View 20 RepliesMy lap top is only 2 month old, I have kept it in great condition, not downloading tons or random movie and music files. It has been running perfectly. It is a Windows 7 HP Probook 4530s.Today my friend and I were downloading Java to play minecraft. The download went ok, and I proceed to boot up the minecraft program. When the program loaded the computer began lagging horribly. I quickly ended the program and attempted to restart it, the program ran with the same horrible lag.So I ended the program, but my computer was still lagging, all programs I attempted to run took for ever to start up, and when they did they froze. I restarted the laptop and after all the programs started up, I attempted to run Firefox, and it loaded, then froze, as did all other programs, I had to force the computer off. I spent the rest of the day cleaning up the computer, deleting old program files, music, I ran multiply disk clean ups, and attempted to defrag the hard drive. But these programs all froze.I restarted and ran in Safe Mode, and it worked fine, all the programs loaded and nothing froze. Me and my friend worked on it all day, finally we found out that the Minecraft program had installed wrong, or something like that, THe program files were installed in the wrong place. We deleted those file and restarted the computer. It started up, and All programs functioned for a while, and the lag was gone, it all ran smoothly, then maybe two minutes later everything freezes.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've used Window Vista for a short time before changing to Windows 7 64-bits by upgrading it from Vista. After I've upgrade to Windows 7, all programs seem working well without any problem. (I've tried downloaded the driver for Windows 64 bits and upgrade/update everything I can like Windows 7 or the latest printer driver)
But when I try to print any document from any program or browser, it take very long time (around 10-30 minutes) before the printer start to print .
And before the printing if I try to adjust any option via printer properties in the printing screen of any program, it take a long time (more than 3 minutes) and most of the time it has 'NO RESPONDING' in the program and I cannot do anything with it (but if I wait for a long time, it will show up like nothing wrong).
I've tried using notebook with Windows 7 32-bits, but it has NO problem at all.
I've ask EPSON in my country and they only prove that it works fine with Windows 7 64-bits (and send the document for me). But my problem still exists and I have no idea how can I find out the cause or fixing it.
Anyone has some suggestions for me?
Can you assist me to resolve the issue of an extremely slow keyboard response? I am using Windows 7 on a laptop.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOne night I turned it on to check my email, something went wrong but I don't remember what.Anyway, I rebooted it manually and it took forever to start again.fter the starting windows screen it was just black forever. Eventually it did turn on after like 5 minutes but things didn't work well. Here's a list of problems i'm experiencing:When you drag your cursor over an icon or a taskbar icon it takes a minute for the cursor to to highlight it.Any program you do manage to click on takes forever to start. Some programs don't start at all, windows live mail tells you it can't start because there isn't enough memory left and you sholuld check your hard drive. I know there is plenty of memory left, there isn't much on that computer.
I can't do system restore, there are no restore dates available and when you try to create one it says it can't because the computer responded too slow.I can't back up my system, that also tells me the program responded too slow.AVG free virus scanner (installed after this started) can't find any virus or spyware.Advanced system care 4 (Installed after this started) found plenty of troubles and said it fixed them but everything is still broken and functioning incredibly slow.Internet works but it is slow.Every now and again the icons and start menu dissapear and come back whenever they feel like it.
I am running a legacy program in XP Mode (Adobe Pagemaker 7.0). When I need to save a document, usually to a Windows 7 drive, it takes a very long time to do so - unless I move the mouse pointer within the window. I know this sounds strange but I've confirmed this behavior many times.
I'm guessing that moving the mouse generates an IRQ which temporarily gives the XP mode process higher priority. If it is a large file which takes longer to save, I can observe the save process speed way up when moving the mouse and slow way down when I stop.
Is there some setting somewhere to speed up the process without the mouse movement - my hand is getting tired.
Unfortunately i'm not an expert in Microsoft Access 2010, but i've come across a problem with one of my databases that is running on a Windows 7 computer. The problem is that when the database runs, it has a very very slow response time yet if I copy it to another Windows 7 or XP computer the response time is fast.So far I have updated the computer with Windows 7 updates, and modified the registry buffer size to 50000 in the Access Connectivity Engine setting, but the Microsoft Access database is still very slow
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy computer has just slowed down to a crawl. It happened when I got home from being out of town for a few days, before I left, my computer was just fine, my computer has an AMD Athlon II 2.80 GHz, 4 CPU cores. 4 GB of RAM, ATI Radeon graphics card etc. What it is doing is, it goes through the BIOS just like it's always been, then, when it is about to start windows, it just goes to a black screen for about 30 seconds, then "Starting Windows" comes up for like 5 minutes without anything there, then after a while, the windows logo comes on top of the "Starting WIndows" and it just hangs. I also have an Ubuntu OS installed on a separate Hard drive on the computer if that helps diagnose the problem,I also tried starting Ubuntu also, same thing, slow as hell. It is a custom made computer made by me about a year and a half ago, never had any problems until just now. As I am typing this now my computer is still hanging at the "Start Windows" screen for roughly about 20 minutes.
View 1 Replies View Relatedmy computer has been extremely slow. I tried uninstalling programs, rebooting, updating, shutting down processes and basically a lot of stuff. I think thee first time it started being slow was after a windows error recovery. Since then I have had about 3 more error recoveries, and from what I can remember it showed a black screen stating that "the system has been shut down to prevent damage" or something like that. Another thing I can remember was it saying something like "pool error".I'm usually patient with my computer and just wait for it to load, even though the computer shouldn't take this long to do anything considering that it's a pretty good computer and still not very old. But now I can't take it anymore! It's unbelievably slow and I am VERY lucky just to be able to use the internet and type this post right now.I originally thought there was a problem with my browser (Google Chrome) so I tried using rockmelt instead because I liked the chrome interface. Rockmelt actually worked better than Chrome for a while but then started being almost as slow, plus, changing browsers isn't gonna fix all the programs, they were just as slow too.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Eee PC that came with Windows 7 Starter. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate because I hated the restrictions with Starter. Everything went just fine. Now it is so slow when I get on the internet that it times out. I don't even bother playing games on my favorite sites. It is just no fun anymore. I am more of a hardware person than software and I am lost. I don't even know where to start. I am on wireless and don't know what settings should be. I'm sure it's probably something really simple and I'm going to feel like an idiot but at this point I'll look the fool if I can fix this.
View 3 Replies View RelatedFor the last year or so my USB ports have been running really slowly.I'm almost positive they are supposed to be USB 2.0 but I can never get speeds of more than 4mbps. This happens when I'm transferring one 4gb file, or a folder of mp3s. It happens when using a flash drive, using an external hard drive, using an SD card (or microSD) with adapter, or when plugged directly into MP3 player or Android Tablet. So I guess I have a few questions: How do I check to make sure my ports are USB 2.0 and have the correct drivers? Am I overreacting to normal speeds or is 4mbps as slow as I think it is and if it really is slow does anybody have any suggestions for solving the problem?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSince installing Windows 7 all of my USB ports are ridiculously slow, USB 1.0 speeds at best.
I did not have this problem at all with XP, so it is not hardware related.
It is affecting a variety of devices, so no single one is to blame.
I guess on the plus side, my iPhone can almost get a full charge in the ~hour it takes to sync.

My CPU is Intel Core 2 Dou E4400 2.0GHz. The diskdrive, graphic card, Operating system, and RAM were all upgrades, including the power supply, which is a Dynex DX-520WPS.Everything else I had for about five years. The motherboard and CPU are next to replace, pending money.Buy I also have my old diskderive connected, with my old OS still on it. Because my Win7 x64 OS runs like 10x slower than my old Window XP 32 bit I continue to use it until all my critical programs are installed, and my new Windows 7 run better than it is now. After I installed Windows 7, it started out running slower than a turtle. It does EVERYTHING slow! I tried shutting down background processes but I don't know which to close. I ended up losing my internet and sound so I restarted most of the processes. I wand to add 4GB more of RAM but if my old XP can run smooth with only 2GB then it's probably not a RAM issue. What can I do to make the thing run "normal?"

Ihave called Wild Blue three times, and literally, after ten minutes they hang up on me. I bought a group of people from India that will fix everything! for 166 dollars. They tried the best. all that happened isthat they took me off of being ghe Administrator so that they can get in into my computer(I won't mention their name). My router is Airport Express, which up until now it has ran flawlessly. I have reset router. No joy.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Inspire 5736Z laptop which I mostly use for browsing the internet and playing some games. It still has 100gb free on the hard drive, and 3gb of ram. I have had it about 10 months. Yesterday a game I was playing crashed, and around the same time a Spybot pop-up appeared which said:
Category: Session manager
Change: Value deleted
Entry: BootExecute
Old data: autocheck autochk *
New data: [greyed out]
I was unable to click Allow Change or Deny Change because the laptop had frozen. I waited several minutes and tried to shut the game down using Task Manager processes, but nothing worked. In the end I shut it down by holding down the power button. When I restarted the laptop was going extremely slowly. I'm talking 5-10 minutes to open a blank Notepad. I don't know if it's to do with the Spybot message or if I damaged something by restarting in that way. This is what I have done so far. It is all guesswork on my part so I don't know if it was pointless:
- Started in safe mode. Everything runs very quickly. I started up my usual background programs one by one: Avast, Spybot, ZoneAlarm, iTunes, Audible download manager and OpenOffice. It still ran quickly.
- Ran CCleaner and deleted unncessary files, but it only amounted to about 400mb.
- Performed an Avast scan. Came up clean.
- Performed a Spybot scan. It reached the end and then froze before showing the results.
- Tried to use Spyboy's recovery but I think the CCleaner deleted those files because there was no recovery data :/
- Uninstalled the game that crashed, and other programs that I no longer use.
- Started again in normal mode, still going painfully slow there.
Starting a couple weeks ago, my computer started bogging down most of the time. When this happens, the CPU usage is almost always at 100% according to the CPU monitor in the Task Manager. Sometimes it gets to the point where I can't even type a web address because I can only type one character every 3 or 4 seconds.I have tried scanning for malware with Spybot. It found a few things but nothing that wasn't coded "green". I changed my antivirus software from MSE to Avast. No real difference. I even tried installing Linux (using the Windows install program), hoping that would at least give me faster Internet access. But that got bogged down pretty much the same as Windows does, so I'm assuming it's a hardware issue of some kind.I have Windows 7 with SP1, 500GB hard drive, 2GB RAM.It's a home built computer so there's no brand or model number. I have an ECS 945P-A motherboard with a Celeron 3.3GHz CPU.

for some unknown reason my Floppy drive runs very, very slow on 64bit Windows 7. Takes about a minute to open an office XL file, and longer to close it... a lot longer. Even after the file is closed, the floppy light is still on an clicking, like it's reading the disc still. The drive itself is OK. I've got XP Pro on the same PC and the floppy is like lightning on XP. Also tried updating drivers, but it says it's got the best drivers available, and that it's working OK. So what the heck is it?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have one Windows 7 machine that I use as a "server" in my home (it's Windows 7 ultimate, with a shared drive).
I'm not a novice, but I am having a strange problem with it. MOST of the time pulling data off that machine through the shared drive is VERY slow. This is a relatively new development.
For example, I connect to it from my work PC downstairs (they are on the same subnet). there is significant latency when I browse folders on it, and copying files off of it is not really possible. I also use RDesktop to control it once in a while, and screen redraws take 20-30 seconds.
On the other hand, if I go up there and RDesktop back in the other direction, everything appears fine. So it appears to only be Upload; also it looks like it's only a local problem, as when I run internet speedtests I get 7Mb upload from it.
I know what you are thinking: Check the router. So I went ahead and swapped in a known-good 1GB switch. Same problem. So it's on the PC side of things.
It's a new system with a new motherboard, so I am not sure if this is a software issue. I am ready to get a new network adapter, but I was hoping that wasn't necessary. (I am about to go try a wireless adapter and see how that works).
