Frequent Crashes, BSoD

I recently built a pc for my nephew but had to leave installing windows to him because of a hardware issue (video card was doa, had to ship it back to newegg). Well, we've had problems with it since installing and have even gotten a couple blue screens in the process (error codes below).

The first couple of times he tried to install it he had issues where it would freeze mid install (he eventually got through the install by switching to a ps/2 mouse and keyboard instead of usb, for whatever reason this worked). After installing though he said he has had problems with seemingly random crashes. I had him make sure all drivers were installed, but I suspect we are still having some sort of hardware issue (possibly the mobo?). Can anyone help with the blue screen error reports below:

Blue Screen, Frequent Crashes
The crashes started almost immeditately after I got this computer, in January 2009. They have steadily got worse, until the last few weeks it has been several times a day. My dad is into computers, and has worked with me the last few weeks, even taking it to his house for a day or so. We thought a clogged heatsink might have been the problem, but I don;t think it is.

5-6 errors usually follow within a couple minutes, they are:

Event Log Event ID 1000--Previous shutdown was unexpected.

Critical Error: Kernel-Power--41--The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first.

Atikmdag--52236---CPLIB--General--Invalid Parameter

Atikmdag--43029--Display not active

Service Control Manager--7009--A timeout was reached (30000 miliseconds) while waiting for lxdnCATScustConnectService service to connect

Service Control Manager--7000--The lxdnCATScustConnectService failed to start due to the floowing error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

This is the order the errors come in. We have ran diagnostics, dad has checked hardware, I am completely loss on this. Kernel-Power is the only critical error I get.

Win 7 X64 Frequent Crashes / Reboots
I recently built a new PC and installed Win 7 Ultimate RC on it.  It constantly crashes/reboots itself when using the Windows UI.  It seems to be fine in Safe Mode.  When I say using the Windows UI I mean using a browser (tried IE and Chrome) as well as just browsing through control panel or typing a search into a browser search box.

Frequently the display driver crashes or the UI gets slight distorted again like the display driver is having issues.  I tried to stress test it by running Fallout 3 for an hour and had no problems.

Frequent Crashes / Blue Screen Errors
I have been using Windows 7 for the past 10 days. As a part of the testing, i have installed multiple softwares in the system. Most of them are Microsoft recommended. None of them are heavy one's. But off late i have been seeing that windows crashes every few minutes. Every time its some blue screen error message.

The first few days, it was very stable, but now, these frequent crashes are very annoying. I hope there is some solution.

**  My windows is completely updated. The AVG antivirus running is also updated.

I have been getting a BSOD freqently over the past day or so. It occurs roughly every four hours, though not in any pattern. I have not noticed anything on my part causing the error.

WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR BSOD Crashes
I'm getting regular (every hour or so) BSOD crashes with the following details:

This was likely caused by the following module: hardware

Bugcheck code: 0x124 (0x0, 0xFFFFFA80047BE038, 0xB2000040, 0x800)
Error: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR

I run Vista x64 with a 100% stable system that I've extensively stress tested so I know there is no 'real' hardware issue.

Am I correct in assuming this is a driver issue? If so, is there any way I can isolate the driver?

Constant BSoD Crashes
'Hanging onto Windows XP? See what you're missing.', says Windows 7 ad...

Sorry for this dramatic intro, but those BlueScreens have become too frustrating, and they are everything I'd been missing before. My machine is less than 3 years old. From the beginning I have XP onto it.

Then, I installed Vista, but after experiencing constant crashes (BSoD), I downgraded it back to XP. Recently, I decided to give Windows 7 a chance. Before that, I ran Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor just to be sure, and everything passed OK. All the devices were rated as compatible, just as my system (AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual 4600+, 2.41 GHz, 1 GB of RAM; Radeon X1600 graphic...).

I installed fresh copy of Windows 7, but the same thing is happening - BSod, BSod, BSoD and BSod only - up the 5 minutes after Login. Just like that! I have only updates and drivers over Microsoft update installed. Nothing else! This are only six crash analysis (of many) within past week:

BSOD - I Had Been Having Regular Crashes
Hey Tom's! I hope everyone is well. I'm returning to the community with a problem I was having before. I have just upgraded from Windows 7 RC to Win 7 32 bit Enterprise Edition with no problems. Did a fresh install and had it formatted.

Just got my first BSOD/crash, and I had been having regular crashes (about once every 4-5 days) I don't think it's hardware related, probably driver, so I was hoping people could help narrow it down and kill this problem for good.

Here's the text of the BSOD:

BSOD: Pc Crashes Once In A While , With Blue Screens And Reboot
The pc crashes once in a while , with blue screens and reboot. I had the same prob with winxp so i installed Windows 7 supposing that restarts would stop...But nothing.. So far i have done these:

remove the tick on "automatically restart" -> (so i could see the blue screen..

update drivers, with device manager and driver genius -> nothing

update bios from asus website -> nothing

do check disk -> nothing

defrag -> nothing

usb legacy support disabled from bios (smwhere read that)->nothing

sptd.sys fixed -> nothing

Rc task disabled (read that too) -> nothing

sleep and hibernation set to never - >nothing

run memtest (3.5) but i have difficulties because when it starts testing (single cpu or multiple) at test 2 and 45% reboots. when i choose to run memtest previous version (3.4) it recognizes cpu as pentium 3 and completes the test with 10 errors at test 5.

I noticed that asus set to my memories timings 5-5-5-12 and voltage 1,8 , so i put timings 4-4-4-12 and voltage 2.2 (manufacture had these timings although gives voltage 2.0)

Okay. Basically the error happens within minutes of logging into the game. The application either locks up and renders everything useless or it causes a BSOD(error states that a required windows service ended or was shut down)

NVidia Display Drivers (9800 GT) Constant BSOD Crashes
Since I've installed windows 7 64 bit I have been receiving constant BSOD crashes sometimes over 5 times a day. I researched around and found a program called blue screen view to log my crashes and kind of saw that the nvidia drivers were causing the blue screens most of the time however other drivers cause it too sometimes.

When I uninstall my nvidia 9800 gt driver that windows update installs my computer runs fine with no crashes. However when I let it install the driver or install a new driver over that one it always crashes.

If I uninstall the driver and then try and reinstall just the new driver I get an error every time saying that the NVidia setup doesnt recognize my hardware and the setup will exit. So I cannot even install the new drivers without windows update installing it first.

I have been reading a lot of similar stories where people with NVidia cards are having BSOD crashes constantly. Microsoft and NVidia you really need to fix this because my computer is pretty much unusable for the past few weeks now. Any one have any fixes or ideas how to fix this problem?

Frequent System Freezes
If there's already a thread concerning this issue I apologize for reposting but there's just too many questions to look through.

Since I installed Windows 7 RC I've been experienceing total systemfreezes frequently. My laptop won't win any awards for it's hardwarepreformance so maybe it's a CPU or RAM -related problem, but I thought I should ask to see if anyone else has experienced this.

The problem occurs when I work with two windows (or more) open, one of them has often been Mozilla Firefox 3. The computer freezes after a link is clicked or when I scroll through a site, but also from just enlarging a window from the taskbar.

This results in me having to force shut-down and reboot. I don't know how accurate the RAM/CPU preformance -gadget is, but according to it my computer runs smoothly, hence my suspicion of the RC being the cause.

Frequent Blue Screens
My computer worked fine at 6 this morning, then I shut it down and turned it back on a few hours later and it ran disk check (I assume it actually crashed while shutting down the first time, I didn't watch it). After the disk check it started fine, then I opened Firefox and I got a blank blue screen and it restarted. This time I ran the start up tools, and it crashed again during those.

I booted into XP for a bit, then decided to try again, skipped the start up tools, and it worked fine for a while before crashing again. I rebooted, started it normally, then copied some files to an external hard drive (figured if I wanted to get anything done I'd need to use XP as it doesn't seem to be having problems), and when I unplugged the drive it happened again.

I haven't changed anything since it was working fine, all I did during the last working boot was a little programming and web surfing, I haven't changed anything, no new hardware/software, etc. so I have no idea what's causing it.

Using a Toshiba Satellite L35-S2161, 2 GB RAM, Intel Celeron M CPU, Dual boot XP/Windows 7

Frequent / Infrequent Locking Up Of The Computer
My computer seems to lock up after it starts accessing the hard drive for sometime. Right now i think the problem is with the hard drive as the HDD light from my case is on whenever it locks up.

So Far: I have updated all the driversThe computer has locked up so far on the game TF2, Windows Media Center when playing back recorded media and once in Firefox 3.0I have already turned off sleep on my hard drive which was only a temporary fix...

I have a Seagate ST31500341AS which i heard that it may have firmware problems, but checking the seagate support site, it doesn't seem so that the problem relies with the firmware problem...

Finally i happened to encounter a BSOD for a physical dump, but seems to not have registered with the windows event logger...So is there anything else that can be done or is this just hopeless?

Frequent BSods, Cannot Access Minidump Files
I recently upgraded my Dell XPS M1530 laptop from Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 64-bit. It worked well for the first few days, but now I'm getting BSoDs left and right. Every time the BSoD has appeared, its only been up for maybe 3 seconds before it goes blank. I believe the error message I have been getting most often has been the "Kernel Data Inpage Error",

but the screen usually comes up and disappears so quickly that I do not have enough time to copy down the error message or error number. I would upload my minidump, but for some reason I am being denied access. I have admin privileges and am on the only user account for this computer, so I am unsure of why this is happening as well.

Frequent CPU Spikes To 100% While Idle
Overall I've been fairly impressed with Windows 7, but an issue has popped up that's causing me quite a headache. At random intervals, my CPU speed goes up to around 100%, and becomes unusable. It happens regardless of what I'm doing, and what programs happen to be open.

I've tried monitering the processes causing it, yet strangely when it happens the resource manager doesn't say which process is hogging the CPU. The only events that are ever logged are ones stating that the computer had been restarted without properly shutting it down.

One possible clue: when said processor spikes happen, the network status indicator says that I only have "limited connectivity".

I've tried updating all of my drivers, with no relief.

I'm running an AMD Kuma dual core processor, 4gigs of ram, geforce 9800gtx graphics, and am using windows 7 build 7100 (x64).

Random / Frequent Freeze / Lockup / Hanging Pc
When using my PC (Windows 7 RC) for desktop work or playing games (e.g. World of Warcraft) my PC will eventually lockup. The mouse and keyboard are unresponsive and the PC never manages to get going again (even after a few hours).

I suspect my motherboard's built-in Wi-fi is the problem (very hard getting drivers to install under compatability mode and then setup correctly). My PC has many relatively recent / current components, and is incredibly stable under Win XP. Are any particular components known to be incompatible with Win 7?

Frequent Freezing - Media Play Not Responding
whenever i try and play any type of media file (mp3, mp4, wmv, etc) in either windows media player, or the zune software, the file will not play. in wmp i will double click a song or video and wmp will go "not responding", in zune it just doesn't play. if i click on the file in windows explorer, after a few seconds a window will popup and give me the C: location of the file and underneath will say "server execution failed"

this also happens when i try and play any flash games online or watch videos on youtube, in both ie and firefox, the browser will go "not responding" but works fine when im not doing those mentioned above.

when i restart my computer it will fix it for maybe an hour and it will start again.

basically my computer locks up when i try to play any type of media file and i have no idea why, i thought of reinstalling windows 7 but i thought i would see if anyone could help me out first, thanks in advance.

EXPLORER.EXE Crashes, MMC.EXE Crashes, Moviemaker.exe Error
I want to love Win7 so badly, but this is just crazy. I'm about to go back to good old XP, simply for the stability. I'm about fed up with Windows 7 after only using it for two weeks. Off of a brand new and formatted clean install, with only Norton NIS 2010, Itunes, Adobe Reader, and Firefox 3.5.7 installed, I get constant explorer.exe crashes.

Shortly followed by an mmc.exe crash, then it just gets caught up in a never-ending explorer.exe crash that only a reboot resolves, for a short time. All drivers are up to date, and all Win 7 updates have been applied.

I've even formatted and re-installed Win7 only to have explorer begin crashing a day later. This is all on a stock Dell Inspiron 545 quad core, 8GB RAM, etc. I'm very tech savvy and am about jump off of the Win 7 bandwagon. Maybe the Apple Mac commercials are correct, another fumbled attempt at a stable OS from Microsoft?

After extensive reading, it appears that many others are suffering through this ____ also. Some get it while attempting to right click any icon, some when launching apps, some, like me , for no apparent reason at all. I don't ever get the BSOD, but the computer is essentially non-functional due to explorer restarting all the time.

I've done a ton of reading and have tried sfc /scannow, which found no errors. I've tried shellexview, to no avail for the context handlers. I've uninstalled and re-installed all non-MS apps. I've tried everything that I've read, and it eventually starts crashing again. It is very random, and I can find no patterns that cause the explorer crashing.

It works for two days, then goes haywire. Sometimes it only works for an hour before the explorer crashes begin. And yes, this is a fully licensed and legal copy of Win 7 Pro that I purchased through CDW. A side note, this computer ran WIN XP perfectly. All hardware has been tested and is perfect. If anyone has found a fix for this issue, then please chime in! Below are the errors that populate the Event Viewer:

Frequent 'Not Responding' On Applications
Recently I have started having programs exhibit 'Not Responding' episodes (program becomes unresponsive for 3-30 seconds and that displays in the title bar) that have been widely reported here. I've noticed these problems mostly in Firefox and Thunderbird.

In Firefox, I will be using the mouse wheel to scroll down a long page, and the browser will pause randomly as I move down the page. If I click try to access the window, I see the 'Not Responding' in the title bar, and the cursor shows the 'wait' circle. Then it recovers and operates normally.

Also note that I have used this system for well over a year with the same hardware configuration under Windows XP and never had any issues.

I had installed Windows 7 on this system several weeks back and it has been working fine, not exhibiting any hint of 'Not Responding' problems. I HAD NOT gotten to the point where I installed an antivirus program during that period. A few days ago I installed Microsoft Security Essentials and I first started experiencing the issue.

I reverted back to a drive image I had made before the installation of the antivirus and the problem went away. I spent a day or so without antivirus again, and the issue did not reappear. I decided to try a different antivirus, and installed Avira AntiVir. Low and behold, the problem immediately reappeared.

I disabled the AntiVir Guard live checking function and the problem seems to have gone away again. It seems to me as if Windows 7 is causing these 'Not Responding' stalls based on its interaction with the live antivirus checking. Can anyone confirm this? Note it might not be enough to disable the antivirus, it seems to help with AntiVir but did not help with MS Security Essentials (problem persisted).

Crashes When Loading Up Certain Programmes
Ive just installed Windows 7 on my machine. Running an AMD dual core 3800+ with 4.0DDR2 and GForce 9750GT

On the initial installation, just before you have the option to set up user name- the screen went all blue with lots on small black horizontal line across. It hung for a few mins and eventually I had to manually re-start. Off to a great start!!

Anyway once it re-booted and after it had checked for the intial first use and graphics, I managed to get in to the system and successfully load onto the desktop. Continued through windows update and there was some updates for my graphics cards. After this I went to Nvidia's site and downloaded the 124mb file Windows 7 64 bit file.

All this downloaded and installed ok, however, whenever I try to open a media file, Windows media centre it'self and msn messenger, the screen freezes and seems un recoverable. I haven't installed any other programes yet, but I can only assume it's something to do with the graphics card?

remember this happened before I managed to even load the OS propperly for the first time...does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be at all and a possible solution?
