Product Key Error - Invalid Key For This Version Of Windows
Just successfully installed Win 7(RC) on a partition I created on a Vista(32-bit) Home Premium machine,so now I've set up a dual-boot. Anyways,as I am going to enter the product key that was given with my download it's giving me an "invalid key for this version of Windows" error. And along the process of identifying the cause,I realized I've installed a "Home Premium" version of the RC download;is this how it's supposed to be?
This RC,a Home Premium version? Just want to verify because on the Computer's property page it's saying it's only a "30-day eval copy". How am I going to get another product key for this version of th RC?For what I've read through forums, this RC is supposed to be an Ultimate version? Anybody?

Dell Studio 17 Invalid Product Key
Brand new dell studio 17 with Windows 7 home premium (1 month) now shows invalid product key and I can't activate it. I have a brand new laptop from dell (studio 17 - 64bit) with Windows 7 home premium which was working fine for about a month. Now the machine tells me I have an non-genuine version of Windows 7 and when I try to activate it, it tells me I have to buy a new license? Any ideas and yes, I know I can slmgr -rearm, but it's a legal copy and dell says it's M/S's problem.

Student Version Product Key
This isn't something I'd do necessarily, but in theory would I be able to install Windows 7 Home Premium RTM (x86 or x64) and then use a legit product key from, for example the $30 student edition? I'd think it'd work, because the only thing different from the $30 edition and the full ~$200 edition is the price. It's the same OS otherwise. I ask also because what if I lose the ISO / burned disc of the digital download that's found here: http://www.win741.com/ ? The product key I'd be getting with the $30 Home Premium would be legit, so I don't see why it wouldn't work. Are student edition product keys VLKs? I'm not proud of this nor am I condoning it, but when I needed a copy of XP Pro I obtained via torrent. It was Windows XP Professional Student Edition, and the key was a VLK. Is that the same with Windows 7 keys when sold as a student edition?

I tried Windows 7 Starter, Home Basic and Ultimate keys from MSDN.The install patch I used was from MSDN, that one is Home Premium 32-bit,  but I found all Starter, Home Basic, Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate have the same size. I guees I can use this installer. Do I need to download the Starter version from MSDN?

Upgrade From Win XP / Vista To Win7: Product Key Language Version
We currently run 3 PCs at home (all 32 bit): PC 1: German Windows Vista Home Premium PC 2 & 3: English Windows XP Home I'd like to purchase the Windows 7 family pack (English) to upgrade all of the PCs (clean install preferred). Questions: 1. Can all 3 PCs be upgraded to the English version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit with the family pack, despite the different language versions? 2. When performing a clean install, is it sufficient to enter the product key of the previously installed system when using the upgrade disk/key or is the old system required on the harddisk? 3. Just to confirm: The family pack comes with both, the 32 bit and 64 bit version for Windows 7 Home Premium?

Specify Windows 7 Product Key In Existing WIM
I have created an image to roll out to 15 computer using WDS booting from PXE. I sysprepped the computer before capturing the image back to the WDS server. What I found is that the product key is not saved when computers download the image. Users are having to input the product key and activate. How can I make sure that the product key gets applied to the Windows 7 installation when it's being deployed to the computer? I was hoping to put it in the image itself instead of having to use an unattend.xml file on removable media. I'm using a single Volume License key.

Product Key For Windows 7 RC1 And Previous Beta
I downloaded Win7 RC1 x64 and installed it on two test machines. I have a couple of questions about product keys that I hope someone can clear up.(i) I foolishly forgot to note down the product key when I downloaded Win7 RC1. I noticed that the website seemed to generate one when offering to start the download. Is there a way to log back into to the website and retrieve the key/a new key? (Or generate a new one without starting a second download and then aborting it.)(ii) If a user wishes to test on more than one machine this is I presume ok? What's the story with product keys in that case?(iii) Are product keys for the earlier Betas good for RC1? I have a key for the (most recent?) Beta as downloaded in Jan 2009 but which was never activated.(iv) What about x64 vs x86 keys? (Ditto RC1 vs RC2 if there should be one).(v) Do I need to keep a list of which boxes have (or have had) which keys activated on them if I need to wipe and reinstall? I'd need to set up several boxes to make a homegroup of course.

Activation Error - Put The Product Key
I already had Windows Vista on my PC and Windows XP on my Laptop and bought Windows 7 Ultimate from my Students software supplier, assuming that I could install the software on the two computers. I installed the software on my Laptop first and it seemed to install OK and then later I installed it on my main PC but two weeks later I am getting a message on my Laptop saying that 'there is a problem with my Windows 7 Ultimate activation, please put the Product key in or buy another copy of the software' ? I tried putting the software key in but to no avail and when I tried writing to Microsoft using my main PC, Microsoft's automated system could not recognise the product key I was putting in. Maybe the Students Edition of Windows 7 does not qualify for help from Microsoft, or something. To say I am frustrated it to put it lighly, I had a valid version of Windows XP provided with my laptop and I bought a legal version of Windows Vista for my main PC but as an impecunious student I just cannot afford to spend too much on software and now it looks as though I will have to go back to Windows XP on my Laptop because I'm sure that Microsoft will not let me transfer my legal copy of Windows Vista to my laptop. It is quite confusing to have two such different operating systems between my laptop, used at University and my home PC, which has a printer and various other goodies attached plus it is time consuming to install the new software or to uninstall it plus it is getting very expensive. Please tell me that I can use Windows 7 on my two PC's, laptop and PC or that I can transfer my copy of Windows Vista to my laptop. Incidentally, my copy of Windows 7 was very late arriving and the Students software company who supplied it said that this was because many hundreds of copies of the software, including one with my name on it had been stolen and they had to cancel all of the old product keys and it took them more than 2 weeks to do this and send out new ones.

Product Key Error Has Occured, Retype
I'm a vista Volunteer and i need to usemy computer a lot for my assignment. I had a laptop, but I had used up most of the capicity and it died. I had asked Microsoft for a cheaper version of 7 as I could afford to buy the 7 package. They sent me a trial of RC 7, The product key was sent to me 6/20/09. When I tried to install it on my old computer it wouldn't install. Two weeks later my computer died. I had to buy a new computer. I was told it had Windows Vista on it. I entered the product key and I did have Vista for two weeks. Then I lost it. When I called the store where I bought the computer, they told me I only had a short trial peroid and I had to buy the upgrade. I cannot afford the upgrade. In order to do my job I need the upgrade. I tried to install the product key on my new computer and it won't accept it. What now? I tried askin Microsoft about the problem and they sent me here. So, here I am.

Help With Activation Code : Invalid Key
i recently installed the RC of windows 7 ultimate. the version is like 7600 er sumthin i dunno. im pretty computer savvy but everytime i generate a key from microsoft it says it is an invalid key and refuses to activate. any help with this would be great. also, i installed the rc about a month after the downloads stopped, so i dont know if that would have caused the issue...and i installed the it via an iso image mounted onto a virtual drive, so it dont know if that would have also contributed to this.
