I'm trying to sort out issues with this Packard Bell laptop for a friend and his daughter. The machine starts to boot, gets to a "Windows Starting" logo screen and then when the screen goes back it just hangs. There is a mouse curosr that you can move around but no screen to do anything with. i have tried booting it into safe mode with the same result. i took the drive out and put it in a caddy linked to my PC and the file structure is all there. i ran chkdsk on it which found and fixed afew problems (so it said) but when I put the drive back in the laptop it still refused to get past this black screen. I'm tempted to buy this Win 7 recovery disc and see what happens when I boot from that, but I'm wondering if there is anything I have missed. The machine hasn't got a Win 7 OS disc.
recently I installed fresh windows 7 64 bit and get stuck with the On-Screen Display, but the thing is before I replaced my old windows 7 64 bit I had On-Screen Display when I used keyboard buttons to put volume up/down, put wireless on/off etc. I could see changes on middle of bottom screen, I have installed 'the synaptic touchpad driver' but isn't showing up me nothing about that on screen display
I just bought a month ago (in Switzerland) a Packard-Bell Dot m/u. Very nice little machine equipped with Windows Vista Home Premium in French. I benefit from the "free" (15 EUR handling fees) upgrade to Windows 7, I followed all the instructions and expect to receive the DVD (French version) some time soon.
Now comes the tricky part, my nice and neat Netbook does not have a DVD player!! And I have not seen it available as an accessory. How should I do then once I receive the DVD?
I do have another notebook with Vista Home Premium (English version) and a DVD player so I see 3 possibilities:
- Install Windows 7 on that other notebok (if language versions are not an issue) and keep the netbook with Vista
- Find some trick to save that DVD as a file (.ISO or something like that?), transfer it to the netbook with an external hard-drive and manage to start that file in some way on the netbook (isn't there some kind of programs that simulates a DVD player?)

I have a Packard Bell Easynote TM with windows 7. The problem I have is the touchpad is completely frozen and I'm having to use a usb mouse of my pc to use the laptop, which is annoying the kids because they can no longer use the pc so I have a dilemma with kids and laptop

I recently bought a Packard Bell EasyNote TS computer, but F1-12 is completely messed up with hotkeys and stuff. This kinda sucks as I use these buttons all the time while gaming... How do I disable F5 to enable dual monitors, and F3 to disable / enable wifi, etc. Extremely annoying while gaming World of Warcraft, and i hit the F2 button and PackardBell MyBackup pops up and messes up the whole game...
