Random Black Screen Crashes
I just recently built a new computer and installed Windows 7 Pro 64-bit (specs below). I'm having these very random full black screen crashes. The screen goes completely black, no mouse or taskbar. But the system stays on. I can open the dvd drive as well. No odd noises come from the computer either.
I checked my Event Logs and there are alot of Error's, Critical's and some Warning. The most common ones are "Service Control Manager", "PNRPSvc", and "Kernel-Power" & "Kernel-General."

Random Black Screen Lockups
I don't know if this is the known black screen of death or if the symptoms are different but I'm getting annoyed by this problem. I can use my laptop just fine, I'm actually writing this post from it. But every now and then, a black screen pops up and there's nothing I can do, no key presses do anything, no mouse, it's just black. I need to reboot the computer by pressing the power button. This happens out of the blue whenever it feels like it... I'm able to run the OS for days or even weeks without happening it, but every now and then and boom, black screen... It happened on very different occasions. I can only remember one of them cause it happened just a few minutes ago and I had just come off of hibernation but the internet connection wasn't quite working yet and so messenger wasn't connected. I then pressed the "connect" button on messenger manually instead of waiting for it to connect automatically and it was when I pressed the button that the black screen appeared. It doesn't happen every time I press the connect button... My system has not changed that much and there's nothing I've installed that I hadn't used before. I also haven't updated the video drivers since I installed Windows 7 and never had a problem with the system (my laptop is old and there are no driver updates anyway). I don't know if it's just a coincidence or not, but I never had this problem and I'm running Windows 7 since it was out for MSDN. I've only started to see this happening when the first news about this so called "black screen of death" started to appear. Before that, this never happened before.. It happened again just a few minutes ago.. I was simply typing a post at some forum and boom, black screen, forced reboot.. Dammit, it happened again while I was simply double-clicking an icon on the notification are to open up an application... Event Log only shows this: "ERROR: The previous system shutdown at 20:02:34 on ‎20-‎12-‎2009 was unexpected." And also this because I had to forcefully power it off: "CRITICAL: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly." Nothing else relevant on the Event Long I'm afraid... Any idea what might this be and to fix it?

Video Games Black Screen That Crashes While In Full Screen
All the games I had when I used Windows Vista were playable. Now with Windows 7, whenever any of my games starts in full screen mode, my monitor turns black and does nothing else. The monitor still detects my computer because the monitor gave me no error of a missing input. I cannot alt+tab or Ctrl+Alt+Del or even WindowsLogo+Tab and I am forced to cut the power and restart. After long tiring research giving me such suspects like DirectX 11, disabling Aero, to the all popular lacking computer requirements to play the game I could play before I installed Windows 7. My conclusion was I could play games as long as there are not in full screen mode or in other words Windowed Mode. Why must I play all my games in Windowed Mode to play them on Windows 7? Is there a way to fix this problem? I have already tried to play a few games in compatibility mode and it does not change anything.

Random Crashes, BSODs, Freezes
I think this all started after I did a RAM upgrade It began with programs stopping (kernel32.dll, idon'tknowthenameanymore.dll) But also games are just freezing after some time, mw2, ac, cod4. They all crash randomly. Now sometimes the whole system freezes and I have to reset it. Also, I get various BSOD's (ie IRQl not less or equal) I think it has somethin to do with my memory, I have 4 gb dual corsair 1066 kit combined with 2 gb Reaper 1066. I am thinking of re-installing windows, because I didn't install it after the upgrade Or do you guys think that the memory is corrupted? Random Win 7 X64 Crashes And Freezes
every time i try to install windows 7 on my new build, i do a clean install, however it spends about a second on the copying files part, then waits a few minutes before it starts expanding files. it hangs at 0% for a few more minutes then it will start accelerating. it will crash at random points while it is "expanding files". the crashes vary, sometimes the display will explode and look lagged out then look like small tiles, the display sometimes turns red where shadows are as well, it also likes to just freeze. it frequently likes to freeze at 76 or 46%. i had 7 installed one time when i kept my mouse moving constantly throughout the installation, but then the freezes would happen when i would boot into normal windows, but not safe mode.

Random White Screen
I am having issues with Windows 7 locking up with a White background. Sometimes the audio continues but not every time. Crtl Alt Del does not do anything and my only option is to hold down the power button to force a hard shutdown. I do not get any dump files even if I leave the system in that state for hours. I have updated my BIOS to the latest, I have all of the latest drivers for my system but nothing seems to correct the problem. I have tried replacing the Video card and RAM but again, nothing corrects the issue. Any suggestions?

Recurrent Random Blue Screen
I've been getting random Blue Screen errors lately. By random I mean that every 3 sessions out of 5 ends in a Blue Screen. 1. When playing games - Torchlight, The Witcher, Modern Warfare 2, etc. Â - happens expectedly when playing - just a matter of how long it will happen (sometimes you can play for 2 hours straight, sometimes in just 15 minutes) Â - usually ends with a repeating BURRRR sound as per the last sound file played before hanging up. 2. Heavy surfing using the latest Mozilla Firefox browser(v.3.5.5) - 30% chance that it will happen Here are my relevant system specs: AMD Athlon 7850 Dual-Core Processor 2.80 Ghz RAM: 4.00 GB DDR II SDRAM Win 7 32-bit motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-US2H rev.1.0 Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS Driver Date: 9/27/2009 Driver version:8.16.11.9107 I have also secured this system with an APC UPS 500 ES power backup unit to ensure it doesn't get damaged by power interruptions. Here's the latest problem details that Windows 7 had in its report: And I wrote down the relevant codes on the Blue Screen - this is all it shows aside from the normal "If this is the first time ..." text. STOP: 0x00000124 (0x00000000,0x86591024,0xB4302000,0x00000135) Note that this is the latest set of codes. It was different 2 sessions ago. I'm asking anybody's opinion on this as this was not a problem on this system when I was using Win XP on it. I did a fresh install (not an upgrade) to Win 7 early this year. I was not able to track whether it was a software installation or upgrade that led to these Blue Screens. Same hardware I used since Win XP, though - no changes. I hope you can help me determine what the problem is - software or hardware so I can take the appropriate steps (whether I should re-install, or just update drivers, or change hardware components or, worse case - going back to Win XP).

Extremely Random Win 7 Blue Screen Help
So I recently installed the latest build 7100 of Windows 7 RC. About once or twice a day I get random blue screens. My screen will distort and then kind of jumble all the lines together as if random colors are on the screen (I'm speaking of lines not pictures) and then blue screen. I don't think it's a hardware issue as my laptop is sufficiently cooled and is fairly new. Here's the error log: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.1.7100.2.0.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1033 Additional information about the problem: BCCode: 19 BCP1: 00000020 BCP2: 8520D000 BCP3: 8520D300 BCP4: 08600000 OS Version: 6_1_7100 Service Pack: 0_0 Product: 256_1 Files that help describe the problem: C:WindowsMinidump

Blue Screen, Frequent Crashes
The crashes started almost immeditately after I got this computer, in January 2009. They have steadily got worse, until the last few weeks it has been several times a day. My dad is into computers, and has worked with me the last few weeks, even taking it to his house for a day or so. We thought a clogged heatsink might have been the problem, but I don;t think it is. 5-6 errors usually follow within a couple minutes, they are: Event Log Event ID 1000--Previous shutdown was unexpected. Critical Error: Kernel-Power--41--The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. Atikmdag--52236---CPLIB--General--Invalid Parameter Atikmdag--43029--Display not active Service Control Manager--7009--A timeout was reached (30000 miliseconds) while waiting for lxdnCATScustConnectService service to connect Service Control Manager--7000--The lxdnCATScustConnectService failed to start due to the floowing error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. This is the order the errors come in. We have ran diagnostics, dad has checked hardware, I am completely loss on this. Kernel-Power is the only critical error I get.

Crashes With Blue Screen Of Death
I'm using an HP Pavilion DV7 Entertainment notebook. I've installed 7 Beta and had NO issues. I installed 7RC and it crashes daily. I have the .dmp files for analysis. HP has nothing to do with 7 yet because its not a GA release. How can I go about diagnosing where the problem is so that i can see if it can even be fixed? I've looked in the event logs, temp folder under my user name, .dmp file, looked at installed apps, the antivirus (Kaspersky), +++. I use predominantly MS apps. there are a few non native Microsoft apps such as Nero 9, Kaspersky, Blackberry Desktop, etc. any suggestions?

Frequent Crashes / Blue Screen Errors
I have been using Windows 7 for the past 10 days. As a part of the testing, i have installed multiple softwares in the system. Most of them are Microsoft recommended. None of them are heavy one's. But off late i have been seeing that windows crashes every few minutes. Every time its some blue screen error message. The first few days, it was very stable, but now, these frequent crashes are very annoying. I hope there is some solution. **Â My windows is completely updated. The AVG antivirus running is also updated.

Post Is Fine Then Black Screen After Windows Start Screen
After a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit everything is great until I shut it down. When I turn it back on the boot is normal until just after the startup screen then the Monitor goes black and into sleep mode while the PC seems to continue on. It doesn't do it all of the time. I have loaded all the latest drivers for Win 7 for all the hardware I have. I post mentioned the CRT Monitor had to be shut down for and hour then he could see the windows screen. He also said the LCD monitor was fine. So, is this the fix? a new Monitor? or is there some setting I can adjust to get past the black/sleep screen issue?

Black Screen After Coming Out Of Screen Saver
I have a lenovo X61 which I removed all partions of and installed W7U x64. downloaded the lenovo update utility and the combination of lenovo auto download and windows update installed all necessary drivers. Machine was working beautifully for at least 4 weeks. Then once I was working without the power plugged with over 50% of charge left. Went away for a while came back and the machine was I assume in blank screen saver mode. I moved the point tracker, typed some keys but the deep black screen would not go away. tried forcing to go into sleep by shutting the cover. that didn't work. Tried for force it into hibernation by pressing the power button once that didn't work. Hard reset it by pressing the power button until it went off.when rebooted it allowed me to login but Symantec NIS2010 gave me an error that it is was not activated although it was. I restarted the machine and this time it will not boot. Tried safe mode. No luck.I had to reinstall everything again 4 days ago.Yesterday again, I got the black screen when my laptop went into blank screen saver mode with no power connected to it.Hard reset was the only solution. This time I started up in Safe Mode then restarted and it is working fine. However, I do not want to risk going through the same issue again. We are configuring a volume mirror replication at work to recover faster if something happens again. But this is very troubling, time consuming and frustrating. any ideas what the issue might bet?

Black Screen Instead Of Logon Screen
I use the bios selection to boot from either drive A or B.I use Windows dual-boot menu on drive B to select between Vista and 7RC. The black screen problem was first observed with both the 32-bit and the 64-bit versions of the Beta distributed at the Installation Festival. I had taken only one monitor to the festival and everything appeared to be working fine then. Once home, I noticed that I had no sound. I downloaded drivers for my SPXFI card and got sound but, got the black screen on reboot. I asumed that the SB driver was the cause. I had configured the Display on DVI 2 as my main display. I then tried the 32-bit version with the same results. I had purchased a brand new 1TB drive for my Win 7 experimentation. I had disabled my main drive (A) throught the BIOS for installation. I hastily concluded that W7 was not quite ready for my system. I installed Vista Home Premium on my B drive using the same method and everything worked fine. When RC was announced, I downloaded the 64-bit version, created a partition on my B drive and installed it there while my A drive was disabled from the BIOS. Installation went fine but I encountered the same black screen problem on the final reboot. However, I observed the odd disk activity and did not want to turn of the computer while this was going on. I tried Ctrl-Alt-Delete and other things and managed to get some voice from the computer. I had activated the Access functionality from the invisible logon screen. I did another Ctrl+Alt+Delete, typed my password and followed by Enter. The monitor connected to DVI 1 immediately came on. I did not have a menu bar because I had specified the other monitor as my primary one. A right-click on the screen brought up the contextual menu, from which I selected Personalize > Display > Change display settings. Clicking the "Detect" button turned on the second monitor. I plan on altering my connection so that my main display will be on DVI 1 instead of 2. In the mean time, I will blind-type my password and restore the settings.

Black Screen On TV
it's a normal tv output failure, but i'm not sure it's nvidia or windows fault. (W7x64, 9800gt, standard vga out&input into a normal 100hz tv). While bios loading everything works perfectly. but in windows i can't get but black screen on tv. i can't setup the tv options, because there's nothing like that. it displays a secound monitor, but not as a tv. i can't set a lower resolution & hz to tv, because it won't display the created one's (like 640@50 or 100 hz) amongst the choosable resolutions. only the defaults appear there. for xp and an older nvidia there was a solution - 'downgrade' the driver. there was a registry file, which gave back an older nvidia control panel, and i could set up everything perfectly. but now i have no clue.
