Non Standard Keyboard Layouts / Apple Mac Keyboard
I am using a Mac keyboard on my PC. In Win7 it is not possible to setup the correct AppleMay keyboard layout.
Only the standard English layouts work. In all Linux version this has been working so far -- however why not in Win7?
Beside that Win7 seems quiet nice.

Different Keyboard Layouts
I have an us-notebook (-keyboard-layout: qwerty) but I am german and I attached a 'german' usb-desktop (-layout: qwertz...) The device-manager shows me the phsical (different of course!) IDs of both keyboards. Is there a possibility to assign theses physical keyboard/IDs their specific layout so that there is no need to switch to either this or that layout? Would cause much less errors, saved time, higher satisfactiion using Win7 - no?

Keyboard Layouts Changed After System Recovery
I have very weird problem. I have prepared a Recovery Solution as explained in Microsoft's Whitepaper - Creating a Windows 7 Factory Image and Hard Disk Recovery Solution. I installed Windows 7 Professional x86 FR using an autounattend file and set the system to boot in Audit mode. It is French localized version. The System local settings suppose to be for Canada and keyboard layouts for French(Canada). In my Autounattend.xml file I have set fr-CA as SystemLocale, UILanguageFallback, UserLocal in windowsPE configuration pass and 0c0c:00001009;0c0c:00000c0c;0c0c:00011009 in InputLocale. As a result I have French(Canada), French(Legacy) and Canadian Multilingual Standard keyboard layouts installed. I am using OOBE.xml file to apply settings when the system boots in OOBE mode.

Period Keyboard Lockups / Toshiba Satellite M40 Keyboard
Toshiba PSM30 Satellite Laptop 1.25Gb Ram Centrino 1.5Ghz when using windows 7 on this laptop periodically the keyboard input will freeze - it will freeze for up to two seconds after which the keypresses will "catch up". Ive hunted around for a solution to this and only managed to find a issue for some installs upgrading form winxp... The sugestion here http://www.watchingthenet.com/windows-vista-tip-how-to-fix-slow-keyboard-response-after-upgrade-from-windows-xp.html suggests adding a new regrsitry key which I have done and it has made ZERO difference (its not made it any worse either) At the moment this is making this laptop pretty unusable in that it locks out keyboard input about once every 30 seconds.... Note that this lockout is not tied to any particular program (it even happens in notepad with no other programs running). Ive preorded win7 for this laptop prior to installing the RC, and I am now starting to worry i may not be able to use it on this laptop. if i keep the cpu gadet running "always on top" I can see that when the keyboard input is getting buffered its not the case that the CPU is maxed out at 100% in face i can see it happening when the cpu is running at less than 20 percent. Dunno if this is a driver issue or an issue with my particular hardware setup. This is not the newest laptop but its not the oldest either, and apart from this win7 runs at an ok rate. Memory utilisation is around 45%. Very occasionally when typing it seems that windows will issue an alert sound when the keyboard locks out but its not every time and there is no alert message associated with the sound - all in all its hugely frustrating.

Keyboard Input Causes Audio Skipping, No Keyboard Repeat
I'm having a strange issue with Windows 7, involving keyboard input and audio playback. I find that when I'm typing something (like this message, or anything else) and listening to music through any media player, the audio output skips as I type. There doesn't seem to be a real pattern to it, but it is definitely noticeable skipping only when I'm typing. I also noticed that if I try to use a repeating key function, such as holding down the backspace key, the audio output stops completely, and the key does not repeat; the cursor just hangs until I let go of the key, at which point the music starts playing again too. Is anyone else having this issue?

Keyboard Filter
I just got my Windows 7 upgrade kit in the mail today. When I got to the Compatibility Report, it told me this: "These devices might not work properly after the upgrade. Before upgrading, we recommend updating the drivers for these devices. Cancel the upgrade, open Control Panel and search for "update device drivers", or go to the device manufacturer's website to search for updated drivers." Keyboard Filter And "These programs might not work properly after the upgrade. We recommend uninstalling these programs before upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, open Control Panel, and search for "uninstall a program". (Note: Programs marked as * can be safely reinstalled after the upgrade.)" HP MediaSmart Music/Photo/Video * iTunes (Please deauthorize computer prior to upgrade) Agatha Christie - Death on the Nile * Bejeweled 2 Deluxe * Chuzzle Deluxe * Slingo Deluxe * Wedding Dash * Zuma Deluxe * I'm afraid to continue the upgrade because I don't know what's going to happen or how it's going to affect the programs and devices. Should I just go ahead and uninstall everything listed in the second message? And how do I update the driver for the Keyboard Filter? I don't really know what I'm doing.

Using Notes With Keyboard
I have been wondering about this one since the first beta. In your default docs link is (well if your running it in "display as menu") a notes sub dir. There are a lot of cool little apps here. Journal , reminder,to do etc. I'm sure you all know this. What I have never been able to find is a way to switch these out of pen mode. Don't have touchpad, do not plan on getting one. Hate them. However these are utilitys I would like to utilize. Is this jus t for pen/touch screens? Is their @ least a reg hack?

Keyboard Shortcuts
I thought this list of keyboard shortcuts from "The Lazy Admin" might be useful I didn't know half of these. WIN + T – With the new taskbar and the way apps dock there, this shortcut will open the preview of each of the apps running in the taskbar. No need to hover the mouse over the taskbar any more! Ctrl + Shift – This shortcut will launch any application that is docked on your taskbar with elevated privileges. WIN + Space – This shortcut will make all windows transparent and allow you to see the desktop. Release it and return back to the current window. WIN + P – Need to connect to a projector or external monitor on your notebook? This shortcut will do the trick! You can also use WIN + X to open the Mobility Center and do it from there too. WIN + Home – Got a cluttered desktop? This shortcut will minimize all the windows on the desktop with the exception of the active one. WIN + Arrows – There are a load of shortcuts that utilize the arrows. WIN + Right Arrow will dock the windows to the right while WIN + Left Arrow will dock it to the left. WIN + Up Arrow will maximize a window while WIN + Down Arrow will minimize it. WIN + Shift + Arrow – In conjunction with #6 once you have the windows docked you can move them to other monitors in a multi monitor display. WIN + Shift + Right Arrow will move it to the right. I think you can figure out what the Left Arrow does! WIN + +/- - OK I know I said seven but this one is cool too. WIN + + will zoom in and WIN + - zooms out!

Keyboard Focus
Prevent any application from stealing keyboard focus on it's own without being user commanded, at least as an option mode, that only the user with a pointer or using keyboard navigation (Tab and Tab combinations or Cursors Keys) would be able to change de keyboard focus.     This is one of the all time annoyances of any windows based system and still present in Vista and Windows 7, and it gets worst as you use more a bigger screens and use more applications at once.     I loose count of how many times this happens daily, when ever some application is launched or just finished something that requires user attention (yes some times just so you press an OK on a message box, no options!) or intervention, I'm a programmer and I understand that this is "also" an issue on the applications side but it should be easily controlled at the OS level. This problem has even caused unnecessary problems as I've responded to message boxes as OK, Cancel or other option, and didn't even had time to read what it was asked, as I was writing some text and the message box appears, steals the keyboard focus and as I press SPACE the default action is taken, and usually I lost some text I was typing as the input went to a deferent window and answered something I didn't expect.     As applications start to be more asynchronous and less linear on the code part they should regard the user as some one that's never been linear in doing anything specially for long periods of time, and that because we to take more time to do and think about deferent things we get extremely asynchronous.     There's supposedly a registry key that should fix this but it doesn't (HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktopForegroundLockTimeout).

A Keyboard Shortcut
I am curious to know if there is a keyboard shortcut like ALT + TAB that cycles through the windows of the active application only, similar to what Mac has with COMMAND + ` . Windows 7 is looking pretty good, since Apple decided my dual 2.0Ghz G5 is too old to run Snow Leopard I'm 99% sure I'm switching to a Win7 machine early next year!. Anyway, that was unrelated, just had to rant about that.

Keyboard Error
Every so often, my keyboard will stop working correctly. I will type something, but the letter I type isn't displayed. For example, if I type an "a" it will display any other letter. But there is an order to it, if I type a letter and it displays a "q", then regardless of what key I hit next, it will display "w", then "e", then "r"...you get the idea....it does this for just about every (if not every) key on the keyboard. To fix this, I have to reboot the computer. Funny thing is, internet explorer is unaffected. If I type in Microsoft Word, the wrong characters are displayed, in IE, keyboard functions perfectly. I can switch back and forth between word and IE and the problem persists. I have even tried switching keyboards...although both are logitech keyboards, so similar or even the same driver may be involved. First had the G15 gaming keyboard, then the logitech ex100 cordless keyboard/mouse.

Keyboard Cut Out
So I just installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on my Sony Vaio VGN-FZ240E Laptop. Everything installed okay and worked just fine until I restarted it for the first time to update my touchpad drivers. After I restarted, my keyboard would not function and Sony provides no drivers for it on their website. Sony also makes it clear that they do not support a Windows 7 upgrade on my model(which is slightly ridiculous, but whatever...). It's an Intel Core 2 duo, so I know it's 64-bit capable and everything WAS working the first time I installed it. I have no clue what to do, but my laptop keyboard is slightly useless, which poses a big problem, lol. If there is anyone out there with advice, I would greatly appreciate it!

Keyboard Issues
I installed Windows 7 last week. Ever since I am having issues of the calendar/clock window opening, the page randomly scrolling down, a window minimizing or the cursor disappearing whenever I am typing. It happens when I am typing in a search on the internet, typing in my blog, writing an email, commenting on FB or IMing a friend. It has happened several times during typing this post. It is really annoying me. It is obviously some kind of short cut issue but I am not typing any of the known shortcuts while I am trying to do anything I mentioned above. The one shortcut I have identified as causing problems is the space bar. Pressing the space bar caused my browser (or Word doc or whatever) scroll to the bottom. I really just want to put a space in NOT scroll. Is anyone else having this problem? How can I fix it. I can barely type a sentence without something happening that shouldn't.
