HP Laserjet 1100 Not Connecting To Laptop Using Windows 7?
Feb 22, 2012
I have the USB cable purchased from Best Buy, but my OS won't detact the my reliable HP Laserjet 1100 printer. Why? and How and what do I need to do to get it to print?
I have an all-in-one color printer for pictures and other documents, overwhelmingly I write short stories (and some long ones) but Great American Author not me! LOts of drafts, lots of reports for my job--all in black and white, the singular ink that makes the color "all-in-one" less useful and much more expensive. I found an HP LaserJet 1100 b/w laser printer with a full toner cartridge in the PC/Printer, etc. tomb in my garage. Lo and behold the HP LaserJet 1100 works! I purchased a USB adapter that connects with the "smaller" proprietary connection on the HP and I know the my Windows 7 Home edition is communicating with it. Does anyone know where I might be able to download (free hopefully) the drivers for the HP LaserJet 1100 so it will work with my Dell Windows 7? (Unfortunately, the sellers of the USB/Parallel Port adapter cable told me it was "plug-n-play."
I have an HP Laserjet 1100 printer I am trying to connect to my new Windows 7 Enterprise Edition 32 bit OS computer. Drivers are installed and I have had this printer on other Windows 7 32 bit computers with parallel ports. The new computer does not have a parallel port visible, so I thought I'd try a parallel to USB cable and attack it from that angle. I plugged the USB end into the computer first and then connected my USB -> parallel cable to the printer's parallel cable. Windows 7 Devices and Printers now shows a IEEE-1284 Controller that wasn't there before. How do I make this device my primary printer?
Before getting upgraded to a new pc with Windows 7, I was on XP and had my own HP Laserjet Plus 4 that I didn't have to share with anyone...it just plugged in to the pc parallel port.So now I've got this snazzy new pc, but my jurassic printer won't connect--because there's no serial/parallel ports on it --being that they're completely ancient and useless nowadays?how do I get the printer connected to the PC??? The bossman sprung for a new pc, so there's no way I'll get a new printer-or even a used one...I'll be stuck with this thing until it catches fire.I understand there are adapters we can buy, but the one I need only comes in a 6-ft length (Belkin brand)...the parallel cable I had previously is 25ft. I can't find anything usb to parallel that comes in that length...and the way my office is set up, there's no other option but to use a long run of cable from the pc to printer (I can't move any of the equipment from where it is now for various reasons).
HP Laserjet 6P via USB lead.I am trying to connect an HP 6P Laserjet to a laptop which uses Windows 7 via a USB lead. The printer installs but jobs are getting stuck in the print queue. I am clearing the spooler ok, have restarted, but I still cannot get jobs to print. Maybe I need to change a setting? I downloaded the driver in the last couple of days, so that's up to date - and the printer will work when connected to our PC via the old style 21(?) pin type lead - but that won't print using the USB lead either.
so i recently had to re-install Windows 7 after having to restore the laptop to Vista. I do remember having the same problem when i first tried to connect my laptop and tv with a vga but i cant remember how i fixed it. It detects another monitor but will only allow me to duplicate the desktops which isnt really what i want.
Just bought a new laptop Win 7 64bit.The main PC is an older Vista 32bit desktop. The laptop uses a wireless router (Netgear) to access the internet. Is there a way to printer and file share? The printer is HP C4440.I have already set the Host (Vista) PC to share files and printers under Network and Sharing Center.
