I cant get the software to read the fingerprint sensor. I used the New windows 7 x64 bit drivers but still no luck. The message that is being returned by the program is " Does anyone have any suggestion's. I have gone in the device manager and looked at all of the units and they say that the biometric driver is working fine. Could it be a bad install and just try it again? Windows 7 64-bit Lenovo T61

IBM Lenovo Thinkpad T61 Problem
I have an IBM Lenovo Thinkpad T61. I have changed the BIOS boot order with the ATAPI DVD first. I hear the DVD spin up but I never get the black screen with the question to boot from the CD. The computer then boots up to Vista. I have Windows 7 commercial bought 3 computer use. I am using the 32 bit CD. I have changed the boot order numerous times and no different. I saw a post that referenced a Maid drive or something like that and not sure if that may be the problem.

Not Loading USB Device Drivers On Lenovo T61
I just installed Windows 7 RC 64-bit on a Lenovo T61 laptop (model 6463-5BU). All of the device drivers loaded successfully, with the exception of the USB drivers. It won't detect any USB devices, and when I go to Device Manager, all of the USB controllers give the following error: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)". I tried uninstalling and updating drivers, but it says it has the latest version. Any suggestions?

Lenovo T61 With Nvidia Quadro NVS 140m
Thought I'd make a post of this since I had trouble getting my graphics driver working with build 7264 x64 and the latest 7600 x64 release.. The driver I used earlier was presented on windows update as a (WDDM Pre-release) (does not show up with build 7264 x64 and latest 7600 x64) Download this driver -> http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/nvidia/185series/18624_win7x64.exe When you extract it you will find a zip archive called: additional_infs.zip Inside this archive extract the file called: nvlt.inf Put it with the rest of the files you extracted from the .exe file. The driver is not digitally signed, but you will at least get your video card working

Lenovo T61 / Intel Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Issue
I am seeing two problems, which I suspect are Video Driver related. After completing the logon sequence, my background and the toolbar are poorly rendered, and large areas are not drawn on the screen. Once I drag a window over the background the problem resolves. Second in any window I open (Such as Explorer, Word Etc) the buttons on the Windows title bar (Application Icon and Control Menu, and the Min, Max, Close on the right) are not drawn. I can scroll over ant they appear correctly. I am using a Dual Display in a docking station, with a DVI cable. However the redering problems appear on both the laptop screen and the digital monitor. I have tried to find an updated driver (the most recent Vista one won't install, not sure if I can force it with compatability mode). Device Manaager reports I have the most recent driver (8.15.10.1662 dated 2/20/2009). Any suggestions or leads on a more recent driver?

Thinkpad T61 Does Not Use External Monitor After Update
I just installed W7 on a T61. During the installation is use FN F7 to change to my external monitor. The notebook screen was not shut off but it did not bother me at the time to have both monitors.Installation went fine until i finished my Windows update. After rebooting I no longer can use the external monitor. Using FN F7 does no longer switch to the external monitor, checking for additional monitors in display settings does not find the external monitor either. However, when going into the device manager the monitor is listed correctly and the properties show that it's working correctly. Is there anything else I need to do to get my external monitor back? Not sure if it has anything to do with it but I use a port replicator with the T61 and the monitor is connected to the port replicator port.

BSOD: Lenovo Keyboard
I have a USB keyboard, Lenovo's travel keyboard with UltraNav, modeled after its laptop keyboards, Model # SK-8845. When I plug it into my computer, it works fine in the bios, allowing me to navigate all the menus, save, and restart, but when I boot into windows 7 RC build 7100, It gets to the login screen and is unresponsive. I believe it locks up the whole computer because I can't use a separate USB mouse at that point either.

Lenovo Z61p Drivers
I recently installed the RC build 7100 (64-bit) onto a Lenovo Z61p laptop. Everything seems to be proceeding normally ... however, there is one thing that I do not understand ... The Device Manager shows a device that is not recognized. It is a "Mass Storage Controller" and the location is "PCI bus 21, device 0, function 2" and no other meaningful information whatsoever. Can someone help with any information about this? What is it and what driver should I use to enable it (or not)? Etc.

Bluetooth On Lenovo X200
I have installed Windows 7 x64 Ultimate RTM and I have an apparently very common unsolved problem. Lenovo (and most other laptops) have their bluetooth function which is switched on and off through software. On lenovo, this is done by Fn + F5. As there are still no applications for this function for Windows 7, when I open up Windows Mobility Center, I do not have the option to turn on / off bluetooth, however I think that the issue is that the device never got detected by windows 7 as I do not have a way to turn it on. Can someone suggest how can I force bluetooth to turn on for the first time on Windows 7 maybe it will then appear in windows mobility center?

Lenovo T400 Issues
I have a brand new, 40-hour-old, Lenovo T400 with Windows 7 Home Premium factory-installed. I had my cable company come out to set up the broadband this morning, but they couldn't set up my email because Windows Live Mail is not compatible for configuration with my local cable broadband. They also couldn't install the free anti-virus service that comes with the cable modem service, because it is not compatible with Windows 7. This is my first computer in 5 years (was offline entirely for 4.5 years until last June, when I got my Blackberry, so please forgive my naiivette' [sorry, I know that is mis-spelled; I don't know how to type an "i" with an umlaut; my BB auto-corrects the spelling on that word]), so I have never used Vista before, but have read enough to know that it sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Is there a way to downgrade a factory-installed Windows 7 OS on a Lenovo T400 to XP? In my past 16-hr attempt to get non-web-based email for a $1000+ device that is beginning to seem more like just a really expensive DVD and MP3 player with minimal web abilities, while my $50 Blackberry has email, near-normal desktop web browsing (except Flash Media), text, phone, video, and mp3 player capabilities; I called the cable company (Mediacom) who told me to call Lenovo or Microsoft. Called Lenovo first, and according to the tech I spoke with, the ONLY free non-web-based email client that is compatible with the combination of Windows 7 on a Lenovo T400 with cable broadband, that would allow access to email from more than 1 email address from different email providers, is Thunderbird, HOWEVER, when I went to download it from Mozilla, I kept getting warning messages that Thunderbird is infected with viruses. Does anyone know where I can find a virus-free copy of Thunderbird? Like a mirror site, or maybe from a file-sharing site from someone who downloaded/uploaded it before it was infected? The tech said he had no other solutions and told me to call Microsoft. So, I called Microsoft, who said they could only *tell* me the name of a free non-web-based email client that could consolidate the messages from several email accounts and is Windows 7 and cable broadband compatible and compatible with my T400, for the "bargain price" of $59.95! I felt like I was talking to an organized crime syndicate, 'yeah, we'll give you the information...for a price.' They said since Mom bought it for me for Christmas from Lenovo, that Lenovo is allegedly responsible for any software/OS issues. I called Lenovo back, and they said they are only responsible for the hardware, so between the two companies I apparently have NO technical support for my Windows 7 (in the event I have another problem besides no compatible email client), or any assistance in finding what non-virus-infected email clients are compatible with Windows 7 and cable broadband, are not web-based, and are capable of consolidating messages from more than one email address from different email providers, and store messages in an inbox that can be accessed offline, and would work on T400. Does *anyone* know of a free email client that meets these requirements? Also, if I do have another OS problem, since neither MS, nor Lenovo, are allegedly responsible for the installed OS, does anyone know if there is a contracted 3rd company to deal with that, or some other way of supporting Windows 7? Because it was factory installed at Lenovo, I never received a Windows 7 backup disk or any MS or Windows literature; so if it gets corrupted or something, and neither MS nor Lenovo are responsible for OS or software issues, who would be responsible for fixing OS/software issues? Lenovo said MS was, and the warranty information booklet from Lenovo only covers hardware, specifically exempting pre-installed software: yet MS swears it is Lenovo's responsibility, and I can pay MS techs $60/question to have them tell me again that it is Lenova's responsibility and that MS can't do anything. Someone PLEASE tell me that there is a legitimate 3rd party responsible for supporting my OS 7; that there is some legitimate way to get a backup disk of my OS 7; and that there is either a free, virus-free email client that meets my above reqirements, or that I can somehow downgrade to XP that has a built-in email client.

Hardware Not Detected.
just purchased a Gateway P7902h Laptop on the 30th - it came with 64 bit vista and I decided to upgrade the OS to Windows 7 (64x as well). Ever since the install the laptop has been unable to detect my graphics card, a Geforce GTX 260M. Every time I open a driver installation program (Gateway site only has the drivers for Vista 64x so I tried those, then the Windows 7 64x ones from the Nvidia website.) I get a 'could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your hardware' error. Looking through the Device Manager under Display Adapters, it only has the Standard VGA Graphics Adapter and not the actual card itself. Can anyone help?

Monitor Not Detected
I'm running into this and issue and I can't peg down a cause. I recently updated my Vista HTPC to Windows 7. When booting up I can get into the OS, but the screen goes black shortly after. I have tried two monitors: the Panasonic plasma just goes black and when I try Samsung Syncmaster LCD it looks like it's searching for digital, then analog sources. I have an Nvidia 8400 GS card and I've tried both the 191.07 and 195.62 drivers. I've also let Windows install the drivers after uninstalling the Display Adapter in Device Manager in Safe Mode. When I start in Safe Mode I cannot recreate the issue. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers in Safe Mode.

Hardware Not Detected
I installed the new release candidate, previously I had the first Windows 7 beta version and my video and sound cards were detected fine with no problems, Windows 7 beta even automatically installed the correct drivers for those cards, so the sound was fine and I could have the transparent Windows Aero theme. Now, it seems that this Release Candidate of Windows 7 isn't being able to detect my graphics card, it doesn't know that it's an nVidia 6600 and says that it doesn't support Windows Aero (when it handled that theme fine in the previous version of 7) Thank you so much if you could help me with this, I have no idea what could be causing this other than my computer's BIOS not being compatible with this newer version of 7?

Aero Support On Lenovo X61
I bought the Windows 7 Professional Upgrade and was running the Windows upgrade Advisor. It says your current graphics adapter wont support Windows Aero user interface. If you want to experience the benefits of Aero contact your PC Manufacturer or retailer to see if Upgrade is available. I've attached the graphics properties as a image. What should i do here ? I understand just 128 MB is more than enough for Aero. I dont why im getting this problem ? Should i go ahead and clean install Windows 7 and is there is updated driver for this ?

Freezes On Lenovo Y430 Ideapad
I installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on my Lenovo ideapad Y430 (which came with Vista Home Premium 32-bit). It worked fine for a few hours. However, it now freezes up within 1 minute after I sign on after rebooting. The cursor stops moving, Task Manager won't come up, no disk activity, etc. Booting in Safe Mode works fine, so I'm thinking it's an issue related to a driver or service that doesn't load in Safe Mode. Event Viewer doesn't reveal much of use; only the fact that I needed to power off without shutdown. Vista still runs fine on another partition. Has anyone seen anything like this, or have any ideas on how I can get Windows 7 running again (e.g., by identifying and removing/updating the offending driver/server, if that's what's causing the problem)?

Hard Drive Not Detected

Under Drive Management the drive has the Properties (System, Active, Primary Partition), so I'm wondering if that is the issue. Is there a way to change Drive Properties (if that is the case)?
