All Browsers Freeze With Flash Enabled
Nov 9, 2011I have been in IT for 10+ years and have done desktop/server support, programming, DBA, etc. I have come across an issue on my personal laptop that has stumped me. This started recently in the past month. It was around the time, I did a few windows updates and a FF update. So I have been unable to pinpoint what caused it. All of my browsers started to freeze upon loading a new page (even non flash webpages, ie google.com) They would freeze for 5-10 minutes. I noticed if I disabled the flash plugin in FF, then FF acted normally. I uninstalled the flash activex module, and IE started to work properly again as well. I did a lot of testing by removing flash and all of my adobe components (CS4) and acrobat. Anything flash related I removed completely, I then used a tool provided by adobe to remove any leftover remnants of adobe (registry entries, folders, etc). I tried many different versions of FF, Opera, Safari and Chrome and many different versions of the flash player (9-current). They all acted the same with flash installed, if I uninstalled flash, all the browsers worked perfectly fine.

Apr 8, 2012My problem is slow usb transfer rate - at first it start off real good (70-80 mb/s then within 10 sec it drops down to 3 and even 1 mb/s). 1.5 mb file gets into my flash drive in 10 min or so. Now I've formatted flash drives, no change. Write-caching enabled, "best performance" for flash drives enabled... Tried on a Lap-Top - transfer rate is not so high, but stable all the time - 15-12 mb/s. Remote Differential Compression disabled. Transfer rate within the hard drives in my computer is OK (I got 2). I don't know if it's the Windows 7 problem or the motherboard problem or hard drives config problem.
Here is my info:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
HDD's: Samsung 500bg and ST 320 bg, both 16 mb 7200
mobo - GA-770T-D3L, v.1.
RAM - 8gb
Phenom IIx6

I Can't find a flash player that works. everywhere I look it won't work. They say that it installs but when I go to a site that needs flash it doesn't work.

Feb 24, 2009i needed to make an clean installation of windows 7 and the only one i could get so fast was one with some programs added already, one of the programs was opera which i didn't like so i uninstalled it with "youre uninstaller 2008" and installed fire fox, so far no problems.
now i needed flash player 10 in order to install norton 2009, so i installed flash player 10 (direct link from the adobe website), but norton still gave me the error that it wasn't installed, i looked up and found this,
don't know if you can see it but flash player tries to install it on my opera folder, which isn't there anymore and it fails then it installs an uninstaller and say's its finished.
so i guess opera has left some system files in my computer so flash player thinks its still there and won't install the right way.
Anyone knows a solution to this problem?
Sidebar Flash Player Fix
Jan 8, 2009After getting Windows 7 x64 installed, I was having a problem getting the Pandora Gadget to work. It turns out this gadget uses Flash, which only comes in a 32 bit version. The Sidebar is x64, and can't access Flash. I came up with a quick and dirty way to load the 32 bit sidebar instead which allows flash to work! I know there are several gadgets out there that use flash so this should be a fix for all of them.
Edit the following Registry Key:
HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRunSideBar
Change the key to this: C:Program Files (x86)Windows Sidebarsidebar.exe /autoRun
(The only addition is loading sidebar.exe from c:program files (x86) instead of c:program files)
This should get you by until Adobe gets their act together!

I went into You Tube and the Flash Player warning came on You need to upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to watch this video." It also said that I have to download Flash Player, which I did. When I am downloading, the Flash Player is first slow in getting the application. When it does it takes about a minute to begin to install. The red bar begins to fill in the bar, then it stops at 12%. It then shows a timeout word. I took this as the Flash Player had a hard time downloading in the time that is requested. I've done something's that I have thought would speed up the download. I have transferred a lot of important files onto my external drive and deleted the files on my C: Drive.

Internet plays but takes a long time to even retrieve the video. one thing i've observed is even while retrieving the video the download rate is maxed out @ around 1mbps and suddenly the video loads with a lot of it already buffered.the usual route being retrieve vid buffer play.but the first two steps are going on together almost. it's almost as if the video is retrieved and buffering but does not play till a very long time. i'm talking atleast 30 mins here. i've update flash for windows and chrome that also includes the security update. there could be malware of some kind but not sure that's the reason.

After I down load it (from the Adobe site),I'm still told that I need it. When I check the un-install a program screen, it's there. When I tried to install the player again, the screen tells me that it's already installed. I also find a "fix" for IE 8 and Adobe Flash Player that I down loaded from there site.
