Norwegian Keyboard Language Missing Characters

It seems to me when I have the "Norwegian Bokmål" set as keyboard language there are several characters on my keyboard which does not longer match their corresponding keys. For instance; @
So for me to be able to type that char, there are other chars as well, i have to change to the English US language for instance.

And then if I need to type Norwegian characters like æøå i have to switch back to the norwegian keyboard language. It's no big deal to use the hotkeys to switch, it's just getting annyoing since this was never an issue with earlier versions of windows.

I also tried to onscreen keyboard with the norwegian keyboard layout, the @ is simply missing on the onscreen keyboard.

To be honest I can't remember this being an issue when I first had installed windows 7. Not sure if this issue started after installing the English language pack.

Anyone have a clue on how to resolve this?

Unable To Switch Language With Alt+shift Keyboard Shortcut
My problem is very simple: the alt+shift shortcut that usually changes between input languages is not working.  In the general tab of Text Services and Input Languages, I have one language, English(Canada) with two keyboard layouts (US and Canadian French).

In the Advanced Key Settings tab, it says that the Action: Between input languages is associated with Key sequence: Left Alt + Shift. This has always worked well in XP and Vista, but seems to be broken in windows 7. Thanks for your help. By the way, all other shortcuts (Alt+Tab, Ctrl+Alt+Del, etc.) work well, so my keyboard is NOT the issue.

Keyboard Missing Keystrokes
At first I thought it was me, but after experimentation, I now am noticing that it seems to be Windows.

As I type, keystrokes get missed.  I'm using an older HP L2000 (AMD Turion processor) with a Microsoft Wireless Laser Keyboard 6000 V2.0 - however, it seems to happen regardless if I'm using the USB keyboard or the keyboard built into the laptop.

I have tried the beta Intellitype keyboard driver / software and that did not help.

Also, it appears to be intermittent as as I type this post, it seems to be behaving.  I also have to wonder if this has to do with how many processes are running and maybe it happens more when the CPU is more busy.

PS: I'm using Windos 7 RC Build 7100 - 32 Bit.  (See!!! Look at "Windos" earlier -- it missed the "w."  Interesting, that happened after I minimized everything to see the "windows information" -- the fan fired up on the laptop so I know that the cpu was busy.

Keyboard Shortcuts Missing / Problems
Two separate but related things.

1. I've noticed when I right-click an icon in the taskbar, the "normal" old Move, Size, and Maximize/Restore options are no longer there. One example of this is when a command prompt is open.

2. When an icon in the taskbar has a Jump List (ex. IE), some of the things in the Jump List can interfere with the keyboard shortcuts I've been using for many years. For example, if something in the "Frequent" section begins with the letter "C" (ex. "Create Thread"), I can't just right-click the icon and press C to close it (because it doesn't know if I want to "Close window" or open "Create Thread").

I tend to right-click something and press X/R/C/M to maximize/restore/close/move windows quite often. Would it be possible to assume if an icon is right-clicked then one of these letters is pressed, it does the associated action?

This has also came in very handy when things appear off-screen because I can right-click the icon in the taskbar and go to Move to get the title bar on the screen. I really wouldn't even care if these options showed up on screen as long as I could right-click and type X/R/C/M and get the same result.

Intellitype 7.0 Natural MultiMedia Keyboard 1.0A - Missing Key
I have a MS Natural MultiMedia Keyboard 1.0A and have installed the latest version of the intellitype software. I have selected 'Natural MultiMedia Keyboard' as my keyboard type.

There appears to be a key missing. I can find no entry for the sleep key. So when the computer goes to sleep I cannot wake it. Can I set up another key to do this, and if so how?

Non-unicode Characters
I successfully installed Windows 7 RC 7100 as a second OS in addition to XP Pro. I never had Vista, so this system is totally new to me. My questions:

- I have a problem with a correct codepage for non-unicode characters in russian language. In XP there was a special setting that allowed to select the proper language to show non-unicode characters under Regional settings. Will russian LIP or MUI solve this ? BTW, whats the difference between them? If I prefer to have english menus, what do I need to get?

- I installed Windows 7 to the separate drive. During installation I had some known problems with my bad memory sticks and had a BSOD. I changed them and Windows 7 was installed successfully. Now I have to change boot sequence in BIOS to switch between XP and Windows 7. Is it a way to edit boot.ini on XP to include Windows 7?

Strange Characters In The System Drivers Description
my problem doesn't seem to be a very critical issue, at least I think so, but it's nevertheless a bit strange and I thought I'd better check if there is anything I could do about it. Somehow the description in the system drivers is shown a bit weird, but a picture surely explains things better than I do:

 http://img253.imageshack.us/my.php?image=aufzeichnenn.jpg

Not all entries are shown this way, but I just made a screen shot of the ones affected. As you can see, the text is still more or less readable, but seems to be a bit "distorted".

Either my computer has a strange sense of humor or there is some character encoding problem (for whatever reason or cause). I don't know if this is a known issue, but I didn't find a lot by searching the web, so I thought I should ask here.

If anyone has an idea I would be happy to hear about it.

Alt Codes / Keystrokes For Diacritical Characters Changed
In all my previous Windows installations (EN-US or otherwise) I have always been able to enter common diacritical characters with an Alt-<numeric keypad> combination. Such as Alt-130 for é.

Many of us here in Europe have memorized these numeric combinations from the old days of Dos and Word Perfect, and we rely on them heavily. They were the most reliable way to enter diacritical characters at any keyboard for any installation of any Windows version.

Max No Of Characters In A Message Box Line Is Less In Win 7
I have noticed in Windows7, the maximum no. of characters which could be displayed in a message box line is 85 characters where in XP it was 131 characters.

Following is a summary when compared this with OSes,
OS - Max. no. of characters per message box line.
XP - 131
Vista, Windows 7 - 85
Windows 2008 Server x32 and x64 - 81

Following is a code in VB to run in Vista simulate the problem which spans into 3 lines, where it was expected in 2 lines. MsgBox ("**Maximum number of characters per message box line in Windows Vista is 85 characters.**"+CHR(13)+CHR(10)+"Expected 2nd line")

How could this display message alignment problem be fixed?

Is there a setting Vista and higher which preserves the message box functionality of XP?

Period Keyboard Lockups / Toshiba Satellite M40 Keyboard
Toshiba PSM30 Satellite Laptop
1.25Gb Ram
Centrino 1.5Ghz

when using windows 7 on this laptop periodically the keyboard input will freeze - it will freeze for up to two seconds after which the keypresses will "catch up".

Ive hunted around for a solution to this and only managed to find a issue for some installs upgrading form winxp...

The sugestion here http://www.watchingthenet.com/windows-vista-tip-how-to-fix-slow-keyboard-response-after-upgrade-from-windows-xp.html

suggests adding a new regrsitry key which I have done and it has made ZERO difference (its not made it any worse either)

At the moment this is making this laptop pretty unusable in that it locks out keyboard input about once every 30 seconds....

Note that this lockout is not tied to any particular program (it even happens in notepad with no other programs running).

Ive preorded win7 for this laptop prior to installing the RC, and I am now starting to worry i may not be able to use it on this laptop.

if i keep the cpu gadet running "always on top" I can see that when the keyboard input is getting buffered its not the case that the CPU is maxed out at 100% in face i can see it happening when the cpu is running at less than 20 percent.

Dunno if this is a driver issue or an issue with my particular hardware setup. This is not the newest laptop but its not the oldest either, and apart from this win7 runs at an ok rate. Memory utilisation is around 45%.

Very occasionally when typing it seems that windows will issue an alert sound when the keyboard locks out but its not every time and there is no alert message associated with the sound - all in all its hugely frustrating.

Keyboard Input Causes Audio Skipping, No Keyboard Repeat
I'm having a strange issue with Windows 7, involving keyboard input and audio playback. I find that when I'm typing something (like this message, or anything else) and listening to music through any media player, the audio output skips as I type. There doesn't seem to be a real pattern to it, but it is definitely noticeable skipping only when I'm typing.

I also noticed that if I try to use a repeating key function, such as holding down the backspace key, the audio output stops completely, and the key does not repeat; the cursor just hangs until I let go of the key, at which point the music starts playing again too. Is anyone else having this issue?

Beside that Win7 seems quiet nice.

Difference Between Language
Does anybody here was able to see the difference between a Windows 7 installation disk in another language than English and a Windows 7 installed in English + a language pack (MUI)?

Personally, I don't see any. But I think my MUI (French) is still incomplete because there is some places in Windows which are still in English.

Note: The question is valid for any language.

Run Different Language Programs
How do i keep the OS in English, but run another program as a different language

There should be an option to have a program always run as a set language

I would like to be able to run an English, Japanese and Korean program side by side, not reset the computer just to run one app.

I Know about applocal, but some times it does not cut it and the program fails to run properly.

Windows should let me run a program from any country, not just one at a time.
