Philips Webcam Drivers Not Supported
I have a webcam that worked decently in windows xp. Sadly it's a cheap Phillips model whose website says vista drivers won't be supported. I'm wondering if there is any way to get the xp driver to work for it. I've been hearing alot about this "xp mode", might it work for hardware too or is it just a virtual environment for software?
Is it a lost cause? Is there perhaps a way to install the xp driver files by hand? I'm hoping that the installer just doesn't put them in the right place ... or are there innate differences in how a webcam driver would work from xp to Win7?
I'm running the 64bit RC from the microsoft site... 7100 i guess.

Philips SPC900NC/00 Usb Webcam / Mic Issue
I have similar problems with xp virtulisation - rather than start a new thread, I would continue with this one as the probs are similar with sound/mic.I have Q8400, GA-EP35C-DS3R, 2gb RAM, 320GB sata dual boot xp pro + W7 - bios virulisation enabled. I also have a philips SPC900NC/00 usb webcam/mic - show up in device manager under usb a/v composite device - loaded latest xp drivers into the xp mode okay, it requires attaching as a unidentified device.Device manager shows 3 unknown devices (one I suspect is the pci modem, the others may be the pci usb card, and maybe the graphics card? I added the line as above in UI_Options to the vmc file - this had the benefit in control/panel sounds of giving sb16 mic/speaker options.I tried the other options of turning the integration on/off, cold reboots etc, but I still have sound probs.I am unable to get xp mode to recognise the webcam or any options to use the mic, I do now get the terrible sb16 sound from the speakers but thats it. I have had huge probs with the XP mode, which I won't go into here as I have been able to fix most of them be starting from scratch again and again. I hope this is useful feedback - I would appreciate some suggestions as to how these issues maybe resolved? Edit: I notice in XP proper the webcam is listed in the device manager under imaging devices - maybe this is why xp mode is not recognising the webcam? I tried uninstalling the webcam in xpmode however this hangs.  I am also having probs now in getting xp mode to shut down - it is hanging (I have changed the option to prompt) I am pulling my hair out with all these issues with XP mode - it is far from being a reliable option - it has a long way to go before I could recommend to clients as a stepping stone to W7. I somehow doubt that this add-on will be ready for W7 October launch? Edit 2: I have now totally removed XP mode, as well as all files relating with the appdata folders. I have started over in a controlled manner to see where the problems lie. It does seem to be about how xp mode installs extra drivers necessary to attach equipment that is not emulated in xp mode. Step one was to update the vmc settings so thet memory and close down options were changed to 512mb and "shut down" respectively. I then ensured that Windows XP updates were fully installed first with a cold reboot after. I also checked that xpmode would shut down properly which it did. I then reopened xpmode, and installed the webcam xp latest drivers (note the the webcam video/audio work fine on both xp and W7 dual boot systems). I noticed in xpmode device manager which I failed to notice before, that although the webcam is listed it stated that no drivers were installed. I rebooted the whole system and tried again, this time attaching the webcam - same situation. I tried installing the vista drivers - no good, then tried doing a repair install of the xp drivers which appeared to partially work in that the device manager now shows the drivers as being installed (I note that native XP lists the webcam under "imaging devices" whereas in xpmode it is listed under usb a/v composite devices). However the webcam does not work with applications either in video or audio components (note at this time I did not make the changes to the UI_options as articulated above). I also noted that the shut down hanging issue is also attributable to the webcam issue - if the webcam is attached at any time the shut down hangs even in this most recent scenario - however if the webcam is not attached at any time during ax XPmode session then the shut down is okay. Any ideas?

Drivers For Logitech Webcam Zoom
I have a Logitech Webcam Zoom (the white and blue model). It is USB connected. Windows 7 only detects it as unknown USB device. I found some discussion on the internet for a workaround..... - install an old driver/softwer - then install a new driver/software With that, I now have the webcam detect/showup correctly on Device Manager. The webcam seems to be functioning ok with the Logitech Quick Capture software. But I couldn't get it to work with LiveMessenger. Any idea?

Monitor Won't Do Supported Refresh-No Official Drivers
I have a ViewSonic 19" CRT (Professional Series P95f+) There are drivers for Vista 64, however 7 won't take them and the monitor I have is not listed when I try to choose it from the list. I tried similar models but still the monitor will only do 85hz at the highest even in low resolutions. This monitor can do 160hz in 800x600, 120hz in 1024x768 and 100hz in 1280x960, 90hz in 1280x1024 I believe. I tried using a custom driver that I made in Rivatuner but it only works on Windows XP. I tried the latest version of Rivatuner but the button for Create Driver is not clickable no matter how I set it up, and it doesn't correctly detect the monitor (perhaps because I'm using 2 monitors at once, not sure). Any suggestions on how I can force windows 7 to use higher refresh rates? This monitor looks like absolute crap when it's not at full refresh....especially next to my nice new TRUE 120hz 22" LCD (ViewSonic VX2265WM).

Is Network Protocol Drivers Related Applications Supported By Windows PE 3.0 / 2.0 ?
I developed an app which works with network protocol drivers(based on NDISProt 6.0 protocol driver sample in WDK). It really works on Winodws 7 for senging or receiving ethernet packets. For some reasons, I want to apply it to Windows PE environment.I have tried a lot on installing this app on PE, and now, the app can send packets successfully(These packets can be received on another machine with Win7 environment). But it failed to receive any packet on Windows PE 3.0. I'm sure that ethernet packets really reach the network adapter and indicator light flashes fast, but the app shows that none packet received.... I have struggled on this for several days but no further progress.I found that in Windows AIK document, "Windows PE is a subset of Windows 7, and has the following limitations:...The supported methods of connecting to file servers are TCP/IP and NetBIOS over TCP/IP. Other methods, such as the IPX/SPX network protocol, are not supported...." Is it means that WinPE does not support other network protocol but TCP/IP? Are my app and drivers limitted by PE too? Or the Winodws PE 2.0/3.0 network environment needs more configurations? I have disabled the firewall in the PE initialization phase.

Driver Issues HP 400i / Philips DVD8401
I'm attempting to install windows 7 ultimate on a desktop. It's a dual core AMD, 2 gigs of ram, etc. It has a DVD drive out of a HP a640N, which HP says is a Philips DVD8401 (this is a IDE drive, not SATA). I mention this because after I select my language and keyboard type, after it says "starting setup" for a very long time, I come to a screen that says "A driver for a CD/DVD drive is missing, please insert a USB drive or CD with the driver on it" or something to that effect. I have tried downloading all the drivers from the HP site and putting them on a DVD and having it search that, but to no avail. I am rather confused to how it can't find a driver for a device it is seemingly using just fine. I have installed win 7 from this DVD before with no problem on my HP Tx2 tablet, so I doubt it's the DVD.

Philips 200vw Monitor Auto Adjustment
i'm using the german rc1 built 7100 right now and everythings fine except 1 thing. i have a philips 200vw 20" monitor connected to my 9800gtx+ graphic card. while starting up as soon as the display changes from the regular "dos mode" to the black screen "starting windows..." with the windows logo on it the monitor starts to auto scan and adjust the right position on the screen (it's way too far to the right at this point). as soon as the next screen shows up (the blue one windows loading) everythings fine again (from here he is using the actual desktop resolution 1680x1050. this happens during EVERY computer startup and it's pretty annoying... :/. i also tried to stop booting the machine with f5 to access the menu so i can manually adjust the location of the screen (the menu is way to far to the right, so its the same resolution as the black startup screen). seems like my monitor doesn't get the right sync signal. well, i can't center that menu and the setting are not saved. and after rebooting it's the same thing...the monitor is trying to auto adjust and center the black loading screen. i've been running xp and linux ubuntu before and this never happened. updating drivers also brought no change - they are not relevant at this point of the booting process anyway, i guess. connecting another older monitor of the same brand from my daughters computer worked well, no auto adjust failure anymore... so this must be a problem between windows 7 and THIS special model, the philips 200vw only i guess.

Philips SAA713x PCI TV Card PROBLEM
I need little help with my tv tuner card. I bought it like one year ago, it worked on XP prof. but it doesn't work on my Windows 7 32 bit. So the problem is the driver (I think).. On the disk which i got with the card there are two drivers for XP and rest of that OS like ME Win 98, and for Vista... I tried to install both of them but neither didn't work. When I had it installed on my XP the program name was honestach, and when I installed in for Vista the name was TV Expert, so I need some program that is similar to this only for Win 7 When I open setup it says Philips SAA713x PCI TV card. Ok so when I installed driver for vista and opened the program I noticed that there is no Picture, I mean I cant watch any channel neither to hear it. The only thing that works is the remote control I can change channel, or mute or basically I can do everything but theres no picture.. So does anyone have any similar TV tuner card or had some similar problem, I would like to hear it, and hear how to solve my problem.. Also I tried to go to properties and set that compatibility but it didn't help.
