How Much Memory Can Win 7 32-bit Support ?

Can W-7 32-bit use the full 4 GB RAM I have in my system?  Vista 32 could only address approx. 3.6 GB.

I've been beta-testing W-7 32-bit and it shows a full 4GB available, unlike Vista, but I'm not sure if that is just an artifact.

Win 7 64 Bit Limited To 3.17 GB Of Memory
I have just installed Windows 7 64-bit, done all the drivers and Windows updates (though noticed there are more to be done). Before, I was running Vista 64-bit, with 8GB of RAM (4 sticks of 2gB Corsair memory). All 8gB were recognised, and I'd get about 6.5gB of useable memory - which I understand. Now though...

Both the BIOS and the System Information recognise that I have 8gB of RAM, yet the system info says that only 3.19gB are useable.

Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening?

Win 7 64 Bit Not Reading Entire RAM Memory
I've downloaded a windows 7 64 bit program from the Microsoft official site. I've installed the system on a new computer (not a laptop) that I've purchesed (without operating system). When the installation was succesfully finished I've checked my system settings and discovered my machine only uses 3.25 RAM memory and not 4 Gigs that I have.

My question is why is that? What can I do in order to fix it? I have a 64 bit processor and the Windows 7 operating system I've downloaded is 64 bit also...

Will 32 Bit Win 7 Support 8 GB Ram ?
will 32 bit win 7 public release support 8 GB ram?It would be nice cuz there are 32 bit games + lost's more nice things so I cant use 64 bit os if I wanna use 32 bit soft. If windows serve can handle 128G ram and more then why cant win 7 handle 8 G ram. if you (Microsoft) don't code 8 GB support in 2 bit win 7 u loose ur clients.me for example.

I just downloaded 32 bit Ubuntu linux and installed server kernel on it, and now I can use my 8 GB ram :) And I won't buy next windows until these memory limits are 4 GB off topic: if u plan make 8 GB support I can be tester.

Win 7 32-bit, 4GB RAM Support (Yes Or No)
I search everywhre, but everywhere the tell another story (some say win7 32 has 3GB limit, some say 4GB). So I want this to be clear:I have a machine (running WinXP Pro (default), it has 4GB RAM (XP does see 3GB, I know for sure that XP32 only supports 3GB)So I want to upgrade to Windows 7. Does Windows 7 (Ultimate) 32-bit support my 4GB RAM, or do I need to get a 64-bit version?

When is Microsoft going to support more than 3.2 gb of memory for thte 32bit system. Isn't it a bit antiquated not to allow a lot more than that?

Memory Usage Under 32 Bit Vs 64 Bit
I have three Dell GX280 SFF systems running Vista and Windows 7. These little systems fit necely into my home theater, were not expensive and seem to work nicely - both score just above "4" on the "Windows Experience Index", low score is the video card in all cases. For the money - they work fine for my purpose.

Here's my issue. These little systems are 2004-2006 vintage, support P4 (R) 775 Socket processors, PCIe and have a maximum of 4GB of DDR2 memory in the two on borad slots. I think I understand why the 32bit versions of Vista and Windows 7 will only address about 3.2 GB of memory,

but I'm confused as to why the system I modified to use the 64bit OS isn't using more of the available memory. All three systems are identical with the exception of video cards and the installation of an EM64T processor in the 64bit Windows 7 system.

On my 32bit Vista Ultimate system, System Information reports:

Installed Physical Memory  - 4.00 GB
Total Physical Memory      - 3.00 GB
Available Physical Memory - 2.30 GB
Total Virtual Memory       - 6.19 GB
Available Virtual Memory   - 5.54 GB
Page File Space            - 3.29 GB

On my 32bit Windows 7 system, System Information reports:

Installed Physical Memory  - 4.00 GB
Total Physical Memory      - 2.25 GB
Available Physical Mamory - 1.71 GB
Total Virtual Memory       - 4.49 GB
Available Virtual Memory   - 3.90 GB
Page File Space            - 2.25 GB

In the 64bit Windows 7 system (remember I have changed the processor to a P4 (R) EM64T version), System Information reports:

Installed Physical Memory  - 4.00 GB
Total Physical Memory      - 2.25 GB
Available Physical Memory - 1.53 GB
Total Virtual Memory       - 4.49 GB
Available Virtual Memory   - 3.65 GB
Page File Space            - 2.25 GB

The 32bit Windows 7 and 64bit Windows 7 systems seem to be "using" less of the available memory than the 32bit Vista system?  Checking around in both of the Windows 7 systems - on the "System Information" screen - there is a section devoted to "Software Environment - System Drivers", I don't recognize all of these "Services" - but many of them are posted as "Stopped".  Just wondering if something that should be running to instruct the processor to address more memory is "OFF".

Anyone have a clue...?

Intel Turbo Memory Support

I therefore tried to install the latest Intel driver for Vista. Installation went smooth, but: With this driver installed,  my X200 never successfully returns from sleep or hybernate. I just get a black screen. Uninstalling  this driver resolves this problem.

Upgrade Win 7 Utlimate Evaluation 64 Bit To Win 7 Ultimate Full Edition 64 Bit
I installed Windows 7 Ultimate Evaluation (64bit) version on my new PC.

I purchased a full Windows 7 Utlimate 64 bit version from Newegg, that I won't get till after October 22nd.

I want to install it on top of the evaluation version so I don't have to install all my applications again.

Can I do this? I like the evaluation version! So, I bought the OS myself!

Play Dragon Agerigins (occasionally)
Download newsgroup files using Newsleecher app

Can I Install Win 7 X32 Bit Then Later To Win 7 X64 Bit With Same Licence Key ?
I currently run Windows XP x32 bit Operating System.  I have ordered the "full retail" version of Windows 7.  I understand that 2 discs will be enclosed in the box, one for installing Windows 7 x32 bit and the other for installing Windows 7 x64 bit.  I understand that I need to choose whether I want the x32 bit or x64 bit Windows 7 Operating System and install the 1 I choose at that point.  I am quite happy with that.

However, what I would like to do is initially install the Windows 7 x32 bit system and in about 6 months (when I have upgraded my hardware sufficiently) then move on to the x64 bit Windows 7 Operating System.  Can I do this with the same 1 licence that comes with the full retail version I have just ordered or will I need to buy another copy of Windows 7 ?  It would not bother me if I had to do a "clean install" to move from x32 bit to x64 bit.

W7 7100 RC 64 Bit Memory Bus
I installed w/o a single problem. However it did hang a couple of times requiring a restart. I have 4Gb of memory. For XP 32bit the PC runs best with "ganged" memory mode. W7 seems to react better to "unganged". I use AMD+4200 64X2 with ASUS mobo.  I've tried both but the crashing seems more frequent.
Is there a preferred setting advised by microsoft?

Hardware Devices Mapped In 32 Bit Mode That Limit Memory
I have an EVGA MB, and Windows 7 tells me that 1282mb is reserved for hardware.  I'd like to find out what exactly that is used for.  I don't see any clues in the BIOS, and that seems a bit extreme, I expected more like 600-800mb to be reserved.

Any clues or nifty utilities to find out in detail what is mapped where?

Visual Studio 2008 - Win7 64 Bit Memory Issue
I just installed Win 7 Rc 64 bit and am running Visual Studio 2008 Pro

Version 9.0.30729.1 SP

Net Framework 3.5 SP1

And am running a few large apps.

The app shows 246MB memory used for devenv.exe *32 and

the same app on vista 32 bit machine shows 94mb used.

Needless to say, it is very slow.

Devenv.exe shows 19MB with no programs loaded on the Vista machine

And 58 MB on the Win7 Machine

The computer is a Lenovo, dual core 64 bit with 4GB RAM

The Vista machine is Shuttle Dual Core 32 bit with 4GB RAM

Any suggestions?

No 32-bit Colour Support
[The following are not the problems i faced on Windows XP]. I've connected my PC via HDMI 1.3!

I installed Windows 7 x64 in my PC. The real big problems i'm facing is with Nvidia.

1. First thing scaling didn't work i tried to fix it but no hopes. Good my monitor had built in scaling.

2. 59hz monitor refresh rate is another pain. My display works perfect in 60.001hz @ 1920x1200 resolution but it still resets to 59hz. Nvidia in there latest driver has informed that its the problem with Windows 7 OS. And microsoft says there is no theartical difference from 59hz and 60hz. Well there is huge difference especially when your play movies via DXVA in Media player classic home cinema where you your full colour range and shaders which causes some kind of boxing and not artifacts! Everything was proper in Windows Xp

3. Finally i don't about other but i've noticed massive difference in colour depth which is set to 32-bit but its showing only 24-bit colours which can easily be noticed in movies and games like Crysis. HDMI 1.2 supports upto 24-bit colour. But PC or PS3 has HDMI 1.3 which support 32-bit same as DVI connection. My monitor has upto 48-bit colour depth so the difference in colours while in 24-bit can be easily noticed.

Seriosuly is this a design flaw or enabling these would cause different problems. If any one has got a solution for this i would be happy to hear!

Virtual PC No Support 64 Bit OS ?
I wanted to install Vista to do a couple of tests. I don't have any spare machines, so I thought I'd install in a virtual machine under Windows 7. Windows Boot Manager gave me his message:

"Attempting to load 64 bit application, however this cpu is not compatible with 64bit mode."

Of course my computer is ok with 64bit (my primary OS is Win 7 64 bit).

Is Microsoft VPC not compatible with 64 bit guest systems?

Upgrading Win Vista HP 64 Bit To Win Ultimate 64 Bit

I chose the x64 option. but it still says.

the following issues are preventing Windows from upgrading. Cancel the upgrade, complete each task, and then restart the upgrade to continue.

You can’t upgrade 64-bit Windows to a 32-bit version of Windows. To upgrade, obtain a 64-bit version of the installation disc, or go online to see how to install Windows 7 and keep your files and settings.

32-bit Windows cannot be upgraded to a 64-bit version of Windows. To upgrade, obtain a 32-bit version of the Windows installation disc.

32-bit Support 4gb RAM
I own a HP HDX-18 Notebook (it has 4GB RAM), and I installed Windows 7 (64 bit) not too long ago. The laptop was being problematic giving me a blue screen of death with a 'Power_Driver_State_Failure' message, so I figured it could be problems with driver compatibility. I formatted the hard drive again, and installed a 32bit version of windows 7.

When I right click and go to 'My Computer', it only acknowledges that 3gb out the 4gb ram is being used. Why is this? Is Windows 7 incapable of supporting up to 4gb ram? Do you guys think I'm better restoring the laptop to factory settings (Vista Home Premium) with the recovery CD?
