ATA UDMA ATA Maxtor Not Recognized In W7 64bit
Finally have W7 running however it can not see my original C: drive 60Gb maxtor. As the W7 is separate from the original XP 32bit (dual boot) I wanted to be able to use drivers & programs on this drive to actually start using the 64bit system. (Beyond some other problems with drivers everything seems to be okay). Should I try to find Vista drivers to be able to access this drive. I have already copied all the drivers from the ATA to the SATA drive that W7 is installed on to no avail. When restarting in XP (on the aforementioned HD) the system starts normally. Also have issues with my Linksys WRT54GC USB network dongle but have found a 64bit vista driver for it & will attempt an install later today. (will let u know)

Move A Serial Ata Hard Drive From Pc To Another
Our 4 year old Gateway FX400XL desktop with two 250GB, 7200RPM Serial ATA hard drives recently quit booting up. Windows 7 Ultimate (beta and then RC) was 32 bit OS with a dual boot for XP on one partitioned drive and Win 7 on the other. No problems with Windows 7 or the dual boot.We need the data off the Win 7 drive and want to move the drive to a Dell with Intel Xeon CPU, an empty Serial ATA slot, with Windows 7 Ultimate (same image as the Gateway's).Can we remove drive from dead one and plug it into the Dell with success? Is any preparation necessary, like sysprep?

TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L632N ATA CD/DVD Drive Not Working
CD/DVD drive not working! My TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L632N ATA Device that worked fine in Vista Ultimate 64-bit does not work in Windows 7 64-bit. It provides it as an option to boot from it (when I left the Win7 DVD in it). It runs to read a disk when I insert the disk, & Device Manager is aware of it. BUT - it won't work. It does NOT appear as a drive in the "Computer" list in explorer. It does not read/play my games. In the device properties it says the following: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)

Win 7 Loses Drives Randomly Drive 0 Not Found: Serial ATA, SATA 0
I have a random problem with Win 7 going black screen, showing a Dell error message: Drive 0 Not Found: Serial ATA, SATA0 Press F1 to continue, F2 to configure. When I got this message early after install, it was suggested it was caused by sleep/hibernate modes. I turned them off. I also could eliminate the problem by using System Rollback. Unfortunately, Rollback points are no longer available. Now it just happens intermittently. It does NOT happen in the other partition, running XP-MCE; only in the Win7 partition. How do I fix this, especially given the lack of restore points? Dell 8400, BIOS driver v9.

Samsung F1 Drive Install Issue
Existing Setup Abit IN9 32-Max, 2gig OCZ, E6300, WD 250g, Windows 7 v7264 x32 NO issues, everything runs fine. Removed WD 250g and switched to Samsung F1 Spinpoint 750g drive (which is essentially my old gamming system running on xp). Cannot install Windows 7, regardless of version, locks halfway through install. Hard reset and Drive is no longer detected. I experienced this same issue back when I had the gaming system and the only way to fix it was to disable Command Qeueing ( which was recommended by users with same issue ). The problem seems to be with the nvidia chipset ( in this case 6) not playing nice with some Samsung drives. However, I was able to install XP and of course disable this option. PC then ran fine for a year, no lockups. Basically same system, but will not allow Windows 7 to install. Ive tried different sata ports, different partitions, different Windows 7 versions, different bios settings... Always locks halfway through.

Hard Drive Speed - Samsung Spinpoint
I have just put together a new PC and have 2 Samsung Spinpoint (sata300) hard disks installed. I have had a look at Windows 7 performance utility and although all the other components rate very well, the disk data transfer rate is the same as my previous PC. Very disappointing to say the least. I have an Asus P7P55 motherboard with 4Go RAM. Am I to believe this low rating (5.9) or is it not very reliable? If it is, do I need to tweak something?

HP Colorado 8 GB ATA Device
Running Windows 7 Evaluation Copy Build 7100, Windows Virtual PC running WinXP SP3 (my additional copy of WinXP).One of the unknown device says it can not find necessary software for tape drive (I have an HP Colorado 8Gb IDE), if I try to use generic qic157.sys driver I lose integration tools. When I try to remove the device, it caused Windows 7 to crash (blue screen). Is the release version of Windows Virtual PC going to have the same device capabilities as WinXP?Windows 7 does recognize the Tape Drive as HP Colorado 8GB ATA Device. When I installed Windows 7 it did not recognize JMicron JMB36X Raid Controller (used Vista drivers from manufactures web site) not sure if that is one of unknown devices

Matshita UJ-850S ATA DVD Ram Driver Issue
After installing Windows seven on my Acer Aspire 5050 laptop, I got the following message in the Task bar - The software for this device has been blocked from startingbecause it is known to have problems with Windows. Contact the hardware vendor for a new driver. (code 48) - So I searched Acer's support site to see if they had a new driver and could not find one. I then contacted Acer support via email and asked it a new driver would be available and if not did they have a web address for Matshita and they responded that as my laptop was now out of warranty I could call for support but I would have to pay to get an answer.(IMO this is not very good customer support) I have googled this and I cannot find anything to do with this issue. Likewise with the Microsoft knowledge base. I try using driver dectective, but it says my driver is up to date. I also tried to uninstall the driver so that it would re-install on re-start, but although it successfully uninstalled windows will not re-install the driver. Does anyone know where I might be able to find a windows 7 dirver for this device? Or is there a way that I can prevent Windows 7 from blocking it?

PROMISE ULTRA 133 TX2 (PCI To ATA) Driver Issue
I tried to install the WIN32 (XP) driver that works with XP PRO 32 - it doesn't work with W7 64 Bit. I also tried the Vista driver - same problem. The driver folder contains the inf file, the cab file and the sys file. However, the "force-install" (right click - install) doesn't work - error message: 'The inf file you selected does not support this method of installation' What exacly does that mean? Does this mean that W7 uses a different concept of driver installation than the current versions of windows OS - or does it mean that there are syntax errors in the inf file, or does it mean information is missing? (or a combination of those) Is there an indepth (comprehensive) spec for the inf file format used with W7? drivers from http://www.promise.com/support/download/download2_eng.asp?productID=87&category=all&os=100 The latest available BIOS (2.10.0.15) is installed on the card.
