Explorer Crashes Constantly

I did an upgrade from vista home premium x64 to Windows 7 home premium a couple weeks ago and ever since, my Windows Explorer crashes at least 15-20 times a day.  Sometimes it happens when I am in Explorer, sometimes some other application will crash and I'll see the little window saying that Windows Explorer has stopped working and is looking for a solution to the problem (but there never is one).

I have an HP e9150t desktop  (product: NY810AV#ABA) with a i7 920 processor, 6 GB RAM that is just six months old. I have an Nvidia GTS250 graphics card.  All drivers and software versions are up to date.

Outlook 2007 Constantly Crashes
Been searching all over and cannot find any answers. Hopefully you all can help.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 RTM on a Dell Studio XPS 13 with 6GB of RAM, NO paging file.

This was an upgrate from Vista Home Premium 64 (came with the machine), that was freshly installed (complete factory restore).

Did the upgrade and then installed Office 2007 clean. And, yes have Office 2007 SP2 installed.

I have minimal add-ins.

I use Imap access to 3 mailboxes.

One goes to Fastmail and the other 2 to Gmail. Seems that no matter which account I open mail from, the darn app just closes with the standard windows error message, then "looking" for solutions and then restarts.

Most of the time I just cancel it and re-open Outlook manually. Granted, I'm on some really crappy Internet connections, but most of the time, I have to run Outlook in safe-mode.

Any ideas?

Explorer.exe Freezes CONSTANTLY
I've been using 7137 for a long time, and I haven't had any problems with it until yesterday. I'll be doing normal stuff, like using Chrome, etc. When I try and click an icon on my taskbar, nothing happens. I get the blue spinning wheel.

To add, I can't even use keyboard shortcuts to open up Run, Task Manager, and more.

EXPLORER.EXE Crashes, MMC.EXE Crashes, Moviemaker.exe Error
I want to love Win7 so badly, but this is just crazy. I'm about to go back to good old XP, simply for the stability. I'm about fed up with Windows 7 after only using it for two weeks. Off of a brand new and formatted clean install, with only Norton NIS 2010, Itunes, Adobe Reader, and Firefox 3.5.7 installed, I get constant explorer.exe crashes.

Shortly followed by an mmc.exe crash, then it just gets caught up in a never-ending explorer.exe crash that only a reboot resolves, for a short time. All drivers are up to date, and all Win 7 updates have been applied.

I've even formatted and re-installed Win7 only to have explorer begin crashing a day later. This is all on a stock Dell Inspiron 545 quad core, 8GB RAM, etc. I'm very tech savvy and am about jump off of the Win 7 bandwagon. Maybe the Apple Mac commercials are correct, another fumbled attempt at a stable OS from Microsoft?

After extensive reading, it appears that many others are suffering through this ____ also. Some get it while attempting to right click any icon, some when launching apps, some, like me , for no apparent reason at all. I don't ever get the BSOD, but the computer is essentially non-functional due to explorer restarting all the time.

I've done a ton of reading and have tried sfc /scannow, which found no errors. I've tried shellexview, to no avail for the context handlers. I've uninstalled and re-installed all non-MS apps. I've tried everything that I've read, and it eventually starts crashing again. It is very random, and I can find no patterns that cause the explorer crashing.

It works for two days, then goes haywire. Sometimes it only works for an hour before the explorer crashes begin. And yes, this is a fully licensed and legal copy of Win 7 Pro that I purchased through CDW. A side note, this computer ran WIN XP perfectly. All hardware has been tested and is perfect. If anyone has found a fix for this issue, then please chime in! Below are the errors that populate the Event Viewer:

Activation context generation failed for "c:program files (x86)windows livephoto galleryMovieMaker.Exe".Error in manifest or policy file "c:program files (x86)windows livephoto galleryWLMFDS.DLL" on line 8. Internet Explorer 8 Crashes
I´m using the internet explorer 8 and windows 7 32bit. After logging in and opening ie8 (taskbar) the system crashes and a bluescreen is following, no matter if any other programs were running or only the ie8.

When I open Mozilla firefox or opera at first and run the ie8 after one of them, the system is running without any problems.

Adobe Flash And Internet Explorer 8 Crashes
Anyone else have a problem with Adobe Flash Player causing IE 8 to crash?  The flash player is the newest version (Flash10c.ocx, version: 10.0.32.18).  I was on vista 32bit an had this problem.

Wiped the hard drive clean, installed windows 7 64bit and installed the latest flash player from adobe.  It has caused it to crash 186 times in the last 6 days!  I tried unistalling and reinstalling with no luck.  I know I can turn it off, but I need it for the majority of websites.

Explorer Crashes Loading Update Program
I've run into an issue loading Windows Update that causes Explorer to crash everytime. A few days ago I tried installing a third-party Media Center plugin but the installer crashed... nothing surprising there except for when I tried to run Windows Update soon after, it failed to load and crashed Explorer. Fiddled around for a while and couldn't figure anything out, so I reverted to a Restore Point which fixed everything.

Tonight I tried to install Silverlight (downloaded from Silverlight website) and nearly the same thing happened. This time the Silverlight installer loaded, I click 'Install Now', but the box disappeared and never installed. Then I remembered Windows Update had the Silverlight 'optional update' in queue, so I tried to open up Windows Update only to get the same Explorer crash.

To eliminate the obvious, restarting does not fix it. Virus scan is completely clean. CHKDSK finds no hard drive errors. Etc. Here are the details of the crash:

Firewalls, Network Drives (NAS) And Explorer Crashes
My observations: Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Two NAS servers, from QNAP. After a random period, Explorer hangs/crashes. This is with either the McAfee firewall or Kaspersky's. It looks like Windows looses the SAMBA connection and Explorer can't restore when an attempt is made to access the drives.

The Windows firewall works fine.. but ONLY if autodisconnect (a registry setting) is set to 0xFFFF (65536, max value). For other firewalls, this doesn't matter it seems. Failure occurs anyways. Did anyone see this as well ? In case of Vista there were no problems, but it's my understanding that the firewall support in Windows 7 is different.

Network Drive Searches Crashes Explorer.exe
So I have about eight Win7 Pro 64-bit systems in our office and 3 of them crash Explorer.exe every time you try to search a network drive from within Windows Explorer.  The other Win7 systems do not have this problem.  The 3 systems that have the issue do not experience the same crash when searching local drives, only network drives.

I tried uninstalling antivirus software, but that did not help. Below is the Event log description of the crash. The log also mentions ntdll.dll so I checked the file's  digital signature, date, and size on the suspect systems and everything looks the same as the systems without the issue.

External Hard Drive Crashes Windows Explorer
I have an Iomega 120 GB external harddisk formatted with NTFS, and Windows recognizes it, it works, etc. However, when moving large volumes of data through the USB 2.0 connexion, the disk will stop, and if I try to kill the transfer in the task manager, Explorer crashes and doesn't recover. I connected the HD to a Mac using the Firewire connexion, and it works perfectly fine.

I connected it to a Linux machine as well, and although it still hangs, the system does not crash, and I can simply kill the transfer and remount the drive. Any thoughts?

Explorer.exe Crashes When Browsing Network Files
I am seeing Explorer.exe crash when opening certain network folders. It might do it two or three times in a row and then opens it ok. There is nothing special about the folders, they just contain regular files and folders (for example, no video or pictures files, etc). Just now, I can't reproduce it, if I do again, I'll post the error info. If I click to restart Explorer, a new explorer window opens - you don't get explorer back running your desktop and Start Menu.

These folders present no issues on any other OS. Is anyone else seeing this?

Asus Eee PC 1000HE Hybrid Storage Crashes Explorer
I recently purchased an Asus Eee pc 1000HE in Thailand. It came with no OS, so I decided to install the 7RC. So far, so good. No major problems yet, and I really like Win 7, but Asus offers 10G online storage with this computer.

The software would not install, so I tried installing in compatibility mode, which seemed to go okay, but afterward, opening windows explorer would cause it to crash. I uninstalled the software, and all was good again. The disc that came with this has a few other utilities also, but I haven't tried them yet.

Explorer Crashes After Right Clicking On USB Key Drive Letter
does anyone know why Windows Explorer keeps crashing when I right-click on the USB drive letter in Windows 7? I used to be able to do this in Windows Vista: right-clicking gave me an option to run  a Norton AV scan on a USB key after I plug it in, so I can scan it before I access any files on the USB drive/key. After it crashes , system asks me to search for solution on-line, that's never there anyway.

Internet Constantly Drops
I recently upgraded from Vista x64 to Windows 7 x64, and my USB wireless adapter is having major issues connection to wireless Internet. I've tried my Belkin USB adapter (which actually doesn't work on ANY computer anymore...hoping it was just a coincidence) and my Netgear WPN111 wireless adapter is having issues as well.  The main problem seems to be inconsistency in connecting to the wireless network.

Usually my computer will start up connected to the Internet fine, but depending on the size and intensity of using the Internet, the connection will go to limited connectivity then not recognize any networks at all and the only way of "fixing" the problem is restarting the computer only to repeat the process once again. I am very frustrated at this point, because I've tried pretty much every fix I could Google online and haven't gotten anywhere.

Hard Drive Running Constantly
I have a Dell Inspiron laptop. I was running Vista and about 2 weeks ago I decided to upgrade to Windows 7. After the upgrade, things worked beautifully, but a few days ago my hard drive began running constantly and still is. Whether I leave it alone or am working on it does not seem to matter, yet system performance seems unaffected by it.

I am a novice computer user so straight forward instructions or explanations are more than welcome.

Win 7 Constantly Freezes (not Responding)
I have been using windows 7 since 08.24.09.

The hardware details are as follows:

Intel E-8400 processor – 3000GHZ
160+160 HDD, 4GB RAM (6400)
MSI ATI 512mb 3780

I installed the latest drivers from the manufacturer's sites, the basic software, like MS office, basic Multi Media and faced the problem: I can not restart or shut down without holding the power button  -  OS constantly freezes (not responding). It starts to logging off, and then the shutting down and then just freezes. This happens every time since the installation.

But in the safe mode I have no problems with Windows 7.

Constantly Troubleshooting Network After Boot
hardware concerning: ethernet, specifically nforce4 network controller (drivers

situation: Assigning pc to static ip of router (wrt54g) ie; 192.168.1.xxx default gateway, and primary dns as 192.168.1.1

problem: upon bootup the network can not find the proper route and has to diagnose/troubleshoot to fix the problem, which was a nag every time and gadgets like weather and such would not be updated until this was resolved. If leaving network to dhcp the problem would not occur or nag. Yes dhcp set on router.

solution: simple really, going to nvidia's site and installing the latest nforce4 platform drivers fixed the problem (which i think is just a reinstall of the drivers as i think they are the same that are packaged with Windows 7 7000. Have not checked this yet to confirm

Display Constantly Freezes After RC1 Install
I was using the Beta since Feb. with no problems whatsoever. When the time limit was up I installed the RC1. I did a freesh install, not an upgrade. Ever since the install, my display will freeze at random and the pc requires a hard reboot. I initially assumed it was a video driver issue. First, I updated all my drivers to the latest, but it kept happening. So I tried the driver for Vista, but it kept happening. Well, gaming and watching video is the main thing I do with my pc, so as is it is useless. I disabled the video driver so I could download another OS but it still freezes, even with no video driver.

I can't stay unfrozen long enough now to download a linux distro, and my XP is no good becasue it doesn't come with the drivers I need to get online, so I can't install it and update the drivers, so basically I'm screwed.

I have searched online for hours, but no real answers. Its frustrating as hell that the beta was working flawlessly, then they made me ugrade, now its broken.

Win 7 RTM Constantly Reboots At Logo
All,I'm using a copy of Windows 7 RTM that hasn't been activated yet. I have the retail RTM on order and am waiting for that to arrive so I can use the license key from it. In the meantime, I have rearm'd W7 twice. After the second rearm my power supply went pop in my PC so I have installed a new one (I shut down but did not get chance to restart after the second rearm). Now, when I boot W7 it gets to the logo and reboots.

No matter what option I try (safe mode, safe mode DOS, "Don't restart on error") it will not boot. At some point in the boot cycle, it will shut down and restart. Normally its the logo, with Safe Mode its the login screen. Is this a feature of the activation (I don't mind if it is, as I only need to wait a week for retail now) or might there be another problem?

I don't want to have to reinstall (I thought I had 3 re-arms available) but if necessary I guess I will have too - I just want to know if its an in-built protection feature of W7 or if its something else, e.g. Power supply not being stable. W7 was working great until the second re-arm and power suppy problem.
