View 9 RepliesAlright, I was wondering if it was at all possible to get a folder pinned to the start menu AND have it have the expansion arrow to the right, like Visual Studio, and Steam do.My idea is to make categories of folders, like system maintenance, and have a debugger, a registry cleaner, anti-virus, etc in this folder and then be able to access it from the start menu pinned folder directly without having to open the folder explicitly and run the .exe.

lost both documents folders. User folder and Public folder. I tried to re-create it but there is now no location. I had moved My Documents to another drive but did not do it correctly (I moved My Pictures etc successfully). I need to recreate the user documents file and re-direct it to the document location. How would I use the solution for Public documents (above) to re-create the User document file.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've used Outlook for a few years and have set up a bunch of personal folders for things such as online receipts for the past few years. I now use Outlook Connector (so I can sync my HTC phone) and have just tried moving each of those folders into my "@hotmail.com" folder, which is now the default. My logic being that by doing so, each of these folders will now be backed up online in my Hotmail account too. However, a pop up message appeared, stating that there was some kind of sync issue and would I like to try to repair this? I clicked ok and long story short, the folders are now no longer in their original folder locations or in the locations that I had moved them to. My inbox is also now filled with old emails that I've already replied to and subsequently deleted and some of my draft emails have returned to states that are not my most recent edits.I think Outlook Connector had stopped working correctly a while back, as my Outlook inbox and Hotmail inbox were not syncronised, and it's now returned to some earlier state or something?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen browsing a website that I have pinned to my taskbar (Facebook for example) I've noticed that the pages take longer than usual to load. When it does load, the page becomes very choppy when I'm scrolling up/down and is generally slow to respond. It's the same for any website I have pinned to my taskbar.
The strange thing is, If I open up IE9 (non-pinned) and browse using the address bar everything is smooth and fast. I've cleared my temp internet files and reset IE to default settings with no luck. I've also tried un-pining then re-pinning website but it's still the same. Is there a way I can clear the cache for individual pinned sites?

View 2 Replies View RelatedA strange issue: For the past few days I was pinning a lot of programs to the start menu and aligning them the way I want without any problems. Now when I pin a new app and unpin it, the whole list (except, for some strange reason, the snipping tool and the programs features) disappears. And it reappears if I repin the same app or some other app. And will disappear if align a newly added app or sometimes an existing one. As far as i can discern, there is no pattern and it appears totally random to me.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI seem to be having a problem with the pinned programs on my taskbar and I was wondering if anybody can help me here. Most of the programs on my taskbar simply highlight the icon that I clicked when I want to start the program or start a new instance of the program. However, a select few programs (iTunes, Peggle Nights, Plants vs. Zombies), for whatever reason, when I click on them, they form a new icon for the program on the right of the rest of the icons.
For instance, when I click on iTunes (when the program is not already running), it will highlight the icon I clicked for a moment then form a new iTunes icon in addition to the old iTunes icon and the new one will be the one I must use to control iTunes. This exact problem persists in the other programs as well. Can anybody help me fix this?

View 0 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Touchsmart 300-1060a (Home Premium Windows 7 64 BIT) which I bought few years back. Now for the last 6 months or so I started getting issues with my machine was not displaying anything at all after turning it on. So I had to hard reset my power from the machine and then was able to see it started displaying again. At first I suspected graphic card (NVIDIA GEFORCE) but then I did my diagnostic test and nothing was found. One day, I started re-imaging my machine as a fresh and then after this it never came back ONLINE. I read all HP forums & even HP Online support was unable to help me to find the cause.Because when I turn on my machine I can see the power light was on and could hear big fan noise but mo HDD activity at all.So at this stage, I suspected either motherboard or BIOS but wasn't 100% sure what could be the real cause because I was sure it was not due to graphic card.So first I re-setted by my BIOS to see if it helps but it didn't came up at all. So then I took my machine to a Computer repair shop (a friend of mine) and we detected it could be due to the regulator which supplies power to the CPU and motherboard. So we replaced that part and now my HP Touchsmart is running fin since then. But I have lost my HP Startup logo with options such as below: [code]
View 4 Replies View RelatedEvery time I have a update to Firefox I loose the tabs that I've pinned to the taskbar. Is there anyway to spot this happening?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIn IE9 you can pin your favourite websites to the taskbar. If it is a large commercial site it may have its own Icon and that is displayed in the Taskbar. However you are meant to be able to change the icon, so for sites without an icon that just display the MS "e" symbol you can design a specific icon so you can identify the sites easily.I thought that to do this you go to the properties window by right clicking on the icon then right clicking on the page name in the popup window. One of the tabs should then allow you to change the icon

It'd be nice to see some replies regarding this.
P.S App is written in C# for those who wonder...
W7ExplorerShortcut is the console application that only allows you to set it to open My Computer.
7Tweaker is the GUI application that gives you a list of options.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAssume I pin a prgm to the Taskbar in Windows 7. How can I (later) add some additional start cmdline parameters for the launch of this program?
Sample: I pinned Windows Explorer. How can I add parameters like
explorer.exe /n,/e,D:work
Do I really have to create a shortcut first, then add the parms here in shortcut Properties and finally pin the shortcut? I cannot believe this procedure is the only way.
Under WinXP I could directly right click on an icon on QuickLaunchBar and add the parms without problems.
I have Windows 7 RC installed on two different computers and this has happened on both.
I'll install a program I use a lot, pin it to the taskbar and some of the icons will lose their original icon after awhile. It doesn't seem to effect the operation of the program or the shortcut to the program, it's just sort of annoying to have to curse over the pinned program to know what it is, instead of just being able to tell by its icon. The programs this happens to are not the same from machine to machine, either. If that makes sense.
Has anyone else come across this and were you able to remedy the issue?
I upgraded my Vista Ultimate installation to Windows Seven Ultimate. I am using RTM version 7600.
I have tried on several occasions to pin some folders to explorer. The pinning works fine and they will stay there until I reboot the machine, at which point when I right click the Windows Explorer icon on the taskbar, the pins have now disappeared? This is rather annoying as I use a number of different folders and on my old Vista installation I had taskbar shortcuts for each folder.
I have a really weird problem here. Pinning certain apps to the superbar causes them to stop appearing in the 'frequently used programs' list - but only for certain programs; currently I've noticed it with DestroyTwitter (an Adobe Air app) but more puzzlingly, with Winamp and VLC media player.
DestroyTwitter is set to minimize/close to systray and Winamp is docked but not set to appear in the superbar at all - so its icon is always in the systray even while it's technically not 'minimized' but hidden at the top of my screen.
On the other hand, VLC doesn't have any special tray settings. Also, Digsby works fine pinned and in the recent menu, and it's set to close to systray (though it minimizes to taskbar).
I know opening an app from the pinned apps doesn't 'count' towards the use count that the frequently used programs list is based on - but even opening them from their start menu entries doesn't make any difference until I manually unpin the app. The rest of the frequently used programs list works fine.
I can't figure this out. Anyone have any thoughts? (I've tried changing the minimize-to-tray settings, with no difference).
When I right click on Windows Media Player on the taskbar, the recent files and task lists appears, but don't work : when I click on a file or a task, nothing happen .
However, it worked at the beginning (just after Windows installation), and it still work for other programs. I tried a system restore, and the problem persist.
I'm on Seven Beta 1 (Build 7000).
So recently I've seen that some people still use quicklaunch, which perplexes me a bit. I can't think of anything you can do with quicklaunch that you cannot do with the regular pinned icons via a keypress or two. Now I'm not criticizing anyone for continuing to use quicklaunch as it does make some things easier, but it makes me wonder if you who do are aware of how to do some stuff via the pinned icons. Not to mention that the taskbar looks prettier without quicklaunch.
Mostly, actions performed by quicklaunch can be activated via the shift button.
Opening a new instance of a program for example, can be done by shift clicking a pinned taskbar item(or middle clicking).
The most frequent reason I find for using quicklaunch is for opening files with a certain program, like opening pictures with photoshop. This is easily done with pinned items by simply holding shift as you drag the files to the programs. You will get a little tooltip saying "Open file with blah blah", and voila.
Also, if you right click on the programs in the jumplist, normally you don't get a whole lotta options. However, if you shift-right click, you will get all the options you would normally get by accessing the program in its true folder.
Shift-rightclicking on items pinned on the taskbar also allows you minimize windows more readily and stuff. I know that this was out before, but I thought it would be useful for some to reiterate.
