Lenovo Fingerprint Reader Software X64

The software is installed and I can register my fingerprints but when I try to check the box:
"Use fingerprint scan instead of password when logging into Windows" it checks and I can click OK.

After that I go back into settings and it is not checked. It won't stay checked no matter what level is used in UAC either. It is like maybe it should prompt me to allow it to change but it never prompts so it doesn't change the settings.

AuthenTec Fingerprint Reader
The latest drivers from AuthenTec have finally got this device working with W7. However, after returning the laptop to life after being in Power Saving mode, this device no longer functions.
Is there still a driver issue or is there it a problem with power saving settings?
The laptop is a Levono 3000 N200.

Drivers Needed For Fingerprint Reader
So I installed Win 7 RC on my new laptop but the fingerprint reader) is not properly recognized with Windows 7 seeing it as a Generic Fingerprint Reader and installing the default driver.

In Device Manager the Hardware IDs for the reader are:

USBVID_1307&PID_1171&REV_0100

USBVID_1307&PID_1171

AuthenTec AES1610 Fingerprint Reader Keeps Disconnecting
I've experienced problems with the Authentec AES1610 fingerprint reader under Windows 7 RC. The device IS working using the default Windows 7 driver. However, it keeps disconnecting, triggering the Hardware disconnected chime. This occurs ever minute or so.

I know for sure it is this device because if I remove it entirely OR if I install the Digital Persona software and attendant driver that are distributed online for my HP tablet (TX2510us), the chiming goes away. There is clearly something about the Windows 7 driver that is "losing grasp" of the device and letting it disconnect from the system over and over.

Driver For UPEK Biometric Device Fingerprint Reader
I've got a Dell XPS M1330 notebook with integrated UPEK biometric fingerprint reader. The device itself is working fine, however the driver setup I've got at the moment isn't ideal.

I can either use the driver provided by Windows Update, and this allows Windows to recognise the biometric device and I can use the Windows fingerprint logion functionality, but this is all. What I really want to do is use UPEKs' Protector Suite QL to enable the use of the biometric device to login to websites etc.

If I use the driver provided by Windows Update, Protector Suite QL doesn't recognise the fingerprint reader installed. If I use the UPEK driver that allows the Protector Suite to work, Windows doesn't find any biometric devices installed - I can't find a suitable driver where both Windows AND Protector Suite QL recognise the biometric device. Has anyone a solution or a similar problem?

I would like Windows to recognise the device to use the Windows biometric login, and Protector Suite QL to recognise he device to use the biometric website login. Alternatively I'd be happy not to use Protector Suite QL at all if there is a way to use the biometric device to login to websites native in Windows.

Authentec AES3500/4000 Series Fingerprint Reader Driver
Does anyone know if the final release of Windows 7 will support the Authentec AES3500/4000 series fingerprint reader? This sensor uses the touch driver (ATTchDrv.sys) rather than the slide driver (ATSwpDrv.sys) used by the AES1600/25xx devices.

Authentec  seems to have provided a WBDI compliant driver for the slide Sensors (ATSwpWDF.sys) but I can't locate an equivalent driver for the touch sensors.

The Authentec download  only supports the swipe drivers as for as I can establish.

The existing touch driver  does load, and is recognised in device manager, but apparently doesn't support the Windows 7 biometrics protocols.

I have a Tatung Tablet PC ( aka Electrovyaa 3000) from 2005 and everything else works great. The new Tip is fantastic.

Any ideas, hints or pointers?  Anyone successfully using an AES3500/4000 sensor under Windows 7?

UPEK Fingerprint Reader In Dell Latitude D620 / Biometric Devices Screen Issues
I installed Windows 7 Beta on a Dell Latitude D620. Laptop has built in UPEK biometric fingerprint reader. Windows 7 did not automatically install a driver. I first installed the driver from Dell.com for Vista 32bit. Device manager shows driver installed and hardware running, but the
fingerprint reader does not show up in the Biometric Devices screen from within the Control Panel.

Next, I went to UPEK's website, and downloaded a driver dated 12/2008. Same scenario, device manager is good, but no device showing up in Biometric Devices in Control Panel. I removed driver and rebooted machine before and after each attempt. Anyone have any ideas?  Or are the existing drivers just simply not supported currently by Windows 7 Beta fully?

Fingerprint Tool Error At Login: Match For Fingerprint Was Not Found
We at PGS are currently running a Windows 7 pilot to test/confirm windows 7 functionality before we start our production rollout of Windows 7. This issues will seriously bring that to a halt or force us to use the working Lenovo Fingerprint software. I would like to avoid the Lenovo software even though it works without this error on a test laptop and use the native Windows 7 biometric tools.

We have a issue on all our Lenovo laptops that prevents us from simple using the fingerprint login despite registration. This only seems to occur when we are not connected to the domain. This occurs on all laptops tested so far and this error is repeatable.

Error at login screen: Windows Security: A match for the fingerprint was not found in the fingerprint store

The Biometrics settings is enabled, TPM and drivers installed and setting set to "allow users to login to Windows using their fingerprints" and "allow users to login to a domain using their fingerprints".

I am level 2 support and am the technical lead for this project.

Has this been reported to Microsoft as a issue yet? I cannot find any google articles and this error.

UPEK Fingerprint Drivers
UPEK's biometric software, Protection Suite 2009, has been updated to work with the Windows 7 RC (Build 7100). However, for those of us who are adventurous enough to try the new leaked build 7127, the installation provides no support, and exits after giving a message that it is only for "builds 7168 to 7100".

Luckily for you guys, I've modified the installation package to support all builds upto 7200, and uploaded it on Rapidshare.

This took me a lotta pain to do, because I've never done anything of the sort, and it took a fair amount of googling and experimentation to find the right tools for the job. So if nothing else, at least give me a little rep if it comes in handy.

Note: This may fail to install the drivers for your fingerprint sensor. If so, just allow Windows Update to download and install the driver for you, and you'll be fine. If the sensor already has a driver installed but the Protection Suite fails to recognize it, goto Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager -> Biometric Devices, and right click on your sensor, and select Uninstall; also select the "Delete device driver" option. Then reboot, and let Windows install the sensor again, and download the driver through Windows Update.

Fingerprint Scanner Troubles
Ok, so I installed the HP drivers for my Authentec AES2501A biometric scanner and everything worked fine and dandy and then the action center said I had a problem with my fingerprint scanner and that I should install the latest drivers from the manufacturer that were specifically designed for Windows 7, not Vista.

I did this, restarted as it said, and my scanner was not detected : ( I logged in after much trouble trying to actually remember my password and tried to use the scanner only to find it wasn't found. I rolled back the driver and everything was back to working, without even restarting!

I'd like to use the latest drivers designed for Windows 7, but they don't work. Is there some trick to this that I'm missing? or do the drivers not work for others too? I saw the one post below mine, but his problem was similar, but kind of the opposite.

All Programs Is Blank On Win7 X64 (upgrade From Vista Premium X64)
I installed Windows 7 Beta x64 as an in-place upgrade over Vista x64 Premium Service Pack 1. There's one minor hiccup in the UI post-upgrade: when I go to the Start Menu and click on "All Programs", nothing at all is displayed.

Ironically, this hasn't been a major impediment for me because of how I work. I usually get to what I need through QuickLaunch icons (which came through fine), application launch via hotkeys, finding items in Recent Items, or using the Control Panel. All of those work fine.

If I right-click on All Programs, I can successfully open my personal start menu folder nested under my AppData, or the All Users menu folder under the root ProgramData folder. I just don't get a vertical list of items as expected.

Anyone have any ideas? I'm guessing this is probably due to a glitch during the migration process, and since the menu appears very similar to Vista's this may be something that happens there as well.

EDIT: This isn't the problem documented in MSKB 939041 or 932404. Actual paths to the folders containing the items are:

C:Users<name>AppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms
C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms

Also note that the menu plainly does "update". I get the <Back displayed after clicking "All Programs".

Upgrade XP Prof X64 English To Win7 Ultimate X64 Dutch
Ok, i'm dazzled by the many websites with each a different opinion, upgrade paths, and so. It took me hours of reading and clicking. I'm nearly fed up. So finally made it to this forum. With my question:

Is it possible to legally upgrade from XP professional X64 English (OEM) to Windows 7 Ultimate X64 Dutch? Retail or OEM needed?

BTW: Windows 7 Professional X64 Dutch would be a good alternative.

It's unclear to me if it' s allowed to switch from an English OS to a dutch OS. Some say any new OS MUST be the same language as the old one. But is this also appliable for the Ultimate version, since it can switch to other languages after install?

I will be doing a clean install.

Further on i am struggling with the ' professional' to ' ultimate' switch. In some cases that path would not be allowed, others say it is allowed.

What we'd need is a wizard containing all the different choices and possiblilities. Simply choose the old OS from a drop down menu and the new OS, and it would tell you YES thats possible or NO, impossible. And under what conditions. Would draw a lot of site visitors.

Just my 2 cents.

File Version Error On Installing From Vista Home Premium X64 To Win 7 X64
I get this error message when I try to install Windows 7 x64 on my Vista Home Premium x64 HP9340F machine from within Vista x64:The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running.  Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.

I can install the x32 version of Windows 7 fine, but I need to use drivers from my x64 Vista ie. IR Transceiver for Windows Media center.  I would imagine the Vista x64 drivers might work with the x64 Windows 7 where they do not work with the x32 Windows 7.

I'm not sure I'm making sense to anyone but me, sorry.  If you have any ideas drop me a bone.  I didn't try the Windows 7 x64 install from a boot, maybe that would have worked?

Build 7057 X64 Upgrade From 7048 X64 Fails ?
Can someone confirm that it's a general problem or have I just got a bad D/L.

If I try and UPGRADE from Windows 7 build 7048 X-64 to Build 7057 X-64 it starts OK but after a while (during the expanding files stage) I get error -- some necessary files for installation cannot be copied ??

Clean install seem to wok.

HA1 and checksums of my iso seem correct.

Actually upgrading from a beta to another beta is not a goood idea anyway but I want to make sure that I haven't got a bad D/L before I try an upgrade from a Vista installation.

Sign In Problem With Fingerprint Scanner
Well when I either turn on my computer or awake it from sleep or hibernation, i would sometimes encounter a problem. The problem being that ot does not always give me an option to sign in with my fingerprint scanner. It would show my user profile and an area to enter my password. It does not show "other credentials" and running my finger does not do anything.

I know when it is working when it gives me other credentials, then i can either just scan my finger or click it, select scan my finger, and scan it again. Why do the longer way, i would not know. Nevertheless, this is not the case. This is quite an inconvenience.

Upgrade From Home Premium X64 To X64 Ultimate
I have a new laptop coming and its only going to have Win7 x64 Home premium installed on it. I do have an MSDN sub and in fact not too long ago received MSDN disc's for Win 7 Enterprise and Ultimate as part of my subscription. I already spoke with HP and was told I would want to put Ultimate on before I install any other software on the new laptop and am wondering as to the best way to do this.

Can I just go to my MSDN account get a new key and using the DVD's I received simply do an upgrade to the current install or will I need to do a full format and then install Win 7 x64 Ultimate?

Vista X64 To Win 7 X64 Upgrade Fails
I have tried upgrading my Vista Hope Premium X64 system to Windows 7 Home Premium X64 system many times in the past few days and I am having a problem with the process aborting. I am running an Acer Aspire x1200 with 4GB of ram. System is running fine on Vista but I wanted to upgrade my home network with Windows 7 for ease of use.

I have run the Upgrade Advisor and the only thing it flags is the NVIDIA nForce System Management Controller with a status of Unknown and "We don't have compatibility information about this device". I have checked and the driver is up to date.

When I run the migration, I run in an update mode. It runs for about 4 hours. When it gets to the "Transferring files, settings, and programs (62%)" point, it sits there for about an hour while it moves thousands of Sun cache files. This appears to finish normally. I then get a screen that says "Setup will continue after restarting your computer".

I then get the Windows Logo screen. The next screen says "Setup is starting services". Next, the process continues with the "Transferring files, settings, and programs" at the (63%) point which seems to indicate that things are going forward.

Next comes the BSOD. "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. The technical information on the screen:

*** STOP: 0x0000003B (0x00000000C000001D, 0xFFFFF88006277D30, 0xFFFFF880054C5EC0, 0x0000000000000000) .

It then states that it is collecting data for a crash dump. At this point, to MS credit, the process rolls back to my Vista system and I am able to have my system back in an operational manner.

I have disconnected all of my USB devices except for my wireless mouse. I ran scans to get rid of any spybots and ad-bots before I started the migration. I turned my McAfee security software off before starting the migration. I have the latest Vista updates applied. All of my other software is up to date.
