Media Key Functionality Problem / Remote Keyboard Keys Not Working
I already had a topic about this, but since its locked, and some people still seem to have this problem, ill post a new one.
No one seems to have found a solution, but i just got one, and now i wish to share it with everyone having the same problem. Hope this is the right place where to post it.
The issue: Neither are Microsoft xp media center remote (model: 1039) or Logitech G15 keyboard media buttons working.
The cause: Obviously the situation to be fixed here is very rare, since there is no reason at all that the Service "HID" would be disabled, but seems in some cases this might happen. This is only a rough guess, but it is probably something to do with some drivers or updates you or windows have/has installed.
The solution:
1. Open start menu located on your taskbar.
2. Right-click "Computer" and open "Manage".
3. At the left, under "computer management", you find "Services and Applications". Open it and select "Services".
4. Search for a service named "HID (Human Interface Device)" (or something VERY similar).
5. Once found, check the status. If the value is not "Started", start it.
6. To make sure it will be on also in the future, check the Startup Type value. If not "Automatic", right click it, and select properties.
7. Under the tab "General", change the Startup type to Automatic.
8. Apply and close.
Note! If everything is already as above, the problem might be caused by wrong or old drivers, but with the remote control, this shouldn't be the issue.
Hope this helped.
If you are having problems understanding the above, check out the picture below containing the steps 1 to 4.

Saitek Elipse III Keyboard Keys Not Working
I just bought a new Saitek Eclipse III keyboard. There is no software to install or anything and runs of windows defaults. However, none of the normal alphabet keys or number keys work on windows 7. Although the multi-media keys do work on the keyboard. Yet, the keyboard work perfectly on my windows XP pc. Any ideas how this can solved or is it a case of cancelling my windows 7 pre-order?

Digital Media Pro Keyboard Media Buttons Not Working With ITunes
It seems to work for WMP, but for iTunes the play/pause, stop, fwd, back buttons seem to not work when the iTunes window is minimized. They work when the iTunes window is up, which I manually bring up with the mouse. They do not work when it is minimized. This obviously undermines the purpose of buttons on the keyboard. I'm hoping for a new version of the driver that will deal with this. I got the new driver from the website when I put my driver cd in and it prompted me to search for new. The new one is running in XP SP3 compatibility mode. Any idea? I am running W7 x64bit

No Working Media Buttons, Keyboard
Just reinstalled windows 7 this weekend together with new hardware. But i have encountered some problems, both with sound and keyboard. On my keyboard which is a Logitech Ultra X (Ultra X) i have some buttons at the top, like Media, play/pause, www, email and mute. These have been working earlier on both windows xp and vista, but now they are not working. Very frustrating as i use them very often. Do any of you guys in here have any idea about how this may be fixed?

Keyboard Sticking Keys
I’m having some problems with keys sticking with windows 7 while playing games . While in-game I have found that some keys "stick", the keys are NOT physically sticking on the keyboard but the effect is the same. The effect is most prominent in 1st person shooters. When running around the keys will seem to stick. When letting go of a key (e.g. WASD, arrow keys, Ctrl and other common command keys) it is as though the key is still depressed for another 2ish seconds. I first noticed this in old games such as Original Unreal Tournament and Quake 3 Arena (yes I am aware how sad it is to still be playing these games) but with further investigation I have similar problems with more modern games such as WarHammer 40,000 Dawn of War (plus expansions) although this seems only to be with command keys such as the Ctrl key. I originally noticed this with the windows 7 RC version but assumed this was a bug. Since I have now upgraded to the released Windows 7 PRO I still find the same problems.... Anyone else discovered these problems? The keys are NOT physically sticking on the keyboard I have tried using another keyboard and since writing this I have noticed the problem with the Ctrl key is apparent in FireFox aswel but I am unsure if this is a problem with other web browsers.

Keyboard Sending Wrong Keys
I noticed while in word that the keys i was sending were not being translated onto the .doc as they should. Everything was capital for example, without caps locked. And I if selected a single word in the doc, or tried to, windows would select everything in the doc above were i selected, but nothing below, just with a single click. So i rebooted, and now cannot login. Keep saying wrong PW. But if i try to RDP into the PC from another, i am able to login just fine. I've uninstalled the device driver for keyboard and mounse, scan for chanaged and still no luck. I cannot figure this out. There have been no updates applied to the PC. Any ideas?

Special Keyboard Keys Causing Double Action
I have a Genius wired keyboard with a row of special keys at the top (media/web/calculator/sleep etc). I am finding that pressing the 'calculator' key causes TWO instances of the calculator to run. This happens every time. The same applies to the 'email' key, but not AFAICT to any of the other special keys. I'm running Win7 RC x64. Recent install (a few days). No specific keyboard drivers - just the Standard PS/2 Keyboard driver.

Internet Explorer Wizard - Keyboard Quick Keys
Installed Windows 7 RC a few days ago and so far I am very impressed. I've run into two small issues that aren't big deals, but I did want to mention them.Occasionally the Internet Explorer First Run Wizard will pop up when opening IE. Seems like once you run it the first time, it would disable itself -- not sure why it keeps wanting to pop back up.Also, my keyboard (Razer Lycosa) has the quick keys for audio volume. My keyboard drivers installed from Windows Update and the quick keys worked for about a day. Now they no longer work. I uninstalled the device drivers and then did a hardware scan so it would find the keyboard again and reinstall the drivers. The quick keys still don't work.Like I said, neither of the issues are major problems, just slight annoyances. If anyone has any tips, chime in and let me know.

Remote Desktop Connection But No More Keyboard
This morning I was working in eplorer to move some files, and Windows 7 asked me if I wanted to turn on filtering mode, and I confirmed. Now when I use my remote desktop session from a windows xp machine that has always worked, I now only have control with my mouse, but no more keyboard input. I do not know if the filtering mode has anything to do with it, but I cannot figure out why I cannot use my keyboard anymore in RDP. Funny thing is, it DOES work when I login to windows 7, I can type my password but when the desktop is there, I cannot use the keyboard anymore.. Any suggestions anyone?

HP Dv7 Notebook Remote Not Working
I just installed Windows 7 last week. I've managed to get all the drivers working with the exception of what's needed for the remote. It will not work with Windows 7 media center. I am not getting any error messages, the computer just does not respond to the remote at all. Here's some info that may help: Windows Vista Home Premium x64 bit original install to fresh install of Windows 7 Professional x64 bit. No problems during installation. Remote worked fine in Vista before install. Already downloaded drivers from HP's support page for the dv7-1247cl (my model) and there doesn't seem to be one for the remote.
