Can anyone advise as to the best method of installing multiple language versions of xpmode onto a single machine.

Program Files In Local Language Versions
Switching over from a Swedish language XP system I'm utterly frustrated with Windows 7 (Ultimate + Sedish language pack). The localized version of both sytems replaces the "Program Files" folder with a "Program" folder. In XP that causes no trouble, 95% of all applications happily install themselves into "Program" and run ok there, the few exeptions insist on creating a "Program files" folder but then run happily there. Not so in Win 7. On the system disk there is a "Program" folder and at least some programs install themselves there, and run ok there. But, if you create a shortcut to a program the shortcut is pointing at C:Program files and changing it to C:Program.. causes an error message when trying to activate the program. This becomes rather confusing when you yourself have to create shortcut addresses. Some programs have exactly the opposite problem, for example WinZip is on one hand unable to extract a zip file to C:Program files as it cannot find the folder (altough explorer clearly sees such a folder) and on the other hand creates a new, extra, C:Program folder if told to extract to that folder. So then there are two "Program" folders, one pointed at by %ProgramFiles% and another one not pointed at! Some other programs have the same kind of problems. What is going on here? Have I missed some step in the language pack installation or has MS managed to break a system that worked perfectly well in XP for years? Has anyone had similiar problems with other language packs?

Thai Language Support In XP Mode
The XP mode asked for the XP service pack 3 disk. So I did. It installed it, but then I don't see the Thai language as installed. So I'm wondering if there's like a download I can do instead? In my XP sp3 computer I know it has thai in there but for the XP mode virtualization it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas what I did wrong?Or is it just not supported in the XP mode?

l starting installing 2 applications at once today,and my system some how froze up.This has done this several times/has anyone else has this problem with installing more than 1 application at a time? installing 1 at a time is okay not 2 or 3

Win XP Mode - 1 VM For Multiple Users
I have multiple users that use one machine (Windows 7 Professionl x64), which in turn they need to run an old application that will only run in Windows XP mode. However, I have noticed that you have to create a machine for each individual user, as far as I can tell. I basically want to make one virtual application that ALL users can use without having to create a VM for each user. Is this possible or have I overlooked something where you don't need to create a vm for each users?Â

No Multiple Display After Installing Win 7
I have a ACER Aspire 2920Z Laptop which has the graphics card - Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset. I recently performed fresh install of Windows 7 on this Laptop. The OS automatically downloaded and installed all the drivers. However after installation, now I am unable to connect to my TV using S-video. When i connect the s-video, nothing happens. The application does not even detect the connection. On launching the Intel Graphics application - under Display Devices, it shows the Operating Mode as Single Display. Please refer the attachment. Before upgrading to Windows 7, it used to show Multiple displays. Have also attached the Dxdaig information. Can somebody help with getting the S-video display to work.

Win7 Virtual XP Mode - Multiple Monitors
Will the Win7 Virtual XP mode be able to span multiple monitors? So far, I have been able to use the Virtual XP (seamless) on one monitor. I can drag the borders to get the VPC window to extend partway into the second monitor. I can maximize the Virtual XP session to be full screen -- on one monitor. Is there a way to get the session to maximize to two (or more) monitors? How about within Virtual XP Application mode? I have an XP-only application that can launch multiple sessions of itself to the Win7 desktop, but I cannot drag either window off of the primary display monitor. Is there a way to allow the XP-only application to have full access to the Win7 desktop on any monitor, not just the primary monitor?

Misalignment Of Multiple Screens In Virtual XP Mode
I am working in Windows 7 in the virtual XP mode to run Photoshop CS2 and Autocad 2004. I have a three screen setup which behaves normally in the standard Windows 7 host mode. In the Virtual Machine XP mode, however, when I transfer windows from the center window to the right screen, the image cuts off about a third of the screen from the right edge, showing the window in only 2/3 of the screen. The left screen acts normally. What can I do to correct this?

Multiple Monitor Issues In Clone Mode
OK, here is the setup. Running Windows Vista I have a PC in the garage for my business with a HD 24" monitor. Directly above upstairs is a HD 46" monitor which is connected to the PC too. Connected to a Display card w/ two outs. I have been using my PC to watch HD movies upstairs. I have a wireless mouse upstairs to control the movie after I go up stairs. I have been doing this for a long time using Windows Vista. I should add that I have the display set to Clone Mode, and ALL is Good !! Now comes Windows 7 same setup, but now what is happening is driving me nuts, if I have Just one monitor plugged in (downstairs} the monitor is completely filled, but If I plug in the upstairs monitor the main monitor down stairs will resize with a letter box look, with a one inch black strip top and bottom. and the monitor upstais also resizes smaller. but if I change to say Extend these displays, it all looks good on both monitors, EXCEPT I loose control of the desktop which I need on both monitors. I have tried using the ATI CCC but it's More confusing than the Windows features. with NO help. I keep hoping the next version of W7 will be the answer. Like I said W Vista all worked Sweet. I would appreciate any help thanks Mark the display card is a ATI 2600 PRO with lots of memory and a fast q/4 processor.

Installing Error With Monitor Recommand Mode
I'm trying to install Win7 RC problem is when it loads my monitor gives me an error that says Recommand mode 1280x1024. My screen goes black but I am sure windows is on. I am still able to log on to my other XP partition. Also I cannot go into safe mode, because it says I cannot install windows 7 in safe mode. I have also tried booting into low video resolution 640x480. What are my options?

Unable To Access DFS On Domain Computer After Installing Win XP Mode
After installing Windows XP Mode on a domain based computer the DFS is no longer accessible. When trying to access the DFS, Windows 7 O/S reports back:Logon Failure: The Target Is Incorrect.This problem is within the Windows 7 O/S and not the virtual environment. After uninstalling the Windows XP Mode it works once again. I also have the Windows Virtual PC module installed. This does not cause any issues.The problem occurs on both Professional and Ultimate X64 versions.

Dynamics GP Versions 8.5 Compatibility
I know that Microsoft has not tested the compatibility of older versions of GP with Windows 7, but has anyone else done any testing? Does anyone know what will or will not work? For example, we have GP 6 and when running it with Office 2007, it does not allow for exporting - not to Excel, Word, or even a text file. If this is a problem with the app system, then I suspect there will be many other issues with the operating system. Can anyone confirm or advise?

Which Keys Activate What Versions ?
I was hoping for a little clarification as to which keys will activate which versions.I was going to install the E version although I live in the USA.I then came across a list of activation responses while digging around Windows 7 files.The one that caught my eye was: "The activation server determined the specified product key has been blocked for this geographic location" Will U.S. retail keys be able to activate E versions? Will OEM Certs be bound by geographical location? Or will the above restriction only be applied to Starter,Enterprise editions?

Multiple Resolutions On Multiple Displays
I'm having a bit of trouble trying to get two monitors, a small 1024x768 LCD, and a 46" 1920x1080 TV, to display the same wallpaper at different resolutions. My graphics card is older, a Nvidia Quadro FX 1700, but it is perfectly capable of driving both displays at the same time. It's a minor annoyance, but I'd like to get it working if it's possible.

Dynamic Volumes - What Versions Support Them ?
I'm amazed that I could not find an answer for this after hours of searching the usual suspects. LoL I have Win7 Home Premium ordered for 4 PCs but need to have dynamic volumes. I can't find out what versions of Windows 7 support dynamic volumes anywhere. Our PCs are all XP Pro on a home network. And the budget says no to Win7 if I have to pay for Pro just so I can keep all my videos on one volume. If MS didn't include dynamic volumes in Home premium I think they made a mistake because even TB+ hard drives are puny for storing large video collections. I know about libraries but am not ready to risk everything on them as I roll out the upgrades over time.

How To Get FOUR Versions Of Win7 X64 From One DVD ?
I have learned through some investigation that is is possible to get all FOUR versions of Windows 7 x64 OS from ONE DVD! Here's how to do it: 1. Find a copy of PowerISO and install it on your computer. 2. Download a copy of any Windows 7 x64 OS ISO image or use the original DVD from Microsoft to make an ISO image with PowerISO to your hard drive. 3. Open up PowerISO and use the "Open" option on the menu bar to open up the ISO image file you saved. 4. Browse to the "sources" folder and then find the "ei.cfg" file. Right-click on it and delete it. (If you want to, you can open this file with NOTEPAD and see that all it does is specify which version of Windows 7 to auto install.) 5. Then use the "Save" option in PowerISO and save to the original ISO image. 6. Burn this "altered" ISO image to a DVD at 4X speed using PowerISO or ImgBurn. 7. Now when you use this DVD to install the Windows 7 OS, you'll see in the "Install" window a list of FOUR options to install. They are as follows: A. Home Basic x64 B. Home Premium x64 C. Professional x64 D. Ultimate x64 Pretty cool, huh? You will still need a GENUINE MS PRODUCT KEY to activate the install though. But we all know that everyone here has that already... right? These are full and genuine installs, they will update and pass the MS Validation Check also. Now you can also do the same with the x86 ISO image too. (32bit version) Here's what you'll get with changing that ISO: A. Home Starter x86 B. Home Basic x86 C. Home Premium x86 D. Professional x86 E. Ultimate x86 I hope y'all will enjoy this little tutorial of mine. Believe me, it works! NOTE: If you don't have PowerISO, this will also work with UltraISO too! So, basically what Microsoft has done is use one install DVD for all the different versions of the OS and then use the "ei.cfg" file to lock the install to whatever version is paid for.

Shared Printer With Different Windows Versions
Have 3 PCs: One with xp, one with vista and one with 7 Have connected a printer to the Windows 7 computer that is shared. Network and sharing files works fine otherwise. (xp and vista is 32 bit, and Windows 7 is 64bit) The problem is that I can't use printer from xp and vista machine. When I try to connect to the shared printer I get message that the driver can not be used. why it tries to load the driver from the Windows 7 computer when it has a driver locally that it has used before.? Previously, this printer was conected to xp machine and shared on home network so the vista machine also was able to print to it. Why can't they use that driver? How can I fix this? Thought I found the solution by selecting "Devices and Printers" right-click your printer and select printer properties, select "sharing" and then select "multiple drivers", checking for x86, and let it search the driver disc that came with the printer (canon iP1800 Inkjet series), But it could not find the file there. (also downloaded latest 32 bit driver for vista and xp from the canon, but it did not find it there either)

You can find it easily without registering for the Windows 7 DVD again and searching over the net. Infact you can find the cd key of this version as well as few other versions of the Windows 7... Here is how to get through it.... 1.Extract the Windows 7 ISO.Its a tough one cause its a UDF Format and you would be requiring external software like CDExtractor or ISoBuster to do the workk. 2.In the DVD root folder there is a folder sources....open it.... 3.Find a configuration file product.ini 4. open this file 5.Scroll till the end and you can find number of Various keys for versions like ultimate,professional,starter and many more.... Windows Vista RTM keys also do work with this as well as of Windows Server 2008 with the build 7100.

Upgrade Win 7 From Beta To RC And Release Versions
I do not think that MS should make any discounts or make such upgrades free, I just hope that they will not spoil Win7beta as it is now a great OS (better than Vista and XP). I want to use it now as my primary OS (really, using it on my notebook and NO bugs, vista drivers work perfectly for those device which do not have win7 drivers, so no drivers problem too, remember what was when Vista came out), but MS wants us to reinstall it when RC or the full version comes out. I understand that they want money for their job, but why not make such upgrades available?If RC will also be for testing purposes beta may be freely upgraded to it with no financial losses for MS. If they do not want to test RC on so many testers, well, then they can make an upgrade from beta to the release version (and of course change beta`s expiration date). It may come on separate disc for the same fee as the disk with full Windows 7 version, or like an option on these disks.I am willing to pay for this awesome OS, but I am not ready to install it now (and delete my genuine Windows Server 2008 installation) when I know that I will have to uninstall it in July with no other options. And I really think such an update is needed cause there is an option for Vista SP1 users to upgrade to Windows 7 Beta.

I've ordered seven copies of Windows 7, five full versions on pre-order from a retailer, plus Home Premium Upgrade and one Professional Upgrade download version from the Microsoft Student deal: Microsoft UK Education - Home - Ultimate Steal Now I hear that the pre-ordered copies will not arrive for FIVE DAYS after the release date. UPGRADE Versions Work On OEM Vista Or XP ?
I learned today that Microsoft is giving us a pre-order period during which we can purchase the "upgrade versions" of Windows 7 Home Premium and Professional at significantly discounted prices. My question is all of my computers have OEM XP or OEM Vista. Can I purchase those UPGRADE versions and install on my computers?I read online that we cannot. On the other hand, I think many people have computers with pre-installed OEM Vista, and my guess is that Microsoft will let them purchase the upgrade versions of Win 7??? But I'm not sure. I really love Windows 7 and would like to upgrade ALL of my computers. Please let me know if the pre-orders (upgrade versions) work on my OEM machines. Lastly, can I use those disks to clean install on the same computers down the line? and even if I swap the motherboard, HDD etc, can I still reuse the pre-ordered Win 7 so long as I install XP or Vista (OEM or full) first on the machine?

Why Doesn't Home Versions Not Have Domain Support ?
Why Doesn't Windows 7 Home Versions have Domain Support? Not Everyone has a domain but somepeople do, and why are we limited to not have any domain support in windows 7 home versions? some people have to connect to their work networks or somepeople have domain controllers in their house, and why are we not allowed to have domain support in windows home versions? we should be able to have domain support in the home versions of windows 7.

Can't See Previous Versions On Network Drives In Win 7 RC
Using Win 7RC for 2 months already and got a problem with the "previous version" option. When browsing my shared folders on the 2003 server I can't find any previous version to any file. It keeps saying that there are no previous versions. When checked from Vista and XP it's working of course. Any solution?

Nero Products Do Not Support The Beta Versions Of Win 7
As a general rule, Nero does not plan to add Windows 7 support for Nero versions prior to Nero 9. Bloody Great! I dont want to but another program. I hoped they would create a patch for the help files! Buy another program just to read the help files?! Â Does anyone know of any way to make the help files readable or acesable on Win7?
