Epson Printer Not Recognized

Win 7 does not recognize Epson Photo R800 printer when using a firewire port. Printer has both USB and firewire and works OK with USB but not firewire. Why not?

Epson 1280 Printer
I have an Epson 1280 Photo printer that runs successfully on Windows 7 64-bit (retail version, not RC), but I have a couple of questions.

This printer appears twice in the Printer Select box, once as "EPSON Stylus Photo 1280" and once as "Epson Stylus Photo 1280 (M)"  I can't figure out what the "(M)" means (tried searching through Windows help). Only the version without the "(M)" seems to work - I tried a printer test with the one with the "M" and nothing happened.  The drivers have a different UI, but only one (which looks like the one I saw under Windows XP) gives version information, so I can't tell which is newer.

I downloaded and installed a driver for Windows XP (64-bit).  The Epson site had nothing newer.

Though both printer versions show up in the Printer Select box when you go to print,  only one (The ""M" version) shows up in Devices and Printers.  (I thought that yesterday it was the one without the "M" that showed up there, but maybe I'm wrong and obviously can't check that).

On the whole, I am very pleased with this new version of Windows.

Networking Epson Printer
Epson printer is connected through usb on xp PC. Win7 can see printer from xp machine and trys to get drivers from xp machine, no win7 drivers on that machine so thats a no go.So I connect printer to win7 machine, no problem win7 installs drivers and all works.Next reconnect printer to xp machine.In theroy all I need to do is get into the printer properties on win7 machine and chage the port from local to a USB virtualport and point it to the xp machine.

Atleast that what it looks like when connected with two xp machines.I cannot change the standard usb port settings through the print properties port configure. If I try and make a new usb virtualport it asks for a driver.So what driver would I point it to and where is it?Or could I install printer as network printer and point to the local driver in win7 machine, where would that driver be and which one?Note: I am connecting machines via workgroup and not win7 homegroup.

Epson R380 Printer Drivers
Having trouble getting my Epson R380 printer drivers to work with Win 7. I know it will be released very soon, Oct 22nd. So I would like to get this printer installed. I am presently using Win 7RC, and have tried several times to get it installed with no luck. I had it networked with my other XP computer and it worked ok but every time I wanted to print something I had to turn the XP computer on. So I decided to connect the USB straight from the printer to my Win 7 computer, and have been trying to get installed ever since with no luck. I went to the Epson site and got the Vista drivers for it and they would not work either.

Error Install Epson RX Printer
I deleted all programs supporting my Epson RX500 printer.  My error. I try to download the programs via the original CD disc provided by Epson RX printer.---Receive the message - this OS version is not supported.

I try to download the provided browser within Windows 7 and`it fails because there is no core printer. Windows 7 support say the core data should be provided by Epson. Epson support say the browsers are provided by Windows 7 and they can do nothing.

How can I get the core printer program installed which will be compatible with the Windows 7 browser?

Epson FX 890 Printer Problem
I have a printer connected to a computer running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit by way of a USB/Parallel cable (USB at the computer end; parallel at the printer end). I am running a DOS program in Dosbox which, when run, terminates with an error message each time it tries to print. I need to know how to get the printer (an Epson FX890) set up so that the DOS program successfully sends its printer output to the Epson. BTW bad idea Microsoft to eliminate DOS support in Windows 7 (the reason I'm using Dosbox) - there are still a lot of DOS programs out there which people are going to want to continue to use.

Epson 3800 Printer Problem
I have a laptop with Windows 7 (home premium, 32 bit); I also have an XP (SP3) computer with two printers attached. An Epson 3800 and an Epson Workforce 30. Both are pretty new. I have installed the Epson 3800 driver on the laptop.

But both printers are connected to the XP computer via USB. When I try to create a new port for the Epson 3800 printer object on Windows 7, I get "Not enough server storage is available to process this command." What I do is right click on the icon in Devices and Printers, then Properties, then Ports then Add Port then I put the path to the printer on the XP computer ComputerNamePrinter2 and that's when I get the error. Is this how it's supposed to done? Is there another way?

Epson EPL-8000 Printer Driver
I can't seem to find a driver for my EPL-8000 laser printer and Windows 7, and searching online comes up with nothing. I just switched from XP, and the only driver for that version was on the XP install disc. Can I somehow use the XP version of the driver? Windows and Epson doesn't have anything for Windows 7 and my printer. Is it even compatible?

Epson Photo 2200 Printer Issue
I have been using the Epson 2200 on XP.  On the new W7 computer I downloaded the Vista 32 driver.  The installation went well until the final area where the driver looks for the printer, which it could not locate.  Under manual search for the port used it shows just Com 1-4 and Serial and strange ports, but no Firewire or USB ports available to click.  I then tried installing with Vista compatibility and then XP compatibility with the same results.  I did not try the old XP driver in compatibility mode.  The printer is connected because it does the internal check of ink when the computer comes out of sleep mode.

Update 2 days later:  I uninstalled everything and started over for about the 4th time.  This time I hooked up with USB2 instead of Firewire.  Installation went perfectly and I was able to print.

EPSON Stylus R390 Network Printer
I installed win7 rc 7100 on my office PC, and the OS of the other PCs in my office are XP professional. The printer is EPSONS Stylus R390 with USB plug.

1. When I attach the printer to my win7 PC, I can print normally and I set the printer sheared. The others can see the printer in the list when they add the printer, but they can't connect it because it requires user-name and password. I set no password, but still popup the window for user-name and password;
2. I attached the printer to another XP PC, it works properly and the others can share it to print. But my PC with Win7 can't. When I tried to connect the printer, sometimes it shows in the list, sometimes don't. Even when it shows, a window pops up saying "Can not connect to the printer";

3. I tried the way of setting the printer "local port", but it doesn't work at all, a window says "can not initiate the setup";

4. I also tried to connect to other two printers in the network, they all worked properly. But I still have to use the EPSON R390 printer.

Anyone give me some help?

I have checked the memory status and less than 10% of memory was used (2G in total), specially I have only just started Windows and should not have insuff memory problem.

Epson Stylus Photo RX585 Printer Not Compatible
I had problems with PC shutting down after installing W7. After lots of troubleshooting removing apps and drivers and trial and error, it seems the problem lies with the epson stylus photo RX585 printer. If the printer is left switched on when you try to shutdown the PC, the system just hangs but if the printer is switched off before you try shut down it works great. I am using the driver that was supplied with W7. I tried Epson's own x64 driver but I had the same problems with that as well. Does anyone else have the same problem or possible fix for this .

Epson Stylus Photo R270 Printer Problem
I'm trying to install my Epson Stylus Photo R270 printer in Windows 7 RC, but the driver doesn't recognize any USB port.

I've updated the software to a Vista version from Epson download center (my prior OS was WXP) and it installed the printer to an LPT1 port, instead to a USB one.

I also tried just connecting the printer to a USB port for Windows to recognize the printer but an error message appears: USB device not recognized.

Using "add a printer" method, there is no USB port listed to choose.

Is there anything to do before purchasing a compatible model?

Drivers For Epson Stylus 830 Photo Printer
I have just upgraded from XP to windows 7 x64, however windows 7 has no drivers for the epson stylus 830 printer. I am now unable to use my printer. I have been onto the epson website but no driver is listed there. I have also looked for vista drivers but the printer is only supported in XP.

Does anyone know of a workaround to get this printer working in windows 7? The printer used to work in XP x64 with the epson stylus 870 printer driver as there was no x64 drivers for the 830. There is not even a windows 7 driver for the 870 so I am really stuck.

Setting Up Epson LQ-570+ Printer Using Parallel To USB Adapter Problems
I am running Windows 7 32-bit Home Premium. The computer has no LPT ports, so I bought a parallel to USB adapter in order to get this Epson LQ-570+ dot matrix printer working. Plugged in the adapter, powered up the printer, Windows auto-installs drivers for the adapter but says no printer is present. I downloaded and installed drivers for this printer (they do have a Windows 7 driver).

Now, the computer seems to know that the printer is present, but it will not print. I have selected the USB virtual port as the port for the printer. I also tried selecting, one by one, all other ports (i.e. COM1, LPT1, etc.) but it would not print anything on those either. I tried plugging it into a different USB port, that didn't work either.

Interestingly, when I have the devices & printers open, and I unplug the USB cable that is coming from the printer, the printer is then greyed out. So, it is as if the computer knows that's where the printer is, and is aware that it is not currently connected. Once i reconnect the USB cord to the computer, the printer shows up normally (as in, not greyed out). But still not able to print anything.

Any thoughts?
