Foreign Language Support
I notice in the compare section on Windows 7 it has "Work in the language of your choice and switch between any of 35 languages" as a feature available only in Windows7 Ultimate. Does this mean that Home Premium and Professional will not allow me to work in a language besides English if I don't have Ultimate?

Support Japanese Language
I've downloaded and installed Windows 7 RTM. Every thing is OK, but my Windows 7 doesn't support Japanese, Chinese and Korean language. When I open file or visit website that have that language, they can display. I also want to type Japanese in this version, but I cann;t find the Windows IME.

Multi Language Support In Win 7
I'm planning to buy a new PC with Windows 7 (English) and not sure what version I should buy. I need to be able to switch into Japanese language mode for writing Word documents and composing/reading email sometimes. I do not need the desktop, menus etc. to be displayed in Japanese, however. I've found some info on the Internet and MS web site but still confused: 1) I have read that LIPs can be installed on any version of Win 7 but looks like Japanese must be installed as a full install (no parent language). If this is the case, can I setup 2 user accounts and configure one for English and the other for Japanese? 2) Do I need to have Win 7 Ultimate or Enterprise edition to do what I want to do?

Thai Language Support In XP Mode
The XP mode asked for the XP service pack 3 disk. So I did. It installed it, but then I don't see the Thai language as installed. So I'm wondering if there's like a download I can do instead? In my XP sp3 computer I know it has thai in there but for the XP mode virtualization it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas what I did wrong?Or is it just not supported in the XP mode?

Difference Between Language
Does anybody here was able to see the difference between a Windows 7 installation disk in another language than English and a Windows 7 installed in English + a language pack (MUI)? Personally, I don't see any. But I think my MUI (French) is still incomplete because there is some places in Windows which are still in English. Note: The question is valid for any language.

Run Different Language Programs
How do i keep the OS in English, but run another program as a different language There should be an option to have a program always run as a set language I would like to be able to run an English, Japanese and Korean program side by side, not reset the computer just to run one app. I Know about applocal, but some times it does not cut it and the program fails to run properly. Windows should let me run a program from any country, not just one at a time.

Keep Changing Language Into Portuguese
I have just purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium installed on it. I chose Traditional Chinese as the system language when I activated the Windows. Everything went smoothly until I shut down and restart the machine. The system automatically update itself and install Portuguese as the default language. I can't do anything about this but recover the system and so keep losing the softwares or other updates that I have installed.

I tried to upgrade my computer to Windows7, but it says that an other language is not possible. When I read the dixtionary files online then I red that it is still possible with some extra actions. Is this true or do I red it wrong?

Language Packs For W7 - Import From VISTA
Anybody know if during the RC other language packs will be available. If not could I "Poodlefake" or Backport the language packs from the VISTA system. I'd like to try the Icelandic pack so some of our "Normal" i.e non technical users back home can check / try Windows 7. (Of course they all speak excellent English -- like most Scandanavian countries English is a mandatory language in Schools here and even as adults around 90% here speak it fluently but it would be nice to test Windows 7 in a "Working environment" away from the IT testing areas to see how it performs in day to day work. (Maybe not 100% mission critical stuff but for reasonably robust office situations).

Disabling Language Bar Via Registry
Because my locale is Portugal, the language bar appears on the taskbar. This is something my enterprise didn't want, so I needed to disable it for all user. For this to work you'll need to: .: Navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftCTFLangBar] .: If LangBar key doesn’t exist, create it .: Inside LangBar create a new DWORD called “ShowStatus" .: Set the ShowStatus value to 3 Of course that to apply this to all users, you should create a script (ex.: vbscript) loading the Default User hive.

Can't Do An Upgrade Install - Different Language
I'd like to do an upgrade install of Windows 7 Beta. Unfortunately, my current OS (Vista Ultimate 64) is in Italian, thus I cannot upgrade. I even tried to install the English language pack and I made sure to set the language in English. The problem is I cannot uninstall the Italian language as Windows tells me that it's the system language. Is there any way to make Windows think that English is the default language of my computer? I really don't want to make a clean install.

Language Switching Details For Windows 7
Is Language Switching on the fly or do you have to reboot? Are all components of the OS in the selected foreign language, including help screens, applets, error messages, and connections to the internet "suggested" by the OS such as updates from Microsoft Update in the foreign language?. Are third party software updates, such as Adobe Reader, running in the foreign language all done in dialog boxes running the foreign language?    I can't really find a good site that answers all the language questions I see all over the internet. Where can I get all the details on exactly what is Language Switching.Â

Program Files In Local Language Versions
Switching over from a Swedish language XP system I'm utterly frustrated with Windows 7 (Ultimate + Sedish language pack). The localized version of both sytems replaces the "Program Files" folder with a "Program" folder. In XP that causes no trouble, 95% of all applications happily install themselves into "Program" and run ok there, the few exeptions insist on creating a "Program files" folder but then run happily there. Not so in Win 7. On the system disk there is a "Program" folder and at least some programs install themselves there, and run ok there. But, if you create a shortcut to a program the shortcut is pointing at C:Program files and changing it to C:Program.. causes an error message when trying to activate the program. This becomes rather confusing when you yourself have to create shortcut addresses. Some programs have exactly the opposite problem, for example WinZip is on one hand unable to extract a zip file to C:Program files as it cannot find the folder (altough explorer clearly sees such a folder) and on the other hand creates a new, extra, C:Program folder if told to extract to that folder. So then there are two "Program" folders, one pointed at by %ProgramFiles% and another one not pointed at! Some other programs have the same kind of problems. What is going on here? Have I missed some step in the language pack installation or has MS managed to break a system that worked perfectly well in XP for years? Has anyone had similiar problems with other language packs?

Programs To Change Win7 Language Into Chinese
I'm looking for a program which translates the OS(programs etc) into chinese. I understand that language package is only available for windows 7 ultimate but the cost is too extreme. The computer is a present(dell inspiron 17) I want to give to a friend but they are not very literate in ENglish so I was hoping there were alternative programs I can install to change the language settings. I'm also aware there are windows 7 chinese versions but that too costs alot to purchase.

Upgrade Vista To Win7 - Changing Language
I am living in Beijing, China at present and am about to buy a new Lenovo Ideapad Laptop. This comes with Windows Vista Home Premium Preinstalled (Chinese Version). I then intend to use the Free Windows 7 Upgrade Program to acquire Eglish language media It is clear in Microsoft's documentation that this is not a supported upgrade path. However, assuming I can get Lenovo to provide the English Language Windows 7 upgrade media, I should be able to do a clean install as per Doing a Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version and Paul Thurrot's Method. In fact this would be the method for achieving any unsupported upgrade path, eg: Vista 32 -> 7 64 Vista 64 -> 7 32 Chinese Vista -> English 7 Can anyone confirm that this is true, particularly for the language upgrade.

Upgrade Vista Ultimate To Windows 7 - OS Language
My Notebook comes from the U.S. with Vista Ultimate. Now I want to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate here in Europe. I heard that an in-place upgrade to Windows 7 is only possible within the same language (e.g. EN-US). Now I worry that I'll buy the wrong Win 7 version. I know that my current Vista Ultimate is English, but how to find out which one (could be British as well)? Ist there a native OS language at all besides the language I set in the "regional and language options" in the control panel? And is this important at all? As far as I know Windows 7 Ultimate supports 35 languages, so does it matter at all as long as I accept to install Win 7 in the same language like my Vista is?
