HP Crashes When Streaming Video
My venerable V2401cl works well with Win7, but crashes the web browser (Firefox, IE8, and Chrome) and Windows, usually freezing the screen, but sometimes producing a Blue Screen of Death.
I see the behavior on Hulu.com, Youtube.com and Flip.tv, usually after a few minutes playing.
I have installed the ATI/AMD updater "9-11_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu"
http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?driver=VideoCard/win7-64-suite
...and the latest Flash.
My Presario v2401cl is in the Compaq v2000 family of laptops and features an AMD 64-bit 1.8Ghz Turion microprocessor, 512MB of original Compaq-installed RAM
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00541065&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&os=2100&product=1158570
... oh, and I saw this same behavior in WinXP_SP3, which is one reason I updated to Win7.
Except for this problem, I have enjoyed the Win7 update experience. I also use the laptop for actually work-related purposes.

Pc Freezes When Streaming Video
I recently upgraded to windows 7 on all 3 of my home computers and i am loving it so far. There is 1 problem i can't solve myself and it has to do with my home server freezing up whenever another computer in my home network stream a dvd (or sometime even a small divx) movie from it. Strange thing is, the same setup worked flawlessly when i had vista on all my computers so that rules out that its any hardware issue (maybe a driver issue from nic or something?) PC1 where i think the problem is : My main computer with al the media on it im going refer to as server, this pc has Win 7 Ultimate x64 installed on it, intel core2duo E6850 @3,0Ghz, 4 gigs DDR2 memory and an Asus P5K motherboard. All my media is on a shared drive on this pc and all other pc's can access it through my home network. PC2 the one i use to watch movies : My 2nd pc is in the livingroom and hooked up to my flatpannel tv, this pc ill refer to as my mediacenter. This pc has windows 7 ultimate x32 installed. It has an Intel Pentium 4 3.4 CPU, 2 gigs DDR2 memory and an Abit AB9 Quad GT motherboard. My network settings : My home network is completely wired (no wireless devices whatsoever) and all connected through a netgear FVG318 Router. There is no password on sharing and every setting in my home network is set to share everything with all others in my network, so all if freely accessible. The actual problem : As said all my media is hosted on my server computer, there are DVD's divx movies and some music and pictures. Whenever i try to watch a DVD on my mediacenter the movie freezes, sometimes already in the titlescreen but also sometimes 5, 10 or even 30 minutes into the movie. The freezes are completely random i guess. The mediacenter workes fine after a freeze, only error i get is that it cannot connect to my server. When i goto my server i at first noticed that my network connection was lost on my server. After some trial and error i found out when i disable my networkcard on the server and after enabled it agian i could continue watching my movie on the mediacenter but it the freeze kept happening. Then i thought it might be a power save setting so i made a powersave scheme where nothing turns off, no hibernation and not even the display turns off. Also i changed some setting in the network card on my server telling it that it could not be turned off to save power. After all this done when i watch a DVD now on my mediacenter my whole server just freezes after a while. I still see the desktop screen and my mouse mointer but i cant move it, no error msge its just a frozen screen. I also browser my system logs and looked for errors around the time the freezes occur but i cant find anything related. the only errors i see are after the system halted. The log stated the system has been shut down unexpecedly (couse i pressed the off button) and after it restarts i see i couple of performance index errors (WmiApRpl).

Patchy Flash Video Streaming
I have installed a Windows 7 Ultimate RTM trial on my pc and connected it to my Internode NakedADSL2+ Ultra net connection. It is an 18Mbit connection with cat6 cables and when downloading a test file from Internode's servers pulls about 1200kB/s. I have noticed, ever since running 7085, that youtube and other video streaming sites (including facebook, collegehumour, etc.) that the buffering is very patchy. It does not seem to matter if it is a flash or vimeo or any other kind of video streaming. Often times, I will be watching a video and the progress bar will catch up with the buffering and simply stop buffering. Then when I try to re-watch the video, the already buffered material is in the cache and that is all that loads. It does not continue buffering from where it stopped. Very annoying! I also have a machine with XP which buffers much quicker and with minimal interruptions. Can anyone help with this and has anyone noticed the same thing?

Streaming Flash Video Freezes PC
Running web-based flash games has no effect. Playing Flash videos in either regular or full screen will freeze PC to a point I have no option but to hard boot. Long-term gaming has no issues, nor does long term PC "on-time". An annoying "humm" is all i get besides a completely frozen desktop. I have tested both IE 8, both 32bit and 64bit, and Firefox 3.55 32bit. I have used the tools available from adobe to remove former versions, and reinstalled the newest available. I came across a couple "tweaking solutions", but neither of which have worked. 1)disable java in firefox 2)disable hardware acceleration in Flash I even went on to allow unlimited storage within flash for the sites i watch the most. The videos can last anywhere from 2 seconds upwards of 30 minutes. No mouse movement, nothing else running, besides Comodo Firewall. (which I hope isn't the problem). The last 2 things I have NOT tried yet is updating my BIOS, and a clean install. (original install was clean though) This PC is a homebuild, and a completely new machine to me. SO i have yet to refine which drivers work best for me. It is only about 2 weeks old.

Streaming Video Constantly Buffering Over Network
I have two windows 7 computers connected to my router and one laptop with Windows 7 connected wirelessly, also WinVista 64bit connected to router. Anytime I watch a movie through the network, it constantly stops and buffers. At least I assume its buffering. I use VLC player and I've never had this problem until I switched up to Windows 7. Is there any known issues with this type of problem. I can't find anything on Google.

Streaming MPEG-2 Video From Win 7 Computer To XBOX 360
I am having a problem streaming mpeg2 from my windows 7 media center to my xbox 360. Before I upgraded to windows 7 I had vista media center and it would work work just fine without any lag. Now with windows 7 when I play the file on the 360 (either from the dashboard or media center) it lags and pauses constantly. Here are some details. - both computer and xbox are connected to a linksys wt600n router using cat 6 - I use symantec endpoint for the firewall, but I tested it by disabling it.- reset the router to the default settings. -installed the latest intel gigabit NIC driver. - have roxio cinimagic application, so I don't believe it is a codec problem. the video plays just fine through media center on the computer itself. - updated the xbox with the latest patches. None of this helped. I used this function a lot with my old vista setup and I would really like to get this fixed.

Error: Video Hardware Crashes While Playing Games
I've been running Windows7 for two weeks and suddenly my PC starts crashing/freezing/locking up each time a play a game. Doesn't matter which game, and this happens at irregular intervals. The only thing i can do once this happens is reboot. This is a list of all my recent errors to date.  - This problem occurred during the ATi 9.4 and 9.5 drivers as well.  - At this stage i'm about to giveup and start using my old 32bit Vista.  - I've considered heat issues etc  - All drivers have been updated including BIOS  - I'm not running anything OC'ed at present  - I've run IntelBurnTest 4 times on MAX with no errors. I'm almost certain this is simply a problem between my ATi drivers and Windows 7 but I can't see anybody else having the same problems. Video Games Black Screen That Crashes While In Full Screen
All the games I had when I used Windows Vista were playable. Now with Windows 7, whenever any of my games starts in full screen mode, my monitor turns black and does nothing else. The monitor still detects my computer because the monitor gave me no error of a missing input. I cannot alt+tab or Ctrl+Alt+Del or even WindowsLogo+Tab and I am forced to cut the power and restart. After long tiring research giving me such suspects like DirectX 11, disabling Aero, to the all popular lacking computer requirements to play the game I could play before I installed Windows 7. My conclusion was I could play games as long as there are not in full screen mode or in other words Windowed Mode. Why must I play all my games in Windowed Mode to play them on Windows 7? Is there a way to fix this problem? I have already tried to play a few games in compatibility mode and it does not change anything.

Streaming / Downloading Issue
When I open any webpage in firefox or IE8, it only sometimes loads. Half the time, the progress bar will sit about halfway loaded, then eventually give a cannot connect to webpage error, and then when I refresh it will load almost instantly. The second problem is streaming of any sort, and downloading. Streaming from any site, no matter how "fast" it is (youtube vs, say, MSN), takes forever. I click play, it will buffer 1 second...play one second...buffer for 15 seconds and gain about 3 seconds of playable material. Occasionally, it will completely stop buffering and I will have to refresh the page to try again. Also, something strange on youtube for me is that I have to wait until the video is completely done buffering to click on any other links on the page. For example, if I am watching X video, I have to wait until it is done buffering to click on and have Y video successfully load. Then it just repeats the buffering issue again. Note that I can use "copy link location" options in firefox, restart the browser, and then paste it back in to get it to load without having the first video buffer all the way (Sorry if that was a bit confusing, it's an odd problem). Downloading aspect is that it will start out fine (still with cruddy download speeds, 230 kb vs advertised 10 mb), then drop to 0 kbps and then eventually give me a cannot read source file. This applies to everything, essentially, from youtube (I download the videos to watch instead of waiting 30 minutes for a 2 minute video to load), to rapidshare and mediafire and even simple driver downloads. I think that is everything, if I remember something else I'll edit it ;P I can't test the connection with an Ethernet cable until basement construction is finished, and I can run an Ethernet cable up from the new media center to my room. I am using the adapter "Atheros 802.11 a/b/g/n Dual-band Wireless Network Module" that came installed with vista x64 on the original computer, which I upgraded to windows 7 and installed the "Original Atheros Wireless LAN Driver" for windows 7 found here, which I then updated with driver-genius professional edition to the most recent version (yeah, I actually paid money to try and get this fixed...). The only other thing I can think of which may be an issue, if the build of windows 7. Every except the network is fully functional, so I am pretty sure that's not it. Here is a SS just to be sure. http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/4840/buildx.jpg Any questions, just ask. I really will try and help get this problem solved. Edit #1: I have a laptop, from HP, with vista x32 on the same network. Runs beautifully, buffers fine, nice download speeds, and all the extra fluff that you can add to this list. But it has a different adapter, so that's why I'm thinking something is going on with the atheros. If you think that's the problem too, can you point me to a good non-usb wireless adapter?

Sony Bravia W5500 Streaming
Setting this up was a breeze but I have only one problem. The end result is blocky and poor. I've looked at the performance monitor and whilst the machine is working hard there is capacity. Does wmp12 use any throttling? As Lan utilization is particularly low as if the streaming is optimized for passing traffic over the internet. Anyhow I'm stumped so if anyone can share some light on this for me I'd really appreciate it.

Media Streaming Via UPNP-AV (DLNA)
Media Streaming via UPNP-AV (DLNA) from Buffalo Linkstation Live to WMP 12. so I have the following problem. I am trying to use WMP 12 as a UPNP-AV Control Point, i.e. the streaming client for my DLNA compliant Buffalo Linkstation Live. In the library section for WMP 12 (as well as on the "network" tab of Win 7) I can see the Linkstation. In WMP it shows up under "Other Libraries", on the network tab it's showing as UPNP device and the icon seems to indicate that it provides media. But when I then choose the Linkstation library in WMP, it doesn't actually display any of the music (I have started with music indexing only on the linkstation) and it keeps telling me the library is empty. Now I have already used the Linkstation to serve a Linux Amarok player several months ago and it worked without any problems. Also I can use the WMP12 without any problems to stream from a Vista computer sharing through WMC 4.0. I don't understand why I can't stream from the linkstation. Is it a protocol issue (WMP12 not really UPNP-AV compliant)? A port issue/firewall issue? All the devices are in the same (switched) subnet. At first I used connections via wireless AND 100MBit Ethernet, later I switched to only 100 Mbit switched Ethernet. Any suggestions?

Network Issue When Streaming To PS3
I'm attempting to set up PS3 Media Server on my PC running Windows 7. Here's how the setup is right now: PC is connected to modem/router. PS3 is connected wirelessly. I can't see the PC on the PS3 but I can see my girlfriend's laptop just fine. I was able to enable the option to allow sharing to the PS3 and resolved the issue on the PS3 not being able to access files. In a way I have a feeling this has to do something with the fact that they are seeing each other due to the fact that they are on the wireless connection. In any case, I can't see my PC on my PS3 and I need some help. Running Windows 7 x64.

EXPLORER.EXE Crashes, MMC.EXE Crashes, Moviemaker.exe Error
I want to love Win7 so badly, but this is just crazy. I'm about to go back to good old XP, simply for the stability. I'm about fed up with Windows 7 after only using it for two weeks. Off of a brand new and formatted clean install, with only Norton NIS 2010, Itunes, Adobe Reader, and Firefox 3.5.7 installed, I get constant explorer.exe crashes. Shortly followed by an mmc.exe crash, then it just gets caught up in a never-ending explorer.exe crash that only a reboot resolves, for a short time. All drivers are up to date, and all Win 7 updates have been applied. I've even formatted and re-installed Win7 only to have explorer begin crashing a day later. This is all on a stock Dell Inspiron 545 quad core, 8GB RAM, etc. I'm very tech savvy and am about jump off of the Win 7 bandwagon. Maybe the Apple Mac commercials are correct, another fumbled attempt at a stable OS from Microsoft? After extensive reading, it appears that many others are suffering through this ____ also. Some get it while attempting to right click any icon, some when launching apps, some, like me , for no apparent reason at all. I don't ever get the BSOD, but the computer is essentially non-functional due to explorer restarting all the time. I've done a ton of reading and have tried sfc /scannow, which found no errors. I've tried shellexview, to no avail for the context handlers. I've uninstalled and re-installed all non-MS apps. I've tried everything that I've read, and it eventually starts crashing again. It is very random, and I can find no patterns that cause the explorer crashing. It works for two days, then goes haywire. Sometimes it only works for an hour before the explorer crashes begin. And yes, this is a fully licensed and legal copy of Win 7 Pro that I purchased through CDW. A side note, this computer ran WIN XP perfectly. All hardware has been tested and is perfect. If anyone has found a fix for this issue, then please chime in! Below are the errors that populate the Event Viewer: Activation context generation failed for "c:program files (x86)windows livephoto galleryMovieMaker.Exe".Error in manifest or policy file "c:program files (x86)windows livephoto galleryWLMFDS.DLL" on line 8. Win 7 VIDEO_TS (*.VOB) Streaming Via An Extender
Why will Windows 7 not allow Media Streamers such as the Xbox360, Dma2100, etc to stream VIDEO_TS (*.VOB/IFO) type files? As Windows 7 clearly allows these type of files by default on the PC Desktop version via the 'Movie Library'. I thought the whole point of an extender was to mimic the behaviour of the Desktop version 'exactly'? Why should people have to waste alot of time using silly Transcoders & Encoders (Transcode360, Vaders plug-in) and lose DVD Menu structures/Chapter Points/Sync issues, when Windows should allow the function in the first place. I could understand Microsoft not allowing streaming of VIDEO_TS via Vista MCE as the desktop version on Vista MCE did NOT support the 'Movie Library' function NATIVELY. For Vista to show a Movie Library, a hack had to be applied, which enabled the 'DVD Gallery'. Almost every other half decent video streamer out there allows this simple function. There have been thousands and thousands of posts regarding this on various forums (The GreenButton/Australian MCE, etc) and it is a function many would appreciate. Will Microsoft now allow the streaming of these files since Windows 7 now natively supports VIDEO_TS via the Movie Library?

According to the Task Manager it is using 25% of my 100Mbps LAN speeds. So far so what. DU Meter concurs 25Mbps. But according to the stats it has uploaded 10Gigs in the hour. But the film they are watching is only a 947MB avi. How come a 947MB file generates over 10Gigs of stream data?

Problem Streaming H.264 To Xbox 360 Via Media Center
Microsoft have done a great job with the Windows 7 RC. I can now stream MP4 movies (H.264 with 5.1 AAC audio) from my desktop pc running Windows 7 to my Vista laptop flawlessly with both media player and media center. The problem I have is when trying to stream these files from Windows 7 to media center on my Xbox 360 Elite. All files are encoded in the same format but some play ok while others cause the screen to go blank and freeze after a few seconds. Afterwards, the only thing I can do is exit to the dashboard or switch the console off. In a couple of instances I have been able to avoid the problem by fast forwarding a few seconds into the film before the freeze occurs but this does not always work. It seems that there is a compatibility issue with the Xbox 360 media center and MP4 files (H.264 5.1 AAC audio). My network is wired and testing shows I have healthy bandwith so I don't think that is the problem. Has anybody else noticed anything similar? Is there an easy way to overcome this hurdle? I have stacks of MP4 files with 5.1 aac audio and I thought that with Windows 7 I had found a solution to a niggling issue (yes, I should've realized that H.264 is only supported with 2 channel audio on the Xbox when I bought it but I was too excited at the time). Evidently, this is not the case and the Xbox 360 remains a redundant feature in my living room.

Crashes When Loading Up Certain Programmes
Ive just installed Windows 7 on my machine. Running an AMD dual core 3800+ with 4.0DDR2 and GForce 9750GT On the initial installation, just before you have the option to set up user name- the screen went all blue with lots on small black horizontal line across. It hung for a few mins and eventually I had to manually re-start. Off to a great start!! Anyway once it re-booted and after it had checked for the intial first use and graphics, I managed to get in to the system and successfully load onto the desktop. Continued through windows update and there was some updates for my graphics cards. After this I went to Nvidia's site and downloaded the 124mb file Windows 7 64 bit file. All this downloaded and installed ok, however, whenever I try to open a media file, Windows media centre it'self and msn messenger, the screen freezes and seems un recoverable. I haven't installed any other programes yet, but I can only assume it's something to do with the graphics card? remember this happened before I managed to even load the OS propperly for the first time...does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be at all and a possible solution?

One problem i encountered was that I could not run any games including Counter-Strike:Source and Crysis without locking up. I have a pair of 8800's paired up in SLI and all the spec's are running in stock clock. Does Windows 7 not support SLI at the moment? I am running the NVIDIA 181.22 WHQl Drivers.
