Keep Changing Language Into Portuguese
I have just purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium installed on it. I chose Traditional Chinese as the system language when I activated the Windows.

Everything went smoothly until I shut down and restart the machine. The system automatically update itself and install Portuguese as the default language. I can't do anything about this but recover the system and so keep losing the softwares or other updates that I have installed.

the issues im having are

when i right click desktop and press resoloution or personlize im getting error message ___no such interface is supported___

when i add a dock (rocket dock or nexus) im getting similar error when i add links to dock

im unable to custimize taskbar in bottom right and thus not being able to remove unwanted icons on view

the system properties link isnt working on link when i open my computer

and windows experience isnt working either for the last three problems i click the link but nothing happens

ive trying doing a repair install but get error message saying icant do it on this operating system..i suspect this happens because i installed 7 first then xp and it was booting straight into xp so i used easy bcd to give me an option to boot into either operating systems. ..but ive recently deleted xp but my computer could still think its xp but thats only i guess, i could be wrong

is there anyway to fix these errors im experiencing. also if there no soloution to these errors ,if i reinstalled using upgrade would i keep all my games and folders.

Touch Screen Interface
I thought I would give windows 7 a go about a week ago on my Home system and loved it so much I've decided to install on my "carpc" that's fitted in my Toyota Hilux

The install seemed to go well just like it did on my Home system, with even the touch screen being found, only problem I could not get it to Calibrate very precise.

One thing I noticed right away was Windows 7 seems to have a built in Touch Screen interface that only shows the options to when it knows a Touch screen is present, for example you can scroll about in word docs, or internet explorer just by placing your finger anywhere on the screen rather than the little bar on the right you normally have to use which can be hard on a 7" touch screen.

There is a better on screen keyboard that pops out when needed if using the touch screen, also the cursor changes to a small dot rather than a mouse cursor, but changes back as soon as you move the mouse. I'm sure there are other features I not had chance to find yet.

My only problem now is due to me not being able to calibrate the screen as good as normal I decided to install the Software/drivers from the screen manufacture, I used the Vista version which worked well, and now the screen is calibrated perfectly.

The problem is now windows 7 has taken away all the touch screen options in the control panel, plus all the above features I said no longer happen

Any idea how I can get them back while still maintaining my manufactures driver/software?

Printer Interface - Screen Freeze
I have been doing a lot of activity with printers and have notice two issues.
       1. When I try to remove a printer my screen freezes and my mouse and keyboard go inactive.  I have to use a hard powerdown (holding down the on off button) to recover.  This happens repeatably.
       2.  When I add a printer, I do not get a new Icon.  I have to right click the existing printer icon and choose printer properties. At that time, any printers I have install show.

Anyone had these problems?

No Such Interface Supported (0x80004002) Error
I am encountering an error which prevents me from using Windows 7 Backup / Create a System Image. When I click on those options I get the following error message: "The backup application could not start due to an internal error: No such interface supported (0x80004002)."

Dialog below pops up: I checked the backup service as well as the shadow copy service and both are running, I also set them to automatically start. However this problem still persists. Note that I could also write/save files to all my hard drives. This is a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 from MSDN.

IE 8, Error Message, No Such Interface Supported
I installed Windows 7, Evaluation Copy, Build 7100, about 2 weeks ago. I installed the upgrade from Vista. I was using IE 8 with Vista for several months.

For several days I used IE 8 on 7 without a hitch. Suddenly, I began receiving an error message on certain sites, "no such interface supported", when I attempted to go to a next function on a website, namely a function that would open a new window via java script.

Based upon various postings, including on MS forums, I reset IE 8 (although was unable to do so except through the wizard in MS Fixit), rebooted, etc. Did this a couple of times. But, have been unable to get rid of the problem.

I also tried replacing various .dll files; however, the attempts were unsuccessful.

Based upon what I have read, this has been an intermitent problem with IE all the way back to at least IE 5. However, I have been unable to find any fixes on MS; and none on forums that seem to work for me.

In the meantime, Firefox works without a hitch. So does W-7 (in fact I love it), except for this issue.

Interface Error When Using A U3 Flash Drive
I've been using Windows 7 64bit for maybe a month now and have my old Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit on a separate partition. I've have been using a U3 Smart Drive to run programs from it such as Firefox Web Browser and Thunderbird Email so I don't have to sync the programs across two operating systems like worrying about what email is saved where or what bookmark was saved on what OS.

Recently I've noticed that if I leave the flash drive in the computer and restart that my screen "flickers", its hard to describe. Lets say your looking down a drop down list of selecting what time zone your in or something like that. It will close again after a few seconds and the active window will "flicker" just like you clicked your mouse off on a different part of the screen and this happens again and again every few seconds.

I've tried many things to try and fix this and finally found out that if i remove my flash drive it stops. I can't think of a better way to describe this and I'm sorry for the poor detail. I just thought I'd see if anyone else has this problem.

Black Screen User Interface
I have seen a few Topics about this issue but not sure if they are actually the same.

This happens a few times on my computer. After logging off, and on again (the welcome screen), the screen goes black. Now if this was a driver problem, i would not be able to log off and using a different user, get to the desktop.

So that one user that gets corrupted somehow, i can press CTRL-ALT-DELETE and get to the windows menu to be able to logg off, change user or start task manager, the task manager would not work, or maybe it does, but the screen is black, so I have no idea.

So, the only way I found to resolve this is to create a new user and use it, copying all the files from one profiles to that new one, etc... ending up by deleting the corrupted profile.

That solution is workable for a few months until the profile gets corrupted again and then I get a brand new black screen desktop.

Every solution I found so far talks about the computer not booting up and getting a black screen, but no solution was actually talking about the current user beeing corrupted only. This is the reason for that post, and I would love to hear a reason why the current profile gets corrupted at some point in time.

Ok, I'm using Windows7 Ultimate 64bit with 8Gb of memory, a double Quad Core CPU, a GT9600 video card, a boot disk using Mirroring on 2-500Gb disk, and a Raid adaptor that connects to Two Sata II Raid arrays using raid 5, one with 7-500Gb disks, and the second with 3-1TB disks, not the king of computer having a hardware problem.

So the real question is, why does the current profile gets corrupted, and how to fix this, the easy way?

The Ribbon Interface Will Be In ALL Programs That Run On Win7
It's called the Scenic Ribbon and you can already see it in Paint, Wordpad and Movie Maker.

The Ribbon originated in Office 2007 and has been improved even more in Office 2010.

Untill now it has only been a part of Office however starting with Windows 7 the Ribbon will be a part of the Operating System. That means any programmer will be able to add the ribbon to his program instead of the current menu bar.

Microsoft envisions a future where all programs running on Windows will have a ribbon instead of the menu bar.

I did not get the opportunity to attempt to install the driver using any other compatibility mode. Has anybody else experimented with this interface?

No Such Interface Supported, Explorer.exe Error
Well after 2 days of playing with windows 7, I went back to Vista.  I had multiple problems with win7.  IE8 won't download files, pc would not shut down completely, and the last straw "No such interface supported" Explore.exe error.  I am an experienced pc user and IT Professional and was trying to tweak Win7 to my liking, but after the interface error, I couldn't open explorer or most applications.

I searched and searched for a fix, but none was found.  Sadly I have to give Win7 two thumbs down.  The GUI was a bit awkward to start, but responsive.  After a few tweaks, quick launch bar and start menu basically, I found it to be user friendly and intuitive to start out.  Once I delved deeper into the OS and tried to customize it (no hacks), I became less and less enamored with the new OS.

Although a fine improvement to Vista, there are still bugs (IE8 and interface) that will undoubtedly affect casual users as well as the more sever bugs that will affect experienced users that customize their OS.  I just don't understand how Microsoft could release a new OS that is fine out of the box, but fails miserably once a user attempts to customize it.

Have they not learned their lesson with the Vista release??  Vista is a pretty stable OS despite being a resource hog.  With updates and greater compatibility, due to software designers adapting to the new architecture, Vista is a pretty good OS.  I have occasional crashes or BSOD due mainly to tweaking or application incompatibility, but are easily recoverable via disk imaging.

Windows 7 is so new and apparently prone to major issues, that imaging a workable state and restoring may be a routine occurrence which may take a lot of time and effort especially for an average user.  I am thoroughly disappointed with the current offerings.  Did MS rush to release Windows 7?  Who was testing?  Real world users or robots?  What looked promising and functional, will only end up being a huge headache for any user.

Advice:  Stick with you current OS.  XP or Vista are more stable and aren't that different from Windows 7.  Don't rush to get the newest OS, rather wait until it matures a bit and the price comes down.  Luckily I had an MSDN account and didn't pay for 7..

32-bit ProgDVB Compatibility Issue / Program Interface Is Broken
The ProgDVB (www.progdvb.com) is a well-known DVB program (latest version 6.03.01) for satellite TV and radio reception.

But the 32-bit version has compatibility issue with the lastest Windows 7 (both 32-bit and 64-bit), the program can install correctly, but after it starts up, the interface looks abnormal. All the toolbar and status bar show red X for controls.

I tried the 64-bit ProgDVB, the interface is perfect okay. I ever asked the program author, he said, the 32-bit version and the 64-bit version is both built on .NET Framework 2.0, and both versions worked very well on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows Vista. So it's the Window 7 issue.

Please take a look at this incompatibility issue.

USB To SATA Interface Detected But Not The SATA Drive Attached To It
Install Windows7 RC without any problems.  It detected all hardware and applications without error.  Minor only with ASUS P5Q pc probe.  PC itself running great. Problem is as follows. If I plug an external usb drive into a port it sees and recognises the drive allowing access.

If I plug and external Sata drive in via a USB to SATA converter it sees the converter but does not see the drive attached to it.  Worked Fine in VISTA.  I changed the drive to another.  It was not seen either.  The USB to SATA internface shows no errors.
