Half-Open Limit Fix Program - Downloads And Bit Torrent Files
If you have ever wondered why your downloads and bit torrent files are way faster on XP than vista or windows 7 it is because XP has a half-open default of 100 while vista and 7 have a default of 10.
With this program you can set it to whatever you wish. I personally have mine set at 250 which is the max the program will allow. Anything thereafter is set at infinity, or no limit.
I am not the author of this program, I downloaded it from half-open.com and you can get it from there, but I also uploaded it here for anyone who wants it.

Open With: Can't Add Program To Open Files
Im having a problem with opening files I use to open with two programs. One is mkv, vob and divx files with homecinema. And snes roms with an emulator. Basically win 7 would let me select the program and it would show up on the list of programs to use. I would select always use and I'm done. But I moved the folders containing the files to a different folder and now my two programs I use will not show up in the open with list. I now have to go to the program itself and search for the files. Its a pain because I could click on the files and get right to them.

Files Asking For Program To Open?
After I most recently restarted my computer, every program or file I try to open prompts me with a window asking for which program I want to use open the file, followed by a list of programs. Normally this would just be an inconvenience, because I can always just search for the same program I'm trying to open, but for some reason the "always use the selected program to open this kind of file" box is grayed out. I recently recovered from a virus, so I suspect this may be a side effect

Choosing Program To Open Files With?
I was downloading a screen recorder called camstudio and once I downloaded it it asked to choose a programme to open it with, so I chose winrar because most of my other files were opened with this, but then once I chose this all of my icons in the bottom bar were changed to the winrar programme logo, so I thought if I uninstalled the winrar software the problem would be solved, so I did but now all the icons are gone and every time I try and open something it asks me to choose a programme to open it with!

Can't Open Any Files Inside Of Any Program
I can't open any files in any Office or OpenOffice program going through File>Open. I can double-click a file within a folder and it will open fine. I don't have this issue in any other program that I regularly use. Just anything Office or OpenOffice. Here is an image of what I wind up with if trying to attach an image in Outlook. In Outlook I cannot attach a file to an email or Save an attachment. I can double-click in Outlook to open an attachment. Anyone run into this type of issue before or any suggestions of where I can even begin to look to resolve?

Set The Default Program To Open Media Files In Windows 7?
Does anyone know how do I set the default program to open media files in Windows 7On WinXP it was right click -> open with -> checkmark "set as default program for opening this type of file" -> double click program. I did the same thing on Windows 7 and it has absolutely no effect. I do NOT want to play music/movie files with Windows Media Player, yet every time I try to play any music file (.mp3, .wav, etc), it ALWAYS open with Win Media Player, even though I have clearly set the default program to open these files as something else... same thing applies to movies

Deleted 64 Bit Program Files Folder
I noticed that there were 2 program files folders. After installing a few programs, I noticed they were all going to X86 folder, so I thought this was an install error on the shipping companies part, and deleted the unnumbered program files folder. Is there a way to fix my messup ? will it affect performance ?

64-bit Software Installs In (x86) Program Files Folder?
I'm new to the forum, just signed up.I have a few questions about installing software on 64-bit.I am running windows 7 ultimate 64-bit and noticed some thing. Some of the software are installed in the program file (x86) folder, some of them in the program files folder by default.I made sure that i found and install 64-bit compliant software. 1. Why are 64-bit apps being installed in the (x86) program files folder when they are in fact 32/64-bit versions? 2. When i get prompted to choose the destination folder, can i manually select the program files folder and will it change or compromise windows?

Limit A Programs Access To Computer Files And Services
how to limit access for a program to my computer. I play World of Warcraft and I am concerned about hackers attempting to access my Outlook or other sensitive files on my computer. I also want to limit the programs access to only files within the folder it is located in. In other words, I don't want the game to be able to access my computer's services, files, etc other than the files contained within the World of Warcraft folder on my hard drive. I am concerned that I could be hacked and an attempt was already made to change my WoW password. I noticed my outlook window flashes when WoW is running at the same time. I use an authenticator on my Wow account so my account was not compromised other than the inconvenience of having to reset my password from within the us.battle.net account management website. I use Norton Security Suite and Malwarebytes anti malware protection programs but I would feel much more secure if I could limit Wow to only access the WoW folder on my PC.

Can't Copy Or Move Files - Error Message "open In Other Program"?
When moving or renaming files I frequently get an error messages informing me that "The action can't be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another program". This typically happens with the second or third folder I try to rename or move. Navigating away to another folder and then coming back or closing explorer and reopening it usually helps but on the second rename or move I'm back to square one. I've been reading and searching on the forum and this is what I have tried so far:stop the windows media player network sharing servicepause indexingtemporarily disable antivirus softwareused the system file checker to check integrityall to no avail. This is without a doubt the most annoying "bug" I have run into so far as it makes it virtually impossible to get anything done or organised. Has anyone found a real solution to this problem that does not involve manually unlocking every single folder before working with it (using 3rd party software
