I've did a clean install of windows 7 on my notebook (compaq). On my device manager, it reflects missing driver for 'base system device'. I tried locating on HP's website but to no avail. Tried updating from microsoft doesn't seem to work as well. Can anyone help?

HP Pavilion Dv9000 Laptop Driver For Base System Device
I just installed Windows 7 Beta on my HP Pavilion Dv9000 laptop and everything is working really well, but in device manager I have 2 items listed under Other Devices that say Base Sytem Device. I am assuming I need some kind of driver for them, but I am not sure how to tell what they are or what driver they will need. How do I figure this out? If I get the properties of these devices under the general tab I see Device type: Other device, Manufacturer: Unknown, and Location: PCI bus 9, device 9, function 3.

Base System Device Drivers Not Installed
In Device Manger under "Other Devices" there is an entry titled "Base System Device." The message is " The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28). There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver." Also "pci bus 9, device 3, function 2" appears. Needless to say, the "Update Driver Software" nor the Sony Support Website seem to list any drivers. However, everything seems to work but perhaps I haven't used whatever function this driver runs. I'm running a Sony laptop, Model VGN-FW351J. 2.00 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo, 64 kilobyte primary memory cache, 2048 kilobyte secondary memory cache, 64-bit ready, Multi-core (2 total), Not hyper-threaded.Any suggestions to update (or install) the driver will be greatly appreciated.

Base System Device Drivers Not Installed After Win 7 Pro 64 Bit Clean Installation
I've just clean installed Win 7 Pro 64 bit on a Dell Inspiron 640m laptop with Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 processor (original OS was Vista Ultimate). All appears to have gone well but on checking Device Manager there's a Base System Device entry in Other Devices group which is showing an exclamation mark. On opening this entry it shows "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" Clicking Update Driver and searching the Internet fails to locate a driver. I didn't install an Intel chipset after the Win 7 install (this computer is almost 3 years old and Dell haven't provided a chipset for Win 7 so I'm assuming chipset support is included in Win 7 out of the box).Could anyone advise if the above is likely to cause any significant problems?

A CD/DVD Device Driver Is Missing Problem
My installation comes up with a message "A CD/DVD device driver is missing" then prompts you to browse for a driver. This is really stupid because the only CD/DVD is the one that win 7 is using to do the install and it is already reading from that.I abandoned the x64 install and went for x32 and this installs with no problem as does the x64 Beta Any ideas on how to fix it?

LG Dvd/rw (Sata) Device Driver Missing
Just got the new public version of windows 7 this morning, and now I'm confused. I have a new LG dvd/rw (Sata) which I am trying to use to install windows 7, but I always get this message after I reboot my computer and after the "setup is starting" screen: "a necassary cd/dvd device driver missing" and it asks me to browse / search for the driver. Now thinking it might be my dvd drive, I got another one.... same story, I tried by loading windows 7 on a 4gb thumb drive STILL happened. As a last ditch effort I tried to disconnect the dvd drive and install using my thumb drive without a dvd drive installed at all and it STILL brought up the problem. Any body have any suggestions?

Pioneer DVR 113NP CD/DVD Device Driver Missing
Nothing posted here or there or anywhere works. I have Windows 2000 with a 3 month old Pioneer DVR 113NP. I have burned it fast and slow, with multiple media and programs and always the same result "...cd/dvd driver blah blah blah". ____ I even tried to download the compatibilty program for Windows 7, guess what you need to XP installed for it to work. Now I am thinking there is a big problem with the RC. And I understand that is why they released it to find these things but at this point I would have assumed that this type of issue would have been ironed out. I was excited to try Windows 7 since I would like to come forward from my 2000 Professional but now ...I don't know. I feel MS is missing the boat, go to XP and issue yearly upgrades for $50( I would certainly pay for this), why re- invent the wheel every few years? Anyway, unless I see something posted as to why these issues are happening from MS I think I may have to seriously consider Linux BECAUSE I am not going to buy something I can't test drive first.

Can't Install Because Critical System Driver Is Missing Or Corrupt
I've just acquired Windows 7 Professional and wanted to install it now, formatting my HDD during setup (I'm currently running XP Professional). However, when I boot from the DVD, I get the Starting Windows screen and then the Boot Manager screen opens with the error message: "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. A critical system driver is missing or corrupt. File: Windowssystem32DRIVERSadp94xx.sys" Tried to google it, but all I found was that it's an Adaptec driver for the Windows Kernel and that's is a Vista related problem as well. same problem when starting Windows 7 (though he had already installed it), but fixed it by disabling driver signature enforcment. This, though, didn't work for me. And I sure didn't have any hardware or software changes, especially since I didn't even install it yet. Because I couldn't. btw, when I try to install it from XP, it seems to work fine. Stopped the progress though, don't want to have 2 OS. Any ideas? More information needed?

Failed To Load Because A Critical System Driver Is Missing Or Corrupt
I've downloaded the official 7000 release twice, burned 2 different DVD's, and installed Win7 twice but it has yet to work. It seems to install fine but then gets confused after it restarts. After I've started installing it goes through the first reboot and then it never boots into Win7."Starting Windows" comes on the screen and then the Boot Manager screen opens with the "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause..." message. Depending on which install i select from the bootloader I get one of 2 driver errors:File: Windowssystem32DRIVERSlsi_fc.sysorFile: Windowssystem32DRIVERSadp94xx.sys I've got an Abit AV8 MB. I have 2 WD SATA 300gb drives installed however am installing Win7 on a old WD (reformatted) 80gb IDE drive. Any ideas?

HP L2000 Notebook Missing Drivers
I just did a Win7 x64 RTM clean install on my HP L2000 notebook. After install and auto update (it updated my display and network driver) I still do not have drivers for "mass storage controller", "multimedia audio controller" and "PCI modem". HP does not have any Vista x64 drivers on their web site. The HP docs indicate that these are "TI media card reader", "Conexant CX20408-31 AC97" and "Conexant CX20493-58" devices. Real drivers on Windows Update would be really nice! Please respond if you know where genuine x64 drivers are available.

HP Dv3 Notebook - Unknown Device - Value = ACPI HPQ004
Code 28 (not installed). That makes sense. "Location: on PCI bus" "No conflicts" and always turns up in a hardware PnP scan after deleting it. Update driver does nothing (not surprised). IRQ=23 (0x17). Device value=ACPIHPQ004 smells like ACPI but my Power Management is working perfectly. Yes, I tried googling. HP support site is not yet aware of Windows 7. Any ideas for experimenting? I am a software developer by profession and a hardware installer for fun. So, wild experimental ideas are most welcome.
