Language Switching Details For Windows 7
Is Language Switching on the fly or do you have to reboot?Â
Are all components of the OS in the selected foreign language, including help screens, applets, error messages, and connections to the internet "suggested" by the OS such as updates from Microsoft Update in the foreign language?.
Are third party software updates, such as Adobe Reader, running in the foreign language all done in dialog boxes running the foreign language?   Â
I can't really find a good site that answers all the language questions I see all over the internet. Where can I get all the details on exactly what is Language Switching.Â

Upgrade Vista Ultimate To Windows 7 - OS Language
My Notebook comes from the U.S. with Vista Ultimate. Now I want to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate here in Europe. I heard that an in-place upgrade to Windows 7 is only possible within the same language (e.g. EN-US). Now I worry that I'll buy the wrong Win 7 version. I know that my current Vista Ultimate is English, but how to find out which one (could be British as well)? Ist there a native OS language at all besides the language I set in the "regional and language options" in the control panel? And is this important at all? As far as I know Windows 7 Ultimate supports 35 languages, so does it matter at all as long as I accept to install Win 7 in the same language like my Vista is?

Process / Details On Upgrade Install From RC To RTM
I've been hunting around the forums here for about 35 minutes, and I'm not finding what I'm looking for. If it's up somewhere, would someone be so awesomely kind as to point me to it? If it's not, can someone educate me on what's needed? What I'm seeking, is the details on just what I need to do to upgrade my install of Win 7 RC build (7100) to the RTM release, with an in-place upgrade. I'd really prefer not to muss with another delete and reformat and reinstall of everything.

Explorer Corrupt DVR-MS Files When Changing Details Via Right Clicking
I use an Onair GT to record QAM cable and use VideoRedo to convert the TS files to DVR-MS so I can watch them in Media Center. I will usually fill in the metadata for the file (Channel number, Cast, HDTV, and station name and call signs) by right clicking the file in Windows Explorer and going to the details tab to make changes. With Windows 7 if I do this the file becomes corrupted and I can't view it or even load it in Media Center. If I leave that information alone the file plays perfectly. Also if I load the file in VideoRedo before making any metadata changes it works flawlessly, but if I change the metadata and then load it into VideoRedo the program is unable to seek through the file and I get an error trying to convert it. This tells me that making the changes to the DVR-MS metadata using Windows Explorer is corrupting the file some how. Does anyone know of a work around for this, and how I might be able to bring this to Microsoft attention so that a possible fix could be put out for the Retail Version of Win 7?

Switching Monitors
Since I am a musician, I must practice at home and with the modern hardware it became impossible to have total silence in the room, specially a small one. Tried everything an after all, my solution was radical but very effective: My cpu is in my living room with my LCD TV and a keyboard and mouse and, after drilling a wall, I have a LCD monitor, keyboard, mouse, USB hub and a USB CDRom in my studio. This is perfect because I have total silence to practice and a Home Theater PC in the living room. Under windows XP using the NView software I was able to create a hotkeys combination(ctrl+y) that allowed me to switch monitors without any confirmations, right clicks or dropdown menus. Just click those two keys together and that's it. Now, not even a MultiDisplay Wizard is available. Sorry for writing so much, but here is the question: How can I switch monitors like I use to do? Is it possible to create a shortcut or hot key or, in a worse case, use the usual way in windows seven but in a way that a confirmation is not required? When I change resolution asking to show only in one of the screens I must run to the other room the confirm the change. This is the main reason I did not install Vista, but I hope it will be a solution in Windows 7.

Switching From OS X To Win7
Recently, my Quad G5 mac fried (power pc chipset) and I'm building a new Windows 7 system. I'm trying to figure out the best and fastest way to move all the data from my OS X drives (1 500 gb with files/apps, 1 1 tb with files, 1 external 1 tb with files) on to newly formatted Windows 7 drives. Furthermore, I would like to install Win 7 on the 500 gb. My initial thought is to boot the new, fresh system from a Linux disk and move all the files within Linux. Something like this: In Linux: 1. Move all the files I want to keep from the 500gb on to the 1tb, then format the 500 gb for Win 7. 2. Move all files from old 1tb to new, clean 1 tb 3. Format old 1 tb At this point, I should be ready to install Win 7 on the 500gb, and have a properly formatted 1 tb with my old files and a clean, formatted 1 tb. I have no experience with Linux, but it is my understanding that I can mount any/all disks in Linux in order to do the file management and transfer that I need to do. A few last thoughts...the Mac was the only only I had owned since my Apple IIc so I'm not a stranger to Windows by any means. That is to say, I'm not an overly ignorant mac user jumping in over his head. However, I have not used Windows 7 at all. So...any thoughts? 1. Can Linux do what I think it can? 2. Is this a good idea for a workflow? 3. Do I even need Linux to do this?

Switching To X64
OK for the first time since the early Win XP x64, I'm thinking about switching to a 64bit windows version. Got a lot of questions though. I've been using 64bit OSs other the Windows and they all seem to have various problems with drivers and most of all running 32bit programs. How does it all look on Windows? i.e. i'm using Adobe Master collection cs4 and am wondering if it will work with windows x64... what about antiviruses, Flash etc? Ps. Is anyone using the x64 on acer aspire 69xx series? If everything running OK?

Application Switching
So I have windows 7 RC1 installed. Generally I never do task/application switching using windows but I recently installed a wacom pen tablet and one of the shortcut keys on the tablet was programmed to switch to various applications... BUT IT DID IT IN A WAY I HAVE NOT FOUND IN Windows 7 YET! Usually Alt+Tab gives you the generic windows task switcher that shows all the icons of the various apps you have open. But the pen tablet used an app switcher that did this.. http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/49679/win7application.png Its a screenshot of every open window you have open and you can cycle through them til you get to the one you want. Any idea what the shortcut keys are to access this application switcher?

Switching From 32 To 64 Bit Version
I bought the retail upgrade version of Windows 7 for installation over Vista Home Basic on a Lenovo laptop with 4 gigs of installed RAM. Unfortunately, I installed the 32-bit version, believing that surely Windows 7 would USE all of the installed memory. However, when I open the Control Panel and look at the installed memory, I see the message "(2.96 GB usable)". I have since learned that I need the 64 bit version of Windows 7 to utilize all of my laptop's memory. If I reinstall Windows 7 on this laptop and replace the 32-bit version with the 64-bit version, can I use the original Windows 7 activation key code?

I Keep Getting BSOD When Switching Users
I have been running Window 7 RC for a while now and it has been very stable except when switching users. It usually crashes a short while after switching users. Today it crashed just after my wife downloaded her email in Windows Live Mail. I have 6 minidumps so far from switching users. If either one of us uses it exclusively it will run quite happily for ages, however it isn't always the first time the second user logs in that it crashes, sometimes it takes a few logins before it crashes.  Neither of us is running many applications. I had firefox and windows explorer windows open the last time and my wife had windows live mail.

Switching Users Causes Not Enough Resources
I have Windows 7 on a machine at home that the whole family uses. I've noticed that when i leave some applications running (ie...IE, Firefox, Mail, ect...) and someone else wants to login to do something they get the error message "Not Enough Resources to login". So i will then have to log back in as me and close everything i left open so they can login. There is no domain obviously since the windows fast switch user is being used. Has anyone else had this issue or no how to resolve it?

Switching Display Identity
I finally put Win7 7077 x64 on a real test, out of virtual machines and the only problem I ran into so far is about the display. I have my PC hooked up to a Monitor and an HDTV in another room. The problem is I have no way of switching the display numbers so when booting the system everything is on the HDTV which is labeled as "1" and not on my monitor which is now labeled as "2".When Windows finishes starting up and shows the fully loaded desktop I get the picture on my monitor since i set it to "Show desktop only on 2" or Extend with #2 as the main display, but still I can't see anything on it during boot up,which is a problem to me. I have a GeForce9600GT card and in the NVCP I did set things up right. My monitor is #1 and the HDTV is #2 but it really doesn't help with anything during boot up. I see it's not a problem with drivers but with the settings which I don't see an option for.I also tried uninstalling, reinstalling, disabling the displays, switching the ports they are plugged into, nothing helps. As soon as I plug the HDTV back in it's #1 ,the monitor becomes #2 and I can go F myself I even thought maybe it's because the monitor is ran through a DVI-to-VGA adapter, and windows acts like it's l33t and boots from the "better" connection....I don't know. I was using Vista x64 SP1 up until now and everything was fine (Monitor-1 , HDTV-2).Both displays are connected to the DVI ports of the graphic card. The monitor through a DVI-VGA adapter and the HDTV by a DVI-HDMI cable. I was searching for tricks like some registry values to change or any other normal way to change the display numbers but I didn't find anything. Why couldn't they add a switch identity button? In short:Boot up process (and with it the bios too) is shown on the HDTV which I don't want, but there is no way to change the display identities so I could fix it. Well, maybe someone knows a solution for this but my hopes aren't high since I never saw any real solution for other OS's either

Display Switching Shortcut ?
I use my computer as a sometime HTPC. I have display 1 as my monitor in the computer room and I have display 2 as my 42" LCD in the other room. I ran a 30 ft hdmi cable in there, as well as a connection to the spdif. Now, to switch from monitor to tv I have to: Click on the speaker icon. Select spdif Select 'set as default. Right click on the desktop Resolution (or display settings or whatever) select display 2 click OK Run into the next room and click OK in 15 seconds or however long it gives me. I was wondering, outside of using Ultramon, is there any quicker way to do the above. A shortcut or the possibility of building a macro or something?

Firefox 3.5 Switching Tabs
In previous versions, you could give focus to a single tab (like clicking on it) and then use the arrow keys to toggle between tabs. I can't do that in 3.5, did they take that out or did they just change the way it's done?

Quick Audio Switching
I have my Realtek Audio device connected to my home theater receiver through s/pdf and to my monitor through the green jack on the back of the pc. When I am surfing the forums or what not, I have sound set to analog through my monitor. When I switch to Media Center, My output is moved to the s/pdf by right clicking the little speaker and selecting playback devices, and changng my default device, then starting Media Center. However, sometimes. I forget to do this and I have to close Media Center and make the switch. Question is this. Is there a hot key or software appy that can do this for me when I launch Media Center? Perhaps a Batch file, witch I have no experience with.?

Screen Blacks Out When Switching Users
I absolutely hate it when 7 and Vista black out the screen when switching users. It says "Welcome" for a a split second, and then the screen blacks out for several seconds, at least. I switched users several times to see what it was like. It was a horrible experience; I hated waiting for the screen to turn back on again. On XP, when you switch users, you are taken directly to the desktop. No fancy effects. That's what I like. Actual Fast User switching. Can there at least be an option?

KVM Switch + Monitor Switching
I used to use XP exclusively and I would use a KVM w/ dual monitors to switch between a dual desktop and single desktop. Worked fine until I upgraded one box to Windows 7. Now when I switch from my new dual monitor setup (via kvm) to my old xp single monitor box, Windows does 1 of 2 random things: throws my desktop to my 2nd monitor or resizes my second monitor w/o throwing my desktop over to it. The worst part of this problem is that when it randomly throws my desktop to my 2nd monitor and I switch back to my dual monitor box. It LEAVES my desktop on the 2nd monitor and the first monitor is blank. I have to go through the windows menus and re-detect all monitors to get my 1st monitor back. Not only that but because of all this monitor switching, all my apps have to be moved back to where they were originally. This is making work via KVM switch nearly impossible. I've upgraded to the latest Nvidia drivers which are dated in mid-July. Video Card: Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 This is what I'd prefer: Just leave my 2nd monitor alone, don't throw my desktop to it, don't resize it, don't move any application windows I have open in it. Just leave it be like it used to function in XP.

Will Win 7 Will Delete Any Of My Files Before I Consider Switching To It ?
Like most unfortunate people, I'm stuck with Vista, and I really liked the way that Windows 7 looked, but I'm afraid of losing all of my information (again). Once my old computer crashed, I lost nearly 1000 songs, a lot of documents and pictures, and it really depressed me. Now, I'm wondering that if I upgrade from Vista to Windows 7, if I will have this same problem and my files deleted. I have a Dell Studio 540 with an IntelCore Quad CPU Q8200 Processor that runs at 2.33GHz. It's a 64-bit Operating System, and has 6.00GB of RAM. Also, I have the Service Pack 1 version of Vista. I'd just like to know if any of my information will be deleted to way the pros and cons of this decision.
