HP Pavilion Dv9000 Laptop Driver For Base System Device
I just installed Windows 7 Beta on my HP Pavilion Dv9000 laptop and everything is working really well, but in device manager I have 2 items listed under Other Devices that say Base Sytem Device. I am assuming I need some kind of driver for them, but I am not sure how to tell what they are or what driver they will need. How do I figure this out?
If I get the properties of these devices under the general tab I see Device type: Other device, Manufacturer: Unknown, and Location: PCI bus 9, device 9, function 3.

Base System Device Drivers Not Installed
In Device Manger under "Other Devices" there is an entry titled "Base System Device." The message is " The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28). There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver." Also "pci bus 9, device 3, function 2" appears. Needless to say, the "Update Driver Software" nor the Sony Support Website seem to list any drivers. However, everything seems to work but perhaps I haven't used whatever function this driver runs. I'm running a Sony laptop, Model VGN-FW351J. 2.00 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo, 64 kilobyte primary memory cache, 2048 kilobyte secondary memory cache, 64-bit ready, Multi-core (2 total), Not hyper-threaded.Any suggestions to update (or install) the driver will be greatly appreciated.

Base System Device Drivers Not Installed After Win 7 Pro 64 Bit Clean Installation
I've just clean installed Win 7 Pro 64 bit on a Dell Inspiron 640m laptop with Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 processor (original OS was Vista Ultimate). All appears to have gone well but on checking Device Manager there's a Base System Device entry in Other Devices group which is showing an exclamation mark. On opening this entry it shows "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)" Clicking Update Driver and searching the Internet fails to locate a driver. I didn't install an Intel chipset after the Win 7 install (this computer is almost 3 years old and Dell haven't provided a chipset for Win 7 so I'm assuming chipset support is included in Win 7 out of the box).Could anyone advise if the above is likely to cause any significant problems?

HP Tx2-1020US Laptop Unknown Device + BSOD
I have an HP tx2-1020US laptop that I just did a clean install of Windows 7 Build 7100 on. So far, things are working pretty well with the exception of 2 issues. First off, under the device manager, I have an 'unknown device' listed. All of the manufacturer, etc. details are unknown. The only piece of info is the hardware id property which is: USBVID_1B96$PID_0001&REV_0000&MI_02 USBVID_1B96&PID_0001&MI_02 Thus far, I have not been able to find any components which are not working and I have no external USB devices connected to the system. Any ideas how I would go about figuring out what device this is and finding a driver for it? Then, the second issue is that every time I restart or shutdown the system, it flashes a BSOD. It then reboots without any problems and gives me the windows startup screen asking if I want to use safe mode or boot normally. If I boot normally, Windows gives me a pop-up saying the previous shut down was unexpected, but not other details. I have checked the logs and there is nothing in any of the Windows event logs. The BSOD screen lists no driver, dll, or sys file, simply the following string of hex codes. STOP: 0x0000003B (0x00000000C0000046, 0XFFFFF80002A82C4C, 0xFFFFF88008070080, 0X0000000000000000) I found reference to the first 0x0000003Bcode in google relating to video issues, but I have the latest 64-bit Windows 7 driver installed from ATI already. So, can anybody offer any further translation of these codes?

USB Mass Storage Device On A Lenovo T400 Laptop
I have a USB Mass Storage Device (ULTRA 8G) and Windows 7 on a Lenovo T400 laptop. It show up under "Hardware and Devices" but it says "there is a problem with the driver for USB mass storage device. Reinstalling the driver might fix this problem." I click "apply this fix" but after a few seconds it tells me "Not Fixed." I also tried the following with no success: - Plug in and turn on the external USB hard drive - Right mouse click on My Computer - Left click on Manage - Left click on Device Manager - Expand the USB list - Find the USB device for your USB Hard Drive (in my case it was the one that had no description) - Right mouse click - Uninstall - Turn off the external USB hard drive - Turn on the external USB hard drive and let it find and install the drive What do I do? The USB device worked fine on XP but I never tried it on Vista.

HP Pavillion Dv9000 Overheating
I have been using Windows 7 RC 32-bit from the time it was released. I had no issue with the bits. But as soon as I installed the RTM, this time, with 64-bit, my laptop is heating up so soon and fast. The fan is going full-speed but it cannot keep up with the heat. Now it is shutting down at random. Have you had any reports having similar problems like mine? Is there a solution for this? I hate to go back to 32-bit.

Only 1 CPU Showing In Device Mgr. On Dual Socket System
Performed a clean install of Windows 7 Professional on a Dual Socket PIII system with 2 Intel PIII 1ghz processors on Asus motherboard that has a VIA chipset. In the Device Mgr., under the Processors heading, it only lists one Intel Processor. At the least, it should list 2 Intel Processors to reflect the 2 physical processors mounted in the 2 physical CPU sockets. When WinXP Pro SP3 was installed on this same computer, it did show 2 processors in the Device Mgr., and I believe Win 7 should as well. I have several other Dual socket workstations with Windows 7 Pro and Ultimate installed on them, and they show 4 processors in Device Mgr, for the 2 physical and 2 virtual Hyper Threading processors. Does anyone have any idea why only one processor is being detected and/or reflected in the Device Mgr.? Do I need to install some Chipset drivers? Or should Windows 7 have installed drivers for the chipset?

Upgrade From Vista On HP Pavillion PC Dv9000 - Crashes
I've upgraded my HP pavillion dv9000 from Vista to Win 7 Home Premium.  The upgrade appeared to go smoothly, however I now have a number of problems. The first is that it crashes mutiple times per day, usually when no one has been at the machine for hours, I return to find it shut down, when I boot it, it nicely tells me it crashed and asks if it should search for a solution, but never finds anything. The second is that I frequently loose connectivity to other machines and NAS devices on my network. When I reboot, I can access both NAS devices and my other PC on the network, at some point along the way, I can no longer access the other PC or one of the two NAS devices (always the same NAS device.) In the Windows Explorer, I can see the other PC and both NAS devices, but when I try to open them, it hangs.  The other PC can still see both NAS devices as can other devices on my network.Lastly, I can see the printer that is shared from my other PC, but when I send something to the printer, it appears to send correctly, and if look at the printer from the control panel, it tells me it sent a page, but if I open the window for the printer, it shows no documents. Suspect this one is a driver error and couldn't find any win7 drivers for the HP OfficeJet G85. Couldn't find any new win7 drivers for the HP9000 anywhere on the HP site, but I did run the win7 upgrade advisor which said everything would be fine. I was really hoping win 7 was going to get me past 2 years of frustration with vista. Any help would be greatly appreciated before I wipe the machine clean and break out my XP install disks. Â
