Monitor Does Not Turn Back On After Sleep

I've been running Windows 7 Pro 32-bit RTM on a Dell E1505 with Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz, 2GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon x1400 for a few weeks now.

My 1 and only problem is that ever since the fresh install of the OS, my Sleep/Hibernate has not been resuming properly BUT only in certain instances.

If my monitor is open (whether or not it is on or off), if I manually go into sleep or if it goes timeout to sleep, then it can resume perfectly and the monitor turns back on. However, if my lid is closed (whether my monitor is on or off - as I have tried it both ways with drivers that don't turn off the monitor when lid closed), after going timeout to sleep/hibernate, the resume comes back (since I can hear everything working and use keyboard shortcuts to works programs) but with a BLANK SCREEN (not just black, but off like it didn't turn back on).

I have ATI drivers v8.593.100.0 and intel motherboard chipset drivers version 9.1.1.

Any ideas or suggestions, and especially info from users who have an e1505 with Windows 7?

Monitor Won't Turn Back On After Sleep Mode?
so the Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit install is fresh, and all the drivers are the latest available. I have updated my mobo's bios to the latest version through Asus' "AI Suite II" which makes things very simple. I want my PC to be able to go into sleep mode but I don't want to have to force shutdown every time it goes into sleep mode after a time span. For some reason if I wake my PC after its been in sleep mode for a short period everything turns back on just fine... I know there might be a solution through the configuration panel

Computer Won't Turn Back On After Going Into Sleep Mode
I recently put together a new build and it's been working great, the only glaring problem I have is that when the computer goes into sleep mode, it won't turn back on. Specifically, in sleep mode it goes quiet, when I click mouse/press a key then the fans start up, sounds as if it's working, but the display remains completely black, and mouse laser doesn't turn on.

My system is:
- Intel i5-2500K overclocked to 4.2GHz (via motherboard overclocking utility)
- ASrock Z68 Extreme4 Motherboard
- Corsair Force 3 60gb ssd
- Asus GTX 570
- Corsair TX M600 power supply
- Corsair Carbide series 400r case (if it makes a difference?)

Monitor Doesn't Come Back From Sleep State
I went to sleep last night with the computer on (Windows 7 7077) like always and this morning it's still on but none of the usb devices are working, monitor doesn't come back from sleep state but the fans on all the components are still spinning. I tried hard rebooting 3-4 times and still nothing. I let it sit and cool off for a bit and still nothing. Anyone know what the problem could be?

I was thinking it was the motherboard but then wouldn't the ethernet light be off if the board wasn't working? The only thing on the computer the has been overclocked is the CPU which I took from 3.0ghz to 3.8ghz and it's been running fine on the stock cooler for the past 6 months almost and then bam it's like this. I don't think it could of been over heating as the temps usually run 30C at idle and 50-60C at full load and the side is off of it.

Screen Won't Turn Back On
When the screen shuts off due to time or the lid being closed, it doesn't seem to want to turn back on. I can put into standby and bring it back out and it works just fine. But, I'd rather not have to do that all the time.

It's a Dell Inspiron E1505 with a ATI Radeon X1400 video card if that helps at all.

If you need more info, let me know.

Windows Update Is Disabled And Will Not Turn Back On?
I am using a Windows 7 32 bit computer. My windows update has been disabled and when I try to check for updates I get the 'Windows update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer.' report. Restarting the computer does not work. I think that I am missing some important updates

Windows update does not appear in the Services menu.

I read that windows update is linked to windows defender, which I have found is also not running and will not turn back on. When I attempt to turn it on I get error code: 0x80070424, and it also does not appear in the Services menu.

I am using McAfee which I think could be interfering with Defender, I also ran a Security Check that I found through a previous thread, these were the results:

Results of screen317's Security Check version 0.99.43
Windows 7 Service Pack 1 x86 (UAC is enabled)
Internet Explorer 8 Out of date! ``````````````Antivirus/Firewall

Monitor Does Not Turn On
A week ago a friend gave me a generic tower with: [code] Power supply says made in 2002, so I'll have to guess the computer was made around that time and has windows XP installed. When I got it, it would not turn on (power connections to all drives were disconnected), now she turns on (all drives, fans (2) and mouse light up) but it won't turn on the monitor (monitor works on my other tower). I hear a few beeps when powered up (three I believe), could the graphics card be bad or do you think it's something else. Just want to use it to surf the net maybe burn cd/dvd's unless what's in there is useless, then I'll gut it out and use it for something else. but for now I would like to see it turn on the monitor and show the set up screen.

When Wake From Sleep, Display Won't Turn On?
Pretty self-explanatory by the title. I haven't had this problem until two days ago, and I Sleep my computer on a regular basis. This now happens about one out of three times I wake my computer. The computer turns on, but the display doesn't. It's not the monitor--if I power it off and on, nothing changes, but it will turn on as usual after I forcibly restart my computer. Every time this happens, my only option is to hold down the PC's power button until it shuts off and then power it back on. I've also checked all the cables. My guess is that it's the graphics card, though it's strange that it started recently--I haven't installed any video driver updates. The only change I can think of is Windows 7 auto updates that installed recently (none were for the display, all were for "x64-based systems").My graphics card is an EVGA 9600 GSO with 768MB DDR2.Windows 7 x64Hanns-G HH251 connected via DVI (video card end) to HDMI (monitor end) cable.

Laptop Doesn't Turn Off When Going Into Sleep / Hibernate
My laptop is an MSI Gx660, running windows 7 64bit with 12gb ram.The laptop is only 1-2months old and My harddisk has very little files with about 205gb free on the C drive.

After using for a long period of time like 6-7hours, I would usually put my laptop into hibernate mode. When I click hibernate, the screen turns black but even after 20mins the power button including wifi and other lights doesnt go off, which I have to force shutdown by holding the power button. Even sleeping the laptop after 6-7hours does the same issue, unable to go to sleep(indicated by the blinking power button)

The wierd thing is that if I use the laptop for about 2 hours or less, I am able to fully hibernate or sleep, which I tested a few times.

How To Turn On Wifi Adapter After Resuming From S3 Sleep
My adapter is always gone from resuming from sleep. I know it was working before. Just changed my ram and bios settings from a fresh build. Went from Corsair xms3 to G.Skill Ripjaws.

I am having this same issue with my newly built pc. The drive running Windows 7 is from a laptop where the mobo died. I am using it in AHCI mode because my case has a front hot swap caddy.

I have a Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3 mobo and after installing and uninstalling drivers, software, changing settings, removing ram, changing power options to maximum power for pci card and wifi, turning off hibernate, restarted, rebooted, updated all drivers from Gigabyte, chipset drivers, etc. I have unchecked "allow Windows to turn off this device". Restarted and tested and I get the same issue. I have unchecked this box in all of my networking devices too including, 802.11n Wireless Lan Card #2 and Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter. Also, uninstalled and reinstalled these and updated drivers from my disc that came from Gigabyte as well as driver update from the Gigabyte website.

Nothing I do will turn on my wifi card after sleep. Windows will not see a network adapter. Everything works fine after restarting though. I have S3 enabled in bios as that is what I want. I have case fans that I don't want to hear with no option to turn them off. Otherwise, i'd be fine with S1.

Is this just not a working feature? I've read that sleep is an ongoing issue with Windows, but my pc sleeps fine. I just want to be able to put my pc to S3 sleep and resume with a working wifi card. There must be a key setting i'm missing because i'm sure it was working with my last set of ram.

Laptop Doesn't Turn Off Screen, Go To Sleep?
I have recently notice that my laptop has the following issues:- Doesn't follow power option settings (shutting off the monitor, go to sleep on timeout, etc)- Doesn't turn on the screen saver. Previewing the screensaver turns it off in about a second (even if my hands are off the mouse/keyboard).- Windows 7 Projector Connection screen (WinKey+P) goes away after a second or so after bringing it up- Some windows open in background (for example, Picasa image viewer opens windowed in the background instead of fullscreen in front as it used to)From what I understand based on some light Googling and vague leads, there is some sort of interrupt happening that makes the OS think it is being actively used. Unfortunately I am not sure how to pinpoint and solve the issue from here on, so therefore I turn to this forum for help. Some notes about stuff I tried and know about this issue:- This must have happened in the past week or two. I do not recall installing any new software and the only updates that passed my memory were Windows Updates.- Checking Task Manager doesn't reveal any suspicious processes to me.- Some sources suggested this could be a faulty Logitech driver. I own a Logitech mouse and keyboard combo.

Something to consider, I guess?Specs:- Windows 7 32b SP 1, up to date- AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-58- 2GB RAM- 250GB HDD- ATI Radeon Xpress 1150- Connected devices: LAN, Logitech Alto Connect Notebook Stand, Logitech S520 Keyboard + mouse that goes with that kit, USB external drive, VGA monitor, line-in running into the microphone port to play sound out of the laptop speakers

my monitor won't turn on after it turns off automactially (I set this to 5 minutes in windows). I've disabled sleep mode and all that jazz. I suspect it might be an ssd problem because when it won't turn on there is minimal activity with the hard disc LED light.I've also disabled sleep, hybrid sleep and the page file thingie. I just want it to turn off my monitor, not put my computer to sleep[CODE]

Monitor Won't Turn On After Windows Updates
I've been having this problem for a long time now and have found various, unreliable solutions each time. The basic problem is that my computer will turn on, the fans will turn on, the mouse and keyboard turn on, the CD drive turns on, the disk access light blinks, and everything seems to be working fine, but the monitor won't turn on. I'm using dual LG monitors, connected to one of my two NVIDIA 8600 GT graphics cards which are SLI'd together.I have about a 1 in 100 chance of the monitor actually turning on (which is to say that out of about 100 tries just turning on and off the computer, the monitor will turn on). In the event that the monitor does turn on, I get the "windows did not start up correctly" error, at which point I try to run startup repair, with varying degrees of success.

About 1 in every 5 times, a system restore back to before I installed the updates on my computer will work. For the other 4 times, system restore will either fail, or when restarting the computer, the monitor again fails to turn on. However, when this does work, the updates which I had installed end up not installed, and the next time I shut down my computer, I have to repeat the same process again.I've also confirmed that it must have something to do with the system updates. If I force shut-down my computer without installing updates, I have no problems turning it back on. I'll get the start-up message that windows did not shut down correctly, and I'll be asked if I want to start in safe mode, etc. However, picking "start windows normally" works just fine. Additionally, if instead of shutting down the computer I hibernate the computer, it also starts up just fine. The problem only arises when I click "shut down" and updates are installed. Any other form of shutting down or stand-by works just fine.

Need A Logging Program / Monitor Won't Turn Off
I assume something is polling the web or keeping my monitors alive but I can't figure it out.nothing has changed in my setup other than a possible windows update but in the last few weeks my screensaver stays on 24/7.I played with it today and got it to shut off but i set the screen off time at 2 minutes, just 1 minute after the screen saver.I am using ultramon on a dual monitor setup. and for a screensaver I am using gPhotoShow. (allows separate/distinct slideshows for each monitor) as I have been for several assumption is something is now polling the net or doing some activity that is preventing the monitor from sleeping. So I'm wondering if there is a logging program that I can use to track this down. i did hijack this but that isn't helping (as far as I can tell)
