Network Printer - HP LaserJet 4100 Printer Driver Issue

I have successfully installed a HP network printer on two W7 64 bit clients that I have running in a test environment.

There is one other HP network printer that is giving me problems.

It is a Laserjet 4100 N model.

I got the 64 bit Vista universal driver off the HP website.

Add a Printer
Network Printer
Select HP4100 from the list of available printers.
.. Looking for Driver   " No Driver Found"
Browse to folder where drivers were extracted to.
OK
then error "Windows cannot locate a suitable driver"

Any suggestions?

I used the same procedure for another laserjet printer from HP. That particular driver was device specific and it worked like a charm.

Printer Driver For HP Laserjet 1012 And HP Color Laserjet 1600
Tried Vista installs from latest downloads. DID NOT WORK! Both drivers failed. I believe that I tried the Devices & Printers > Add a Printer option and selected the .INF of the printer and that didn't work either.

Any ideas? I sure hope HP (or Microsoft) is updating their drivers for V7.

HP 4100 Printer
I have just installed the Windows 7 RC on my old pentium computer 2.6GHz 2.5GB RAM. It went without a hitch I might add.

I have a HP4100DTN laser printer attached to the parallel port.

The windows 7 RC picked up the driver for it no problem.

I have noticed one thing though, when configuring the printer for Double Sided printing and the number of paper trays etc that

the smallest amount of RAM that the Windows 7 RC driver for this printer can be set to is 96MB RAM

These printers came with a minimum of 16MB all the way to to 256MB RAM (Maybe More)

My printer has 64MB RAM installed but this cannot be selected with the current Windows 7 RC driver.

HP LaserJet 4L Printer Driver
I am missing the HP LaserJet 4L printer driver - it was included in Vista, but not in W7.
According to HP it should be downloadable by Windows Update, but I can not find it.

Of cause I have no parallelport in my machine, the printer is attached with a USB->Centronics cable to a network box, so I need to download the driver, W7 can not autodetect it (since the printer is not directly connected to the PC).

Any ideas ?

HP Laserjet 4 Printer Driver
I had trouble finding how to get my HP Laserjet 4 printer to work in Windows 7.

My research indicates it would run in Vista using built in drivers, but I didn't have or use Vista. I also tried driversguide, and HP site just says "supported"

When I used one of the available earleir drivers I always get the error message:

"W2 INVALID PERS"

OK Solved it now. Lots of drivers in a package for HP laserjets. Go to the Windows Update page and download the package; here: Microsoft Update Catalog

Laserjet 5000 Network Printer Problem
I am having difficulty installing a Laserjet 5000, printer shared by a member server within a domain, on my 64bit Windows 7 machine. I can access the print queue no problem, but not actually installing the printer. I downloaded the 64bit universal printing driver from HP and installed that way, with local port defined as \printerserverprintqueue, however, it just stayed at the installing printer Windows without completing it.

The printer will show up in the printer and device Windows even through I terminated the installing printer Windows, however, it will not print properly. I tried removing it from the printer list but again it will stay at the removing the printer windows without ever completing it. I terminated the process and restart the Windows, and the printer will disappear.

HP Laserjet P2015 Printer Driver Issue
My printer is an HP laserjet P2015. In Vista, I had an HP postscript plugnplay driver that worked great, but HP provided Microsoft with the wrong Windows 7 driver for this printer. The driver in W7 is a PCL6 Universal driver, and though it works, it doesn't work well.

When I clean installed W7, W7 installed my printer and the universal driver that came with W7. I tried to "Add a printer" so I could try my old vista driver, but W7 wants to automatically add that universal driver.

Is there a way to "Add a printer" with my own choice of drivers?

Printer Driver For Lexmark 5400 Series Printer
Windows 7 recognizes the printer but has a yellow triangle exclamation point. it will not print, but I cannot find any printer driver for Windows 7. any ideas?

Answer:-

Are yere any more details on what is the matter with the printer in device manager?

You should be able to download the Windows Vista drivers for that printer from here, which should be compatible with Windows 7:

HP Laserjet 3015 Printer
I've got 64bit Win7 beta installed on my laptop and want to connect to a Laserjet 3015 multifunction laser printer over the network. I'm not looking for scanning/fax functionality, just basic printing support.

The printer is connected to a desktop computer via USB and setup as a shared printer from that computer.

I can connect to the host computer and connect to the shared Laserjet 3015 but after searching Windows Update (which takes a long time) it never finds an appropriate driver.

On HP's support site I found several drivers for the printer for 64bit vista. These are postscript, PCL5 or PCL6 universal drivers. I can manually install one of these drivers and attempt to connect it to the printer, but every attempt to point it to the shared UNC path leads to an error saying it can't communicate with the printer to get status information.

I've ensured I've already connected to shared drives on the host computer so that my credentials are already entered and saved but this doesn't help.

Is there any way to get printing support for this printer?

HP Laserjet 1022 Printer
HP have updated their drivers for Windows 7 (32 & 64bit). I run the desktop with Windows 7 64 bit with the 1022 connected. The laptop runs Windows 7 32 bit.

Everything prints fine from the Desktop which the 1022 is connected to via USB. The laptop can see the 1022 but printing a test page from the laptop simply doesn't happen. You can see the test file in the 1022 print queue but that's it so obviously it's getting across the wi-fi network. Both are members of the homegroup with everything enabled.

Rebooting the Desktop back into Win XP (32bit) and everything prints just fine to the printer from the laptop.

HP Printer LaserJet 2100
I am connecting a laptop running Windows 7 64bits to a HP printer LaserJet 2100 on a Win NT server through work-group network. Here are my problems.

1) Problem when connecting Wireless to the network

--All other computers (running XP & 98s) are connected through hub to router to the server.

--This laptop is the only one connecting wirelessly right now.

--Laptop can not see any computers in the same network However can connect Online.(since can't see other computers thus can't connect to printers.)

Q: how can I make them see/connect to each other?

2) Problem when connecting via LAN to the network

--Laptop now can see all the computers in the network and can access the files

--However when trying to ADD Printer from network still unsuccessful. Here is what I did:

Device & Settings --> ADD Printer --> ADD a network printer --> (found the printer on network and clicked on NEXT) >> Driver Not Found

Then I tried to locate the driver manually to the driver downloaded from HP's site which updated recently in Dec. Here is the link still can not find the right .INF file to install.

It seems the Laptop doesn't know what exact .INF file it is looking for and thus failed to install.

Q: How to Connecting Windows 7 to HP LaserJet 2100 on Win NT ?

Any reply/answers to both Scenarios would be greatly appreciated. (this issue troubled me for a while now would really like to have some solution)..

HP Laserjet 4L Printer Issue
I have a rather weird problem. Sometimes - happened three times so far, I think - my printer (which is connected via USB <-> LPT-Adapter) starts printing out of a sudden an prints the following:

%-12345X@PJL
@PJL USTATUS TIMED 30

I understand, that this is some printer job language. But then again: Why is it printing these lines on paper?

HP LaserJet 4M Printer Printing Issue
I go to the "add Printer" wizard on the Device Stage, and HP LaserJet 4M does appear on the Printer List (in local printers), but the printer still fails to function...at all...   The printer is quite old and admittedly it is time to get a newer one, but other people may not have the resources to fix the problem this way. Are there any solutions available to get a LaserJet 4M working?

It was working fine in Vista...but then again nothing else did...go Windows 7

Hp Laserjet 1012 Printer Problem
I have Googled and read all the various forums and guides, I DID successfully setup the printer as a local printer as a first step, I have both the Win 7 laptop and other XP computers all on MSHome group, have downloaded the latest drivers, and still can't communicate with the printer at http://192.168.2.1:1631/printers/My_Printer. Have tried to setup using a TCP/IP address and even as a new TCP/IP port, all to no avail.

XP computers all show up in the network, file sharing is great, can even see and share with the mac, there's no problem with the XP computers with printing, and Win 7 can see the printer if it is setup as a local printer on one of the XP computers.

The laptop is a Dell Latitude 810 running Win 7 RC with latest updates, router is a U.S. Robotics Wireless MAX g Router (USR5461), the printer driver that worked locally on Win 7 laptop is listed as hp LaserJet 1012 HB. This would be the fourth grand effort in three weeks to get printing back to the Win 7 computer. - ARRGGHH! What am I missing?

Edit in response to blond's reply: The printer troubleshoot program comes up with the not too helpful "Windows could not fix the problem. Please contact your network administrator." and under the Problems Found dialog box, it lists "Printer hp LaserJet 1012 HB cannot be contacted over the network".
