Install Win7 On HP Pavilion S7713W

Ok here is my problem. I have a HP S7713W and I current;y run XP Pro. I bought the Upgrade disk for Windows 7 Pro. The install runs perfectly until I reach the point where I should enter product key info. The screen goes black. No cursor, nothing. I restart, see the windows logo, and again blank screen. I went back to XP and updated the BIOS.

No luck. It will not start in safe mode, I get the message that windows needs to finish installing first. The system runs Nvidia which is directly on the motherboard, not a seperate graphic card so the monitor plugs directly into the motherboard.

Win7 On HP Pavilion Dv9500t
It seems that HP, in their dubious wisdom, has decided not to provide driver support for the entire dv9xxx series of portables.  The PC seems extremely capable so I'd like to keep it and upgrade to Windows 7.  Has anyone got this combination working?  If so, can you provide a source for the drivers?

Installing Win7 On HP Pavilion Dv6700
I have an HP laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium. Im planning to install Windows 7. I am a member of the IEEE Computer Society, and have an account in IEEE and the Computer Society which is a MSDN Academic Alliance Software Center. I downloaded Windows 7 Professional (x86). Then unzip the file and run the setup, but i could only get to the Upgrade or Custom page of the installation.

Tried to do both and just get a message box that says that the installation couldn't be done, and that I should check the Set Association in Control Panel, so I think there is a file that doesn't know what program use to open it. I searched in the Internet and found an article telling that in order to upgrade Vista to 7 I should have the SP2 installed, so I downloaded the SP2 for Vista and installed it. Then I tried again to install Win 7, but it just do the same thing as before.

I burned the setup files to a DVD. I run it when turning on the laptop to boot from the DVD. On the screen appears some information about the laptop, then stay still on "A:". And I get stuck there as I don't know what commands I should use to begin the installation.

I've got some questions about it.

Does the version of Vista have something to do with it?

Can I only install a specific edition of 7 on my laptop, or I can install any edition on it?
Does the 'burn to DVD' have a specific burning settings, like set from the DVD burner program to be a boot disc?

How should the boot installation must be? Is there any command I should put?

System Information about my laptop:

-Windows Vista Home Premium - Service Pack 2
-Hewlett-Packard
-Model: HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC (it appears in HP webpage as dv6926nr)
-Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.00 GHz
-RAM: 3.00 GB
-System type: 32-bit Operating System

Install On An HP Pavilion Dv5t
I just installed Windows 7 Beta on my HP Pavilion dv5t and notice that my quick launch buttons don't work at all.

The mute button does work, but does not turn orange when muted (like it did in Vista). I can only tell that it is muted because of the mute symbol that appears in the systray.

The volume and WiFi buttons work correctly in Windows 7.

I have tried installing some of the HP drivers, but no help.

Anyone have any ideas?

Install On Hp Pavilion Dv 1136
if i install windows 7 on hp pavilion dv 1136, will it work?

Answer:-

It's a beta, so theres no guarantee that it will or wont work. I havent yet checked the specs of that hp machine so currently i cant even make a guess. To re-install XP SP3 you will have to format and re-install from your installation or recovery disks. However, if your looking at installing windows 7 make sure you have backups of all your files. just in case you have to do a full format at some point.

Ive just had a quick search to try and find specs of this, and there are a few variations on the model, the graphics appears to be either a Geforce 9200m or intel 852/855 chipset. If its a model with The intel chipset/graphics then it wont give brilliant graphics performance due to no WDDM driver, and i honestly don't know how well the 9200m will perform, as i haven't seen any reports on that chipset(that i remember reading).

heres the link to the individual models that are available,

http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Lookup?h_lang=en&h_cc=us&cc=us&h_page=hpcom&lang=en&h_client=S-A-R163-1&h_query=dv+1136&submit.x=0&submit.y=0

if you compare those numbers to what you have, then you will be able to find out precisely which hardware you have, then you can try searching here to see whether it will be generally compatible or not. Again as i said originally, with it being a BETA, there are no guarantees that Windows 7 will work with specific hardware, thats why it has been made available to increase the numbers of pc's that it can be tested on.

Install On HP Pavilion TX1420US
I installed Windows 7 completely on my HP Pavilion TX1420US, and it was successful.  However, when I tried installing the drivers, there is one unknown device, and when I tried to automatically search and install drivers, Win 7 cannot find it.  Is there a way I can know what that device is so that I can install the driver? Tried calling HP but I was told they can't help and call MS.  I did and they told me that Support for Win 7 RC1 is not yet provided.

Win7 X64 HP Pavilion DV6-1140ez Hardware Not Recognized
I'm trying to fix the last hardware problems I find with Windows 7 x64 RC1 version after battling for some of the hardware (touchpad Synaptics detected but not completely functional - had to install Synaptics official Vista 64 complete driver to make it work with vertical scroll ....)  on my HP Pavilion I just bought one month ago.

I find this hardware not wanting to be installed in unspecified section of Devices :

- A309 that I presume to be the DVB T Tuner but even with official driver no luck.
- 3 Base System Devices located on PCI bus 6, device 0, function 1, 3 and 4. I presume them to be related to motherboard components such as SMB, and bus stuff ...
- SD Host Controller that I can't figure out why it seems to appear in unspecified. Though I didn't try to use it .... so not sure it's not functional.

Win7 (32bit) To Win7 (64bit) Upgrade Install Error
I have purchased and downloaded both 32 bit and 64 bit Windows7 Professional (no CDs or media here only download version)

I sucessfully upgraded from Vista 32 to Windows 7 32

Then I upgraded my hard disk (140Gb 500GB) and RAM (3GB to to 4GB)

Now I would like to go from Windows 7 32bit to 64bit

When I try and run the Windows 7-P-retail-en-us.x64.exe file it upacks the box then stops with this error:"We are unable to create or save files in the folder in which this application was downloaded. Please check the folder properties to make sure that you have security permission on the folder to write flies and that that folder is not read only".

I am the System Admin and I have full rights, and have moved the exe and the setup box files to My Documentsand I have modified the directory properties/attributes but I still get the same error over and over.

I searched the posts and some people stated one needs a clean install others say you can upgrade from any version so I am trying the upgrade here especially since the upgrade from Vista 32 to Windows 7 32 was smooth and did require all the extra work of a reinstall.

BSOD On Win7 Install
I'm attempting to install on a Gigabyte MB with an Athlon 64 processor an ATI video card, a Turtle beach sound card, 1 gig RAM, 2 IDE hard drives, 1 SATA hard drive, a CD / RW and a DVD/RW. I burned a DVD from the ISO and set up to do a clean install to the channel 0 slave drive.

The machine boots off the DVD and the fancy dancing dots get started followed by a BSOD (on two tries) with the following:STOP 0x0000009c (0x000000004, 0x8b749da8, 0x00070f0f)The log file created on the target drive is 0 bytes in size so no help there. My normal system boots off the SATA drive and is XP Pro with all updates. I suspect some sort of hardware conflict but as to what.

Should I Install Win7 On A New Computer ?
Should I install Windows 7? If so, which build, and does it have any bootable ISOs? I would preferably like to install something that I won't have to replace with a newer build later, but I see that probably won't be possible unless we get an official update on the RTM soon.

Win7 Will Not Install On Partition 0
I have an older computer that is or was being used for Win XP Pro. I put a new hard drive that is partitioned with 25gb on the C drive with two other partitions of different sizes. I set the the hard drive as cable select (later tried as Master only)

Windows 7 in cable select saw all the partitions. When set to Master it only saw Partition 1 and the rest as unallocated which seems weird.

I have the boot order in Bios set as Floppy, CD Rom and then Hard Drive.

I have an external usb DVD reader for the install disc.

When i start the pc, then press to boot from CD, it sees the install disk and the install process starts. I get to the point to select where to install and I get this Notice:

"Windows can NOT be installed on to Disk 0 Partition 1"

I hit the more info button and get this notice:

"The computer hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the BIOS Menu."

It should boot to the hard drive the way I have it setup. At least it does for Win XP.

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestion as to how to get around this issue.

How To Stop Win7 Using WU Drivers During Install
Finally moving all the main workstations over to Windows 7. In a test run yesterday - I noticed that Windows 7 jumps ahead of me in a big way right after the main desktop appears.

In the Vista/XP days - I would actually get to install my drivers in my preferred installation order. In this install - especially for graphics - before I even got to install my preferred nVidia drivers - I see that Win 7 has already grabbed and installed 195.65 - presumably from Windows Update - which I do not want.

What's the trick (if any) at "first" desktop to get Windows 7 to hold it's horses and let me install what I want?

Install Win7 On SATA Drive
I have a HP m7667c, which has two SATA drives. The motherboard is ASUS P5BW-LA (or Basswood-UL8E). I've never successfully installed vista before because of it kept asking for SATA drive. I wonder if there is a solution for this problem with Window 7?

I think I have RAID on in the BIOS configuration but I don't really want to turn it off because in that way my old WinXP would die. I just wanted to give Windows 7 a try before I completely change to it. Could anyone help me? I could provide more information about the desktop if necessary.
