't reinstall  Virtual PC / XP Mode. I get a message from the installer that says "The update is not applicable to your computer" when I run "Windows6.1-KB958559-x64.msu". When I use Microsoft's "havdetectiontool.exe" tool, it says "this computer meets the processor requirements to run Windows Virtual PC."

Has anyone else had a similar experience and been successful with work around?

Can No Longer Access C Drive
Now I can no longer access my C drive, Get a message that the administrator (me) has banned me!

At the same time, I started gettin a message that my antivirus key is not valid.

Antivirus no longer works. (Avast). Also at about the same time my email programme (Thunderbird) started telling me that it could not download any more messages as there was insufficient room. Even after deleting several messages, the same fault continues. It looks like scrap W7 and reinstall, unless anyone has a better idea.

DVD Drive Is No Longer Recognized By The System
I am using a Gateway GT5428 w/Intel Pentium D processor 935 and Windows Vista Home Premium.  Windows 7 RC cannot install due to the compatability issue and when I follow the directions and remove the One Care and reboot - the E: drive is gone so no installation can take place.

I have tried to disconnect the drive and reboot and then shut down again and reboot but the system still does not reconize the drive.  How do I get around this problem because the boot disk absolutely will not install with the Windows Live Care on the system.

My Computer No Longer Exists
I recently installed a problem called EnhanceMySe7en and tried a few tweaks however things didn't really turn out as I had planned.

I made a system restore point before I made the changes, but then when I tried to restore it back, it says there were no points available ... Thats wierd coz I've made 3 restore points over the last 3 days as I've been changing stuff.

Anyways I would love it if anyone knows a possible fix for the problems I've encounterd.

1) The "my computer" link has dissapeared from the start menu (no option to re-add in the startmenu properties)

2) When I open "my computer" shorcut from rocketdock I get no drives showing up

3) Option to add my computer icon to desktop greyed out

4) "My computer" is no longer in the left pane of explorer (libraries and network etc are still there). It means I can't browse to my files. I can only if it lets me type in an address like C:windows etc... but in some browse dialogs I'm locked out completely

5) Another unrelated issue in my shutdown menu. I have logoff, sleep, hibernate, restart options in my shutdown menu, but no shutdown

I suspect with the My Computer issue that its deleted some registry keys pointing to it... please let me know if you have any ideas how to fix it.

WIn 7 Will No Longer Boot
Today I did a fresh install of Windows 7 Build 7232 because it was newer and also because Build 7077 would no longer boot. I have reinstalled 7077 and reinstalled 7232 twice. Windows works okay for a while and then will freeze and I will have to power off the PC and restart. But when I try to turn it back on it hangs at the Starting Windows screen. My other desktops have no troubles with Windows 7 at any build. I can start in Safe Mode but nothing else. Thanks in advance.

PS I had just finished installing Adobe CS4 software and was using Google Chrome when it froze. BD 09 is my antivirus with firewall disabled, firewall is Windows Firewall. And all are x64 installations.

CD / DVD Drivers No Longer Work
Some time in the last few weeks the CD / DVD drivers stopped working.  When I look for them using the Device Manager I see them there but they're disabled (i.e. have the yellow triangle with the red exclamation mark displayed over top of them).  When I look at the properties, I see a message telling me the drivers could not be verified to work with Windows 7.  Of course, the drivers were authored by Microsoft.

When I try to update the drivers, I get a dialogue box telling me I have the latest drivers.

Has anyone else run across this?  Is there a fix?  I can't upgrade to the RC (or anything else for that matter) as long as this issue perisists.

Scanner No Longer Supports Pdf
Among the updates available in my latest Windows 7 updates were an optional "Hewlett-Packard - Imaging, Printing - hp psc 2100 series" update (Released November 2006) and Microsoft driver update for HP psc 2100 Series.  I have no idea why this old update is available now, Windows sought out the required drivers upon install, all functionality available on my old HP psc 2110xi... I regress.

Following the update I have lost my ability to scan directly in pdf format using either Adobe Acrboat 9.0 Pro or Microsoft Fax and Scan.  Acrobat presents "Error while interacting with the scanner: the selected scanner was not found".  Windows Fax and Scan works fine, but is limited to non-pdf image format ouputs (e.g. tiff, jpg, png).  I experienced no issues of the like prior to the updates.

I've attempted to uninstall the update to no avail.  Although the updates are visible in View update history, they cannot be found in the Installed Updates pane.  Hence, there is no readily apparent way for me to remove them without rolling back my system.  I have also tried rectifying this issue using Device Manager. FAIL.

Win 7 No Longer Connects To Any Network
I installed Windows 7 over my Vista Ultimate 64 installation a couple of months ago. It has been working fine and as it is a laptop (HP) I connected via wireless to my router and had Internet access etc A couple of days ago I lost connection to the Internet via wireless (and also Ethernet which I tried).

I also noticed that the Firewall was not working any more The Diagnostics failed as the Diagnostic Policy Service was not working When I look at the Services there are a number that are not started, and when I try to start them I get a message "Error 5: Access Denied" It looks like most of these services are related, but I can't work out what component is the problem.

DVD Player No Longer Listed Anywhere In Pc
Sometime between Saturday night and Sunday my DVD player disappeared from anywhere on my pc-device manager, my computer, etc. It is listed as "unplugged" by my driver detector. I have searched for solutions and tried tweaking the registry. It seems the most common error for others is no digital signature, but as my device is not detected, I never get that error.

I tried rolling back my pc to no avail, and no updates were installed since this quit.

Win 7 No Longer Boots After Removal Of XP
I did have the following setup, on a single drive, two partitions:

345GB: Windows XP (installed first)
120GB: Windows 7

I've made a slight mistake – I've deleted the partition which hosted the MBR for my dual boot setup.
Basically, I have a single hard drive split into two partitions. I thought that I was thoroughly satisfied with Windows 7, so I decided to delete the partition which XP was sitting on. Little did I realise/remember at the time, but the XP partition held all the boot information, thus rendering my newly formed single partition unbootable. I booted GParted to ensure that my partition was intact, and it showed the following:

/dev/sda1 Extended 465GB LBA
/dev/sda5 NTFS 465GB Boot
(I manually flagged /dev/sda5 as 'boot')

This all appeared normal to me, so I put my Windows 7 disc in and attempted the various repair options. In my experience (with XP), FIXMBR from the command prompt usually fixes the issue, in this situation it hasn't. I've also tried 'BootRec.exe /fixmbr' & 'BootRec.exe /fixboot'. None of which seem to work.

My last attempt at fixing this was using the 'Startup repair' option on the Windows 7 disc. This hasn't worked either.

Can someone perhaps kindly offer me a solution? I'd rather not reinstall Windows.

Unresponding Programs Cause System To No Longer Work
Occasionally when I attempt to open Itunes, the process would start up but the program would not fully load. This also happens to other applications as well. Not sure if it's related or not but everytime the program is unable to fully load, I would not be able to access my hard drives or my directories. Windows Explorer would just not do anything.

I am unable to terminate the process as well and it just hangs and typically, I'd have to reboot the system in order for everything to work again. After a reboot, I can then open the programs that I want to. I find that maybe whenever the computer is put to sleep and it wakes up again, this issue also occurs. Is it because of my hard drives being put to sleep? How do I test to find out what's the issue or submit a bug report or something?

Installer No Longer Installs Or Removes Programs
I installed Kaspersky Antivirus 8.0 and didn't like it. So I decided to get rid of it. Upon attempting to run the uninstaller however, I get this message:

Windows Installer has stopped working.

Another windows asks if I want to send more information. I hit yes, if only to give Microsoft benchmarks on how many times this crashes.

Thinking it may be a problem with Kaspersky's installer, I moved on and tried to install Google Gears. It, too, gets the crashed Windows installer message.

Rebooting the computer isn't working.

Is there a workaround, short of blowing up my Win7 install and starting fresh, for getting Windows Installer to work? A way to reinstall just Windows Installer?

(On a side note, is there a good, free partition copying software out there? If I'm going to be reinstalling Windows 7 over and over again, I'd like to just ghost the parition onto my RAID array and refresh the partition if things go belly up)

Explorer No Longer Able To Open With Multiple Files
I can no longer "Open With" (Program X) multiple files, as in the option doesn't even exist when you right-click a file. I noticed when I was clicking several jpgs to open in Photoshop, where my default viewer is Google's Picasa (for ease of viewing and convenience). The strange thing is that I can still "Open With" individual files. I thought maybe it was just a Photoshop goof but it applies to Mp3s/Winamp and AVIs as well. This is very inconvenient!

Laptop No Longer Allows 1680*1050 On External Monitor
I have an eeepc 1000he with a viewsonic 22inch screen VX2255wmb. I have been using both for a while now with the dual screen setup without any problem. Since a couple days now, my external monitor won't show the optimal resolution which is 1600*1050. In the screen resolution set up page in windows 7,

it used to highlight the optimal ones that respected the aspect ratio of the screen but now it just shows all of them and when I set it up at 1600*1050, I get an error message on the external monitor saying that the configuration I chose is out of range. Now the highest resolution I can use is 1400*1050.

I dual boot with windows xp and I don't have this problem with it. I didnt use any driver for both Os, just plugged the monitor in and it worked.

Anyone has an idea?

Client PC No Longer Get Internet Connection From Host PC Via ICS
Alright, as mentioned, this is a strange problem for me. Previously I had the settings in both host and client setup and both work very well; client PC get internet connection whenever the host PC connected. However, it no longer get the internet connection from host PC, after a few days of my ISP down time. I am not sure what's the problem that can cause this.

Below are my PCs configurations:

Host PC

Windows 7 x64 Pro

Two LAN cards: One is connected to an ADSL modem provided by ISP, the other one connected to cross-over cable

I had both LAN cards bridged together because previously I can't get the ICS and homegroup worked together without bridging. So now I have only one MAC bridged network in host PC. I used manual dialer for my broadband connection and I have enabled ICS in the dialer. My bridged LAN has DHCP enabled, and it automatically get an IP of 192.168.1.6 with Gateway and DNS Server 192.168.1.1. (I access my modem by this IP as well).

Client PC

Windows 7 x64 Pro

One LAN card: Connected to cross-over cable

The LAN card has DHCP enabled as well. The IP it get is 192.168.1.5 and Gateway and DNS Server 192.168.1.1.

With these configuration, I can have the file sharing worked, as well as the Homegroup. But Internet connection still doesn't work for my Client PC even though I had enabled ICS on my host PC. I had tried to set the Gateway and DNS server on Client PC as my host PC IP (192.168.1.6), but it still doesn't work for me. (I had previously used this configuration and it works, I don't know why it doesn't work now)

At the Client PC, there is one red cross in between the network (center) and Internet (right) at Network and Sharing Center. When I clicked on it, it starts diagnose and it told me that 'the DNS server isn't responding' and it doesn't fix the problem for me. And when I check the full mapping of the connection in Client PC, Below is shown, with no connection to Internet while the host is connected to Internet.

http://yfrog.com/2mproblemcp

I had tried to uninstall the LAN driver, update the LAN driver, run netsh winsock reset, run netsh ipconfig /renew, reset IE settings, but still seems doesn't solve the problem.

And one thing surprises me is that even my host PC full mapping shows that I am not connected to Internet, this is really weird as I am connected without problem and the first page of the network and sharing center shown me I am connected.

http://yfrog.com/j539533861p

http://yfrog.com/0c14949721p

I suspecting the problem is caused by my host PC but I did everything that I know of but the problem still persists. Both PC doesn't change anything during the ISP downtime, and when the connection is back, this problem just suddenly come out from nowhere.

For my host PC, I had tried to uninstall drivers for both LAN cards, re-bridge, recreate the dialer etc. but still cannot solve the problem.

Any ideas guys? I knew it will be easier if buying a router to do Internet sharing but I am kind of tight in the budget, and this p2p method works pretty smooth without problem except this time. Hope any experienced networking expert can shed some light on this problem. If you require to know any info, just ask me, I am more than willing to provide any infos.

Anyway, I would like to know is the Internet sharing works without router? I checked on the guide for ICS and I found it is just using Wired Hub (which I presumed is Switch) and with ICS enabled, all computers can get the connection. Is it true? Switch is much more cheaper than a router, so I am thinking if a switch can solve the problem, I might consider getting a switch, but of course I would like to solve the problem without buying it.

Fujitsu Tablet PC ST5112 Buttons No Longer Work
The tablet pc buttons no longer work after updating to Win 7 RC, they worked under the beta. The Windows report the drivers are installed. There is no unknown Hardware reported. I have install the same drivers and utilities that I used in the beta Win 7 in the Win 7 RC but can't get the buttons to work now? The screen is unable to switch from landscape to portrait using the buttons, but it will switch using the video driver in the controle panal.

I have uninstalled all of the hardware related to the buttons and software and reinstalled, but windows just seems to ignore they are there. I have tried many different applications to scroll but doesn't work. Any ideas what could have changed between win 7 beta and Win 7 RC. Bill Smith

Suddenly Win 7 Can No Longer Access File Server
My Problem: I am on a lan which which mixed Vista/XP machines had no problems. I installed Win 7 on a machine and connected it to the network, after many reboots of the network it finally appeared. Some PC's on the network come on at a specific time to be ready for use. Win 7 can see computers on the network fine, until one get's turned on, which causes Win 7 to lose all the others.

It happened just a moment ago. One PC came on and suddenly Win 7 can no longer access the file server. This is not a networking issue because none of the other PC's experience this issue, only the Win 7 machine.Win 7 is a great OS, cleaner and faster than Vista....it's just a damn shame that the networking on it is so poor.

Optical Drives No Longer Work After Clean Install Completes
I performed a clean install of Windows 7 (Build 7100) to an internal SATA hard drive from disc using my internal drive, completed all updates and then restarted my system. Updated Bios and checked all changeable bios settings upon start up. I went to my device manger and I have 2 errors I can not seem to fix.

My wireless is not a necessity but would be nice if it worked (ASUS 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Card) has a code 10. Biggest issue and why I am on here is now my DVD/CD-ROM now has a code 39 (Memorex DVD+ -Ram 530L)

I after verifying the firmware/drivers were up to date from the Memorex and Microsoft site I tried swapping drives. I shut down then R/R a different drive (Pioneer DVD 114LG), then did same driver/firmware checks still (Code 39 error).

So once again I shut down then R/R a different drive (ASUS DRW 21B1S), then did same driver/firmware checks still (Code 39 error) Also tried another free IDE connection on my Motherboard, using drive solo tried different cables, tried different pin settings (master/slave/cable select) Swapping HD and DVD location and setting pin accordingly (Master on end device slave on other)
I also have IDE to USB converter so I was able to try all 3 DVD drives separately on another PC to verify they all work with no issues.

I tried all 3 on this computer through USB and get the same code 39 error, I have tried uninstalling and deleting all drivers for the devices as well.

Right now under DVD/CD-ROM drives. I have the Memorex connected internal (IDE) and it has code 39, and also the Pioneer is connected (USB) and it has error Code 39.

Only extra storage (a 500gb drive and a 300gb drive) is also connected through IDE and they work correctly with no errors no matter how the DVD seems to be configured.

Previous OS Windows 7beta system ran great with exception of audio and internal wireless. I eventually disabled both of them and used an external USB wireless and a USB audio dongle for those services.Windows 7 evaluation copy Build 7100

Windows 2000 No Longer Qualifies For A Win 7 Upgrade License ?
At the Microsoft store: http://store.microsoft.com/microsoft/Windows-Windows-7/category/102

it appears that Windows 2000 does not qualify for the use of a Windows 7 upgrade license. I believe that it once did.I admit that my interest is academic; I don't own a Win2k license. This may not be an issue for anyone. Has there been a change?(It would resolve an apparent inconsistency of the license. I have read claims that a Win7 upgrade license requires an installed *and activated* qualifying OS. Win2k doesn't use Windows Product Activation.)
