PCI-E Nvidia Video Card Installation Failure
Has anyone been able to install windows 7 RC1 (32 or 64 bit) from scratch with their PCI-E Nvidia video card installed.I always have an stop x00000124 BSOD.The only remedy is to use my onboard VGA, however, this does not support my primary use as a HTPC.I have tried installing older nvidia drivers once RC has been installed with only onboard VGA, which still results in more BSODs.Has Microsoft acknowledged an issue here? I would love to get this working properly but to no avail so far.

Pci-to-Pci Bridge (Error: Code 10) - PCI Video Card
I'm running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit edition, not the Beta or RC. I have 3 video cards in my possession (listed below). - (PCIe) Evga GTX260 - (PCI) Evga 9400GT - (PCI) Evga Fx5500 Out of those 3 cards I only use the GTX260 and the 9400GT. I had to 'retire' the Fx5500 because the latest WHQL (certified) drivers only provide support as far down as the "6 series" Nvidia cards. Unfortunately the Fx5500 is a "5 series" and falls below that line. I have already tried to use the GTX260 and Fx5500 in previous versions of Windows (XP and Vista), but there is no way to download and install two separate drivers for two of the same make of video card - you'll get nothing but errors. There is the option of going to a place like guru3d.com and downloading a custom supported driver that covers both the GTX260 and Fx5500, but the drivers are not certified and lack support. Therefore, I purchased and now use the 9400GT which is covered under the drivers for the GTX260 and eliminates the need for messing around with custom drivers. Also, the 9400GT has a better graphics processor and more memory than the Fx5500, so it was time to upgrade anyway.

ATI 9250 PCI Video Card Problem
Well either 7 is to advanced for this little PCI video card or ATI is falling behind. I just installed 7100 build or the RC (if it really is lol) on my older P4 2.8 with this video card installed and I can not for the life of me figure out a way to get the drivers installed for this card. Right now the default ones keep my display under 1280 by 1024 that the monitor should be at and the 7 drivers off ATI's site don't work. Windows is calling it "Video Controller" and I try to update with no luck.

Choosing An NVidia Video Card For Windows 7
I upgraded my XP system ( IBM 8291-E2U) to Windows 7 yesterday, knowing the video adapter on my motherboard was not fully Windows 7 compliant. My HP w2207 monitor's optimal resolution is 1068 x 1050 @ 60 ghz. The video card I am considering is an : NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS 512MB DDR2 PCI Express Graphics Card My concern is that this may not work with my mother board which is : *Chipset*Intel i915G/GV/GL/P/PL/i910GL Can someone comment as to the viability of this card and give me a process to follow from install to operation -- i.e. how to disable VGA and when ?

NVidia Geforce 8400 Gs Video Card
When I run the Windows 7 64bit install, once the OS installed and it reboot the system and loads for the first time. I lose video once the Windows logo goes away. I am using a nVidia GeForce 8400 GS 256mg Video Card attached Insignia HD digital TV monitor. I can go into Safe Mode, and have video but in normal mode no video. I've also tried going to nVidia web site and downloading the lastest Vista 64bit drivers and even the beta Vista 64bit drivers. But, nothing seem to work. Anyone have any ideals what you try next?

Nvidia Geforce 7000M Video Card Driver
I just installed windows 7 64-bit on my Acer laptop. It has a Nvidia Geforce 7000M video card. Windows 7 only sets it up as a generic vga card. I have tried all of the drivers I have found and none of them work. I am not able to use the dvd maker or other programs because of this. Any ideas? Cheryl

Asus V9280 / Nvidia 8x AGP Video Card
Installed 32bit version on a generic Biostar MB with AMD 5600x2 and Asus V9280 8x AGP video card which worked fine in Vista and XP and was recognized on setup. There is a built in video but I have the AGP slot as first boot up choice. Win 7 sees the card as a generic VGA and won't accept the Vista 32 driver. I am using the Nvidia chipset driver for the Geforce FX5200 which is the chip on the card. Is there a better Win 7 driver for this card? I have installed this beta on four machines and this is only the second problem I have had with it.

NVidia Quadro FX 570m Video Card Issue
My video card [nVidia Quadro FX 570m (I think)] is not being recognized by Windows 7 RC. In the device manager, it says that I have a "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" rather than the name of the card. I used this card with the Windows 7 beta and it worked flawlessly. I had to manually download the correct drivers from nvidia as their automatic detector couldn't see the videocard-- when I tried to install them, again the drivers couldn't recognize the card. The drivers I downloaded were specifically made for Windows 7. I saw a few threads that suggested I run the installers in vista compatibility mode, so, even though it's pretty absurd to install windows 7 drivers on windows 7 using vista compatibility mode, I tried and lo and behold it didn't work. I then tried using the device manager to manually point to the nvidia drivers and it didn't work. I am stumped. UPDATE 7/28 3 PM: I tried another fresh install just for fun and I'm having the same problem, however this time around, I went to nvidia.com before installing any updates or drivers and it was able to detect my videocard and point me to the proper drivers. I got the same problem during installation though. "nVidia couldn't find any drivers for you hardware" or something like that. In addition to this problem, I discovered this morning that my laptop was super hot and had not properly hibernated last night, it was hung on a black screen with a flashing underscore like a command prompt. I also cannot put the computer to sleep: it is either shut down or hibernating, windows does not give me the option for sleep. edit: I'd also like to stress that I had none of these problems with the beta, this is only with the RC...

PCI Express And PCI Video Cards
I have two video cards in my system the PCI Express is a NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT and the PCI is a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200. Both drivers have loaded. The problem is only one will work. I can switch between the two drivers, but my PCI card never powers on unless I force the BIOS to power on the PCI, but then my PCI Express will not work. I had this working on the first release of Windows 7, but recently updated to the latest release and nothing will work.

Installation Frozen - Upgrade Failure
I started Windows 7 installation in Upgrade mode, and when it got to the last step (transferring files and settings), it froze. It stayed frozen for 24 hours of leaving it alone, and the mouse wouldn't move. I tried restarting the computer, but it said installation failed and restored Vista (home premium). I tried restarting installation, and the same exact thing happened again. How can I solve this problem?

Re Installation Of Win 7 After A Hard Drive Failure
I understand that to use the Win 7 upgrade disc I must run setup from within windows ( XP Pro SP3 ). In my case I will be doing a clean install on a virgin SSD drive. So I install XP and activate. Then run setup from Win 7 disc. It sees I have a legit license for XP and allows the custom installation. Once installed, I activate and I gather that my new product key takes over, and the old XP product key and license is now 'converted' to a Win 7 installation. Now what happens if I have a hard drive crash. I can re install XP, but now I will NOT be able to activate XP so I presume win 7 will install but WILL NOT activate. What do I do now ??

Failure While Setup Is In Progress' Error Message During Installation
I'm facing the same issue as well as posted by another user. Reboot loops during installation process. I created a new partition and am trying t install win 7 into it. My other os is windows vista, which is working fine. The installation continues smoothly till it reaches the Completing Installation section and then reboots. After the reboot it shows that the system was unexpectedly shut down and asks me to choose the safe mode etc. I chose start normally and the win 7 logo appears and then the system restarts and gets into a loop. Its exactly at the same place in the installation process that the system keeps rebooting. I have tried creating a new partition and installtion 4 times and in all instances reach this point and stop. As recommended in the other thread, I tried getting into safe mode only to get a message saying that Safe mode cannot be used during the installation process and the system must be restarted to complete installation. And it goes into the loop again. Unable to get to the memory dump. My system is a compaq pressario with pre installed win vista sp1 32 bit home premium, dual cpu, 256 mb dedicated video ram, 2gb ram. 500 gb hd (with 50 gb partition for win 7).Except the keyboard and mouse nothing else connected. Any help?

Does Not Play .ts Files - Vista X64 Codecs Installation Failure
I have been successfully using the Hauppague HDPVR for downloading programs from my FIOS PVR while using W7. However, the .ts files do not play the sound track; the video is fine, but there is no sound. I tried to install the Vista x64 codec files; the codec pockage did not install properly and does not show under the installed programs. Now when I play a .ts file I get a buzzing/raspy sound. When I log in under Vista x64 I find that the video and sound are OK, if out of synchronization, but after processing them through TMPGEnc the synch comes back and the files play fine. These processed files are saved in .mpg format. In other words, W7 records the files fine, but it cannot play them. 1- Is there a problem installing Vista x64 codec in W7? 2- How does one solve the problem or repair the damage done by the x64 codecs? 2- Is there a set of codec that will work to play .ts files? 3- Some .mpg files also do not play at all. I cannot tell which type of .mpg encoded files play and which ones do not. Is anyone else having this problem?

Linksys PCI Adapter Not Recognized After Installation
Did a clean install of the 32-bit vesion on a Dimension 8300 using a new partition. So now I'm able to dual boot to XP or Win 7. I have a Linksys WMP54G PCI adapter that works fine with my XP setup but Win 7 is not recognizing it. I looked around the forums and followed a couple of advices but no luck: I started the WLANAutoconfig service I removed the adapter, installed the driver, shut down, installed the adapter. After I restart the adapter setup wizard doesn't come up. When I look in Devices->Network Adapters I don't see the Linksys. I tried all I know to find the adapter but it's all failing. I do use an SSID and the security is WPA. Anything else?

Best Wireless Pci Card
So i've been trying to figure out why the new computer I've built is freezing up randomly during operation. So far I've: Flashed an updated bios version, Run Memtest86+, and have been systematically uninstalling hardware. I think i've found the though, and it's the Linksys Wireless-G PCI adapter (WMP54G). Once i removed this piece of hardware, the issue vanished. I looked online for some information and i found that the Ralink chipset Linksys uses has driver issues with 64bit windows 7 at 4gb+ ram. So, what i basically want to know is, is there a good pci wireless adapter for 64bit windows that won't suck? And no, i can't use an Ethernet cable, I split the Internet with my neighbors (apartment) and i'm the one w/o the router.

PCI USB Card Does Not Work
I've installed Windows 7 RC 64bit. I just discovered that if I plug a hard drive or pendrive into my PCI USB card, it does not show in explorer. I don't get any 'windows has found new hardware' blurbs, and nothing shows in disl management. In device manager I managed to get the pen drive to show, by doing a scan for attached hardware, but although it said that the device was functioning correctly, it still didn't show in explorer or disk management. I tried right clicking on everything with USB in it, in device manager, and updating the drivers, but in every case it says that the driver is already the best one. What else can I try? I've just pre-ordered this OS and now find it doesn't work with PCI cards? This is a major problem, as just about everything runs through USB these days, and I need those slots. Is it just that my card is too old? Will a new one work?

PCI Graphic Card - OK For Aero ?
I would like buying a graphic card with a H.264 hardware support for my Pentium 4. This card will be useful for the next version of Adobe Flash Player (10.1) too. Unfortunately, my motherboard doesn't have a PCI-E slot : only AGP 4x and PCI 2.2. It can boot with a PCI card as primary VGA and it also supports PCI 2.1 card. As Flash 10.1 is more optimized for Nvidia products and the ATI support of their AGP HD cards is very bad in Windows 7, Vista and even XP (there is no WHQL driver), I prefer buying a DirectX 10 card from Nvidia. But there is no AGP DirectX 10 Nvidia. So, I has to choose a PCI (not PCI-E) graphic card. My current graphic card is a Gigabyte GeForce 6200 AGP 8x. Windows Aero runs but, for example, "Flip 3D" is pretty slow with a lot of windows. My next graphic will probably be a EVGA/Sparkle GeForce 9400GT or Albatron 8600GT. Note : what is the best manufacturer ==> EVGA, Sparkle or Albatron ? But I wonder about Windows Aero : Isn't a PCI bus too slow for Windows Aero ? Compared to my GeForce 6200 AGP 8x (running at 4x due to my motherboard), will 3D Windows GUI (called Aero) be faster or slower with a GeForce 9400GT PCI ? What about GeForce 8600GT PCI ? I worry because PCI bus is slower than AGP bus. In short, will there be performance issues with Windows Aero ? Or not ? Could I sell my GeForce 6200 instead of leaving on my computing (with a PCI card) ?
