HP Pav Dv5 1002nr Wireless Issue
i´ve been beating my head against the wall for 5 days now, and can´t seem to find the solution for this issue..nothing realy worked so far.
Laptop model: HP Pavilion dv5 1002nr
wireless adapter: Atheros Wireless LAN Driver Wireless LAN 802.11a/b/g/n
Problem: Installed win 7 64bits, and wireless is nor functioning, LED is orange too. when I hardwire I can connect to the net though.
Already tried to install all drivers for vista 64 ultimate from HP web, and still no response from the adapter. On device manager it sais its working properly (BS!!!).
Can this be a config problem? or should I try other drivers?

All but 1 drivers were installed for the HP Pavilion dv5-1004nr. The only driver that was missing was the ENE CIR infra-red received. Since it is a Microsoft e-home InfraRed received I think that the driver should be included by default. However, I managed to make it work by installing the Vista driver available.

HP DV5-1002US Performance
Nework connectivity is frequently questionable with frequent disconnects. Tonight I got a BSOD....something I haven't seen since my Windows XP days years ago. In the past 5 days of execution I also had a critical Kernel exception. Waiting for the next set of patches...but I may have to uninstall Windows 7 and move to WIndows XP if this does not resolve soon. I need a stable system and Windows 7 is less stable on this system then Vista has been.

Install On HP DV5 1251nr
I've got a HP DV5 1251 nr laptop. Came with Vista. Has a D:Recovery partition. I did the upgrade install last Friday. Took 3.5 hours. Went smooth. But now I want to do the clean install. I have the Family Home Premium version of 7. My question is; will I be able to pass the compliance check now that I have Win 7 and am basically reinstalling 7. Also, what do I do with my Vista Recovery Partition? Leave it alone? Is the recovery partition involved with the compliance check? I do have a 3DVD set of downloaded HP Recovery discs as well. Also if anyone knows about the SwSetup Directory that has all the HP Software - should I use that or just look for all the HP Win 7 components that apply.

HP DV5 Laptop - Driver Issues
Windows 7 installed without a hitch. After installation of Windows Vista 32-bit drivers it functions perfectly. It appears to be a very peppy system with really neat improvements. Windows One Care live won't install because it does not view Windows 7 as a 'verifiable Microsoft Windows' Operating system. I have been a part of the Windows Feedback Panel for at least 4 maybe 5 years. When Vista was in Beta testing I was chosen by Microsoft to be part of that group. Unfortunately in my view I was testing Vista on a Machine that ran Windows XP very well but was not capable of Hardware rigors of running Windows Vista. I have tried for about the last six months to become part of the Beta testing for Windows 7, especially because I think I might have a better idea of what to do.

HP Pavillion Dv5 1388 N Audio Problem
I purchased an HP Pavillion dv-5 1388n Entertainment Notebook PC. It came with Vista Home, and was deemed compatible for the Windows 7 upgrade, to Home Premium. I received the upgrade disc and installed it this past weekend. The install went smoothly with no errors during the 2+ hour process. All apps worked fine, but I discovered that I can hear no system sounds or play any audio via I-Tunes or Windows Media Player. I have checked the sound properties and all is fine. There are no updates needed for anything and I have tried updating my drivers. I even uninstalled the drivers and restarted the laptop to allow the laptop to find the correct drivers. When I try to play any audio file I get an error "Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file". I tried to update the media and have even tried to download VLC Media Player with no success.

Dell 802.11n Wireless Mini SLOW Wireless
I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 Laptop and stuck windows 7 RTM 32 bit on it. All was well but now connecting wirelessly is slow. Like slower then 56k modem slow. I have a Dell 802.11n wireless mini card installed that works PERFECTLY under windows XP. I was getting 80 % signal strength under Win 7 and getting 1 mbps where as in XP I was getting 78 to 100 mbps with the same signal strength. Oh and ethernet works perfectly fine. For a time I was able to download the corresponding vista driver from dell and then replace the driver that win 7 automatically installs for it, then flipped the card switch off and on and it would work like it should for a while, but then reverted to the same slow network speeds once the laptop was reset or turned off and on. Now flipping the switch or re-installing doesn't work either. I've tried resetting the router, no go and none of my other computers or products have a problem with it. I've tried doing a few things suggested in other posts, like assigning a static ip, disabling ipv6, etc... Nothing has worked. I'd love someone who knows what it may be or has heard of this precise problem, although I think I may be stuck waiting until Win 7 makes it debut in Oct and until Dell releases a proper 7 driver for it. Remember Wireless Key On Non Auto Connect Wireless Networks
I've noticed that if I have a wireless network that I connect to, but not auto-connect, it will ask for the passphrase/key every time I go to connect. This is inconvenient when using a strong (read: long) security key. However, if I check auto-connect then Windows7 will remember the security key. Shouldn't it remember the security key for a particular wireless network once you've connected, regardless of whether you want it to auto-connect or not?

Looking For New Wireless Adapter
Right, I currently have got the Linksys WMP54G PCI adapter. It works fine as I am using the RALINK RT2500 drivers for it. I could not find any official driver to work with Windows 7 x64. Anyway, I have been thinking about getting a new card with 802.11n support. What are your recommendations for a good wireless adapter (preferably PCI) that has good official drivers and support for Windows 7 x64?

The Wireless Connection Problem
It seems that several people (myself included) are having the Win 7 disabling a wireless router issue. I've searched through this forum and see several threads. If anyone has the solution (other than disabling HomeGroups, I kind of like this feature!) can it just be made a sticky so we don't have to search for it?

Wireless Connection Error
Well, i also have the Windows 7. I can connect with Ethernet without any problems. When i atepmt to connect using the wireless Belkin desktop card. i get this problem found by the Windows Network Diagnostics...(Wireless Network Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration) marked as 'not fixed' So i contacted my ISP and once i told them i was running Windows 7, they no longer wanted to help me. (Frontier) I have 3 PCs, 2 with Windows 7 and one with Vista. 1**My gaming PC(Windows 7) is connected via Ethernet and connection is fine. 2**My HP laptop (Win Vista) is connected via wireless, and is working fine. 3**My newest PC(Windows 7) was connected with Ethernet, but we cant deal with the wire hanging off the loft, so i got the Belikin wireless card. It installed fine, and sees my home wireless network, the password is correct, as well as the encryption, and security type. But when trying to connect, i get a "Connecting to the network is tanking longer than usual" followed by a "the connection was unsuccessful" I run the troubleshooter, and first it tells me to reset my router, which i have dine, and it doesnt help, so i go on to diagnose additional problems, and that is when i get the most important problem.....(Wireless Network Connection" doesn't have a valid IP configuration) marked as 'not fixed I read a post by Esparko in this forum, with a very similar problem that was solved by SquonkSC..... Can anyone tell me what is wrong, and how i can fix this plz?

Temperamental Wireless Connection
Just bought a new PC, it came blank, and i have installed windows 7 64x Professional onto it, but am having some problems with the wirless connection. I have a realtek 8185 802.11b/g wireless card. Other system specs listed in my system specs. The issues are as follows: Most annoying: - random slow downs in the connection. just during normal use, i won't be able to load webpages, do any downloads, or loading pages will be extremely slow (1-2 minutes per page, usually with errorrs). will often spontanesouly resolve 5-10mins later, only to occurr again another 5-10 minutes later. No errors reported in the system tray or on using the windows 7 toubleshooter. - about 1/5 times i boot up, it cannot connect to the network, with error message in the system tray. trying to 'troubleshoot problems' cannot fix it. if i restart, usually connects straight away - every couple of days, some sort of error occurs, where the system tray pops up with an error message. troubleshooter is then able to resolve the error. I have updated the driver through windows update. Driver date 10/09/2009. We have 3 other machines (all running xp - 2 old lapotps and one netbook) none of which experieince any issues. During periods of slow/nonexistant connection on the windows 7 machine, the xp machines haver perfect connection. I have tried restarting the router many times, and it doesnt seem to do anything. ALso, dont know if this is related, but my ethernet ports (which i do not use) - Realtek RTL8186/8111 - are reporting errors in the device manager. when i try to update the drivers, thers is an erorr that the update did not fix the issues. My thoughts would be that perhaps there is a loose connection inside the machine itself, but i think that network adapter connects straight into the motherboard? Also, i have two different types of RAM installed (2x 1GB, and 2x 2GG sticks), which people have mentioned may cause some issues (I have problems not being able to come out of 'sleep', and i think the RAM causes this - but this issue doesnt bother me).

Wireless Network Freezes
Running Windows 7 Home Premium, I've experienced this issue about five times in the span of two weeks. When my wireless connection isn't found, sometimes Windows is unresponsive when clicking on the wireless icon near my system clock. It shows either the empty bars with a yellow indicator or the empty bars with a red x. When I try to click and bring up the list of available networks, nothing happens. Even right-clicking doesn't do anything. Explorer has given an error and needed to shut down three of the five times this error has happened. Any idea what could be causing this to happen?

Sometimes the box freezes when Enabling. And yes I have clicked Refresh after I tried to enable. Anyone got clues, there was no problems when I was connecting with Vista.

Enable Wireless Adapter
normally I would not bother you with such a silly question but I just can´t solve the issue. I run Windows 7 ultimate 64bit on a brand new customized machine. Not an upgrade but a clean Installation The problem I have is the following: I upgraded to wireless with D-Link DWA552. I have a Linksys router WRT54G. Installation and driver upgrade went fine. PCI card is correct in device manager en enabled. The issue I have is that I cannot enable the wireless adapter. Ok next step: got another card. Linksys, the a Belkin, the a noname. Always the same issue. Microsoft compatibility center says YES to 64 bit. Installation is easy as it should be but the wireless adapter stays disabled whatever I do. I also restartet WLAN Service, I disabled/enabled the hardware. I appreciate every Info/Tip. btw I did countless wireless installation. Am I missing something?
