View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Vostro 1500, running 32-bit Windows 7. It came with Vista, but I upgraded to Windows 7 a couple months ago, which I think is causing the issues I'm experiencing. According to whoever I'm speaking with, the sound for the microphone built in to my webcam fades in and out and gets really loud randomly. In an attempt to solve this, I bought an external microphone which also does not work. The sound driver is the SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC, version 6.10.0.5614. When I tried to update it through Windows 7's update driver software it says I have the best version for my system, but I still suspect that this could be what is causing the problem.

my computer does not recognize when i plug a microphone in. I am using a pair of headphones with a microphone attached to it. I have tried 2 different sets so i know the actual mic works. Under control panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Manage Audio Devices, Recording tab, it says "no audio devices are installed" I have tried using 2 different ports and it still doesnt work.I recently installed to windows 7 from vista, could it be that some sort of audio driver didnt get installed or xfered over correctly? How would i figure this out? My microphone worked just fine when i had windows vista installed. NOTE that my sound works fine and the audio comes through my headset just fine, but i cant get the microphone to work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue getting my microphone working. I used to have the logitech USB mic about a year ago and that worked great, then one day it stopped working. I tried fixing it for a while but couldn't figure it out, so I gave up on it. The mic was not the problem because it worked perfectly fine on other computers. Recently a came across another brand USB mic so I decided I would give that a try also, this just doesn't work either. The problem is that when I plug it in, it recognizes and installs the drivers (USB Audio Device). When I go into recording on sound options, it shows the mic there as the default device. Now when I click it, the levels tab is just blank. Also I cannot make any changes to the microphone such as "Listen to this device" etc, none of the options will stick. If I go into windows sound recording for example, it will tell me "An audio recording device cannot be found". To troubleshoot this issue, I uninstalled the USB port it is plugged into, tried it again. I tried this with multiple ports front and back. I then tried uninstalling USB Audio Device drivers, then when I plug the mic in, it installs everything again. It does it all successfully, no errors, but then it doesn't give me a working mic.I made a video demonstrating the problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedFirst of all:I'm having a Creative Soundmaster Audigy 4 SE 7.1 soundcard and the (according to the Windows update manager) latest driver availabe.I recently installed Windows 7 because I always wanted to know how it was.Everything went fine, the Update Manager automatically installed all the drivers I needed, but now there's a problem with my audio settings.Since I've been switching over to Windows 7 people have told me that I'm very very quiet in Teamspeak or Skype, so I tried to activate the microphone boost in the audio settings. But when I open the settings of my microphone and click the "custom" tab, all I see is "Do not monitor".There's no microphone boost. I heard from some people they had the same problem under Windows Vista and solved it by switching to newer drivers, but alas, it seems I have the newest beta driver for Windows 7.
Is there any other way towards activating the boost or do I just have to wait until Creative releases a Windows 7 beta driver with microphone boost included?I also checked if the problem comes from my headset, but it's working fine under Windows XP with microphone boost enabled. The voice recognition experience
For the past four hours, i've been struggling with a problem, my microphone wasn't being heard by my friends who I was attempting to talk to on skype. I looked, and my microphone was hearing my voice, but my Stereo mix Was Not. I have no idea how to fix this problem, my mic is fine, i've tried multiple mics, i've also tried multiple chat things, such as ooVoo and what not. I have asked my step-father and he has no clue.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just recently upgraded to Win 7 Ultimate and I found that I was having multiple problems with the sound. I have solved the problem with my speakers/headphones after upgrading drivers (et al.), but my microphone is not being recognized. When I go to the Speaker Icon in the system tray and right-click to bring up the dialog then go to recording devices, what I get is this: No audio devices are installed. The playback dialog shows the correct information: High definition audio device. Default device.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an audio recording issue and I will try to explain it as best I can. When I record with a microphone, the recorded audio plays back very low. I have gone through the settings for hours on end and can find no cause. I have the microphone gain at 100% and the boost at +30. The system plays back other prerecorded files fine with plenty of level. When I play my recorded files I must crank up the volume, so high that I get a lot of background hiss. It records fine, just very low. I took a look at this in both Audacity and Adobe Soundbooth and the level meters reflect the low signal level as being down in the mud. I have not tried 'Line in' to see if it works any better, I have only used the microphone. BTW, I have tried several microphones all with the same results. Additionally, are the microphone input jacks in my motherboard stereo? The boom microphone cable on my headset is a three wire just like the ear pieces. Does anyone know the pin configuration for this jack? I am assuming the the tip is one channel the ring is the other channel and the base is ground/common. FYI, the Sound system is onboard - Asus P6X58D Premium mobo running 7 x64 Pro, and Realtek HD drivers. (Installed and reinstalled and updated) Also, I tested the headset and boom microphone on another system, (Abit IL9 Pro mobo onboard audio running Vista 32 business) it also is running Realtek HD drivers and it works fine.

I know next to nothing about computers so I've been googling and messing around with settings to try and get it to work, I've even uninstalled and re-installed the sound and webcam drivers, but nothing is going on. Basically, I'm trying to use Skype and I can see and hear them, they can see me, they just cannot hear me. I've tried the tests and stuff on the computer seperate from Skype, but it's still not working. Also, I don't know if it helps at all but the microphone is Realtek HD Audio?
