Multiple Display Swapping Support
On one of our workstations we were able to successfully install Windows 7, it is excellent, however there is a feature missing from the Display properties that was available in Vista.
We need the ability to swap monitors assignments. Vista had an option to select which monitor was on the left, and which monitor was on the right.
We have a 24 inch HP monitor we use as the main monitor on the right, and a 19inch Samsung monitor we use as a secondary on the left.
While Win 7 does give the ability to choose which is the primary, it does not allow us to select which monitor is on the right or left of the other.
Unfortunately Win 7 has detected the HP as the left monitor. With the desktop setup it's not a matter of just switching the physical placement of the monitors. We need the ability to select position as it was offered in our previous setup.
Until we find a way to swap them, we will continue of course to use the RC, but hope this will be addressed in one of the service update releases before Win7 goes RTM.
If anyone has seen a solution to this issue outside of 3rd party software such as ultramon, we would be interested in hearing from you.

Multiple Display With Remote Apps
I just upgraded a client environment from XP/Vista to Windows 7. This environment also has a windows 2008 standard server that runs remote apps. Each user has a multiple display set up. Pre windows 7 upgrade all users remote apps spanned over the multiple displays just as expected. Post windows 7 upgrade, all works prefectly except one user ( just happens to be the owner too.) RDP session can span across the multiple monitors but if i launch an remote app from the windows installer version, it will not span, it stays witin the main monitor. The userser environment is as follows: windows 7 - 3 21 inch monitors with resolutions set at 1280 x 1024. All other spanning works great except the remote apps from the windows installer.

No Multiple Display After Installing Win 7
I have a ACER Aspire 2920Z Laptop which has the graphics card - Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset. I recently performed fresh install of Windows 7 on this Laptop. The OS automatically downloaded and installed all the drivers. However after installation, now I am unable to connect to my TV using S-video. When i connect the s-video, nothing happens. The application does not even detect the connection. On launching the Intel Graphics application - under Display Devices, it shows the Operating Mode as Single Display. Please refer the attachment. Before upgrading to Windows 7, it used to show Multiple displays. Have also attached the Dxdaig information. Can somebody help with getting the S-video display to work.

Multiple Display Setup Dialog
The language used to describe the Multiple Display setup is very hard to follow, and there does not appear to be an easy way to switch display "1" and "2". For example, I am using a monitor and cloning the display (via S-video) to my TV. When I detect the TV, it finds it - but makes it display 1, even though it's off, and identifies my monitor as display 2. That's a minor inconvenience, trying to understand the language in the drop-down is just confusing! A screenshot is attached...I am referring to the text labeled "Multiple Displays": http://i495.photobucket.com/albums/rr318/CRJeepin/Capture1.png

Black Screen When Using Multiple Display Adapters
2 graphics cards Nvidia GeForce 9600 (Primary) and Nvidia GeForce 6200, each with 2Â monitors connected.Windows 7 x64I have another black screen issue. It only occurs when I enable my second graphics card, if I do enable the 6200 all four displays go completely black but I still have the white mouse pointer functioning. The two monitors on the 9600 are fine if I disable the 6200 in Device Manager. I'm using latest drivers (9107) from Nvidia. After the initial Windows 7 install I did have all 4 displays working but they would keep freezing up for about 30 seconds, hence the reason I tried the latest drivers. They worked fine under Vista x64.I've found loads of threads on this but had no joy, most seem to suggest unplugging the addidtional monitors, sorry but that's not actually a solution! Some suggest a BIOS upgrade but it's a Medion PC and there are no upgrades for my model.Any help would be great as so far I'm finding Windows 7 much faster than Vista and am liking it. Update: I've removed and reinstalled the Nvidia drivers and now the symptons are like they were with the Microsoft supplied ones. I can get all 4 dislpays on, but the system then takes ages to logon and the display randomly freezes up (it still appears to be caching the mouse clicks and catches up when it unfreezes). Ctrl-All-Del and logging off and back on temporarily fixes this. The black screen comes back if I attempt to change anything under Display Properties or Nvidia Control Panel.

Unable To Save Display Settings And Multiple Monitors
Have Windows 7 RTM installed on my laptop and was working great with extending to my monitor. I took my laptop home and hooked it up to my tv and it was fine. Now when I bring it back to work I cannot get the monitor to work. Only the display on the laptop is working. Windows can detect the monitor, but I try to enable the monitor and when I select Apply I get an error message "Unable to save display settings". I am a local administrator on the laptop. How can I extend to my monitor!

Support For Multiple Mice
I have a Dell Latitude with a docking station. When the computer is docked, I use it with an external Kensington trackball, but when I'm on the road, I use the built-in touchpad. Since the pointer speed settings for the trackpad are way too fast for the trackball, I am constantly readjusting the mouse settings in control panel. Kensington does not offer Vista drivers. Any way to have different settings for different mice?

Windows Virtualization Needs To Support Multiple CPU Cores
My office computer has 4 cores and my laptop has 2 and will likely be upgraded to a 4 core within the next 6 months. Windows Virtual PC does not appear to support more than a single core. VMWare and other virtualization software support multiple cores. Windows Virtualization needs to support multiple cores to remain relevent and meet customer expectations. My VM is doggishly slow and my host OS has lots of juice left.

Terminal Services Windows Won't Support A Second Display
Using build 7000, I've had the same result using the Citrix Web Interface to access a Server 2003 and the TS Web Access interface to access a Server 2008 box (no Citrix). In both scenarios, the session windows will only operate in the primary display. They will not maximize to fill both displays and they cannot be dragged between displays (the edge disappears as though the app were being pulled off-screen). I have an NVIDIA Quadro NVS 135M adapter, and have had the same results with driver prerelease - WDDM 1.1 and the one before that. If it's relevant, I'm using a Dell Latitude D630 with 4 GB RAM.On XP and Vista I didn't have this problem.I've tried a variety of settings in the nView Desktop Manager - including turning it off; no change. This is not a serious problem, but it would be nice to run my apps in my secondary display, which is much larger than the notebook's.

Intel 82945G Drivers / Support For Independent Dual Display
I can not seem to find a way to engage the Intel 82945G chipset in dual independent display mode, which worked natively in Vista. I have tried installing the Windows 7 Beta: As a fresh 32bit installation As a fresh 64bit installation, and As an upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit version. where the display was fully functioning in dual mode. It seems none of the publicly available drivers for Intel 82945G integrated graphics chip that are Windows 7 compatible support the independent multi monitor mode. this includes: The Windows 7 Beta drivers supplied natively by the Microsoft install, The latest downloadable drivers from Intel: v7.14.10.1504), This is quite disappointing, as the native drivers used by Windows Vista, support dual independent displays, SEAMLESSLY. It appears as if this shortcoming has to do with WDDM 1.0 support vs. WDDM 1.1, although it isn't entirely clear to me if this is the case. SDVO (Serial Digital Video Out) or ADD2 Dual-Display Expansion Card in the PCI-Express slot 1600x1200 capable Viewsonic P95f+ CRT using 15pin VGA Cable 1680x1050 LCD widescreen using DVI Cable Please let me know if drivers (even beta or non-public versions) are available that support independent dual display mode, or if there is some way to enable the previous generation Vista drivers to manage the graphics shics chipset such that it supports independent dual displays.

Swapping A Hard Drive
I am writing this on a new build PC with Win 7 RC installed. The problem benig I installed a small spare HD, I have got so involved in learning Win 7 and liking what I'm seeing that I got it set up great but the HD is not the one I want to use. My other internal HD of an other PC is much larger and the one I wish to use. I don't know how/the procedure in transferring my settings files, folders from the small to the larger HD. I have every single folder, file, emails and so on backed up on an external HD, so once larger internal HD is up and running I could restore/transfer my files/folders/e-mails/favorites that way but what about settings. The larger HD as yet does not have Win 7 RC installed and this will have to be done first. I do not wish to partion the larger HD yet. There are possible several effective ways to transfer everything, settings and so on from the small to the large but need the procedure explained, simple works best with me. Or would it simply be best to install Win 7 on big HD and then transfer/restore, files, folders and so from the external back up HD.

VPN Connection - Transferring / Swapping Files
A strange bug, but, every time I connect to my brothers computer in Scotland using a VPN connection [I live in The Netherlands] I am getting a blue screen of death [BSOD] which is preceeded by a crash of explorer.exe when transferring files from the local server. I've tried transferring several times now and every time the entire system crashes, first explorer.exe crashes, reinstalls itself automatically and is followed by a BSOD after the transfer has been active for +/- 5 minutes. To ensure its not being caused by any other programme I've been running the VPN connection with no other programmes open or running. In Vista Home Premium I never experienced this problem when transferring/ swapping files from the local server over the VPN network set up on my system. When the VPN connection is disconnected Windows 7 runs fine, no problems in fact. This problem is making networking via VPN impossible for me in Windows 7. Has anyone else experienced this problem when transferring files via a VPN in Windows 7 beta and is there a fix?  I have Windows 7 beta, build 7000, 64 bit installed.

Win 7 OEM Hard Drive Swapping
Well as everyone using Windows RC knows, it'll be shutting down every hour or so starting in a week or so. I've been looking at two different options. First option was to use Ubuntu 9.1.0 though I have no experience with it. Thing is I game a little and wanted to run games also. I looked into using Wine yet its not always guaranteed. Second option was to do a clean install of Windows 7 using an OEM copy for far less than retail. Also, thing is..I might be receiving a new computer from school and was wondering how it would work out if I installed the Windows 7 OEM to this hard drive then swapped it out to the new computer. I heard you cannot change anything once the OEM is installed without calling Microsoft. Would it be possible to swap out the hard drive and put it into my new machine?

Whats The Procedure For Swapping Gfx Cards ?
I'm getting an eVGA e-GeForce GTX 285 soon, and I currently have a BFG GeForce 8800 GTX in my system. I usually uninstall the graphics driver I have installed, and then swap the card and install it's new driver. Is there any other "better" way, or is that pretty much the standard procedure? Is a registry sweep recommended to get rid of any remaining driver components? Do you recommend any programs to do this?

Multiple Resolutions On Multiple Displays

My graphics card is older, a Nvidia Quadro FX 1700, but it is perfectly capable of driving both displays at the same time. It's a minor annoyance, but I'd like to get it working if it's possible.

Swapping Data Between Vista Ultimate 64 Hard Drive To Win 7 64 Hard Drive
I'm looking for a way to retain my video collection that doesn't involve moving all the files to an external drive and back again. I currently am formatting a new WD Caviar Black drive and am looking to install Windows 7 to this drive because it is faster than my current WD Caviar Blue drive. My blue drive has vista ultimate 64 bit installed is there anyway to move my data between the drives so I can reformat my primary drive (blue) and turn it into a storage disk (then make it a secondary) and use my new drive as the boot drive for windows 7? I have the MSDN release for Windows 7 Professional from my college that I burned to a bootable DVD.

Multiple Installations
I'm sorry if this has been answered before but I can't find it. Anyway, my question is this: I have a pc running XP Pro and a laptop running Vista Home Premium (wirelessly connected). I want to buy Windows 7 and install it on both pc and laptop. I am on benefits and am saving up hard to buy it. Now someone has told me that I would need to buy 2 versions of the same product. Is this correct? Surely I can install it on both systems with the one product. After all I will have bought it legally and it is being used for my own means in my own home. This info has now upset me. I plan to upgrade my pc when I can afford it, but this would also mean that if I ever needed a fresh install I wouldn't be able to do it from my own bought product.

Multiple XP , Then Win 7
Is there an easier way to accomplish this on my laptop? I took an XP image from the first primary partition and copied it to the 2nd partition. When I rebooted to the second partition I thought wow this is just great!. My only problem is when I found out that the working OS saw the booted 2nd partition as the next drive letter and not C drive. Argggg... How do I get around this? It's easy on my desktop PC because it has two drives and I keep XP on the 1st partition on both drives. But this seems to be a problem on the 1 drive laptop. People recommend on the internet to use EASYBCD but will this really solve this problem? What is the easiest solution? I am open to entering command line arguments. Could manually switching the "active" partition solve this problem using Gparted? Once I get this solved I would then like to install Windows 7 and also protect the first two versions of XP. I already have my XP apps set on the first partition so I hope to keep that as-is. What is the best way?

Multiple Bootmgr
Alright so I guess I have a bit of an issue. I had Vista installed on a 300GB harddrive, but I got a new harddrive and moved Vista over to that. Unfortunately I never actually reformated the 300GB hard drive so the bootmgr stayed there but was unused. With the new Vista it started a new bootmgr and is now the default bootmgr. Then I installed Windows 7 and that started a new bootmgr. But the BIOS still selects the Vista bootmgr and so I just added Windows 7 to that one. Except now I want to delete the Vista Bootmgr and the 300GB unused bootmgr and use the Windows 7 bootmgr. The Vista bootmgr no longer works for Windows 7 (Vista cannot correctly find the Windows 7 partition because it is set to the G: partition, but the Windows 7 windows folder is in S I know I can delete the bootmgrs on the inactive drives, except I don't want to because I have no way of booting to the Windows 7 bootmgr. (Default boots to Vista, which would be gone, and using the Windows 7 DVD to boot uses the 300GB worthless bootmgr) If I use the Windows 7 DVD to repair the startup would it create a new bootmgr in the place of the two I delete or would it find the Windows 7 bootmgr and use that? I'll be working on this for about another hour but if nothing works I'm nuking all three bootmgrs and rebuilding the bootmgr. Update: Alright I've managed to get all the bootmgrs exactly the same so that everything boots correctly, however I still want to make the computer use the bootmgr on the 55GB Windows 7 drive because it is a 10,000RPM Raptor.
