Dual Monitor Problems With NVidia Driver
Running 32-bit W7. NVidia 7600GS with a pair of 1920 * 1200 LCD monitors.
The NVidia driver that comes with W7 (including the updated one that is delivered through Windows Update) was causing serious problems with my dual monitor setup.Â
The second monitor would remain blank (actually, in power save) when W7 started. The Screen Resolution window would show both monitors, as if they were working. Repeatedly pressing the 'Detect' button would sometimes - but not always - bring the second monitor to life.
Sometimes, pressing 'Detect' would cause the second monitor to be "lost" (undetected), and other times it would cause both monitors to go blank, requiring a hard reboot to recover.
If you are suffering these symptoms, I can report that I've installed the 32-bit 181.20 Vista driver and it works perfectly. All problems have gone away.
Begin by using Control Panel | Programs and Features to uninstall the NVidia software. Reboot. W7 will start up and then install its original (buggy) NVidia driver. Reboot again. Then simply double-click the '181.20_geforce_winvista_32bit_international_whql.exe' driver file. You don't need to worry about running in compatibility mode or anything. It just installs without bother.
Reboot once more and both monitors will work with complete reliability.
I thought I'd mention it in case you've got similar problems. NVidia make great hardware but their driver software has always been bloody awful.

Dual Monitor Display Cut Off On One Monitor - Nvidia Gtx 280
I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and am experiencing a dual monitor problem using my nvidia gtx 280. I am using driver version 8.17.11.9562 according to control panel. One monitor is an ASUS 19" and the other is an ASUS 22". The left 19" monitor displays perfectly but the second 22" (right monitor) has the display shifted hoirzontally to the left so that part of the screen is cut off. I have tried to adjust this using the monitor's horizontal adjust feature but even when it is adjusted 100% to the right (deFault is 50%) part of the display is cutoff. Does anyone know of another way that this display can be corrected?

No Dual Monitor With Nvidia Quadro CX
I recently installed an Nvidia Quadro CX card under Windows 7 (risky, I know). Although I'm using the latest drivers from Nvidia, I can't get the second monitor to display through the displayport-to-DVI adapter. I can swap cables all day long and each monitor works fine with the DVI connector; it's just that nothing is detected when plugged into the second output (displayport). Has anyone else run into this problem with Windows 7 build 7000?

Dual Monitor Not Working - Nvidia Geforce 7200m Gt
I'm on a Sony Vaio laptop with a second monitor connected with a VGA cable. I just switched from Vista to Windows 7 and my second 22" monitor is not being recognized under the resolution screen. It worked perfectly fine on vista just hours prior. I tried hitting the detect button, reconnecting the monitor, and restarting. What am i doing wrong? It might be my graphics card, im pretty sure i have a nvidia geforce 7200m gt. cant seem to find drivers for it anywhere. My computer keeps telling me all my drivers are up to date, yet my second monitor is still not recognized. this doesn't make sense. Should i just go back to vista?

RC1 Dual Monitor - Installs On Wrong Monitor
I have a dual monitor system - the video card is an NVidia GEForce 8800 with two DVI outputs. I use the second monitor sparingly. My BIOS boots to the "primary" monitor, and during the install of RC1, most of the dialog occurred on this monitor. I have set up a dual boot system with Vista and W7 and Vista runs just fine on the primary, and I can turn on the secondary at will. So far so good. However, during the last phase of the install of RC1 (this also occured with the first beta), the final output and startup of RC1 occurred on the secondary (!) monitor. It first seemed as though the install hung - the primary simply showed a black screen even though it had been active thrtought the install. I turned on the secondary, and there was all the final install dialog display. I finished the setup there, and then set my main monitor to be primary and now all is well. The fact that some of the install output displays on the secondary monitor is a problem (especially if I don't happen to have that monitor turned on). The entire install should display on the BIOS boot monitor, I should think...

Dual Monitor Issue, Secondary Monitor Is Undetectable
I have just did a clean install of Windows 7 ultimate from XP and I am unable to get my dual monitors to work like they did in XP. I have a DVI Radeon graphics card plugged into the agp slot, and a Nvidia geforce vga adapter plugged into a pci slot of my dell optiplex 755. When I am in the screen resolution settings the second monitor cannot be detected. In bios I have 2 options under primary video adapter and they are auto, and onboard card. When set to auto the Nvidia card gets a signal but the Radeon does not. There are no conflicts in the device manager, and all of the drivers are up to date. When I change the bios option to onboard card the Radeon adapter gets a signal but the other monitor cannot be detected and in device manager there is a yellow exclamation mark next to Standard VGA adapter and a code 10 error that states the device could not be started. I have powered down, and unplugged every cable, I also tried to use the integrated VGA adapter to the Intel G31/G33/Q33/Q35 Graphics Controller but the computer will not even boot. I get "System Halted Attention Unsupported Video Configuration Detected" I have two monitors, both work fine as standalone but Windows will not detect either as a secondary. Please help me someone, I am so used to having my helpdesk email open in one monitor and all of my other work in the other monitor.

If I use default drivers which are installed on windows install, then it works fine, but then I dont have NVIDIA control panel and some other features. My video card is GF 8800GTS 650M 512MB DDR3 DUAL DVI TV PCIE. I would like to know if anyone else is having this problem and If it has been fixed in the newest build, so I could be arsed to do a clean install.

Dual Monitor Bug - Monitor 1 Crashes
My primary monitor (1)  now causes system to be unuseable after it reaches the sleep mode. I just converted to Win 7 Premium from  32 bit VISTA, where everything worked ok. Windows stays alive if I duplicate the 2 screens because my second monitor still works. Both monitors are DEll E207WFP. The card is a NVIDEA 7300LE. Everything was ok until I upgraded 2 days ago. After reaching the sleep time, the monitor becomes DEAD. I setup the screen saver, but the monitor 1 would not awaken, even though it shows the pictures until I use the mouse to awaken the system. Mon 1 is DVI. Mon 2 is VGA connected. System might stay up if I tell monitors to NEVER sleep --- a waste of energy. I first noticed the problem when I went away while backing up the system and my primary monitor never could recover. The monitor sleeps forever so a power off / power on is mandated.

NVIDIA Driver Update For NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT - WDDM 1.0
Every time I try to install "NVIDIA driver update for NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT (Prerelease - WDDM 1.0)" through Windows Update the installation fails. I have the nVidia control panel but the drivers don't seem to work properly when I run games (particularly Warhammer Online). I have tried the current Vista64 but City of Heroes gets a series of rolling bands that scroll up and down the screen. Is there some other way for me to get the updates properly installed?

Monitor Problems - Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT
I installed the windows 7 on a partitioned drive. And the Os works alright but i get these random and lately consistent error that when I run the OS, My monitor does not displaying anything after the windows logo startup. Its a black screen, the monitor displays information in safe mode but not in regular mode. If I go back to windows vista everything runs fine. I need to restart the OS constantly before it finally displays the windows bar etc etc. My graphics driver is Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT, My monitor is acer P223w. My resolution is 1680 X 1050. I have installed latest windows 7 update also on the driver. I have noticed one thing that windows 7 gives me an option. To display images on two monitors but I only have one installed. So i think that might actually be the problem on boots. So i modified the setting.

No Monitor Signal With Nvidia 6200SE TurboCache
I have used the search feature but it seems like others are having different problems with the 6200 than I am. Whenever I install either the Default Windows 7 found driver or the Nvidia 195.62 Driver for my 6200 video card my system boots up, shows the Windows 7 startup screen and then the screen goes black like I had unplugged the monitor, the only way I can get video back in normal mode is to go into Safe Mode and disable the Video Card. I've seen that it might be a refresh rate issue, but it won't let me change the refresh rate, the only option I have is "Use Hardware Default Setting" Here are my system specs. - HP m7350n Media Center PC - Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit - Motherboard: Asus P5LP-LE - Video Card: Nvidia 6200SE TurboCache

Installed windows 7 everything worked great but was having problems with windows media center after I went to a 56k connection so i decided to format start over, Everytime it installs the drivers for my nvidea graphics card my monitor goes black and has no signal. i tried both dif cards. same problem. I am guessing it is the recommended settings but since I only have one monitor I can't change the settings cause.. can't see to do it, and I have no other monitor to hook to to try. I can start up in safe mode so any idea's how to fix this issue or change it all to 800 x 600 so i can see when it starts up with new drivers .....

NVidia Drivers - Monitor Placement Left Or Right
I just installed Win7 build 7100. on initail instalation Windows installed a driver that takes advantage of the high res capability of my chip. I have a two monitors. Under Vista a second monitor with e correct driver can be configured for placement left or right of the primary monitor. I loaded drivers from nVidia with the hope the vista 64 bit drivers might work. It appears the placement cannot be changed. In other words I have a second monitor to the left of my primary monitor and I can only extend my desktop to the right, I will be looking into this. Can it be the driver from MS is interfering with the changed the nVidia control panel is trying to make using the nVidia control panel. But most likely the drivers need some changes made. Has Anyone else seen this happen."Not everything that counts can be counted."

Multi Monitor Support Using Nvidia Go 6100 Graphics Issue
When windows installed it found the drivers for the graphics from nvidia via windows update and everything operates as expected. When an external monitor is connected, the laptop display will turn off and the external will become the primary monitor, this happens regardless of the external monitor is on or off when connected. Additionally it happens on any monitor new or old connected and it does correctly detect and set the resolution and frequency for the monitor. In the Nvidia control panel it does not display the laptop display as existing and the only option for monitors is single display (no other options are shown). Using the windows monitor controls yeilds no different results, it simply acts as if there is no built in monitor at all. One other interesting quirk is that when the external monitor is disconnected the process will not reverse, the computer still acts as if it is connected and the laptop display remains blank. The only way I have found to reset it so that the laptop display can be used is to restart the computer after unplugging the display. Is this a driver/windows issue or a hardware problem? Any thoughts?

External Monitor Problem: Nvidia 9300 256mb HDMI Out
Odd one this - the HDMI (DVI) doesn't detect the monitor correctly - lists it as a Generic Non PNP monitor with corresponding resolutions. VGA out and in works fine (except shaky picture that I don't like) - native res is 1680x1050 at 60hz. Tried - manually setting the res (only goes to 1200x720), and windows update to get a new driver. One is available; but then error WindowsUpdate_800F020B Which says - try emailing customer support. (also had problems with vista and this setup on two identical monitors and laptops - but upgraded to win7rc1 as it is so much better) Next step?

Dual Nvidia 6200 Cards
I Have two nvidia 6200 cards in an msi pm8m -vh motherboard one in the agp slot the other in a pci slot. Have updated the board to the latest Bios but this made no difference to what happens. Started with a clean instillation of win 7 rc1. With both cards installed the system would stat up and the four color screen would disappear and the screen would remain blank. Removed the pci card system would start up and work on the agp display ok. Reinstalled second 6200 card and after the four color start up screen disappeared the screen remained blank, via safe mode disabled the second 6200 card and the system would start up on one screen. Â if I use the control panel, via device manager, I can see both cards. Use the update driver button and having the microsoft wddm driver installed and shut down the computer, when the system reboots both screens work and the nvidia control panel Icon appears in the system and security section of the control panel. If I shut the computer down, when I start up again we end up with the blank screen after the startup screen diapears. If via safe mode I restore the system to pre wddm instillation and reinstall the wddm as above I can get both screens working again (and have done several times trying out different unsuccessful fixes) If i put the computer into sleep mode it will restart both screens, in hibernate mode it will not restart both screens. With both screens working and going via appearances and the advance tab the system has the nvida driver installed and will give driver details, when one screen is working the device manager says the nvidia driver is installed, if I go via appearances the system says the Microsoft vga driver is installed but can not detect the cards or driver number Any help would be appreciated as this setup works well on win xp sp3 and linux suse 11.1. Please include instruction if you require memory dumps or copies of system files as I have not delved into the heart of the windows system.

NVidia GeForce 8500 GT Dual Screen
I recently got a projector from a friend and im trying to setup dual screen. First of all im a bit confused by the Graphics Card itself. I looked for pictures of the card which my computer recognizes as a nVidia GeForce 8500 GT and none have a HDMI port but mine does. So i opened the case and the card has ATI and Foxconn written on it but nothing with nVidia on it. I have a HDMI to VGA cable which im trying to use to go to my monitor but when i plug it in while switched on i get nothing on the monitor but the projector still works and if i plug it in then boot I get no output on my monitor and just just a black screen and the mouse pointer on my monitor. I have no idea what to do. Any suggestions ?

NVIDIA And A13G+ Dual Monitors Problem
I have a PCchips A13G+ motherboard generic PC with an NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 405 card in one of the slots. This configuration allowed me to have a desktop covering both monitors running XP. Since I tried Vista, then Windows 7 RC1, I have only been able to get one of the monitors going at a time. Whichever one I tell the Bios to activate first, is the one that comes up. The other one is not detected. It looks like there are many other examples of dual monitor setups failing under Windows 7 and Vista which worked fine under XP. 've got all the latest drivers from NVIDIA and all the updates from the Windows updates site. Any ideas? Seems like Microsoft wants us to pay extra for reduced functionality. Doesn't seem like a good deal to me.

Dual Monitors On Nvidia 8300 And S3 Savage
I'm running an Nvidia 8300 it is a made for Dell PCIe card and an S3 Savage older 32mb PCI card. When in XP both work fine. In 7 either or will work but not both. If I set the bios to pci the S3 works if I set it to PCIe the Nvidia works. In XP I set the bios to PCI and the Nvidia would still work fine. When I boot into 7 it gives me a message about incompatible driver for which ever one is not set to in the bios. Then 7 disables the video card although it still shows as active in the device manager. If I have the extended option set in the display options the other monitor is active and the mouse and programs will open and operate in this monitor although the screen is blank. Is there a driver that will fix this problem?

Dual Monitor Support
Anyway i have 2 22" LCD Monitors and when i plug them in. Windows 7 does this weird thing were when you select the option to extend the desktop spanning from left to right. Instead of simply scrolling from the left screen to the right screen with your hand as you usually would with any OS, Windows 7 BETA somewhat reverses it were you have to scroll to the left from your 1st monitor to get the 2nd monitor. (sorry if this is really confusing im having a differculty writing this also haha) And if you select your monitor on your left to be your primary monitor, it will wont do that it will move the it to your right monitor instead so i decided to physically switch the monitors around on my desk to get it normal. but i don't like the idea of my computer telling me what to do hahaha. I know its a beta OS but its still based somewhat on vista. ive got the latest drivers for my graphics card and my graphics card is a NVIDIA 260GTX so its pretty meaty and it can do dual monitor fine on other os's.

Dual Monitor - BSOD
I have just built a new machine the last three weeks and finally last night I was ready to complete my final transfer from old to new computer. That meant adding my 2nd monitor to my new machine. My graphics card is a GeForce 9400gt. I have the latest drivers from Nvidia's web site. New machine with Windows 7 has been working for 2 weeks with a single monitor. Both monitors are fairly new. The graphics card has one DVI and one VGA input so I must set up my dual monitors that way, My problem is when I hook up my 2nd Monitor I get the BSOD. I will spend 1 more night trying to fix it but that is it. So my questions are as follows: 1. Does anymore have any ideas why The BSOD comes up when my 2nd monitor is plugged in? 2. Does anyone using Windows 7 have a working graphics card with a dual monitor set up that is working? If so, what card is it? I may be buying one tomorrow.
