Most 32-bit Programs Won't Run In RTM
I've been using Win7 since the beta, and not once have I had this problem 'till now (and I've used builds 7000, 7100, 7229, and 7260 without issues).
But starting with build 7600.16384 (I have the RTM now (7600.16385)), I've been having trouble getting 32-bit programs to work. At first they were slow to start--now they won't start at all. Originally I could work around it by running them apps as Admin w/compatability for Vista SP2, but now even that doesn't work.
64-bit apps startup fine (Photoshop, IE8, any built-in app, etc.), but anything 32-bit will just sit in the Task Manager all day, with the memory usage never above 3-4MB, and simply fail to start. No error messages, no abrupt termination, just nothing. The only exceptions have been FL Studio 8 and Steam (but Steam games won't run), both of which run perfectly despite being 32-bit.
I can only last so long using IE and not being able to play any games.

Some Programs Won't Run/install, Explorer Slow, Ect.
It was all fine until yesterday. I copied over a game from my laptop the night before (I just installed 7 on this computer recently, was copying over stuff from my laptop) and also finished installing World of Warcraft and not long after I turned off the computer. The next day I switched it on and didn't notice anything at first but some programs wouldn't run (Winamp would have a blank space where the music list normally is). I tried installing some virtual drive programs such as magic disc and power iso which I usually use for isos I rip onto the computer (I lost some discs before so I've been doing that recently) but the magic disc programs wouldn't run properly and power iso wouldn't progress during its installation. I tried installing some anti spyware like AVG and Avast (Spyware doctor detected 300 odd tracking cookies that appeared in the past week I installed, way more than it did with my vista laptop) but they would just either not respond (and then pop up with a message saying it took a while and wouldn't respond) or just not even progress when it was installing (on the part where it begins putting down files) Explorer itself is slow and takes a while to load when on "My computer" and usually wouldn't display USB drives. Once it did but it didn't actually open it up when I clicked on it and prevented the window from responding. I have used task manager to close all these down when they wouldn't. When I tried switching off my computer it just stayed on the logging off/shutting down screen. I tried leaving it overnight, expecting it to finally switch off but it only ende up going into sleep mode (and popped up with the log in screen when I waked it up) I have switched the computer off and on a few times but its still the same. I also got the disc I used to install and tried to repair it but it wouldn't boot from the disc when I switched on the PC and when I opened it up and ran the setup file, it came up with the usual "are you sure you want to run this" dialog and didn't do anything.

All Programs Won't Display And Speech Recognition Won't Start
My speech recogntiion won't start. I don't have a system restore that far back, but it hasn't been working since 3, maybe 4 updates back and I am now just getting around to it, since I have had other concerns lately. The error I get is "Speech recognition could not start because the language configuration is not supported. The recognizer language must match the language of the user interface. Please change the recognizer language in the Speech Recognition control panel under Advanced Options." I go there and press certain buttons and I sometimes get the error message "The requested task can not be carried out because the neccesary engine can not be created. Please select a different engine and/or audio device." I have tried changing the laguage and then restarting and it still won't work. I am using the same mic I was using before when it worked. I have not installed any new sound drivers when it stopped although I have looked for the sound drivers since and there are no new ones. I also had two other problems after the same Windows 7 update with the All Programs not displaying in the Start Menu, but I have dont a temporary fix with that, but it is still not working the way it is supposed to as I had to make a new sub folder in the Programs folder and change the location to that folder every time I start up Windows and so now I go into All Programs and then a second folder, which is ok for now, gonna write a batch file to do it for me anyway. The other problem is that my sidebar wouldn't start, but I think I fixed that last night. As my gadgets are now working.

Upgrade Advisor Won't Run
I've downloaded and installed the advisor, but it won't start. And no error message at all. The privacy link works though. My PC is an Acer 8920G - a year old. .NET 3.5sp1 plus all other MS updates. OS is Vista Home Premium. Have rebooted, reinstalled, downloaded again - no different. Also checked the Event log - nothing other than saying the install was successful. The animation for the Start check button works. Then nothing. Any ideas?

Win 7 RTM Won't Install On Drive With Plenty Of Space
I am trying to install Windows 7 RTM on a Gateway P-7811 computer with lots of space left open on the drive, and Windows 7 Setup keeps on giving me the message that there is "Not enough space available on the hard drive to install". I had this same problem with the Windows 7 RC1 and Beta versions, and I traced it back to using Easeus Partition Master on the drive to remove a OEM Recovery Partition and combine that space into my primary partition. While I could do a clean install, there is a lot of information on this drive that I do not want to lose, simply put, and was wondering if anyone else had this problem and, if so, what the fix is for it?

Upgrade From Vista Installer Won't Run
I am trying to upgrade to Win7 RC from Vista. When I run the installer, I get an error "Cannot access network resource" and get asked for a password. I have an admin account but enter my logon details but then get a further error saying "windows can't access "g:setup". I can access that disk drive fine normally and the installer works if it boot to it, but I want to do upgrade rather than clean install. I've also tried 'run as administrator'- same error.

Safe Mode Won't Run - Computer Just Keeps Booting
I have recently run into some issues on my machine that runs Windows 7. I can't run Windows Media Player; it just says the file name and then "Server Execution Failed". I was advised to go into safe mode and type a command into cmd. However, safe mode would not work. At first I thought it was an F8 problem, so I was advised to go into msconfig > boot and change the system to boot into safe mode. I did that to find that safe mode gets into the driver loading screen and stops at windowssystem32driversClassPnP.sys and seems to load. It shows the cursor, but then disappears and my computer reboots. However, since my computer is set to load into safe mode, it constantly tries to log into safe mode, which doesn't seem to work, so it just restarts, tries to go into safe mode, but can't, so it restarts again, going through the process again and again. I have tried pressing "Delete" key at the beginning of boot up, but it does not show any thing else I can boot from. When I do get the F8 thing working, I select "Boot Windows Normally" but it just goes straight to the bootup of safemode. I have an Acer Aspire M3800 that only has the factory restore discs that Acer eRecovery Management has asked me to make when I first bought my computer. I obtained Windows 7 through the "free upgrade" program Acer is running.

Run 16-bit Programs From A Command Line
Since DOS 2.0 I have written and collected command line programs. Many do things not possible without command line support. Such as run an Assembler and editor from a .BAT file (I use A86 if you want to search for it) to created and run handy small .COM programs. But none of these 16-bit programs work on my Vista 64-bit. A friend has the same computer I have, but with Vista 32-bit and he verified a few of my .COM programs worked fine. ? Would I be able to install Win 7 32-bit and run them?

RTM Won't Go Back To Sleep After One Wake Event - Network Driver Issue
I have a licensed MSDN Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit RTM build 7600 installed to test out some media center software. It will go to S3 sleep and wake once successfully with powercfg -lastwake showing the correct wake event. Having woken once, then subsequent attempts to sleep result in the PC resuming instantly with powercfg -lastwake not showing any reason for the wake event. powercfg -devicequery wake_armed was showing only the network card being armed, as we want to use network events to wake the PC. The network chipset is Realtek RTL8111C Lan running the WHQL driver installed by Win7 RTM. This is an Asus P4-P5N9300 Barebone PC with 4GB RAM and E7400 CPU. It has an external USB Hauppauge dual tuner DVB-T tuner; PS2 keyboard and mouse; an X10 interface connected to the Com port. It has the BIOS set to S3 sleep; plug&play OS; all wake events disabled in the BIOS. When it wakes the network shows incorrectly as no internet connectivity, but it does work when you use IE. I saw a suggestion of only using magic packets to wake the PC, so set the pattern match to disabled and made sure magic packets were enabled and selected the checkbox in the power management tab to require magic packets. Same problem - once it wakes after the first magic packet it won't go back to sleep. The only way I can get the system to sleep more than once is to stop the network card waking the PC, which won't work in our desired use case of using WOL. Having established that it was a network card, I tried the latest Realtek drivers for Windows 7 - newer than then ones installed by RTM build, but this driver still prevents sleep after the first wake event. I know NDIS 6.2 was introduced in Win7, so it looks like the WHQL testing needs to cover S3 sleep tests, as the Realtek RTL8111C driver is clearly broken ! Does anyone know if it's possible to install a Vista network driver under Win7, as this doesn't add the new packet matching support, or alternatively are there any registry overrides for the network wake events?

Programs Won't Open Properly
OS: Win 7 HomeP 64bit Recently Installed programs: Dragon Agerigins/DX update I installed those both last night and played with no issues. Now today I turn on my PC and some programs won't open properly. My browser(Chrome) works(more on this later) and a few others do as well, but things like GameSpy Comrade, and Dragon Age, and Crysis 32/64bit will not open properly. When I click to open it loads for a bit than the program freezes, or it loads than does nothing. In both cases the program shows up in the task manager processes. If the program freezes it shows up in the task manager as running. Solutions I've tried: Restarting the computer Virus scan(No results) Can anyone give me some ideas? Also chrome opens 3 times in the processes but I only have one window and one tab open. Is this normal?

Running Programs Won't Show Up On Taskbar
I'm running 64-bit Windows 7. Last night my computer was fine, and I just booted up today to find that whenever I run programs, they don't show up on the taskbar. I have two monitors, one is my laptops screen and the other an external one. If I drag the applications to my laptop screen, they show up on the external screen, but if they are on the external screen, they don't show up at all. The external is set to my main display. Any ideas on what's going on?

Can't Install Myst 64 Bit Programs, And Some 32 Bit
Just like it says, I have some (several) programs that can install in either 32bit or 64bit as well as I have straight up 32bit and 64bit programs only that some install but most do not. Why is this? This is how it always goes, every time too. I start the installation process and it starts doing it's thing. All looks good so far, as the installer takes you through to each next step, like normal. And then it comes! After a couple of three of these first things (which all seem like they are working normal) all of a sudden, I see that it wants to install something quite normal, a "MicroSoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (64)" file/program/whatever and as the little green process line grows it gets almost to the end, and sits there for a few seconds and then I get THIS popup error message: http://www.md-arts.com/scrn/64bit_Windows7_InstallingError_Cxx2005.JPG Is there something I can do to fix this? I have even tried downloading this file off the net and installed it, but it never seems as though it did any good, since I still get these same problems.

Win7 Won't Install On 64 Bit Compatible Hardware
I just built a custom PC using the guts of an older Alienware with a few new upgrades:MOBO: Asus P5N32-SLI DeluxeCPU: Intel Pentium D 3.4GHz (4MB L2) supports EM64TRAM: 4GB (4X1GB) I tried installing a retail copy of Win7 Ultimate 64-bit and i get as far as the beautiful blue flowery background and a mouse cursor that just sits there doing nothing. When i pop in the 32-bit DVD, then i can install without a problem. Once the 32-bit installation finished up, i checked the "performance information and tools" and the reports stated that my machine is indeed 64-bit capable. I also checked the Intel and Asus support sites and determined that both my CPU and chipset are 64-bit compatible. The only other thing i can think of is that the Win7 DVD does not contain a 64-bit version of my SATA controlller and thus cannot access my hard drive. The issue with that is there doesn't seem to be an option to load drivers as it used to be available in XP by pressing F6.Any ideas?

Fail Upgrade To Win7 Ultimate RTM 32 Bit From Vista Ultimate 32 Bit
I just tried the upgrade from Vista 32bit Ultimate to Windows 7 32 Ultimate. Several issues occurred. First the install uses an incorrect version of jraid.sys (I suspect it may be a 64 bit version from what I have read on various posts). After copying the files the system reboots and fails as the jraid.sys file is corrupt or wrong version. I booted the Vista load and copied the Vista version of jraid.sys from windowssystem32drivers to $Windows.~BTwindowssystem32drivers and the system reboots Windows 7 and continues the install process. As it gets to the final stage, I get a message that the upgrade has failed (with no other info) and a rollback to Vista occurs. the $Windows.~BTsources ollback folder has a setupact.log file that details the roll back but the setuperr.log file is empty. Any suggestions?

Run Different Language Programs
How do i keep the OS in English, but run another program as a different language There should be an option to have a program always run as a set language I would like to be able to run an English, Japanese and Korean program side by side, not reset the computer just to run one app. I Know about applocal, but some times it does not cut it and the program fails to run properly. Windows should let me run a program from any country, not just one at a time.
