Download Manager Error / The Server Returned An Error
I keep getting "The server returned an error. Would you like to retry?" without fail on both the 32 and 64 bit downloads. Any heads up on guidance? Is this a server issue? It's continued behavior from at least yesterday. Environment is XP x64 through IE. If you select yes, download manager immediately says connecting, initializing (with a connection rate), and then errors out all within about a second. Download b/w is >8M connection (just to point out it's not timing out from a dialup connection or anything).

Upgrades For Trial Version Of Windows 7
I had a friend build a new computer for me and he put the trial verison of Windows 7 on it. I have upgraded it to the RC version of Windows 7. Will the upgrades for Windows 7 that are currently being offered as pre-sales, do me any good since I do not have a previous version of Windows on my computer? I do not have Vista, nor do I have XP. The only operating system I have is the trial version of Windows 7. Does that mean I have to buy a full copy of Windows 7 and not the Upgrades? And if so, will there be any advance sales for the full versions with possibly discounts for uses of the trial version of Windows 7?

Adding Folder To Library Returns Error Network
I am trying to share my MUSIC folder on my Windows Home Server (WHS) to my Music Library. Pretty simply structure, so thought this should not be a problem. If I add the entire folder to the Library only 1/3 of my songs are listed. In trying to understand what is happening I found that only 2 of the 5 sub-folders under MUSIC are included (Songs1 and Songs5). Starting over, I removed the "MUSIC" folder from the Library and then proceeded to add each sub-folder indivually. What I found is I could add 2 sub-folders (Songs1 and Songs5), but adding the other 3 sub-folders returned an error message, "this network location can't be included because it is not indexed". If I add any new folder under MUSIC I can't add it to the Library either. I'm thinking this has to be some type of security or user issue but can't think of what it would be since some of the sub-folders under MUSIC can be recognized, while others, including new folders, can not be added. Anyone have any suggestions?

Download 64 Bits Network Print Server
I have a 64 bits Windows 7 notebook installed with Samsung SCX-4725 series PCL printer. For network printing requirements, I tried to install (I am not sure) a 32 bits ZOT Network Print Server which is being used other folks in the office. When I installed the print server, a error message prompted "Failed to add network Monitor". With this message, I still could install the print driver. But upon completion, couldn't print anything with a message "Error Print". Such error message did not appeared when I installed the system under a XP or Vista 32 bits enviornment. I wish to know what is the problem(s) here? Is it ture that I need to install a 64 bits network print driver.

Download From Win 7 To Server 2008 R2 Network Share Hangs
I've been running Windows 7 and Vista and XP on my home network/domain. I recently upgraded from Server 2003 to Server 2008 R2 (64-bit). After doing so, when i download a file from the internet, from any workstation, to a network share, the download is nearly immediate but then when it reaches 99%, it hangs for upwards of 30 - 40 seconds. For example, i can download Adobe Reader, a 32 meg file. Takes about 20 seconds to download. If i download to my local workstation, again, 20 seconds and it's done. However, if i download to a network share, 19 seconds in when the download reaches 99%, it hangs for another 30 plus seconds. This never happened under Server 2003 and i'm completely lost.Any suggestions?I was reading these articles about enabling the Firewall Inbound/Outbound rules on the server for BranchCache services, but that didn't resolve the issue. Please let me know what other information you might need and/or if this has been reported by anyone else. The one other thing I noticed after the upgrade... My wife and I both keep our PST files for Outlook 2007 in our home directory so that regardless of what machine we may log into, we have access to our email. Our PST's are in excess of 600 Megs. I personally have 5 PST's, she has 2.Outlook opens normally and functions normally but then for no apparent reason, it just freezes up/goes to NOT RESPONDING. I feel that this is related as again, this never happened under Server 2003.Lastly, i enabled ROAMING profiles under Server 2003 and logging off and logging into whichever workstation was very quick. Once i moved to Server 2008, and then enabled Roaming Profiles, i now have about a 3 minute wait as i shut down a workstation and close to a 3 minute wait when logging into a workstation. My Server is overkill with a Q6600 processor and 4 gigs of ram. My Workstations include one Q6700 processor with 4 gig's ram and the other's are all Dual Core 2 machines, each with 4 gig's also.I'm also on a wired ethernet GIGABIT network.Sadly, all i can say again is that under Server 2003... everything worked flawlessly.AND NOW... MY DISCLAIMER! :)I plead ignorance because even though i have fairly good equipment and network infrastructure, I am not a wiz at this stuff. I do it to learn and have fun. I am not an amateur, but i am far from an expert too.The main reason i have not gone over to Windows Home Server is first, it's 32 bit, second, i lose the ability for drive mappings, 3rd, i can't "log into it" like a domain, instead i log into local acct's which then log into the home server and 4th, i can't just put in a hard drive with data on it. Windows 2008 Server Or Linux For Server
Have been a LONG LONG user of Linux as a server (hosting VM's XP / Windows 7 mix) and file / print sharing. I used to avoid MS like the plague as far as SERVER environments are concerned - probably because my first experince was Windows NT (Windows NeanderThal or Windows No Thanks) which was SO HORRIBLE that it put me off Windows servers for ages. (Note I'm using a server in a HOME environment where we have around 8 machines (most of which are actually mine for testing -- not a corporate environment which has other considerations). The problem now with the latest Linux distros that they are trying to be "A Better Windows than Windows". You can of course customize them but I haven't got the time or patience to do this any more. To select what packages to install / leave out now is a 100% pain and if you do it wrong the chances are the system will give errors. I've looked at the new SUSE 11.2 -- slick and polished - bit I don't NEED "an alternative Windows". I've just been looking at Windows Server 2008 R2 (got it from Technet) and I'm REALLY IMPRESSED with it so far. I've installed the STANDARD version - you don't need datacenter or Enterprise version for a home server. It runs vmware server on it just fine (although I might go the whole hog and use the Hyper-V virtualisation -- need to do a bit more research). I'm quite happy letting MS do the updates than having to mess around with Kernel compiles etc. Incidentally as a HOME server there are some considerations that you might want to do to make it more like a Desktop OS than a pure server for example add multi-media to it. This guy does a great job at this . Convert your Windows Server 2008 R2 to a Workstation! - Multiboot Installation Windows 7 VM's run just fine on W2008 server (they should as there is a lot of common code).

Logon Server Not Available Error When Login To Corp Domain Server
I just finished installing Windows 7 RTM version on my 64 bit laptop. Everything seems to be working except I get this error message when I try to log into our corp domain, using my domain userid and password. Here is what I have done so far1. Installed the OS2. Successfully joined the corp domain (using the domain joining wizard)- it even asked me if I wanted to create the domain account on the local machine3. Rebooted and tried to login, and that's when I get this response saying "no logon server available to logon". Has anyone seen this behavior with windows 7 (vista was working fine). Any thoughts on how to get past this issue?

Windows 7 And Windows Home Server Backup
Any idea why I can't get WHS to do automatic backups for my Windows 7-64 bit desktop? It does manual backups fine. But, I've set the server to backup automatically at night. It is supposed to wake the Windows 7 Desktop. Does WHS Backup used the client's Task scheduler? If so, there is no task listed in my Windows 7 client. Does my network adapter need to be set so that it doesn't sleep? Is there something I need to do in my BIOS settings to make this work? Do I need to set my wake timers or something in APM? I'm using a desktop that is always on AC power.

Windows 7 Download Tool Cannot See Drive
I've never quote seen this problem, but I'm trying to burn the ISO for Windows 7 with the Microsoft download tool, and it can't find the dvd drive. Unfortunately the tool does not give you the option to search for it. The only thing I can see that might be it is in Device Manager it shows up as a CD-ROM. Yet the drive functions and burns fine. I just upgraded to latest firmware. Drive is Asus DRW-1814BLT.

Failed To Retrieve EpgListings (Error: Internal Server Error
I recieve the above error message repeatedly using both Win 7 x32 and x64 installations for a while now. It was working initially and stopped updating recently. How often should this happen? How long should it persist? The error message is misleading: How do I contact the service provider? I'm trying to get the listings for OTA television in the Chicago, IL area.

SetupOpenInfFile Returns ERROR_PROC_NOT_FOUND
I am currently testing our product (userland, entirely, compiled for x86) on Windows 7 x64 Edition RC and encountered a strange error: We call SetupOpenInfFile from a DLL of ours and Windows 7 x64 edition fails for us here with last error 127 (ERROR_PROC_NOT_FOUND). This runs well on all versions since Windows 2000 up to and including the x86 edition of Windows 7 RC. The code for this has been unchanged since years. I also added a call to SetupGetInfInformation and it fails with the same last error, so I assume that a lot more calls into setupapi.dll fail in the same way. Just for fun I added a global object to our DLL with a call to SetupOpenInfFile in its constructor (I know I should not do such things in globals since this is equivalent to adding code in DllMain) and surprisingly, with this global added, the calls to SetupOpenInfFile from within exported functions of the DLL suddenly succeed. How can I further troubleshoot what's going on here? Any idea what might be the problem?

Randomly Freezes For 2 Minutes Then Returns To Normal
Sorry if this is in the wrong place. About a week ago I did a clean install of Windows 7 RC 32 bit onto my Asus G1S. I really like it so far and other then a simple driver update from nvidia everything has been working well. With one exception. I have yet to figure out what triggers it but I'll be surfing the web using Firefox (fully updated) and normally listening to music on Winamp. After I click a link the page stops and I get the circular waiting mouse pointer. I hover all over the firefox page and nothing changes it's frozen, I click on the page and it fades slightly and says in the top left "Not Responding" If I hover over the different icons on the taskbar they seem to work. But if I try to open up the Documents folder, it will start to open, then freeze as well. My music will also stop sometimes. (haven't noticed consistency with that) Although if the music does freeze and I open winamp it loads fine. But if I click next song it will freeze. So basically everything in some way or another is frozen. About 1 to 2 minutes will go by and then everything will resume as if there was never a problem in the first place. If I tried to open a notepad document, that loads. The song changes. The website loads. everything continues as if nothing was wrong. It's really inconsistent too. I can't seem to figure out a common link. Sometimes it will happen 3 times in 20 minutes (which is extremely frustrating) Other times it will happen once or maybe never in 5 hours of time. Does anyone have any idea what is happening, or experienced similar problems? If you need more information just ask, I'll try to elaborate as much as possible.

LG DVD Drive Disappears After My PC Returns From Sleep
I have a strange issue with my PC (Gigabyte motherboard, Intel i5 processor, Windows 7 professional): When I start my PC, all drives are listed and work fine. But when my PC is sent to sleep, and later is "woken up" again, my DVD drive (LG, model Gsa-h10n) is nowhere to be seen. It is not even listed in the device manager. Just to be clear: this is an internal IDE drive. My HDD is a Sata drive.
