HP Dv8000 Notebook Sound Problem
My HP Notebook dv8000 is missing sound when I do a clean install with Windows 7. Is there anyway to force Windows 7 to use the same sound driver that was there for Vista, which I did get to work? Device manager shows a Microsoft High Definition Audio Device, but I believe HP used another manufacturer for the device. I've tried uninstalling / reinstalling drivers, and get the same result.

HP DV8000 Sound Card Driver Fails Install
I've been searching the Internet for a few days now and I still cannot find the way to get my sound card to work. I have tried many different drivers and now that I'm set on keeping 7 I just need to figure this out. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 on my HP DV8000. Here is my id info for my audio card so if somebody could help me find the right driver that would be great. PCIVEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_309B103C&REV_02 PCIVEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_309B103C PCIVEN_1002&DEV_4370&CC_040100 PCIVEN_1002&DEV_4370&CC_0401 I've tried following instructions from an older thread but I can't seem to get IE8 to download ActiveX controls so I can find the driver myself. All the old links to drivers in the older thread are gone now.

Cannot Find Creative Sound Blaster Xtreme Audio Sound Card
My fairly new PC: Core2Quad Q6700 on ASUS P5K (Intel P35) with RealTek HD Audio chip, plus Creative Soundblaster Xtreme Audio internal sound card. I've installed Windows 7RC on a new partition on my HD alongside Vista Ultimate. I've experienced no installation problem, but Win7RC does not recognize my SB sound card at all! So, I can't even update the driver! It recognized the Realtek chip and my external USB mic, but not the sound card that had been installed for audio quality!! To come to think of it, I've had the problem with Vista, with my Dragon Naturally Speaking Pro 10.1 not recognizing the "existence of any sound system" in an administrator account I used to install the software. However, the software recognizes all my audio systems in my other user account (admin) and the software runs smoothly!! Any connection? What's the problem here? Anyone have any idea? Edit: I also found that the stereo mix feature of the Realtek HD audio isn't recognized either. (Recognized in Vista and my old XP)

Sound Blaster Audigy PCI Card Sound Problem
I installed windows 7 home premium today on my computer on a dedicated hard disk. All went fine and did windows updates to all my driver issues. At this point I had sound. I then installed ubuntu 9.10 on a separate physical disk without issue. Ubuntu installed a boot loader (Grub) which recognised windows 7 and I could boot into both OSes (dual boot), both working happily (including sound). I then installed some apps in ubuntu (incl. wine) and now when I boot into windows 7, I don't have any sound. The sound icon is happy, the device manager is happy. I haven't touched the windows disk or installation, yet the sound doesn't work. The sound hardware is a Sound Blaster Audigy PCI card. This doesn't make sense surely. Any ideas?

Regular Cataclysmic Sound Failures In Asus Onboard Sound
After installing windows 7x64, the sound initially worked. Then I noticed that during any audio playback the sound would pop and crack regularly. Now on occasion, the audio will work with popping and cracking for a while, and then have a cataclysmic failure errupting in massive static before it stops working all together.  Sound works with popping and cracking again after a cold boot, but the problem repeats every few days. I am using an Asus M2N-Plus SLI Vista Edition Motherboard which uses the C-Media 6501 on board sound-card The problem is not changed by using headphones, or using the case front head-phone jack Attempted to use Vista x64 drivers, which do not work, Neither Asus nor C-Media have released updated drivers for windows 7x64 for this card Does anyone know of a set of drivers that work? or a way to work around this?

I have the HP Pavilion dv6-1245 dx, product number NV068UA. It has all of the factory hardware still installed. Can someone help me find a good program for this. A program with equalizers and the such, options for setting diff sound types? Hope you understand what I mean. Also, did I give enough tech info? PS: Should have asked. What are some really good/best over the ear head phones for a PC?

No Sound, No Sound Device Detected, Drives Installed
I'm in a pickle with my machine and Windows 7 after this latest update. On startup I get an error from MMDevApi.dll saying that it might not run on Windows or... something else. This also occurs anytime a program tries to use the sound card ie. WoW, Yahoo IM, Live IM, SL, etc. I've updated my sound card drivers to the newest ones. I still get an error that says the device is detected when going to "Sound Devices" in the control panel. Trying to adjust the sounds themselves leads me to the Windows Audio thing... which won't start even from the component list.

Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card Compatibility
I just bought a new pc from Dell. I opted out of buying the SB sound card they had as an option and now I am sorta regretting that. I loaded RC 7100 as soon as I got the machine and after going through this forum I am sorta left with the impression that SB cards don't work with Win 7. Is that really the case? I was looking at an "Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card" but if it will just cause me grief it's not worth it. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I can get and not pull my hair out trying to get it to work? The main game I play sounds sorta mediocre with the on-board sound.

Custom Install With Notebook Without Drivers
I am trying to upgrade my Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 32 bit. Since my Vista is the home version and the win 7 I've purchased is professional, I have to do a custom install, which basically deletes all my programs and drivers. My notebook, however, didn't come with any drivers when I purchased it. All it asked me to do was make a recovery disk. So my question is, how do I find said drivers? I've downloaded a few off HP but do those require existing drivers or can I use those after the Win 7 installation? My main concern is my ATI Mobility Radeon 3200 and CCC.

HP L2000 Notebook Missing Drivers
I just did a Win7 x64 RTM clean install on my HP L2000 notebook. After install and auto update (it updated my display and network driver) I still do not have drivers for "mass storage controller", "multimedia audio controller" and "PCI modem". HP does not have any Vista x64 drivers on their web site. The HP docs indicate that these are "TI media card reader", "Conexant CX20408-31 AC97" and "Conexant CX20493-58" devices. Real drivers on Windows Update would be really nice! Please respond if you know where genuine x64 drivers are available.

How To Install In Notebook With No DVD, OS, USB ?
I have a tough problem that I would really appreciate detailed instructions on how to solve. I recently purchased a Motion Computing M1300 Tablet (originally from Circa 2003). It has a 40GB HDD (internal - IDE I think) that has been wiped so it has no OS - only BIOS. I do not have any keyboard or mouse (its a pen table) or DVD/CD Rom for this computer. It does have a USB and I follewed instructions to create a bootable USB flash drive with Windows 7 on it, but that procedure gets only a few minutes into it and then fails because computer is unable to find any drivers that it is look for. I do have access to a second XP computer with DVD. I have a Windows 7 DVD and also an XP DVD as well that I can access on the 2nd computer. I can and have taken out the HDD from the Motion Computer computer and I have a USB Drive attachment that allows me to connect the drive from the Motion table (after taking it out) to my second laptop where I can do all kinds of things to it. What I want to do is figure out some instructions on what to do to the HDD after removing it from my tablet (maybe starting with a low level format) so that I can put an OS on the HDD (though the USB connected to my XP laptop) and after I put the HDD back in the Motion Computing laptop, everything will start working and the Motion Laptop will be usable with the OS. I would prefer to have Windows 7 on it, but at this point, I would even accept someway to even get XP working on the machine. Everything I have tried so far just has not worked.
